Weird bug with a single contact - HTC Desire S

Ok my phone has a very strange bug. It seems to seriously dislike one of my girl friends, it only affects her number.
Here's what happens, I send a text to her and when she replies my phone refuses to let me send a reply unless I delete the thread and start again.
This happens because it changes 0 or +44 to just 44 meaning the number is wrong.
I have tried deleting her and adding her again but this does not solve the issue.
I am unrooted and using the stock rom. No other contact has this issue.
Any ideas why it hates my friend? I know she's a stroppy git sometimes but my phones picking on her lol.

So no one has any clue?

Sounds like some issue with the country-prefix. Could it be that she is the only one in your phone with a different prefix?
What happens if she sends you a text when you have no thread opened and you try to reply?
Is the phone number in your contacts correct and uses it the country-prefix the same as other contacts?

I assume that you are registered with a google account (@gmail.com or @googlemail.com) which you use to log on to yours phone's Google account?
If so then it may be worth using a PC to web-browse to google.com, 'Sign In' to your account, then go to the gmail link and check your contacts in there. It is possible that you have this one contact set to "44..." in the details there and the phone is overwriting the details each time it resyncs to Google?

Hmm after reading your reply I checked but no. Her number on gmail is 07. It didn't happen when I first got this phone.
I don't know what i've installed or changed but it's odd how it's JUST her number.

Contact list showing incorrect bday from fb...

When I go to a specific contact card it will show the birthday from facebook for example lets say 6/17 (which is incorrect). When I open the calender it shows the correct birthday which is 6/18. It is like this for my entire contact list from fb. Is there anyway to fix this?
Bump... Can anyone check this with any of your contacts that were synced via friend stream?? I've tried a hard reset and it still shows incorrect birthdays... VERY ANNOYING...
Yes, I have the same problem.
Surely there must be some way to fix this...
I have the same problem. I had it with my myTouch 4G as well.

[Q] Contact names/photos not appearing in SMS Messages

I've seen this question posted on other sites but no one has given a workable solution yet. I've got an HTC Sensation on T-Mobile and this only happens with some of my contacts. I haven't rooted or messed with the OS in any way and I'm using the default Messages app.
The issue is that for some contacts, it only shows their number and not their name in the message threads. On the widget screen it shows the correct info, but in the app itself it either shows the number (+xxx-xxx-xxxx), their name and then number (John Smith (M+xxx-xxx-xxxx)) or for a few of them it actually shows just the name, which is what I want. On the lock screen, it also shows only the number and not the name for those same contacts.
I noticed that the contacts it screws up are consistently the same. They are also the people who I started entering by hand before my google contacts synced up. I've tried not linking any contacts and made numerous edits to the contacts themselves, but nothing seems to work.
Please help, xda devs, you're my only hope! This is incredibly annoying because it makes it hard to tell who I'm getting a message from.
This also happened to me after fixing permissions using clockworkmod. I have tried everything I could think of to fix this with no luck. Is there a way to restore the permissions for the messaging app in Synergy?
HTC EVO 4G with Root, Clockworkmod, & Synergy RLS1 (not god mode).
I think the clue here is that it happened after fixing the permissions.
Found the fix here:

Make sure you sync all contacts, enter the command, and then reboot. THANKS to tomyboombotz!

[Q] Google contacts don't show up in messaging

whenever I go to messaging and start a new message, I start to type in a name , but for some reason, even though I have said contact in my contacts as a Google Contact, it won't show up.
I have to goto contacts, click on said person's name and then click message. Kind of annoying... How do I fix this. I am using the newest GInfuse ROM.
If u want help then post once. Posting in every forum is not cool.

How to backup joined contacts?

Hello, I've spent the last hour linking my Google Contacts with Facebook. So i think, i don't wanna do this again next time I flash new rom or change phone. So is it possible to make some kind of backup that will remember what contacts where linked.
If not, is there an app that can rename all my Google Contacts according to the names of the linked Facebook account.
Are you using a HTC phone with a Sense ROM? If you are, then the People app in Sense adds a tag to each contact once you link it. Using this it automatically restores Facebook link when you factory reset/flash a new ROM. To confirm that it added those tags for you, open a contact and look under the 'Notes' section. Also log into your Gmail account on a computer, open a few random linked contacts and see if this tag is there under 'Notes'. If it's there, it's backed up with Google contacts and when you restore the contacts to the phone, it'll automatically link them after signing into Facebook.

i wish i could help man, i want to do the same thing too
Unfortunately, I don't think it is really possible as these are two separate sets of contacts. The best way to alleviate some of the hassle is to transfer some of the data over, as in, transfer the facebook info into your Google contacts.
Facebook info is not editable as it is stored on their sore and merely linked to it. Ubuntu One os working on their contact management which would slow for this as it syncs facebook, Google and any other services to you ubuntu account then would sync to your mobile.

I've added all the email address of my friends to my Google contacts. I manually did this one day on my computer, copy pasting email addresses from Facebook to Google contacts. Since then I've never had this problem. Facebook automatically identifies my contacts through their email ID and links them. It's a time consuming process, but you'll only need to do it once and for every new contact that you add.

Well i'm hardly a developer, but if it possible to access to contacts joined contacts from the android API, and if we build an application that would read information from facebook(with permission, like all FB apps) then i guess it would be possible to store lets say profile id from fb to google contacts notes, and then with the same app, you would be able to join them again in case of new phone/new rom.
Would you say thats possible? Would anyone try to build that?
I think i will try to make something like that after I finish the college year.
HTC has a feature like that, as was mentioned. So it's possible. It would be worth it to try! Basically the htc app automatically searches and paris contacts, based on names, emails, numbers, etc. them you are given a notification, and prompted with the suggestions and you can choose to link. This only happens on startup, so am app that could be called on at any time would be nice!

When on contacts screen, press menu> import/export> export to sdcard
Restore them whenever you flash a new ROM, don't tell if it wasn't what you were looking for

I know it has been a long time since this questioned has been asked, but I wanted to let people annoyed by this problem that I have made a free application that can backup and restore those joins. It can help those with mild OCD like myself.
It is called Total Backup and can be found in Google Play at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.softwareshack.totalbackup. If you happen to use it don't hesitate to write to me any bugs or features you may like. Feedback is very important to me.

Contacts showing multiple only when searching

As the screen shots below show when im using the contacts its fine (1 contact per name) but when i search for a specific person 6 or more contacts show up for that name. I wouldnt mind this but when i save a new number say from a text message and try to add it to the exsisting its like a guessing game which one to put it under because only 1 shows up under contacts normally. If i add it to the first one it says saved but then going into contacts its never there.
Stock 4.0.4 rooted.

I have run into this. You more than likely have more than one account syncing your contact (google, samsung, verizon?) To get rid of the contacts (multiple) Sync them to only one account, delete all contacts, then resync. Hope this helps.

When you have multiple accounts syncing the phone can't always reconcile small differences. If you long press on a contact you can join it to another one manually. It's been something I've had to do since I let Facebook sync.
