If you want your Android OS to recognize your MP3 as a ring tone, create a folder on your root SD Card called Media and then put a Ringtones subfolder in it. Put your MP3 ringtone in the Ringtones subfolder.
This also works for Alarms and Notifications.
SdCard\Media\Ringtones\
SdCard\Media\Notifications\
SdCard\Media\Alarms\
The next time you try to set an alarm, ringtone or notification, you will also see the ones you placed in the above directories along with the built in sounds.
Hope that helps.

Samsung Infuse ringtone file size

Anyway to increase it on a rooted stock rom? I would like to use the songs on my card as ringtones, I was able to do this on my HTC Inspire but have not found a way to do it on the Infuse yet.
Can anyone help me please?
Many apps in the market that make or allow adjustment for ringtones....
i like the mp3 ringtone maker. it lets u download, edit and add songs as ringtones. AND ITS FREE!!

[Q] What is this ringtone called?

I recorded - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20491067/Untitled.wma
I can only find this tone when I go to Settings -> Sound -> Volume -> and tweak Music, video, games & other media volume setting.

[Q] Please help using UCLB3 GB.

Hi i just recently upgrade my samsung infuse 4g to Gingerbread ULCB3 all are ok the video but one thing i cant see is how to make mp3 music to set as phone ringtone i cant find it please teach me how thanks and more power..
I made a folder on the sdcard. Name the folder Media, make a folder in media called Audio. Make another folder in Audio called Ringtones, finally place the mp3 you would like in that folder. A folder called Notifications can be made as well if you want to add your own notification sounds
Sent from my Samsung Infuse
thanks crash its a big help...

[Q] Where are your personal sounds & what format are they in ?

This is the first phone I've ever had I couldn't just drop some sound files in the obvious places & have them work..
So I put some in the stock locations in system/media/audio & they showed up.. but when I picked them the previews weren't right they were still random stock sounds..
Anybody have any success with this phone specifically using their own alarms / notifications / ringtones ?
Where did you put them & what format are the audio files in ?
I have mine on the root of the SD Card (Internal or External should work). They are in folders called Ringtones, Notifications, and Alarms respectively. I have converted all my sounds to m4a so that I could easily add them to either my iPhone or Android. (On and iPhone you just have to rename them to m4r and drop them in iTunes).

And they all work on your G3 specifically ?
Maaayyybe it's just a problem with my ogg then..
I'll try
Yep. They all work. In previous phones all three of those folders were located under a folder called media but I saw that they were on the root out of the box so I recreated them on my external SD and they all showed up.

So I tried m4a as well they aren't working
They're still showing up as pickable with the stock sound selector.. but when I tap one the preview is of a stock sound.. not my actual sound >.<
Where did you put yours that weren't in sdcard/ringtones or system/media/audio/ringtones ?

I just double verified. My ringtones are in a folder called "Ringtones" off of the root of the External SD Card in m4a format. I went into Settings -> Sound -> Ringtone. I see all of the sounds and am able to select one and hear the correct preview. If yours doesn't work that way I might try backing up my SD card and re-formatting.

Ringtones

Kind of disappointed that with new up date I lost ability to use my own music for my alarms. Also not a fan that I cannot use my own music for ringtones and set different tones for each contact. Otherwise the phone is great. If those things could be addressed this phone could be better than Samsung and Apple in my book
