[Q] No 3g in MIUI rom - Milestone XT720 General

Hi everyone.
I have been flashing roms for a while now and I decided to try out Tiger2Wander's MIUI rom:
MIUI t2w v1.12.23_b20111227
I have done a full factory reset before flashing rom. I live in Korea and have a SKT network signal (just no 3g signal).
The rom is great and it is quick BUT I can't get the 3g signal to work.
I have a Korean Motoroi xt720 and I have switched back to CM7 for now but really would like to give MIUI a fair crack if I can.
Any suggestions would be very helpful. I am sure that it is something simple that I am just too retarded to realize I am doing wrong.

issue is already reported for latest version, look at:

[Q] Custom roms for brazilian P920H

First of all, I searched... A LOT. But, anyway, I couldn't find the answer for my primary problem on my brazilian Optimus 3D.
There's a lot of brazilian fellows who could install a variety of custom roms and get network signals just fine, based on v21e, v21c and others (the only official gb here is v20a, witch means tons of ghost calls). But the problem is that it seems that I'm the only one living in a city and with a carrier that uses 850 MHz frequency for 3G, witch means... no foreign basebands for me, my friends.
As I said, I searched, and searched, and couldn't find the answer for my problem. Sorry if there is one out there, but I couldn't find, even if I visit this forum daily since july. Soooo, if any of you are willing to help this poor guy struck on a faulty froyo, please, be my guest. =D
Best regards.

I live in Brazil, too.
Firstly, I installed the 20a original firmware. I then rooted it with megatron.
Next, I installed the modified Touch ClockworkMod recovery to be able to flash Acura Team 3D Max 2 v3.1 (same link).
On first boot, the phone wouldn't connect to the network.
So I read in the Thrill 4G forums that their phone (P925) would work with any European O3D ROM and American Baseband if you install the corresponding Promethius Kernel (depending on wether your kernel version has a plus sign at the end, e.g. 2.6.35.7+ or 2.6.35.7).
So I installed the Promethius Kernel and haven't had any ghost calls since.
Good luck.

Thanks, man. But, using that method, can I use 850 MHz band for 3G?

According to some sites I have seen, in the State that I live (Santa Catarina) my carrier (TIM) only operates at 850MHz.
I use 3G here regularly, so I guess it works.

I tried yesterday but network couldn't work. I don't know if I did something wrong, so I'm gonna try again tonight. Things were much more easy quen I had the Optimus Me, that didn't have all this baseband thing. =(

[Q] Thank You drastic00 + A 4G Question

Hello everyone,
After lurking for a week or two and finally building up the courage to modify my phone (Rogers LG Optimus 3D P925g) I have created an account and would like to join the community.
Unfortunately I cannot post on drastic00's Tutorial yet until I have 10 posts, so I'd like to personally thank him here. His guide was great, there were a few things I'd clarify on it from a Noob's perspective and if he's curious of my feedback, I'd be happy to share. (Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195753)
Now for my question:
My phone is now running XBSA ICS 3D ROM v7 with AC!D and I guess is on the V28b baseband from the guide.
Before I upgraded I was on android 2.3.5 but was also on the 4G network with Rogers.
With my new OS/ROM I'm now only on 3G and H network and do not know how to set it back to 4G. From everything I've learned I think this has to do with my Baseband/RIL to get back on 4G.
I read and went through this guide and there's another Windsor/Rogers guy, but none of his Baseband changes seemed to get a 4G network. Perhaps that post is too outdated for 4G?
Anyways, could anyone help me attempt to get back onto my old 4G network? Pointing me in the right direction would be great, I tried the forum search for topics on 4G or Rogers and it seemed a bit limited.
P.S. Please let me know if I broke any "Noob rules" because, well.... I am one, but would like to change that Have a wonderful day/night all!
Bump
I'd have better luck getting help in the Development guide. So until then I guess I need 10 posts.
At least I'll make use of these 10 posts and maybe help another complete noob by sharing my efforts:
Learning more about what 4G really is I found that it's actually HSPA+. Or just a better 3G that's been advertised wrong. Oh how annoyingly confusing... That means my old stock GB 2.3.5 showing "4G" must have actually just been HSPA+ since this p925g doesn't have LTE capabilities.
So on my preferred network I only have GSM option and no HSPA like I think I'm supposed to have.
My Mobile Network Type idles at UMTS:3 then bumps up to HSPA: 11 when I download. This can be seen in the About Phone under Status.
I shall try Backing up the current state and flashing different Basebands found in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974734
Again, any help or direction is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Since you've got the P925, and not the P920, you could try to search the forum for this phone instead. There is a complete section for P925.
For example, there is now an official ICS V30B ROM for P925, which is more recent than the ICS V28B ROM for P920. This ROM was already released for AT&T but according to many reports here, it works on other networks and even on P920 phone, and it has full 4G support.
Just search the forum, there are many threads and reports about this new ROM. For example:
The original thread with rom .kdz files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2197191
Another thread with rom .bin files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198069
Members who report good 4G: Here, here, check the 4G icon here and for Canada here.
Just follow the guides for installing a .kdz ROM or the alternative guides for installing a .bin ROM and eventually you'll get 4G with the V30B ROM.

Would you like to elaborate on that?
The new member has the P925, lives in Canada, installed the v28b for P920 and doesn't have 4G now. With the v30b you could get 4G on P925 and P920 as well, as shown on the "here parts".
If you have any other information, perhaps you could post it here in order to help our new member.
Thank you very much!

I spent about 6 hours or so researching this V30b ROM since there's no "Total Noob guide" for it haha.
I'm going to go for it, I'll try Xbsall's custom ROM that the Canadian user Goldenmeadow has had luck on it.
If I brick it, I've done enough research to be confident that I can fix it.
Also, boston71, your help was clear, kind and very informative. I actually thought the P925g was just the Canadian version of the P920 with french support. I appreciate your help a lot and wish I could hit Thanks more. I'm curious to know how you easily searched the forum for those single posts? Is there some sort of advanced search trick I'm missing? I get too many results that are just threads and not single posts, then I have to Ctrl + F on each thread page...
Cheers mate!

Thanks for your nice words.
I would suggest not to install a custom ROM but first the v30b stock ROM after downloading its .kdz or .bin files which I linked on my previous post.
You've already succeeded flashing a .bin ROM following the guide from your first post, so you are familiar with that.
You could also try flashing the .kdz ROM following the guide at the sticky thread here (only the Step 1 is needed). The advantages of this method are that is simpler and faster than the first one, and most importantly, is safer than the first one (for example many people are losing their IMEI when flashing .bin files).
I don't know about the Canadian P925g version, perhaps some Canadian member could help. I don't even own the P925 American version, only the European P920 one. But since you introduced yourself so nicely and no one answered your posts for half a day, I decided to answer with the (little) I know about the v30b.
No, I didn't use any trick for searching the forum. But since the V30B is very new rom, there are very few threads and posts about it. I just went to the threads and searched with Ctrl + F about the "4G"

Ok, finally I can help somebody and share the pain I went through
OP, you are absilutely right - 4G and H are the same!
Long time ago, when we got gingerbread update, my phone was showing 4G all the time. Then some member made nice fix and my phone was showing ACTUAL connection speed - 3G or H.
Now with ICS it's back to just 4G... And it doesn't matter if you are on stock or american version of xbsa.
But you put v28 which is european. And that version, I imagine, distinguishing between 3G and H.
Then. There is hidden menu. You dial 3845#*925#. In there it used to be section where you could force your phone into specified band. But now it's gone. Still there is MODEM SETTINGS -> ENGINEERING MODE. There you can see actual band you are on.
And now I share information that I was digging for looong time:
Rogers uses two frequencies in two formats:
GSM850
GSM1900
WCDMA850 - called WCDMA_V
WCDMA1900 - called WCDMA_II
In GSM you can get only Edge (2G). Usually 1900 in big cities and 850 in country.
WCDMA gives you 3G/H:
UMTS:3 is 3G
HSPA:9 is H
HSDPA:11 is upper H
(sorry, I don't remember exact abbreviations).
Here is little discussion you might find interesting:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380357
To save battery phone stays in 3G mode (UMTS) until you start transmit/receive data. Then it jumps to H.
But lazy (or crooked) guys at Rogers and AT&T decided to show 4G all the time (because it's Thrill 4G? ). And it's confusing...
It took me long time to figure out.
Glad you took courage to upgrade!
Congrats!

Thanks boston71! I'll try the V30b. I figure if I somehow brick my phone or really mess it up, I'll get it back to normal somehow. I don't see a thread about someone being bricked and then they actually use their phone as a brick since it's unsolvable

That was a very interesting thread, thank you for sharing it. I wish they'd make it all one standard for the levels of connection!
That Rogers information would explain why I only have the option to pick from GSM or WCDMA. But then it doesn't explain why my father's Galaxy S3 has a HSPA/LTE option.... Maybe it's just the phone or something, I'm not sure.
I'll try the V30b even if it seems I'd be okay with what I got. I am just really enjoying this stuff
Thank you so much for your help, greatly greatly appreciated!
Edit after a re-read: Lol, I want to hit more Thanks buttons since your post was just so much awesome information summarized in such a simple and understandable way. Go! Spread your knowledge! You're good at it!
I know its been said but the O3D is not a 4G phone, despite the Yank version name.
I have had a play today with basebands and 28b/30b ROMs. If you are on xbsav7 you are probably better off staying on it and just flashing the 30b baseband with LG Flashtool.
Switching to the correct baseband increased my data speed by about double. Install Speed Test to check for yourself.

It explains everything Sammy G3 DOES have LTE mode (real 4G) that our 3D lacks... But don't forget, our LG is couple years older
And believe me, I found all this info not just for fun. My first phone was LG Optimus 2x - I got from friend who bought it in Europe. So I had 3G in Kitchener but only Edge (2G) in Woodstock... It was driving me crazy till I found about bands. So that phone had GSM850/1900 but only CDMA1900. That is why in "rural" town I didn't have 3G... So I got rid of that model and bought 3D on kijiji
And like LeighR said - try different basebands and do speed test. Before this one I used v20c. Actually I'm still testing this v30b baseband, may be I'll go back...

I've been PMing a fellow Rogers + Windsor Ontario user. He's very kind and has told me V20C has worked wonders for him. That's what I'll try flashing tonight.
With V30B I'm just getting 2-3MB/s on speedtest with 3-4 bars signal.
He's telling me he gets 8-10MB/s. I guess I'll have to try 'er out.

I was going to try the V28b Large partitions then his custom V30B rom then flash bandbase V20c. I figure if I brick my phone that it's a good lesson
I'm on stock V30b ICS from AT&T right now. There's way too much bloatware.
Thanks to both of ya!
Don't forget to apply fix for metallic voice after you flash v20c!
And yes, I think I noticed drop in speed too... Gonna try v20c this weekend.
Also thinking about switching to xbsa 7.2 only because it's nice to have his support - I've been on his ported ICS for couple months now and happy.

Wind Mobile- Canada (GTA) This WORKS GREAT

Ok, so I tested a few roms and found out the hard way.
This is WHAT WORKS.
ROM- Slimbean 4.2.2 (The Official 8 build is what I used at the time build 6 did not work for me the first time)[Build 8][August 6 2013]
Use the ROM in this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2158157
modem - Blaze4G UVMB1
third down from the top
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895400
kernel- using the one with the ROM
The other Blaze4g modem works BUT it drops the signal and shows up as UNKNOWN in baseband. The only way to get the signal back is to reflash the modem file from recovery.
Follow the directions for the ROM
USE TWRP and wipe and format your system 2-3 times to be safe.
The battery life is very good and the signal is always 3-4 bars (full signal) and it does connect at H+ LTE speeds.
* the problem is current modems/radios are not compatible with all 4.2.2 ROMS. Most modems are meant for 4.1.2 ROMS.
Old and repeated info
Sorry to burst your bubble but any TW rom or CM (4.1.2) for Skyrocket will work , kernel too
The radio is the essential point...And everybody in need for AWS bands to get HSPA reception is told to use UVMB1....lol
Your other Blaze radio didn't work simply because it's not a JB-compatible radio....
It might not work for everybody equally since network connectivity is affected by many variables , tower congestion , equipment , interference , load on network and many more ....
ANY rom 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 will work, it was the radio that u needed. Happy to hear you got it sorted and are running well

I don't think that is accurate.
The kernel can also be a factor.
From what I found and tested some ROMS/kernels/modems work much better than others.
From my findings this setup works really good, always a high signal and very good battery life.

[Q] LTE with 4.4.4 Paranoid Android on Rogers

Let me preface this by saying that I have searched and searched for an answer, so if someone is able to point me to a relevant thread that can fix this issue I would be super grateful.
I have a rogers XT925 which I have managed to put the 4.4.4 P.A. firmware on after flashing to the RTRF KK update. I love this ROM (although I am a newbie to customs) and all seems to be working fine, but I have not been getting LTE service since the update. The best I have is H+ right now. Rogers is my carrier and I was receiving LTE from the stock JB firmware. I talked with customer service and set up the proper APN (found the info online, but wanted to verify it through Rogers). I have messed with the settings and put it to Global for network. I also did the #*#* thing and made sure it was set to LTE as well. Still nothing. I can only imagine that it is the modems that are not correct, but I don't really know. Has anyone else had this issue with P.A.?
Any one have a possible solution?
Thanks
I don't think the retail France modem supports Rogers LTE. You may need to try the BR modem but if you can't do that or it does not work you may be stuck waiting to see if Rogers ever releases a KK update to use the official modem before it will work again or try to downgrade back to JB.

[Q] AT&T D850 Stock ROM with multi-apn

Hi all,
I have installed the CM12-20141225-UNOFFICIAL-d850 ROM and it runs ok. But, the only two reasons I moved from the stock to a custom ROM were since I'm not on AT&T coverage, the stock would not find updates (even connect to the update servers) and that it would not register to a 4G LTE network here in Brazil.
The first time I installed the ROM I'm using now, I could get no APN here and managed to correct that with a multi-apn.zip file provided on a thread somewhere here (sorry! I can't seem to find it again!).
I'm considering going back to the stock ROM as I did not enjoyed the CM12 ROM all that much.
I'm sure there are other ROMs I could try, but I'd like to know if this multi-apn.zip patch would work with the stock rom as well.
Thanks in advance,
gtludwig

I have encountered APN issues on more than one cm/aosp based rom.
I would suggest trying Illusion rom (5.0.2), as I have not had the issue on this one and I personally find it more feature rich than CM12.
