[Q] How to UBROOT a BRICKED LG THRILL - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

So I have a rooted LG Thrill 4g with clockwork recovery mod on it, and it was running the latest Thriller rom. Its on the AT&T network (booo!)
Unfortunately, I turned it off and tried to boot into the recovery by holding volume down and the power button (I have done this once before and it worked just fine). But this time nothing showed up; the phone didnt light up and there was no vibration, even if I tried to turn it on by just holding the power button. It is COMPLETELY unresponsive to normally turning it on. My guess is the device maybe had not entirely shut down when i tried to boot the recovery, possibly causing it to loop and brick itself?
Anyways, I got 2 new lg thrills from AT&T (didnt root them this time) and with my sim card in either of them, both tell me no sim card, emergency calls only. However the sim works just fine in a AT&T crap-phone I got for 20 bucks at walmart, thats not 4g or anything.
AT&T will send me a new sim card soon, but if anyone knows why my old sim card isnt being recognized, or how to unbrick or unroot my original LG Thrill I would be eternally grateful. I have to give it back to AT&T soon and if they find out it was rooted, they will probably charge me the full price of the phone *GASPS* Please help me out guys if anything comes to mind, thanks!

Anyone help me out?? ^^^

I am in the same boat as you. i rooted my thrill and everything was going good. I powered it off and tried to cut it back on and it wouldnt cut on. So now it is unresponsive. Ive posted many threads asking for help and no on e will reply. Nothing. So I dont know whats going on. But my guess is we dont have any help on this topic. Many people and there bricks or they are stuck on loading loops but I cant even get mine to cut on.

Noob Bricked TP2?

Ok here is the deal I studied http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008 downloaded all the software. My phone is GSM TP2 Sprint, I started with the FlashHardSPL and I ran RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3.exe (step 5)
clicked on the appropriate buttons..and it started to load. It remain stuck at 0% for a while and I got an error in the meantime my phone also just shuts off goes completely black. I think its safe to say its officially bricked i tried to do a hard reboot nothing comes up..I cant even power on or enter bootloader. The only thing I get to come on is the Charging Orange buttom.
I'm using Windows 7, and Net 4
any unbricking ideas?
You have a CDMA Touch Pro 2. This is for GSM Touch Pro. Completely different phones.
Your phone's probably dead, and like petard said, it's not gsm, it's cdma if it's a Sprint. Not that that matters anyway, because you flashed a raphael hard spl onto a rhodium. Despite the similar brand name, they're completely different phones. I suppose you could spend some time trying to flash the proper rhodium-cdma hard spl (if it exists), but my guess is that you won't save the phone. Or, if you can get ahold of a stock (not reconstructed) sprint rom, try flashing it (make sure it's a TP2 rom, not a TP rom). The fact that the bootscreen was stuck on 0% says to me that you may have a little hope. Have you removed the battery for a while, then tried turning on the power or soft resetting? If that doesn't work, go to the flashing.
Well that pretty much sums it up for me...Why does the tutorial say that if it has a sims card then its a GSM phone, that was my biggest concern I checked and found a sim card I knew Sprint was CDMA phones but TP2 being and international phone also I thought it was an GSM phone. I guess I will look around try you guys unbricking schemes thanks alot.

Ok does CDMA has a tutorial like the GSM?...I will search too thanks
First of all: touch pro 2 is not raphael...so you got that wrong. Second, I have a GSM Raphael and I almost bricked it while trying to install a CDMA ROM but I managed to go into the bootloader and fro there it was easy...Try that yourself and see if it works...
BTW:
It says it clearly:
***THIS TUTORIAL IS FOR THE GSM RAPHAEL'S ONLY!!! DO NOT USE WITH CDMA VERSIONS***
I apologize for the noob error thanks all

There are newer phones coming out that are dual sim-cdma. You use the cdma networks in the US, and then can use pre-paid sim cards abroad (cdma phones are pretty much useless abroad). I guess this is what you have. I have no idea how you flash one of those. You sure you're not confusing the sim card with an sd card?
If you can get into bootloader, you may be ok. But it sounds like you can't, so I suspect the phone is toast. The problem with flashing the wrong hard spl is that you now have an spl that doesn't work properly, and it also can't be over-written. The spl boots up the phone, but it also controls rom upgrades. So, it doesn't work, it can't be over-written, and it won't allow you to flash anything new. That's a bad place to be.

Dang, sorry about your woes. Funny, with the craziness of the HSPL for your phone coming out any time now, I just did what you did! Yeah, and I'm not really a noob either. lmao!! My TP2 didn't brick, I just got an error message. Lucky?
Tell us what happens when you try to turn your phone on...
Idiot x 2
I just bricked mine.. It was a Sprint Duel mode CDMA TP2.. i was tired and loaded the wrong file.. it all loaded fine.. then reboot, and black screen.. no power, no nothing.. now what..??
sadly
Same Goes for me have a Sprint TP2 and used the wrong cdma or gsm rom or spl not sure happened about a month ago been keeping it as a paper weight...Hold Power button (Top left) and vol. down at the same time let go of power button keep holding vol down does nothing..Power button alone does nothing..Plug it in and the charging light goes on then I assume battery is fully charged the light goes off... pc doesn't detect it mtty.exe doesn't pick it up when i put it on usb..
Bottom line..Its a $200 paper weight with a keyboard now?
Makes you worry when people have £500 + phones and they just jump in and brick there phones, all the info is provided just takes a day or so to read, read again then do it again....

First time I've heard of this particular issue. I'm assuming that when you say you restored, you completely reflashed the original firmware. If this is the case, you're pretty much just left with the options of getting a replacement phone.
well i held vol down and power im downloading the firmware now and going to try that.. now it keeps bootlooping I havnt done anything to the phone just a simple reboot and i get the no sim symbol

Do you have stock or custom recovery?
Ok well some good news in my panic i slid my wifes sim in wrong...it works with hers... I stuck my sim in her vibrant and get no sim as well phew... is it normal for a sim card to die?
If you zap it with static electricity by mistake, that'd be one way to kill it!

Sim cards are extremely basic in design. Although they don't go bad too often since they're housed inside a phone, it doesn't take much to damage them.
the thing is the sim was in the phone i didnt touch it i hope this phone isnt going to start killing sims

[Q] do i need the sim card to root + rom a phone?

basically the GF was super frustrated with her infuse....
constant loop reboots, gps radio awful, calls dropped, etc
so we tried to work with ATT - got new battery, got new phone
at this point she's fed up and put her sim card in her old blackberry
trying to help her out i'll put a different rom/kernel on the phone to see if it'll help -
but do i need her sim in there to do so? i can't imagine it is necessary but figure'd I'd ask before I brick it
Nope, you will be ok without it.
thank you very much

[Q] How do I get my phone to stop saying not registered on network?

I'll start from the beginning, II was rooted and I wanted to speed up my phone so I tried to use SWAP. I never got it to work for some reason but then out of no where I was on the home screen and then my phone rebooted but wouldn't start again, it got stuck at the T-Mobile 4g LTE splash screen. I was still able to go into recovery and all that. So I decided to format my phone. The. That screwed it up even more because then it got stuck at the Samsung Galaxy light start up screen. So then I used Odin and flashed a stock rom. But that still didn't help it got stuck at the T-Mobile splash screen again. I went into recovery and it said era error. I managed to fix that and that went a way. Then after an hour of searching I was able to boot up my phone because some forum said all I needed to do was spam the volume up and down buttons at startup to get it to work. After that I set up my phone but then I was getting any 4G and I couldn't make any calls but it said I had 5bars. I kept getting a message saying not registered on network. Nothing would make it work. I called T-Mobile and I went into setting tried fixing my apn, tried connecting to T-Mobile again but nothing. They just called me back today and after I gave them my i di number they said it's not working because I rooted my phone. It doesn't have a bad i eu or anything it's just not working. I did see that my imei on my account is different than the imei my actual phone displays. I am able to do wifi calling and that works. So obviously something got jacked up when I formatted my phone. I want to know if anyone can help. I didn't back up my efs because I didn't know I had to, the only thing I've rooted before was my tablet. I have a Samsung Galaxy light SGH-T399 . Can anyone help. Ik my thread was long but I wanted to kae sure I got every little detail. And so basically what I need to know is why this keeps happening and what do I need to do to fix this. Could it have been because I formatted my phone completely, and I mean completely I got an error saying no OS found. I have an spouses module for an imei chNger and I changed it back to original and still nothing. My serial number also isn't the same in settings has it is in my battery compartment, it's not even the right length.

Try moving to the unlocked firmware or update it manually through Odin.
Thank you but i dont know how to do that. I'm new at this I'm learning. If you could help i appreciate it.
Occurs to every phone that gets unlocked from the original carrier. Even though it's quite dumb. My suggestion is to continue to read and learn more about the device. However if you can locate the proper tmo build for your phone.. Should be CRB7 or higher. Maybe CRB9 you can update to the latest version through the SD card if you have one. I stress that if you have any issues with how you can get into recovery mode, or updating in this manner, do not attempt until you feel comfortable doing this. The quick and easy way would be to switch to the Sprint SIM and then you can get the updates over the air. If you unlocked the phone this should not be a problem.
Try to use my old Sprint SIM card not activated. Says no data connection or network. I have a SD card. I want to do this. I know how to get into recovery mode etc...with power button and volume up and Bixby button.
