When I use Qik video calling the person on the other end says I am upside down.
I've had this issue before in the past with certain roms causing the issue.
I only have 1 buddy that has Qik for me to test..
My question..
Does anybody else have this issue or is it most likely my buddies rom on his phone?
UPDATE : I can now confirm qik works. My buddies phone was what was causing the problem.

hard to tell and honestly I haven't used the front camera much lately but it does work for me using Tango app... I had heard of this issue way back on early GB leaks but have no idea why its doing it on the stock OTA, must be an app issue or could be your friends phone/rom

My phone has a problem in QIK for TMOB. It does not work with the back camera only works with front facing camera. But I downloaded regular Qik app from market and it does work perfectly. Does anyone else has this problem?
Also you might be wondering if regular qik works, what is the problem? The problem is when somebody calls me I am not able to flip my camera (I guess the tmob app opens up.) Then I have to call them back using regular qik and everything works fine.
By the way my phone is not rooted and nothing has been moded.

Well when most of these problems occur their is three routes you can usually take:
1) Uninstall the update that happened when you first opened the T-mobile Qik and than re-update it.
2)Just freeze/uninstall the T-mobile app from your phone and just use market one.
3)Yell at the heavens and curse T-mobile for condemning the G2x to a life burdened with bloatware.

I like your 3rd option....
On a serious note, I tried the first solution you gave, but it did not work for me somehow. And I guess the second option needs rooting, which I am still not comfortable with. I came from HD2. I did lots of testing there but I didn't care about that phone anymore. But I love this phone which I don wanna mess up.
Anyways, thanks for the suggestions.

Well on a serious note rooting for this phone is cake and with oneclickroot you can unroot the phone too if your heart desires. Plus when you root you can change alot of simple settings to extend battery life and make the phone run better!

No problem someone had to push me my first time rooting too. And after you root look at the link in my sig for some tips on how to get more battery life.
When I opened Qik it said there was an update and directed me to the Market. With Record and Share open, when you hit menu, there's a button to switch the camera between front and back.
I guess the Sensation is not the first device to have this problem -
When using Fring, the front-facing camera shows my face as upside down to the other person , which means I have to rotate it 180 degs for them to see me right, which obviously means I get to see freaky people who's hair are defying gravity and who speak from their foreheads..
Anyways, I googled for solutions and found out that fring support apparently has an apk which has fixed this issue and they are sending it to people individually when they open a service ticket (no such luck at my end so far)...
But I thought it's worth throwing out here to see if anybody else has such an apk to share with all of us.
Thanks in advance,
mOrph
anybody with an apk? anybody at all??
I know this is a stupid question but have you tried reinstalling it?

Yes I did. Tried reinstalling. Having done a coupla hours of google searching, what I found out is Sensation isnt the first or only device to have this issue.
I finally heard back from Fring support. Here's what they had to say -
"Hello,
Thank you for contacting our support team.
Please note that the handset you are currently using is not officially supported by fring.
We are aware of the issue and working to solve it in the near future.
Make sure to check our blog for version updates http://www.fring.com/blog
Please feel free to contact us again should you have any further queries."
I am also having this problem, although I do have to say that is not just a problem with fring. I also have the same problem using the T-Mobile Qik video chat. I have seen fixes for the problem for other devices that would probably work, assuming I had a rooted phone...
Has anyone found a way to fix this without root??? This is the only thing wrong with my T-Mobile Sensation.
And please don't tell me to hold the phone upside down, that is not an acceptable solution.
Also it would be interesting to find out if there is anyone who doesn't have this problem. Considering this is the only thread about it, I'm beginning to think that this is a problem only on certain devices.
Tango works fine download that
I can confirm that Tango does work correctly, although the audio seems quite garbled. Hard to hear the other person, although they were on 3g at the time and not on WiFi.
Qik said they are working on an update to support the sensation.
So does the Sensation have an upside down front facing camera and just correct for it in the software? It seems weird that the video is upside down. I would understand having no video, as that could be a driver problem, or an interface problem.
I put Skype on my XT720 today because it said it would work with the back camera (since there's no front facing one). I tried some calls though and the video didn't seem to work... Does anyone know if skype back video calling actually works with the XT720? It could be just an issue with the ROM I'm on or I'm doing something wrong, but I'm curious to know if anyone has actually had it work for them.
Thanks
I just bought a brand new HTC ONE X (Rogers) and it is on the Rogers network. The software is on 1.73 and my Camera app is acting up so I was hoping to update to whatever is the latest. It is still on stock, but it isn't detecting any OTA updates, nor could I google any way to manually update.
EDIT: Found a video of someone with the same issue:

Also, as a side question, has anyone had any luck playing hi10p files on this thing?

It is weird that AT&T is not detecting any updates. The latest OTA is 1.85.
I do not know much about the camera app. Except if you rooted before updating you could then install any camera app you wanted, assuming it was made for your rom/hardware.
Edit: My bad, I see you are Rogers, not AT&T. In which case someone else should be able to help you more than I. If I had your phone, I'd root it and install a different camera app. But I guess I'd want to know why its acting up. And therefore possibly how you could fix it or avoid the problems. Have you considered it might be a hardware issue?
I was googling it and a few people had the issue and apparently updating it solves the problem. I don't THINK it's a hardware issue because the camera app works from time to time. Now it just automatically shuts off when I turn it on. Give it another couple hours and it might come back on.

I don't know what the latest version is for rogers but I think it would be more than save to assume that if it doesn't fine the OTA update, it hasn't come through. Meaning that for Rogers, 1.73 IS the latest. Meaning that unless you installed a custom rom, you won't be able to update to a possibly newer rom.
Thanks for the quick replies, that's kind of lame, but I guess I'll just use a different app than the stock.

If the camera app is acting up ans you don't want to.go through the hassles of rooting the phone, installing a different app is definitely the way to go.
This is exactly what happens to me

Camera Zoom FX can see through the camera, but freezes when it tries to take a shot. Very odd...
i find that the person on the other line can not hear me as loud as other phone, when using video call in skype or yahoo messenger.
is there a know issue on HOXL mic?
is there any fix?
anyone experience this also?
I use yahoo messenger and I experienced the same problem on hoc and htc vivid. It's software related and for a long time seems that yahoo doesn't care much. In Skype I have no hope nomore since M$ bought it.

Slingsling mentioned that this could be a software issue, this may be true but if it is not, it could be your ROM. Are you currently on the stock ROM, or a custom ROM? It is possible that this could be because of the ROM, and a custom one could fix it but I do not suggest that you root just yet if you have not. If this happens to be a hardware issue, then rooting will void your warranty and you will not be able to return the phone if this is a factory damaged unit. I'm currently running Clean Rom, and have not had any mic issues, although i have not used skype.
If you ever decide to use a custom ROM, I do suggest that you try the CM10 port. The link is below. It is one of the fastest and smoothest ROMs I have ever used. The only reason I switched to Clean ROM, was because i missed Sense too much.

Hope this helped, and I hope you find out the problem.
