Car Home? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

This phone seems to not include Car Home. The market won't show it in its search results. A diretc market link teases you, but says the device is not compatible. Downloading the API directly and installing it says "Application not installed" (I'm not rooted).
Is it possible to use Car Home on the Skyrocket?

I was able to search, find, and install it from the market with no problem.
Stock, but rooted phone.

I can see Car Home on market in my browser on my computer. I go to install and my Skyrocket (plus all my previous Android devices) are grayed out. I can't install it on any device.
I'm stock on my Skyrocket. My Captivate was rooted & ROM'd. My Motorola Backflip was stock Android v2.1.

Between your experience (which matches my own) and Ginther's (who is rooted), it sounds like rooting might be the answer. I'm still on the fence. I rooted and eventually installed a custom ROM on my phone (Motorola Cliq), but I'm nervous about attempting it on my shiny new Skyrocket.

I don't understand why Google would have restrictions from it working on so many of my phones.

Are you guys going to the market on your phone? or on your computer? Are you trying to install Google Car Home? Or Samsung Car Home?
I installed the Samsung version by going to the market on my phone.

Car Home not in market, not compatible via web
I tried the market via my phone to find Google's Car Home, but it was not in the search results. Via my computer, I found a market link to it but it said my device was not compatible.
Samsung Car Home appeared to not be very popular in the market.

Market issue

I apologize for bein a noob in adavance...
Obviously I can't see all of the apps that some other phones can see in the market because they don't "support" gingerbread yet.
My question is:
Is there a way to be able to see and download those apps?
Thanks!
i can see all the apps without doing any changes. but you can try "Eris Market Fix"
requires root, not sure if it works on Nexus S or 2.3.X
A app not "supporting" Gingerbread doesn't mean you can't see it. I haven't had a problem with any incompatibility with any apps.
What are the apps you can't see?
Try searching for "reseplaneraren" (swedish, a red icon with a white tram should show up if your device is compatible).
It shows up for all my friends (froyo) but not for me.
When I go to the market on my computer and try to install it, it says my device isn't compatible.

No, not stockholm subway maps, you should see the gothenburg bus travel interface, but you probably don't because of the above-mentioned reason.
Try searching for the same thing on a froyo device.
You can also try the same thing for "SEB" (Swedish bank). Should show up as a green icon with the letters SEB in white.
My point is this: Some of the apps that showed up on my froyo device don't show up on my nexus (neither stock nor rooted). These apps show up on the web browser market but are "incompatible with my device".
I'm guessing the developers need to update their app using the latest Gingerbread SDK, or perhaps edit a string to say 2.3 (probably doesn't have anything to do with the hardware, since these apps don't use anything that is "hardware dependent").
For a small country like Sweden I'll bet it's more common that these local apps don't get updated as often as the ones you have, and that's why you haven't noticed it before.
I'd like to know if there is a file on my phone that can be changed to be able to view all of the apps in the market, or if there is another fix.

It is working OK with SE X10. However, neither check-in nor buzz is available in China. We have to wait for the unlocked version
Is this brut mode?
i've got blank (white) screens on checkins etc.
It's very annoying that you have to create your cache all over again every update.
Thx. for posting the apks, Google has something against letting update the Xperia Arc with them via the Market.

They also have something against HTC Desire and Cosmote Romania. I have Google Maps 5.1 installed from a third party source and it works just fine! When I go to the Market on the PC, it says This item is not available for your carrier. On the phone, it isn't displayed at all and I don't want to use Market Access. Eventually, I have installed GM 5.3 from enuazeal. Thanks.

In Estonia we have the same problem - some applications/updates are not available via market.
If you still want to use the market:
Root and use market enabler
or
Get a SIM from a country that is "good enough" in Google's eyes
My Arc is from Germany, free of any lock or branding, why it would refuse to show it I have no idea.
But the install from apk went on just fine.

Thank you mate
However it doesn't work here in Syria, I believe Google checks the IP as well
Well my excitement for this app has improved!! I'm originally from Seattle, but I'm over here in Abu Dhabi visiting my GF for about 3 weeks, and for once my GPS can finally locate me! Granted, I have to keep the phone in Airplane Mode and the GPS icon keeps doing it's little flashing (aka no lock), but at least it's showing me on the correct intersection. I have yet to see what happens if I go outside onto a completely different block, but it's progress. Now only if there was a way to make the maps actually preload onto the phone and I could use GPS outside of the houses' WiFi so I can drive around town w/o getting lost.
She has a Captivate that I've rooted and she has installed a Du (one of their cellphone providers over here) SIM card into her phone so she can make calls, but she doesn't have a data plan. I'm going to update her phone to this version of Maps and see if her GPS acts better and/or can at least locate her based on cell tower location.
is brut mode?
I'm still running 5.0. Besides the checkin's and dashboard option, is this update really worth installing?
Are you serious? Its free!!!!

Just because something is free doesn't make it good. I've found many android app updates not worth updating to because either something is broken, drastically changed, or more useless.
THX
Thank you for the download
Hi,
how does the offline availability work? I plan to go on vecation next month and I would like to use maps navigation but I do not have any contract in the US for data connection. Can I plan my route on it and connecting with wifi and it will download all the data needed so that I can drive just fine?

Leaked RUU with New Radio App Issues

For some reason, I can not find certain apps in the Market like the Astro Key I purchased (mind you Astro app is installed), FiOS Mobile Remote, etc. Any suggestions?
Its because those apps are copy protected, and since the leaked RUU has a build unrecognized by google at this point, those protected apps are not going to show. So unless thats the offical OTA build, those apps will never show because google has to change the market to show copy protected apps for every official build of every phone. So if that software is final, they will eventually show up, if its not, they never will, unless you root your phone and change the build string

Wow interesting I have the leaked ruu and can still see these apps in the market. Op just send an email over to Google and they will help you out don't listen to this guy. For about 6 hours yesterday I couldn't download anything (got a download unsuccessful error) emailed the market team and got a response back helping me out.

It's the strangest thing really. Everything else I can download except for those two apps. I will contact Google for help. Thank you everyone.
P.S. I never had this issue when I installed a leaked RUU on my Incredible except from going to Froyo from Eclair.
Agreed. Astro Key is definitely there and I running the leaked RUU.
+1 - Astro Key and FIOS Mobile Remote with leaked radio...
I'll tell you I'm fed up with EA mobile... I purchased two of their apps when I was on T-mobile... And if I'm using any device that's not on Verizon (ie T-mobile, at&t, or Sprint) the apps will show. But on any device on the Verizon network (I've tried the dinc and the TB) it wants you to buy them again. Sadly enough this is a known issue with EA mobile and they actually charge more for the same app on Verizon vs other providers. I wish there was a way to fix the issue myself as their support team has been playing dumb regarding this...

[Q] Apps missing from NS4G market

I am running the stock v2.3.4 build GRJ22 on my ns4g, but can't seem to find some apps on the market. Specifically, Google Listen, Google Goggles, Facebook for Android, HandyCards-Rewards.
Any idea why they are not showing up. I have seen in some other forums that people have them on their NS4Gs. Do I have to root it for these to work?
One of the other device forums mentioned having to do a factory reset. Is that the only option?
Pure stock? Did you root it or anything?

try going to market.android.com and downloading them from there
If its not showing it probably isnt supported with gingerbread. Although some apps might "work"
Uncle Jimmy says hello
I have experienced this quite a bit, and it is very frustrating to say the least. Essentially the market filters out "incompatible apps" based on the android version. However I would rather be able to download it and decide for myself whether it is compatible or not.
Nevertheless there is no way around it (that I could find). Myself and all the other cm7 users have experienced this since running cm7...
I would imagine there is a way to bypass it, but who knows how and how difficult it would be for that matter.
Try the following apps;
Market enabler
or
Market Doctor (by Tibu)
may fix your problem
awsome..trying now!

WiFi Overseas + Market Help

The device:
GT-P6210 v3.2
Kernal: 2.6.36-P6210UEKL1-CL583281 [email protected] #3
Build: HTJ85B.UEKL1 P6210UEKLI
The sitch:
I'm a US citizen with a US device (I bought through Amazon.com and had shipped to me through a third party). However, I am currently living in Japan on a military installation. When searching for an app on the Android Market, 95% of the time the return is: No results found--even if what I'm searching for is free. I'm assuming the 5% app result (even though it's never what I'm looking for) is because of a similar app posted on the Japanese market (I could be wrong). Using a median to get through to the market (GetJar, etc.), I am able to download free apps, but I cannot buy anything that costs money. I finally emailed the Android App Customer Service and was told it was because of my IP address.
The kicker:
First and foremost, how is it my IP when I have reset my device to factory default and used a US VPN before I logged into the market and was still unable to access apps? But even putting aside that point, here is some food for thought:
I have owned both a Nook Color and Kindle Fire and, after rooting them, was able to access the Android Market just fine. All within the IP address I am currently using.
I have friends here who own Android phones (bought here on the military base through a Japanese phone company) and an Android US tablet. On all three devices they are able to access the market without any problems. Additional info: Friend's devices are SIRIUS α IS06 [au.kddi.com/english/seihin/ichiran/smartphone/is06/index.html] x2, and a Toshiba Thrive 10”; none of friend's devices are rooted.
I had above friend log into my Android Market account on her phone and buy a few apps for me, and she was able to.
Another friend of mine here owns the same Galaxy Tab I do and can also not access the Android Market.
So what is going on? How, exactly, does the market determine your location. And how do I fix it? MarketEnabler and MarketUnlocker don’t work on WiFi only devices.
Not a fix, but have you tried accessing the market from a computer, and purchasing the apps through it? If the computer can access all the apps, you may be able to choose your tab as the device you wish to install them on. Not a fix, but maybe a temporary work-around.

Also, what are a couple of the apps? Could be that the market doesn't recognize them as compatible with the 7+ (due screen resolution, lack of telephony, etc.) List a couple apps, and i can see if i have access to them. Good luck!

The 3 latest apps I've tried are gReader Pro, HD Widgets, and Tabletbar Hider (root). My friend was able to buy the first 2 for me on my account with her phone, but Tabletbar Hider is incompitable so it doesn't show up. When trying to download it from my PC, my friend's newly added phone says "This item is not compatible with your device" while my tablet gives the above error. I've had the market issue with every single app I've tried.
Sent from my GT-P6210 using Tapatalk
Yep, I have access to all three from my 7+. Strange that the options for your devices are grayed out. Hopefully somewhere here will have more to offer.

I forgot to add that if I can get an outside link to the marketplace app, if it's free I can download it fine. I can even browse within the market and download free apps. I cannot search for apps (free or pay) and I cannot buy apps even with an outside link into the marketplace. <--this is all on my tablet. My PC can find apps, I just can't download/buy them because it says I have no compatible devices.

I logged into my friend's marketplace account and was unable to access the market properly. I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to be doing in Devices and Trouble Downloading. My device shows up, as well as an old Nook Color and Kindle Fire, along with my friend's newly added phone. I am now able to buy things from my PC on the marketplace using my friend's phone, but only if it's not tablet specific (which sucks, 'cause I own a tab). As far as trouble downloading, I can download things if they're free. Oddly enough, I can't search for free from my tab's market, but I can download free. If I need to search for something I have to use alternate means (GetJar, Browser, etc.). I can not buy anything, though. And that's especially frustrating since a few of the things I needed to buy are tablet only apps that couldn't be bought from PC market (using friend's phone as device).
Also, my friend tried using her Toshiba Thrive with my market account and was unable to. So I wrong, her tablet can't access the US market. Not even using her own account can she access it. So it seems to be a tablet specific issue. But only "real" tablets, because like I said in a prior post, after rooting a Nook Color and Kindle Fire I was able to download, install, and use the marketplace without issue.
