[Q] No deep sleep when docked - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have a problem, my dock is B70 and power saving mode works, it does not wake on key press.
When undocked, the TF will enter deep sleep when the screen is off
When docked it will not enter deep sleep and wastes my battery overnight, it stays in 216MHz all the time when screen is off.
All my settings are correct for power save, I have flashed to stock 8.6.5.21, and dock is on latest firmware too but still no deep sleep.
It is not an app because this is 100% clean stock by NVFLASH unbricking tools then OTA update only.
Is the dock faulty? I got the dock for xmas and had the TF since Sept so this problem is only since getting the dock.
Appreciate any help, and I have the same problem with custom rom and kernels, and with stock, all radios tested off and on, same problem.
Thanks
EDIT - Fixed, was the Keep screen awake while charging setting stopping deep sleep, disabled it and working fine again

[Q] Sleep option in power menu

The sleep option in the power menu, is it any different than taping the power button to to turn of the screen? (or letting the screen time out)
Sleep mode on a computer is a true low power state, does Android support this? I know that when the screen is off on my N1 that the OS is still running, because it has to for proper function as a phone. Now the Gtab does not need to keep running when you shut off the screen, so a true sleep mode would be great.
I have selected the sleep mode before, and to me it did not seem to take any long to "wake up" when I tapped the power button.
I think that if it is a true sleep mode, then it would be nice if we had options like a standard computer. Set the screen time out and then a separate time to enter sleep mode automatically when there is no user activity. Have it function like that when you tap the power button as well, auto sleep mode after 5 minutes or so.
It's the same as tapping the power button. Try to charge the battery full, and put it to sleep mode overnight. Do the same thing for tapping the power button. I've done this and next morning the battery is still at 100 percent full.
The battery indicator is slow to refresh upon waking back up I noticed, I guess experimenting could show if there is any real difference. Still , I would like to know from a deeper perspective, If the source is ever released someone with more knowledge than me could examine the code.
I too was wondering about the affect of sleep vs auto timeout on battery life, so I put my TnT Lite 2.0.0 to test:
(1) with sleep: after 12 hours the battery meter drops by 17% (I actually did this twice and got basically the same result)
(2) with auto-time out: after 8 hours the battery meter drops by 12%
So it seems that sleep and auto-timeout have the same affect on battery.
I am surprised to hear in post #2 that there was no change in battery life; after all, the CPU still runs, albeit at a lower clock. I do notice that when the unit comes back on -- from sleep or auto-timeout -- it takes a few seconds before the battery meter updates itself. Maybe that's the reason why in post #2 it looks as if there's not change at all?
In any case, I can live with dropping 17% over 12 hours, esp since wifi reconnects within seconds. The more I use the g-tab the more I'm amazed how well-built it is as a piece of hardware, and how much it was weight down by the stock TnT... Thanks to roebeet/rothnic/bekriebel et al for making this useable (and fun!).
I do not think the CPU runs on a lower clock when the screen is off, that is why SetCPU has the option have a profile to lower the clock with the screen off.
If we can get SetCPU to work correctly, this thing would hardly use any battery if set to minimum clock speeds.

[Q] Odd issue I started having all of a sudden

Just over the past 2 days my GTab would go to sleep and refuse to wake up. Hitting the volume rocker did not wake it up and neither did hittng the power button. So I set the screen timer to never and set it in my Malata dock and had it sitting there running clock. After 2 or so hrs. (was not in the room) tab shut itself down.
Took about 30 min of hitting the volume and power button repeatedly before it decided to reboot.
Is this something to be concerned about? is my tab about to brick itself? It just happened all of sudden and I was caught of guard.
I have been running TnT lite 4.2 since purchase with no issue outside of market. Now all of sudden this.
Should I roll the rom back to stock and start over? or is there something I need to be looking at?
I know I can adjust the screen timer, but is there an actual "sleep" setting I can adjust?

Hey, I don't know if this might help. I read this on the Nvidia dev. page a while back concerning the Tegra 250 & Tango board which is what I believe we have in the G Tablet (I could be wrong!)
"Due to a problem with the battery charge controller on some Tango units, you must charge the battery ever 2-3 weeks. If you find that the battery is plugged into the charger but remains at <7% charge, please try charging the battery for 6-12 hours. If the battery remains at <7%, please contact NVIDIA as the battery needs to be replaced.
In certain power saving configurations, touching the screen or "Android buttons" at the top of the device is not adequate to wake the device. To work around this, try inserting or ejecting the SD Card to wake the device. Failing that, you will need to reset or power cycle the Tango. Alternatively, please set the screen timeout to 30 minutes (Menu->Settings->Display->Screen Timeout)."
I have no idea if this will help, but hopefully it will.
Good Luck.
Thanx for that info. I did try pulled the SD card thinking that might force it to reboot, but it did nothing. The unit was is in fact shut down, not sleeping. It took alot of button pushing to get the unit power on. Now that it's up and running again, I have gone through all the sleep settings and it still happens. The longer I let it sleep, the more likely it shuts itself down.
Gonna call viewsonic today and see if I can get any help from their and.

Dock still not holding charge

Installed the new 3.1 this morning and it seems that the dock problem (not holding charge once the transformer screen is off) is still not fixed, I have the box ticked in the setting menu which indicates the keyboard should sleep once the screen is off. I attached the dock this morning after a full 8 hour charge, 10 hours later, I switched back on and immediately had the flashing red light.
Is it just my system or has Asus still not fixed this issue?

Unale to bring out of sleep

As the title suggests, sometimes when my tf700 has had a long period of being idle if I go to use it and press the power button nothing will happen. I can still hear it functioning though cause I've accidentally taken screen shots when trying to reboot it when this happens, the screen is just black and I have to reset it.
Any suggestions?

Try switching WiFi sleep off and see if it helps.
Wifi sleep off?
I have that happen to me more than a few times. I just end up hitting power button and just tapping the corner. It works sometimes. but it's not always faster than just rebooting. Although, if you're going to reboot, just hold the power button till device shuts off.
What I think is happening is not that it's not waking, the display is just not turning on. I noticed this by plugging in the charger, which always turns on the display and device.
Yeah, the display isn't coming back up. I've noticed that too because I can still hear events occur (ie: unplugging the charger).
Another user on here tipped me off that it could be that it's in power save mode and the dimmer is COMPLETELY down, if you bump the brightness dimmer up just a hair, even 1 notch, it'll stop it from doing it, or at least it's stopped it so far for me since I changed it.
Why start two threads on the same issue?

Airplane and Doze without wakeup when screen off

I'm using my tablet as a car navigation device. I may leave my car parked for up to a week sometimes.
Ideally, I'd like to turn the device off when I stop my car (cable unplugged or screen off) and then turn the device on when I start my car (cable plug in, screen on). Since it takes a while to boot up (and I don't know how to autoboot when the cable is plugged in on a LG g pad 8.0), I don't want to actually turn off the tablet.
Therefore, I have installed "Automate" to enable airplane mode when screen is off and turn off airplane mode when screen is on. I also have Greenify and enabled Aggressive Doze. However, even doing this, I notice that while the screen is off, the phone will still come out of doze periodically. Also eventhough airplane mode is on, Gsam Battery stats show the phone radio is on the entire time (but not data).
Is there a way to force it to doze and not wake up until I tell it to?
Also, for some reason, as it keeps going into airplane mode and back out, I will get a message saying the sim card has been removed and it will force me to reboot. If I don't go into airplane mode at all, I dont get the message. It's only from switching it on and off.
