I have a media player app that does not recognize external 1. It only recognizes sd card. So what must I do for it to play movies that are on external 1?
Use a file explorer and browse to that section. I use Es file explorer and then when you click on a movie file it will ask you what media player to use.
Or see if you can change the directory in the settings for your media app.

You can do it through adb or root explorer (really any file manager with root permissions).

Hey Rusty4k, the easiest way to put the ringtones on the Android is to connect it to your PC as a Hard Drive. Using Windows Explorer, create a directory called ringtones in the SDCards root directory (example: \Ringtones). Next copy all of your ringtones (I assume they are on your PC) to the directory ringtones on the SD card. If you want seperate ringtones for Notifications and Alarms, follow the same procedure and create root directories call \Notifications and \Alarms.
Hope this helps
Using the very most current CM9 build and using ES File Explorer. I see the folder for my external SD but when I enter it. It says folder empty but I can play my music through apollo and play my movies through the gallery so I know they are there. Any ideas?
In ES File Explorer, choose "Favorites" and then "/mnt/emmc". In ICS, the external sd is no longer mounted as external_sd. You can delete the external_sd folder as it is leftover from your previous firmware.

I am running Clean ROM, I just downloaded a mixtape in .zip format and extracted the music to my music folder on the external SD card. They showed up in my music player but when I try to play them it gives me an error saying that it can't play this type of file type...however, if I navigate to the files with a file manager(root explorer) and select any of the said music files, they open and play in the music player... wtf?!?!
With the lack of apps2sd, my Sero 7 Pro was quickly running out of internal memory. I used ES File Explorer to look around in my device to see if I could delete anything. What I found was everything I downloaded or installed was being saved in a folder called Downloads on my internal card. I created a download folder on my external card and moved all the files. I went from about 500MB free internal to about 3GB free internal.
Now, my question, is there a setting somewhere that will make all downloads default to the external card?
