Hello!
Is there any chance to add Hebrew dictionary to the official ICS?
Thank you!
WOW , google forgot the Israelis !! but why ?
We are always on delay...
On the ICS we can choose Hebrew but without dictionary....

I'm just glad they supported RTL languages. I guess you have to with what's available .
Yes the RTL support is amazing and was definitely fixed from GB.
Dictionary aside, is it possible to change input languages the same as in GB? (dragging the space sideways).
Am I the only one changing from English to Hebrew by long-pressing the space?
Try other keyboards, such as SlideIt.
They have a dictionary
Yes I know that other keyboards have dictionary but is there any way to add the words to the ICS keyboard...? There I'd an option add to dictionary manually but I will not add all of the Hebrew dictionary manually...is there an option to take the dictionary file from let's say CM GB rom and replace it with the ICS one?

OP, did you find any solution?
Thanks
Sent from my Galaxy S Onecosmic's ICS port RC 2.11
Nope...
I hope that the experts will help with that and not only with Hebrew but dictionary for all of the not support languages...

Joining the request, I also prefer to use the ICS keyboard instead of others, and moshe I also use long press space key to change languages, pretty stupid they've done it this way if you ask me, but aside from that, ICS is awesome
As far as I can gather, it just doesn't exist at the moment. Maybe in the future someone'll convert a different one to ICS but at the moment we're out of luck.
Hope so someone will lift the glove soon...

Hello,
I tried some HTC FRoyo+Sense ROMS, and really love them, but I am a cyanogenMod addict.
I am missing the HTC Sense keyboard. I know that I can find it easily on XDA, but with froyo+Sense, I have seen some cool changes on the keyboard ( to switch easily from une locale to an other, because I am using french and english all the time)
Where can I find an apk to install this new keyboard?
Thank a lot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=663608
There is an Froyo version around ;-)
Yes, I have seen, but if I am not totally wrong this a version of the Eclair HTC keyboard compatible with FroYo.
That is not the new keyboard from HTC.
To figure that, maybe you should try one of the leaked ROM Froyo+Sense, you will see some new features on the keyboard, like the button to switch langages easily. That feature is not in the "old" keyboard.apk
I hope you understand what I mean, because it's not easy to explain in english.
Did you try to rip it yourself? Download that HTC_IME mod, unzip it... and take a look at what files are actually installed.
Rip those files from one of the 2.04 or 2.06 based Sense ROMS, and push them to your AOSP Froyo rom.. see what happens.
Yes i understand this but this HTC_IME is able to do this gestures, too ;-) Or u like to have the look of the new HTC_IME ,too ?
I see i have to upload the Froyo Version here it is :
Install via Astro or anything else (Dont push)
Edit:

Oh my god, are you serious? This is exactly what I've been needing for my phone, I suppose it's time to root
I tried the swype gesture.
That's really cool and great idea, but I only want to toggle french/english.
Using this feature only allow me to browse all langages.. and I have to swype 15 times to find english...
You can change the languages you want to use in the settings

while on the topic of keyboards, is there anyway to revert back to the default froyo keyboard while using one of the froyo+sense roms?
im used to the default one with the "numbers" button on the right - just like iphone. sense keyboard puts it on the left.

HTC_IMEmod (installable on non-rooted phones) makes it possible to change languages by using the volume buttons when the keyboard is up.
Other keyboards like smart-keyboard-pro also have a button to change languages on the keyboard itself.

Crazy feature!
I really love it. Thank for the information.
Hi.
By any chance, is there a way to have the directional arrows just like in the Evo and HD2?? I have an HD2 that I changed to android. now i have a stock android keyboard
Anyone have this in apk? I like the way it switched the language from English to Chinese, which is not included in the HTC IME mod, they don't have the Chinese available in the mod,
Cheers,
Kiay...

Simple but....
So, I've accidentally added lots of silly words to my user dictionary from typing too fast or whatever.
I want to edit my user dictionary to remove them, like I used to with my old Android. I would go into the Settings > Keyboard and find the "edit user dictionary" part.
I cannot find it for the Skyrocket! Does anyone know where it is?
Thanks so much in advance!
If you are using stock input you can pull the .apk out of one of the stock roms, email it to yourself, and just reinstall. I did that with swype after a bunch of annoying wrong predictive words.

Aw. So there is no Android GUI for doing this?
There is surely a way to do this on the phone without loosing all of the words I have added that I actually want in there. Anyone??
There was until gingerbread. I could be wrong.
Dload ics keyboard and ics dictionary from the market. Use it. There may be also an add on in the market that adds the dictionary for the Samsung keyboard

I have several suggestions from the different threads. Under Language and Keyboard, I do not have the option "user dictionary"
I have and ATT Skyrocket SAMSUNG-SGH-I727
I use swype and there are so many silly words I need to delete and the "swype" key doesn't see them as non-words. But Tippy coming up for You every time or Medusa or verbose for because seem pretty silly to me!
Can you help explain your suggestion a bit more? I would like to try it =) thank you!

Is this a port of the original JB keyboard or is it the same as your ICS one with a skin on top?
From the picture above, it appears to be almost the same as the ICS, so what is the difference? eep2378 in another thread says that the main difference between ICS & JB his the prediction. Is that in here too?
Thanks

I have uploaded it to the market and this is the link. This may take some time until it will show up in the market.
I have also attached the file to the post.
Beansoft did a similar release to the Play store, but reported these known issues:
* User dictionary doesn't work on ICS (adding words will cause a fc)
* Only English, German, French, Spanish, Portugese (Brazil) and Russian supported

I started typing and it gives predictions almost when i finished the word. It also won't predict what could be my next word until I type most of the word. Not sure if it is expected to work this way.

Nice idea and i'd love to see it (specially prediction) working. But doesn't work on my N1 with AOSP 4.0.4 -> fc -> uninstalled.
Downloading now!!
Have been a loyal user of your ICS keyboard~ Would be great if you can add the same tweaks (e.g. long press enter to get smiley selections) to the JB keyboard as well.
Am I doing something wrong here? I am trying to use the Samsung Keyboard with spell check turned on. It seems like it does not correct even the simplest of mistakes as other keyboard apps do.
For instance, if I type "thee dogg", it does not correct it. Those are not words in English. Why doesn't it correct to "the dog"? Instead of correcting these obvious misspellings, it just adds the misspelled words to My Word List. Why the heck would anyone want that? I'm lost on the logic here.
Any help is appreciated.

Yes, it is in English. I can just use Thumb Keyboard which has decent correction but I would prefer to try the Samsung one due to the extra features. Just odd that it would choose to add misspelled words to your word list rather than fix them. Head-scratcher. I'm looking for a setting that changes this behavior but cannot find one.
Samsung seems to do a number of things software wise that you sort of wonder how it ever made it out of committee. They add so many cool features but then totally whiff on some of the obvious stuff.

I've never been a fan of swype, probably because I can blaze with thumb typing if I have a decent spellcheck. Don't even have to look at the keyboard.
I think it is a jellybean problem, it worket fine for me on ics, it doesn't work on my s3 also after jellybean update, I tried it now but it doesn't add wrong words to the dictionary on s3 , but on note it does!
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
I've had a lot of issue with the default keyboard. I have it set to predictive and I have Continuous typing active so it works like Swype but it's choice of words is sometime ludicrous. Even when I swipe slowly to each character it will often (25% of the time) give me a word that starts with a letter at the opposite end of the keyboard from where my swipe started.
I have started using the handwritten input for most things as it seems to work so much better than the actual keyboard.
As long as it has taken Samsung to roll out this JB OTA it is surprising the keyboard is so buggy. I reserve the right to totally be doing something wrong but I can't tell what it is.
