Hi guys.
Back when I was using my Desire HD I'd rooted my phone and installed Miui. My favourite feature was the battery bar that ran across the top of the notification bar (see http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/222/f/b/wip__by_chrisbanks2-d464k4m.png)
Anyway, now I'm on GNex and I totally miss this feature. I was wondering if something like a 4x1 widget that could display a battery line along the top of the widget to be placed on the top of a page as I've photoshopped above. The first image shows a 100% battery and the second 40%.
Anyway, just an idea someone might wanna follow up I certainly wouldn't mind paying a couple of quid for this and I'm sure other people would agree.

I had done this before when I switched from miui back to CM7 on my Incredible, but it gave my phone a lot of problems. I would love if an app like the OP mentioned were made, I really miss this from miui.

Big THANK to you noranyan for giving us this link !
I was looking for a MIUI-like Battery Bar for days, and now, it's done !
So thank you !
@kaineshutler : you're right, the color sheme is a bit iffy, but stay tuned because perhaps the dev will implement a color selection in the future...
Recently, he added the ability to put the bar on bottom.
So it means that the dev is still working on it !
Thanks for pointing this battery app out. Probably would have never found it. Hope the dev keeps updating it.
On thing I noticed good or bad is that the battery bar is always shown in any app so far, even games. I like it because some games do not show battery, and this is pretty unobtrusive.

I'm just wondering, how would one go about removing the AM/PM from the clock on the notifications bar? I know in CM there's an option for it, but what would it take to do so on sense?

This just made me realize how useless that AM/PM is and how much space it would clear up on the status bar. I took a quick look through services.jar before work, but I wasn't able to find it. I'll go through it some more tonight.

May not be exactly what you're looking for but one easy way is to enable the 24 hour option in Settings -> Date & Time.
That will free up a bit of space at least.

ok, a few years back, my windows phone had this really cool app, it was a bar across the top that was 1 or 2 pixels tall, multi colored that displayed the amount of battery left. someone told me it was in a rom, but I can't find it to save my life. maybe one of you has seen it or knows which mod, or anything about it, because I would LOVE to have that stupid little bar back.
Thanks

I decided to play around with my phone and create a new layout. I'm currently using GC 1.9.1 and would like to have the battery and time icons removed, and( unless someone can point me to a text widget) have the signal indicator colored white. Attached is a screenshot of my current layout. I'm trying to go for a very simplistic text layout. If anyone can lend their assistance I will make sure there is some monetary compensation. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys. I was just wondering if it would be possible for someone who is good at making themes for the nexus s and if they could either make a Windows Phone 7 style notification bar with the battery icon and signal ect ... I am also still searching for a ROM that is built based on WP7. I feel like it is kinda cool if u get ure phone to run as android but look like something else. I feel as if it stands out.
I also hv everything installed to make my phone look like WP7. Juz like BlackWatch89 said. The only thing left is the statusbar. Using StatusBar+ is most likely sufficient but I do not own a credit card to upgrade to full... T.T
Wud love to see a ROM built based on WP7 or myb hv the UI look like WP7.

I have created this little app out of frustration with the hardware buttons on my Galaxy S3. I don't really mind the back, menu, or Home button implementations but I am really annoyed because of the implementation of the recent apps. On a Galaxy S3, we all know that one has to press the hardware home key for a while to open the recent apps view. This greatly hampers multitasking and, honestly, it even turned me off of the idea of multitasking using the recent apps view.
But I recently used a friend's Galaxy Nexus and found that the recent apps view was not only very convenient to switch between apps, but also very effective. And the convenience was amplified by the fact that the recent apps button was ever present on the phone's screen. So I decided to implement something similar for my phone.
I came across STANDOUT , a library made by Mark Wei (xda member pingpongboss) which perfectly suited my needs for this app and made creating this app a breeze. Thanks a lot Mark!!
So here is my app called "FLYING RECENTS". It is a floating button that does nothing but open the default recent apps view. It is draggable via the handle attached at its bottom, it is semi-transparent so as to not be too distracting, and it can be closed by clicking its notification in the notification shade. Go ahead. Give it a try. I am sure people with hardware buttons will appreciate the utility of this app once they use it. Do offer suggestions if any, and I will try to incorporate them into the app as much as i can.
Made for a Galaxy S3. Ideal use case is for phones like Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S4, etc. All phones with hardware buttons running Android 4.0+ benefit from this app.
UPDATE: Version 1.01 includes a better looking drag handle. Thanks to pratyush997 for the suggestion!!
UPDATE: Version 1.02 includes a transparent notification bar icon.

Very very nice, been looking for a while for something like this.
I have a suggestion Don't u think it would be more practical and less obstructive if it was more like a gesture based launcher (like swipepad, sidebarpro).
We set it up that once u swipe from the home button upwards the screen, it will launch the recent apps. I've tried many apps but none were perfect for that simple task.
Thx for the nice app, would be appreciated if u can consider my suggestion.

Trust me it was my original aim to make this app just like that (i.e. dragging the button itself) but I cannot for the life of me make it draggable. That is why I had to include the handle. Feel free to suggest any coding workarounds if you can. It would greatly benefit me.
