How do you put Android on HTC Radar 4G? (windows mobile 7 phone without microSD slot) - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a HTC Radar 4G, and it is a T-Mobile phone that runs on Windows Mobile 7. I want to put Android operating system on it, but it does NOT have a micro SD slot, just internal memory. I want it to have a dual operating system for both android and windows mobile 7. Nobody has these instructions online, so PLEASE HELP! thank you!

It is not possible to do that. There is a reason why nobody has these instructions online.

That's strange though, there are lots of videos on YouTube where they put android NAND, for instance, on HTC windows phones like the HTC HD2 or HD7 without using a micro SD card. I think they use microsoft active sync.

The fact that you don't even know what the name of the operating system on the phone is, is directly indicative to me that you wouldn't know the first step to installing Android on a Windows Phone 7 device.

Well how bout helping then instead of insulting! That's the whole purpose of asking the question

it's not an insult
you don't know anything about the device and you haven't researched anything about it.
Windows Phone can't legitimately have android on it. Can someone request this topic to be locked?

[Q] what phone???

hiya there people...
im looking for a phone that allows dual boot. i want to run android aswell as windows. what phones do you know that are available which are good spec that allow me to do this.
many thanks
The HTC HD2 will do as you ask. You run WimMo from the handset, and Android from the SD card. Check the HD2 forum for more info!

I would say HD2 too, but it's already an outdated phone. If it's really necessary to have Windows on-board, then you could probably wait for some of the new W7 phones to be customized. Keep checking for example the HD7 development forums.

I was just curious as to why you want this? Don't get me wrong, I like both OS's but android is far ahead in OS/app development and MS is stalling by saying the next Windows will be when they focus on handheld dev.
Is there a certain piece of the current Win phones you like that isn't present in android?

Installing Windows Phone 7 on Android Phones?

Hi everyone,

Thanks.

No..
This is the first time I will say this but, if you really like Windows Phone 7, sell your Android device and get a Widows Phone 7 device. Best choice you can make
Yes. If not.... can someone enlighten me?
It will just take a lot of work and won't be near feasible to even support. Cellphone adoption rate says its better to just go buy the phone.

It's technically possible if the phone is using a Snapdragon processor, but so far no one has figure out how to hack the Windows Phone bootloader onto those devices.
So no or at least not currently.
No, because wp7 and android uses another hardware.

i belive it's called launcher 7, it's ok but not great. So far the only device that has had the WP7 OS ported to it has been the HD2 because 1.) it had a partial internal build from HTC, and 2.) the HD2 has probably the largest community support of any device aside from the iPhone.
Thanks for your quick response.
I do think the OP asked about OS not theme
So from what I understand my Galaxy ain't gonna eat WP7 and that's something that's neva gonna happen.

You'll find much better apps for WP compared to Windows Mobile. It's sad you decided to buy a phone without doing any research whatsoever.

Actually... get in touch with the other guy who wants to put WP 7 on his Inspire 4G and switch devices.
Actually just wait a while, I think I heard some where that DFT is working on a ROM for 2nd gen devices. Then you will be fully unlocked and able to customize and even have Bluetooth file transfer and so on.

2nd gen HTC's not Nokia sadly. The only real solution is if you want a phone that has Android on it buy an Android phone. If you want a phone that has iOS on it buy an iPhone. If you want something thay you can hack the hell out of buy an HD2. Or you can be like me and do all of the above
i am also looking for similar solution...unfortunately right now there is no android solution....the most recent progress is interior unlocked the phone, similar to the rooting concept. Microsft and Nokia are extremely picky about allowing changes.

Three questions:
1. If you wanted Android, why the heck did you buy a Windows phone?
2. If you already know that people haven't yet ported Android to the Lumia 710, why did you ask? That thread talks about the progress toward doing this, and says it doesn't work yet.
3. Why are you posting a device-specific question in the general WP7 Q&A forum? I mean, you linked to the exact Q&A thread relevant to your question. You could also check the Lumia 800 (typically also includes 710 since they are almost identical internally) Development sub-forum, and read the unlock/NAND-access thread there...

frustrating for him is i think the approach, he purchased a wp7 but want android on it. that's funny, you dont buy a golf cab to race against an sports car. you buy a sports car not a comparison with that car to wp7
the second thing. he want maybe to try android, because of the hacking abilities and customization and bla bla... and in the end everyone, and believe me everyone switches to the stock things that you have on your phone since the first day. that's the same with nokia and symbian, eveyone of us wanted a cool background picture, "cool" sounds, gimicks, but in the end nokia had a very good interface and backgrounds and sounds. he purchased now a nokia lumia 710 for which people sit many weeks to think of the variety of sounds and lockscreen so that it suites all of us. and after 100 background i use now the stock ones... the same is with custom accent color, i used 150 different to come to the stock ones, which suites definitely the best! thats why microsoft said 9 10 accent are enough because we get in the end wp8

Calm down, he was just trying to help.
For the record, WP isn't better than wm, two different devices for two different jobs, MS may have dumped one of them but I can state without doubt that WM is alive and kicking in the business world and will be for some time to come yet I bet the other thing to remember is that wm development kickstarted android, when droid took off all the devs split their focus, I wouldn't bank on their ever being a new " hd2 " ever again

side load .XAP files

I saw that we could side load .XAP files to wp8 device as long as we have sd card, but htc 8x doesn't have sd card support.
Is there anyway of doing that on htc 8x ?
I Don't understand why that option is only available for phones with sd card support.

Because the option for phones with sdcard is only to install apps from the marketplace, download via your computer. It cannot sideload non marketplace apps.
I thought it was possible to sideload non marketplace apps too.

Only with visual studio for wp. You must have developer account and phone registered as developer device. Max sideloaded apps is 10. It is not possible store them to sd.

What are the limitations/obstacles from installing windows PHONE 8.1 OS on my note 3

Hey everyone. I was thinking about this today.
I personally see the mobile phone/ tablet market going the PC route. you can install any operating system providing its compatable with the CPU and the hardware can run it.
That got me thinking. lets say for a minute Microsoft sold a copy of Windows phone O/S and you flashed it via Odin or some other way.
What would be the limiting factors? is it possible?
Its not only about the CPU, What about everything? you will break many stuff.
it would be a good idea to have windows 8.1 in note 3 if the windows phone os gets updated !
It would be a much better idea to buy a Lumia if you want WP 8.1......
1. Lol
2. Not gonna happen. Ever
3. You can't just install an OS like you would on a PC. Windows is windows, closed source, no device binaries for the hardware.
Wrote this S#!t via Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE

Dont even want Win8 on my pc, let alone on my phone.
Android is so much better, than all the others. So NO i'll fight this idea, with all my power (but that ain't much). :silly:
If it were a linux distro you were talkin about i'd say yes...
I think by the way samsung drive there TouchWiz android we will be like windows even Google courage people to root and miss with it's s branded phone's and nexus branch getting Ubuntu phone and maybe Firefox os I think In the future we will buy just the hardware and load whatever os you wish like DOS shipped laptop's
And regarding hardware I think even the Nokia lumia don't have hardware like our SGN3 so why not
In the end we will get all open source to drive the tech
