Samsung Galaxy S port for our HTC Desire[packages inside!]

As topic says would a port of de galaxy S rom be possbile for the desire, or is the hardware too different?

Instructions:
If you don't have Froyo installed, take a look at Requirements. Paul was so nice to provide us with a rooted/deodexed Froyo build.
1. Place touchwiz-signed.zip on your SDCard
2. Reboot in Recovery
3. Flash it
4. Reboot!
You're done, don't worry first boot will take some minutes because it has to odex everything again since the framework changed. After you entered your PIN you can chose between your regular launcher and the TWLauncher.

Dont think Samsung would use a TI-chip...

Since Samsung bakes its own chips, it would be suprising that they would use a TI. Its the Hummingbird they use, indeed a Cortex A8.

No, iPhone 4 uses a Cortex A4

Even more confusingly, the Apple A4 is allegedly pretty much *exactly* the same chip as the Samsung S5PC110A01 in the Galaxy S.
The reason is the Samsung chip was designed by Intrinsity in collaboration with Samsung, and Apple later bought Intrinsity (see here for more details).

Whats the thing u want to have this port? Better UI?

can those be ripped from the galaxy s rom?

I certainly would love a port of the Rom if it is possible.

I have a borrowed a galaxy s for the weekend. Is there any chance the galaxy's videoplayer could be "ported" to the Desire? (This videoplayer plays divx/xvid/mkv up to 720p with ac3 audio!)
I know mkv might not work, but divx should!
So far i have extracted these files that could be useful:
VideoPlayer.apk
VideoPlayer.odex
Divx.odex
Of course the apk wont install just like that...
Any ideas (both the Desire and the Galaxy S are rooted btw)

Did anyone get this working? I tried it on defrost .4 and modacos r 19 but I get stuck on HTC screen

This is getting pretty interesting.
I hope we could get some usefull things from Galaxy S and Droid X!

got it to work, remove boot.img from zip and update-script
/meta-inf/com-blahblah/update-script/
just edit out the boot.img part save and flash!

Go to sammobile.com (User Registration required if not a member) and under the firmware section tab, specify your device model and country, and you can see all the stock ROMs for your device.

i have 10.1" p5113 usa version. (not sure if 7" and 10.1" have different models) can you show me which one i download then? i saw a bunch of other country versions and this cellular south versions im not sure which is for teh IR blaster and wifi?

you can chose the one for your region from here for GT 3100 ( chose the oldest for the original that came with it) or you can select for GT 3100B up to most other versions

Yeah, I'm also not sure what is meant by "Cellular South", but it has the latest 4.2.2 firmware. But technically, all firmwares should be same right, irrespective of the country. All I could see for P5113 10.1 are:

You can try zram compression. Since memory in ram is compressed it will help to get some free ram, but the downside is that there might be a slight delay while switching between apps.

caused brick on stock rom and on inspiration rom
it may be due to misconfiguration of the app but the simple conclusion is not to use the app which caused hard brick to more then 1 member

there is nothing we can do if motherboard is bricked
only riffbox or jtag or service center are the solutions

The device can still boot up but when it reaches the samsung logo, it shuts down again. Still recognizes by my computer.

If u can go to download mode and ur Odin recognises ur device than download stock firmware for ur model and just flash it..............
I have also experienced dis and fixed it like this

Try to flash the zip, then dump the param.tar for the second time. THE MODIFIED JPG IS THERE, but the phone won't use it. I am now researching the bootloader to see why. If you don't believe me just flash the zip and then dump the PARAM partition from /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/PARAM with the 'cat' command.

doesnt work for me too... in case anyone needs a logo i'll atach the one I made (its for 9305)

It would look cool if we can have custom booting logo looking forward and keeping my fingers crossed for your project

We believe you, but sincerely the effect is the same: no new boot logo. I was also playing around with this topic some time ago... without success.

Thats why all galaxy exynos types havs no support from cyanogen rom miui omni and ...

Miui is a patchrom. You make it work on the s7 edge by fixing "rejects" and not bringing more source code.
I have a flashable miui 8 for G935F/hero2lte but it doesn't boot due to a framework issue. I suck with fixing rejects. But if someone could help me with fixing those rejects I could release a fully working rom.

Now, Released S7 edge Exynos Cyanogenmod 13.1 :highfive:

Don't get too excited about CyanogenMod they just chease to exist.
Untill some of the devs there will continue with project Linaro and have proper device tree online, don't hope too much...
