Your question was posted for less than two hours. Yes, other people seem to be having this issue. Check your Language & Keyboard settings for an option. If it's not there, you'll have to find another ROM to flash or download a different keyboard from the market. A search either in here or the general forum should show that there is a thread on this issue already posted with discussion of an alternate keyboard.

Maybe it's because the question has been asked at least two other times... it happens sometimes... this may come as a shock, but xda doesn't revolve around your questions especially when the answer could have been found by 1) search button, 2) scrolling down the topics page or 3) looking at the settings.

At least this curious fellow used the Q&A section for his obviously under researched question instead of the dev section...
I've been reading these forums for almost two years, but my first post was a week ago. Rule of thumb: type out your post. Delete it. Search. 99% of questions have been addressed.
And sure, maybe you were treated rudely, but everyone is trying their hardest to clean up the messy forums resulting from actions like these. I tell little kids all the time "you seek smart, so stop doing stupid things." Don't take it personally.

I'm sorry, but i just can't take it anymore. Every morning for the past few weeks, I'd go on xda, anticipating some great new app, ROM, or just anything. And lately, there's been a lot new roms, which i love and thank the devs very much for. But with those roms came new questions and problems. I understood that people had simple questions to ask, and those questions were answered. But after a while, the forums just turned to...uh garbage. Everybody is asking the same questions that were answered time after time, not reading and posting the same things over and over. Also, everyone feels the need to be rude to others or argue. If it's something about a rom, fine. But if it's a post saying how you suck or if it's a repeated question, don't feed the fire by adding back or acknowledging that question. Just ignore it. I'm sorry for this long post,i just looked at the AOKP Q&A, and it's 40 pages. There's absolutely no reason for it to be that long, and most of it is repeated questions and people fighting with each other. This is the internet, you're never gonna see each other, so don't be offended. If I'm breaking any forum rules, again, I'm sorry. It just seems that is in style lately.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
That's what the Q&A thread is for.. inquiries and discussions. The reason it is there is to leave the development threads clean of repetitive questions. I think you're just being a little dramatic. The search function isn't exactly top notch, and this is the internet.. so there will be people who are gonna be either lazy or rude, or both.
Oh, the drama!
Welcome to the internet.
I've been called every name in the book....its nothing new to me....I don't mind really.
People don't get me I'm just blunt and to the point...don't like it....well go ahead and call me names....just try calling me one I've never heard before and you just might get a thanks for it lol.....I don't bring my feelings here and neither should anyone else but hey this is the internet....get all kinds here.....its all good ....besides that's what the short bus is here for ......just take a seat and enjoy the ride :-D

Bottom line, as long as the dev threads are clean, then it shouldn't really be a problem. When real issues come up, we dev's usually post them in our threads. As for the q&a's, we should focus to keep those clean as well, because there can be a lot of useful information post there as well.
Well i use xda on my phone, and for some reason, whenever i try to search, everything comes up as 0 results, so that's why i had to use those threads. But you know, you learn from your past mistakes. I'm not a dev either but think you might be able to unzip the APK on your computer, replace the icon.png, rezip. then replace apk to phone.

Oh yea, the search is horrible. Doesn't even give you the option to search within the thread or for a thread in the section.
That's why there are double post. People search and can't find it, so they post it again and then we have members getting angry about not searching and double posting.
The search, searches the entire site. I don't have time to scroll through 100 threads to find the 1 for our phone.

Yeah you should be able to search within a device's forum and also within a thread itself that way rom q&a's not stated in op's don't have to be reasked all the time.

Yeah, I have been wanting to ask a question about XDA's notifications, and search on the app was not helpful. I was concerned about making a new thread, then somebody getting down on me for making a duplicate thread.
I could already see the comments, "you should search before you post" "I will not help, because you are lazy" So it goes not getting the help, we request.
Not to mention names but it's the same few members who troll the forms and flame or report everything.
I honestly think that until the search engine for this app is fix that members who flaming for duplicate threads should be ban for a 12 hours. If you think about it, that flame is going to make the thread unless because it will just be a battle between the op and the flameer. Instead of helping out the op as a community or posting the link to the original thread.

some of us actually like using our xda app (search included). paid for it so most people expect it to work. personally, after realizing that the app's search is not working, i almost always try to log in and use xda and google search before asking here.
there is no need to be defensive or sarcastic here. if you feel the need to report then do as you wish but don't expect everyone to like what you are doing. some people are honestly just clueless regarding the search engine.

You're just a big child. You see a post you don't like and cry to your dad (insert name of favorite mod here) and get it shut down. Some new member started a thread and you reported AND flamed him/her. Instead of trying to be a tyrant you should be pointing new members in the right direction. And if someone's phone is not working, you should actually try to help before crying to the mods. You hold the exact same amount of power as any other member. Having more posts or thanks doesn't change the fact that nobody should have to take crap from someone on the same level as them.

---------- Post added at 11:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:12 PM ----------
And people come here for broken phone fixes because some members actually do help or point in the right direction. If someone's phone isn't working right for whatever reason, don't turn them away just because there's already some large thread on something remotely similar to their problem. Those types of threads don't get users as much help (especially if it's an urgent issue) as a single thread.
It's like if someone was lost on the way driving to Tampa and they asked you for help, and you told them they were noobs for not knowing every detail about the trip before they went on it. And you reported them to have their car towed because they didn't get help from a group talking about how to get to places that are kind of near Tampa.

I have been seeing a recent trend lately so I thought this may help.
How to Search XDA Forms
If you are a noob, or if you just have a general question and you are feeling a little too lazy to read through other forms then this is what you do before you start a new thread about your problem.
(99% of the time your problem has already been talked about)
XDA App Search Feature
For the XDA app go to the °more° tab and click on the little eye glass and simply type in your question or some key words of the problem you are having.
XDA-Developers Website
This may be a little more difficult but stick with me. There is a bar that says search, type in your question or key words of your question and see if you can find what you are looking for. Now for the advance users look around for a topic that you have a question about in the respected form area (I.E. development or Q&A) and search key word of your problem and search that form for your answer
Recommended method you can read the form in its entirety!
Hope this helps and it’s not meant to be rude it’s a noticeable problem.
Probably will be ignored by those who need this most but thank you for saying it.

That's not necessarily true. I came from the Evo 4g and the forums over there tended to be pretty clean with that stuff. The mods were all over the forums and older users helped the new users on how to search. I don't know what the Evo forums were like when the evo first launched but at least now there isn't much of the same BS that is running rampant over here.

Knowledge is power bro! These forms will be what we make them if we let people post non-since then we will always have that problem. I am also not dumb enough to think multiple questions will not ever happen.
i take the most issue with the app. it doesn't allow the searching of a forum or a thread... it searches ALL of xda for your terms... which is useless... you might make a few searches work, but over all what you need to a search of the forum you're viewing... i mean i could really care less about the rooting issues on a WP7 device when i'm trying to search for SGS3 info...
but over all the search on the website is stellar

While I agree worth your point, its frustrating not being able to use 'search this thread'in the app, you do know you can limit it to categories at least right? For example you could specify to search just the Verizon SG3 forums instead of all of xda.

Isn't the app a version of tapatalk? Go to the more button, do the search and there should be 'advanced options' where you select the forums...

I'm not seeing that on the free version. Once I do a search, all I can do is scroll down those search results. I can't click "More" as its occupied by the search.

Then they'll have to update their app. You can do that with the full tapatalk app.

If you do go to purchase it choose your color first. What I mean its if you want one of the ICS compatible colors those are separate apps. It's the same functionality you just have to buy the theme separate. But you don't need the original tapatalk to make the themes work. Make sense?
It's would be nice if the search feature was built into the application better. Is it possible to search a specific forum rather than the entire xda?

With Tapatalk, not with the XDA-Developer app
A perk for not being cheap and supporting the site.
