SGS2 or GN for future proofing? - General Questions and Answers

I plan to put a mobile on contract which means 24 months for me. Which of those is best suited for future-proof in terms of software?

Well the Galaxy Nexus will receive updates longer than the Galaxy S2, meaning Galaxy Nexus will have next generation Android update, and Galaxy S2 won't. Galaxy Nexus will also most likely get more support from Google and such since it's a vanilla (for the most part) Google phone. Galaxy S2 has better hardware specs, but Galaxy Nexus has better software and support. I went with the Epic 4G Touch because it's the best of the Galaxy S2 phones and I'd rather have unlimited data than Verizon's current 4GB for the price of 2GB deal. So future proof wise, Galaxy Nexus is probably your best bet since Epic 4G Touch won't have as much support even with ROMs.

The software issues shouldnt be looked at as a negative,if youre on xda then you know youll have access to better software anyway(custom roms).id go with better phone.

[Q] Best android phone?

Hi,
Regarding battery life and reliability on voice calls and SMSs, which is the best Android phone we can buy nowadays?
Regards
sam sung Infuse 4G, my first choice
as of now in the U.S. @ least i would argueably say the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic Touch 4G on Sprint or the AT&T variant are the best in the states. I say the sprint version is better because, i hate AT&T and essentially they are the same phone but i would go with Sprint before AT&T
Nexus S is a pretty nice phone. Id wait for the Nexus Prime though, its bound to be good.
I agree, I would say the upcoming Nexus Prime looks real nice
The battery life is **** on all devices, with internet permanently on and heavy usage you can exspect about a day.
With internet off you can get 3+ days.
The galaxy S II is the best one for now.
try an evo 4g or 3D
Best one i know with quality/price relation is ideos x5 .although the camera is not that good , but for the price its unbeatable.
Top 10 Android Phones
1.Samsung Epic Touch 4G
2.HTC EVO 3D
3.HTC Sensation 4G
4.T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide
5.Samsung Charge
6.Motorola Droid Bionic
7.HTC ThunderBolt
8.T-Mobile G2x (with Google)
9.Motorola Atrix 4G (AT&T)
10.Motorola Photon 4G
Just for reference.
I really like my Sony Xperia Pro
Nexus Prime is quite good.
Samsung Galaxy S-III is soon to be released. Galaxy S III will come with a dual-core 1.8GHz Exynos 4212 processor along with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone will feature a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy S III will have a 12MP camera.
.Totally subjective but I think the Galaxy S II is the best phone on the market right now. Though the Nexus Prime and S III is coming if you want to wait

Just wondering..

I am going to be picking up an SGS2 for ATT but was curiouse about a few things.
1: How cross compatible is the SGH-I777 with other carriers SGS2's. I know there is a screen size difference but what else. Is the SGH-I727 more compatible or is it going to be another Infuse.
2: I would like some Pro's & Con's of both phones to compare.
I don't have LTE in my area and won't untill the eoy-12 so the LTE Radio isnt much a worrie for me currently.
Any input is welcome
The first thing is that the at&t skyrocket is a the best version of samsung galaxy S2 u can find. On the software front all the galaxy s2 are the same but the only difference is the hardware. For eg. The infuse is a single core device whereas the at&t skyrocket is a dual core device. In the whole there isn't much of a difference on the software side(Bloat is gonna be there) but the hardware is different. Ohh yeah the international galaxy s2 has hardware buttons whereas the at&t skyrocket and the infuse have capactive buttons. Hope I help and if so hit the thanks button.
Cheers

[Q] Desire or Samsung Galaxy S

I have HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S.
I need 2 phone and planning to buy new one now and will replace other after 8-10 months. Time to sell one of above two. What do you think which one should I sell now?
And what do you think between Galaxy SII, Galaxy Nexus or Razr?
I'd sell HTC and i'd buy galaxy nexus, but it's up to you to decide what fits better for you and your needs.
sell the htc, right now i will go with the nexus or wait a while for the SG3
sell both and get a galaxy s3 when its out
Thanks for the replies...
Decided to sell Desire and I will sure consider Nexus too and get it in this week.
I'd got with Samsung. For myself thats what I uses and like.
Depends on your taste tho.
Just remember with the nexus that there's no sd card slot! That was the deal breaker for me that steered me toward the sgs2. Thank god for custom roms tho, didn't realise how bad touch wiz was before I jumped ahead and bought it :/
Sell the desire and get a One X
Between the desire and the galaxyS, keep the galaxy, sell the desire, not in terms of sales value, but in terms of keeping the better one .
Out of the other 3 listed, get the galaxy nexus.
galaxy s2 ...
Sell the desire and get a galaxy s2 because the sII is a good good good, smoot, fast PHONE ......
if you get galaxy make sure it is the international version, more roms/support
You can sell yaour htc...because galaxy s is the one of history galxy family by samsung..
You can buy galaxy s2 and you have legacy to your galaxy s

Dissapointed with Verizon... might go back to ATT, what phone.....

after my horrible experience with Verizon, I still have about 10 days to go back to ATT.
see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/verizon-horrible-t2935510
Not sure what phones to pick on ATT, all the phones are a bit older, or huge or lower end.
There is Moto X, probably the closest thing to Droid Turbo.... with camera, battery, screen is all inferior
There is (will be) Nexus 6, but that thing is huge, and missing the cool Moto apps.
There is Galaxy S5, that due to replacement
There is Note 4, again huge and Samsung TouchWiz....
Looking for some input.
TouchWiz is not bad on the note4
