Like the title insists, what is the best camera application? ie, good focus, decent zoom, silent, many effects...
Snap Photo Pro, but not yet available for the N1.
I really like Camera Zoom FX. Recently updated for N1. Lots of effects, shutter sound can be disabled, easy to use, and add-on packages are all free.
Camera Zoom FX is the king right now for the Nexus One, since it is the only big name camera app out for the Nexus One right now. A memember in another thread said Snap Photo Pro wouldn't be coming to the Nexus One according to an email response he got back from the dev. of Snap Photo Pro. Something about being rather pissed google isn't sticking to their word on Android OS's being universal, including hardware to an extent(ie, you make a camera app for 2.0 it will work on any 2.0 phone, this it seems is not true).
+1 for Camera ZOOM Fx - had this for ever and it keeps getting better!
Does Camera zoom FX allow you to focus first, then snap? It kind of annoys me the way the standard camera waits for focus before snapping.

If you hold the camera button on the screen of the built-in camera app, it will focus first and then take the shot after you let go.
it's great
Are there any camera apps that can capture a Panoromic view?

HTC Desire
There is an app called Photaf 3D Panorama on the market. A free version and a paid. It seems really promising but I have experienced minor errors. But a really good app and easy to use
would like to do panoramic photos on my evo.
played with a captivate galaxy from att and the camera app was very nice for a sammy.
mainly want panoramic photos
A quick search of the Android Market revealed an app called Photaf 3D Panorama Camera in both free and paid versions. I have not tried it, however so YMMV.
Photaf doesn't even compare. I tries to make those 360 "3d" panoramas like those old quicktime "virtual tour" things. I just want a regular flat panorama. My wife's Epic does them very well and I love how it guides you through the process. I've been looking into this for a while. I'm wondering if there was some way to port the Droid 2 camera, which has this feature, to the Evo.
Can anyone recommend a camera app that name the photos with date and is equal or better in quality than stock app with auto settings?
I have tried some apps but I always go back to stock app because it seems like better photo quality
The stock HTC Camera app lacks filtered shots and a live photo option. The live photo option, Zoe Camera, was last available in the HTC 10, capable of taking 3 second live photos like iPhones.
So if you want those features, you can try Camera MX, as it has both live photo and filtered shot features. What I like about this app is how close it is in quality to the stock camera's auto mode, plus it adds all kinds of special effect filters and overlays to its feature set. Best of all, I have the option to do live photos.

I found that using screen recording while using samsung camera app in photo mode makes the field of view wider compared to video. And dynamic range is better also.(forget 4k). But good for social media sharing.. but the only problem is the zoom toggle in the way. Is there any way to remove that toggles.. maybe a modded apk or something???...
