Free internet users. - T-Mobile LG G2x

If anyone know that site ifailhard(proxy to get pass web2go), how do you get it to work?
From my previous experience, I tried it on the iPhone 3GS, HTC HD2, HTC Amaze, HTC Sensation, it worked using the proxy, allowing me to surf the web..
However, on the G2X, it keeps redirecting me to the web2go page.
Yes, the APN is set to wap.voicestream.com
ps:
why does username and password need to set to 'none' in order for data to work?

From my understanding, any T-Mobile branded phone since the G1 doesn't work with the usual proxy work around. However, this a modified version of Opera Mini that will work.

Know where I can get it?

Possible to extract ATT messaging CAB/Program

I really like the yahoo/msn/aol messaging applications that comes with the ATT 8925 ROM, is there any way to extract this program for future use on future cooked ROMs? I'd really like to use the Kaiser ROM on my Tilt, but I really like the messaging App found on the ATT Tilt ROM. Anyone know where I can get the cab file for it? Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
well im+ isn't to bad i think you can get it for free if you know what i mean
I also heard Cerulean Studios is working on an ppc version of their upcomming Trillian Astra.

I'd like this too.

Please report back with your results.

what doesn't work?
Check and make sure you are using MediaNet as your ISP. I use wap.cingular and the only one I have ever gotten to work is Yahoo...
are there any clients that'll work on tmobile's network using sms? that's one thing I always liked about old motorola phones on generic firmware.
oz
I had a oz program on my tmobile wizard and it worked great but this one doesn't work for me I have a kaiser with the stock rom and liked this on my buddys tilt?
your post inspired me to do some searching to try the wizard tmobile oz im on my kaiser. I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=260893
installed the oz on my phone. I use tmobile usa. I tried a logon and got an im on my computer saying I logged in on another device from aolsystemmsg. But the oz client seems to die. I get to receiving buddy list, and then it says communication error. Doh

im running the OEM Kaiser ROM and have had no problem using the OZ messenger (i only use it for AIM though. haven't tried yahoo or MSN). as someone else points out, make sure you are using MediaNet instead of MyISP. that was the first thing I did when i flashed the new ROM. i checked the default internet connections in everything and made sure it was all set to MediaNet (i also removed the proxy within the MediaNet settings but doubt that that would effect it).
WOOT! Thanks been looking for this and it works on my 8925 I'm using yahoo and aim.

Flawless Cingular Settings???

Just curious if anyone has a real working way to set up connections for At&t? I have used many cab files and some work for email but not other things like resco radio, tomtom etc... Just curious if anyone has any idea how to do this.
Thanks

I have always used the attached cab to setup my MMS / GPRS settings and its worked just fine for me. It also sets the DNS to use OpenDNS servers so pages tend to be found quicker (in my experience) than with the default AT&T DNS servers.
Note this only sets up the MEdiaNet settings, but thats all I ever use and its worked for doing everything I've tried. By doing this you can drop off of the PDAConnect plan and drop down to the MEdiaNet Unlimited plan (about half the price as I recall).
@mfrazzz
I don't want to hijack the thread, but I just wanted to say that it's nice to have you, mfrazzz, in the Kaiser forums.
I really enjoyed your XDA Mobile 6 roms for the Wizard. Hopefully, you'll be soon cooking up some fun stuff for the Kaiser!

No Vodafone Live/You Tube app

As most people will know; VF left out this application.
I am told this is because VF believe that business users dont like entertainment (!) and therefore wouldnt use it. Also, that WM phones dont 'do wap'. Can that be right? I am sure my old Omnia had VF Live on it.
Anyway, I think in order for me to get Sky Sports Mobile TV, I need to access it through the VF Live WAP portal.
Anyone know if this has been sorted for us on these forums? I found one vodafone live .cab but that didnt work and just mucked up my connection settings (unless I did something wrong).
This phone also doesnt have the YouTube app (it's entertainment again you see). A VGA .cab of that would be good too
Thanks

WM phone do support WAP and can be accessed from the Touch Pro on the vodafone network. However, you can not get onto the Vodafone Live Website due to the fact that their servers do not recognise the phone browser and therefore defaults to the vodafone live page that is accessed from your desktop. To my knowledge there is no work around for this.
I believe that if you change the user agent of opera or internet explorer to that of a supported mobile phone, you are then able to view the vf live wap portal pages.
Sadly, i don't know the user agent of a supported phone, but I'm sure something like a Nokia N95 would be compatible.
obviously, we would now need to find the user agent string for that device and try that.....
Apparently the N95 user agent string is...
Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95/11.0.026; Profile MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413
I have got it working, but you have to create another connection with the following settings
Make an internet connection,
use cellular line GPRS 3G
Access Point NAME: wap.vodafone.co.uk
username: wap
Password: wap
then for this connection you need to setup a proxy.
Http: 212.183.137.12:8799
weird that vodafone does something like this!
Here in the netherlands if I go to the vodafone site they say proudly that ya can use youtube as well!
I have a ( general) TP without a simlock...no I had the youtube app pre-installed. With vodafone as my current provider it works great...

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately you lost me at "User String".
But on a positive it looks like I can get this up and running. Could you kindly guide me through it (the Mozilla bit not the connection settings).
Do I install it as obviosuly my Touch Pro doesnt have it.
Thanks!
I just flashed my UK voda TP with the ROMeOS ROM and the youtube app works perfectly, no need to adjust any settings, (unlike T-mob)

In Opera you need to type "opera:config" into the address bar....
Then select the option that appears in the navigation window.
Scroll down to "User prefs" and select it....
Scroll down to "Custom User Agent" and type the text string above into the box
Scroll down the page and choose "Save"....
Now when you try to access live.vodafone.com using the wap settings mentioned you should be able to access the Live portal....Haven't tried watching Sky TV etc, so don't know how well that works.....

Would you post the exact link to it please? Did you have to do any CID/app unlock shennigans first!?
@ice-coffee:
I'm the same. I'm thinking of flashing my ROM. Is it possible to backup the current ROM if all goes Pete Tong?
I've never flashed a ROM, scares me a bit and want to do it!
where do I start?
Thanks!

We're at the same place. I'm carefully reading this...
http://lievenvw.wordpress.com/2008/...c-diamond-or-htc-touch-pro-with-a-custom-rom/
Hiya
You know what, having read all that, I think I'm gonna try and get the Youtube app working on the device with the VF Rom left exactly as it is.
I'm up for tweaking plenty, but I also need to rely on this as a phone and messaging device, and can't afford one crash or fail really.

I tried that. But VF removed the straeming media app as well. Also no VF Live so no mobile TV.
Thats ALOT of tweaking.
Hmm, OK. rock and hard place!
I'm going to try and will let you know if I can get it working. I really don't fancy the idea of flashing and installing 1000 tweaks/apps that my device doesn't need.

Toshiba TG01, 3UK (three), iSkoot free Skype. Anyone one managed to get this to work?

Hi, I have been trying to get my TG01 to use the free Skype on 3UK. what I have done so far is install iskoot, changed the registry values as people say to do on forums winmo phones but I keep getting unable to connect when attempting to login to Skype. I have notices baseurl keeps changing.
I have also changed the APN to 3services, I can go onto free internet services on 3UK like ebay and planet3?
I want to get the free Skype and Windows Live Messenger to work on this, I have not tried getting Windows live messenger to work yet, been too stuck on the iskoot skype thing, it's driving me nuts.
Has anyone managed to get these free services from 3UK to work on their TG01?
Also I have found that 3UK is now selling the HTC Hero with these free services and I think you can download both Skype and Windows live messenger if you have the HTC Hero, has anyone got the installation files to share or tried installing this on another winmo phone? does anyone know what the HTC Hero user-agent is in Netfront?
Edit: just noticed the HTC Hero is on android and not Windows Mobile, but still other winmo users have managed to get their 3UK skype working through iskoot. Anyone having this same problem or know of any possible solutions? (keep getting the unable to connect message)
Any help much appreciated

3 uk has free skype service which routes calls through a 3's special GSM number instead of internet/3g/wifi. normal skype client routes calls using skype servers but this will cost you data charges but 3's skype routing is free as long as you are on skype. Now, iskoot makes special clients to route skype calls through 3's GSM number.
Yep I think coolkat is right.
So far I have managed to get free ebay, limited Google also a few bits a bobs 3UK gives for free like weather news clips without topup.
I really want to be able to use the free skype to skype text and calls even though I have never used skype before, I have created accounts with them just for this purpose.
I don't see why it is not allowing me, I have followed the step by step instructions people have posted on other threads but repeatedly getting unable to connect. Thinking of trying the 16th March Windows Mobile 6.5 update sometime soon to see if it will help.

Wi-Fi Proxy with Authentication

does sensation support Wi-Fi Proxy with Authentication? I know Samsung android devices support it, they have this function in Wi-Fi>Advanced Settings>Proxy, but I haven't found it in DHD...
nevermind..

You should have posted this in this section...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1110
And then, read this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124427
I've posted here because I read somewhere that it depends on Rom, and I thought that android developers could have answer on it...
Yes, the Sensation support WIFI Proxy. And I'm sorry to this say but my DHD had it aswell.. Might be a custom ROM I had, I don't remember!
Are u sure it has Proxy with authentication ? or it has just proxy address input?
Ohh, my bad.. As far as I remember from my DHD, its only the Browser which asked for Auth! Not completely sure though, might not have Auth at all..
Anyway, the Sensation has the same Proxy Settings as the DHD, so if you can check it with a DHD you got your answer.
The DHD should have the Proxy Settings at Wi-Fi>(menu button)Advanced Settings>Proxy
For the Auth, I think it requested the info in the Browser, but I'm not completely sure.. Market didn't work, and syncing didn't either because of the Auth.
I found the way to surf through proxy with authentication. Proxydroid free app from market worked for me... (Root is needed)
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
