[Q] Inspire 4g Issues - I Need some help - HTC Inspire 4G

Yes, some posts are similar to my problem, and I've tried them but I have had no luck.
My bootloader says,
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.0007
MCROP-0438
RADIO-26.06.06.30_M
eMMC-boot
Oct 11 2010, 12:47:02
So...
I can't get my phone to flash anything, or boot up.
My phone boots into the bootloader fine. I've tried different PD98IMG files and they appear to install perfectly, but once I hit reboot I just see HTC with a white background.
It used to get stuck at the bootanimation. It was odd because after wiping and attempting to flash a stock rom, it would still occasionally show up. It makes me think nothing was flashing at all.
I got the RUU to run, but it still wouldn't boot up.
Before trying everything under the sun, It would occasionally boot up into Coredroid, but it hasn't for many a reboots.
I've tried formatting my memory card (regular format, not quick). I've tried making the card a goldcard and tried using another memory card.
Oddly, I can select recovery on my bootloader and get into CWR 5.0.0.1. Anything I do in CWR doesn't appear to have any affect on the phone.
I'm guessing I got the wrong HBOOT flashed, so I need to flash another through adb, but I don't know how. That may not even be the fix.
I'm not sure if the phone came with Gingerbread or not. I rooted it and got S-Off late this past summer. I did it for my brother then, and haven't touched it since so I don't remember all the things I did to get it unlocked. I'm a OG Droid/Galaxy Nexus user these days, so the S-off scene I'm not great with.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
NIGEL

Use AAHK to return to full stock. Use the one for gingerbread. Then you can start over from stock.

It's also possible that there's a hardware failure. Go to the Hack Kit thread and click the link for the IRC in the OP, you'll get the best help there.

to the guy who goes around saying, "Wow, you could've found that if you were as good as me at searching things."
Nah, I'm just playing. I did search and I haven't tried AAHK because in the Read Me it says its for stock, not S-Off but it couldn't hurt.
Thanks for the help guys. I'll give the IRC a shot after christmas. Don't want to bother those guys during the holidays.

[Q] GPS Problems after new C7.0.2 install

Sorry for this admins if this is in the wrong spot, but i have no forum rights other than here.
I have extensively researched your forum, plus Cyanmod and have done everything i can think of to get my GPS to work on my HTC INSPIRE, but to no avail. Dammm thing still says SEARCHING for GPS.
Not sure if i have to leave it for a while i did it for like 10 minutes yesterday and nothing...... I have read that 7.0.2 fixes this but i guess its not true since i still have the problem.
Can someone please help me with this?
Maybe to avoid duplication of a thread on this same topic, you can just PM me here
I am well familiar with forums etiquette (being a moderator myself) and i know how annoying it is to have duplicate threads created for no reason.
Again my apologies if this is the case
Thanks.
Javier.
Reflashing the radio might get GPS back.

If you are on a stock rom, use the att one
If you are on a gingerbread rom, use on that says gb
On the bootloader screen it says this:
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-0.85.0019
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.06.04.06_M
eMMC-boot
Have no clue what the hell that means....
Based on this....do i have to flash the ATT one?

Since you have CM7 which I believe is a gingerbread ROM, its usually suggested to flash a gingerbread radio. From what you mentioned, you have a stock at&t radio with a gingerbread ROM.
ok, when i rooted my phone, i used this (i can't post the link, but you if google exactly what i am about to put below, its the first choice):
root-htc-inspire-4g-soff-click-root-tool
Then, for the radio flashing, i found this which i want to ask if it will work....looks simplified.
How To Flash Radio On HTC Inspire 4G or HTC Desire HD
Again, its the first choice when you google that.
Let me know guys if i am heading in the right direction. I am not sure what Radio i actually have....don't want to screw it up since messing with the radio can brick i think.
Thanks

If you go into settings>about phone>software information.. and look under Baseband version, thats what shows you what radio you have.
You mentioned you have RADIO-26.06.04.06_M which is a stock at&t radio.
Download the gingerbread radio and flash it using those instructions.
It should bring back GPS.
Ok, i have the file in both .zip and in .img format....
I am having issues flashing this to my phone....
I tried doing it via bootloader and doing
adb fastboot flash radio.img
it says something * not recognized *
its like it won't read it or something....
I tried doing recovery and using the "ZIP" file thinking i can just trick it but it said updating failed
Any easier way of getting this in my phone?
Isn't there a way of just going to the FILE i have and replacing with this one?
Just a thought.

Make sure you place the PD98IMG.zip file in the root of your external SD card

ok, again THANKS SO MUCH for all your help man....
I figured out how to flash the radio (didn't know i had to go into Hboot and let it do it by itself )
Got now a new version than previous after checking....
so i am now checking the GPS on it....
Do you have a good app you can suggest that will test it for me better...showing me if it is actually looking for the satelites, ect... ?
how long should it take for the GPS to catch at first?

I hope I am not posting where I am not supposed to, but I desperately need help. I am a noob and have managed to brick my inspire, or at least that's my guess. YOUR PHONE IS NOT BRICKED. The term bricked means that your phone is a useful as a brick, i.e. if you can get into HBOOT, it's not bricked.
Gotta ask though, why did you not use the Hack Kit as its the only reliable method to root, my advice to you sir is when this gets cleared up READ AND EDUCATE YOURSELF before you really do brick your phone.
If you have a SDcard reader, pop out the SDcard and place one of the PD98IMG stock ROMs on your SDcard. From here you can reboot into HBOOT with the sdcard in your phone and HBOOT should pick up the PD98IMG and flash a working stock ROM. From here, you can root with the Hack Kit...
This will help you, read it and do what the stock ROM option...if you can get into HBOOT
I have tried doing that, it says loading image, then parsing, then goes back to the hboot screen, it doesn't say press volume up to update or anything else as I have read in many other posts. Am I doing something wrong? As far as not using the hack kit, I didn't really stumble on that until after it was to late, sure wish I had found it in the first place. Guess if I could just get it back to factory, I would accept that doing this isn't for me and not mess with it again. I am good at following directions, but nothing I have tried seems to work.

is the file named exactly "PD98IMG.zip"..you may also want to check the hide extension option to be sure its not hiding the .zip because if it is and you renamed it to "PD98IMG.zip" with the hide extension on, the phone will read it as "PD98IMG.zip.zip" and you would get that error.
haha and yeah man, we've all been there...I don't want to discourage you man, rooting is such an awesome experience and the hack kit is a pretty straight forward process, if you do the research and take the time to understand what you're doing, but lets see if we can help you out here first. I had the same issue you're having when I tried to flash a radio (same PD98IMG method you're trying to use) and it turned out to be the hide extension issue.
I had also verified that as well, I went under tools, folder options, view tab, scrolled down to hide extensions for known file types and unchecked... And, everything was correct, just verified to be on the safe side.

hmm, so its named PD98IMG.zip caps and everything? If its not working you m ay have to get a stock RUU and run it through fastboot..
This is why you should educate yourself first. You do not need to unlock the bootloader from the HTC dev site. Now you could flash the the stock ruu from the PC and then use the hack kit. Check the stickies in the Inspire general section for more help.

I understand that I should have been a little more educated first now, but I thought I had everything in order, thats what thinking gets me... I have tried running the stock ruu, but it gives the following error.
ERROR[155]: UNKNOWN ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone.
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
I did notice the Image version the program shows is on the phone is 3.13.0.0, and it is trying to put 2.47.502.7 on the phone... Is this the problem? If so, whats the solution, I am so lost now its not even funny.... I apologize everyone.

Dalton, lock your bootloader again. Boot into fastboot and plug the phone. You will see fastboot usb at the top. Then plug your phone and open cmd session. Once there type fastboot oem relock. Once that is done, try flashing the .exe file in the HTC site (original GB update), making sure that you have HTC Sync installed.
If that fails, then I would try using the HACK Kit to gain S-OFF and root. You will then be able to revert to stock or flash a custom rom...
Had a similar problem when using aahk my own fault and I took care of it. Long winded, so short of it, are you trying to install through
1. hboot or 2. on the computer using HTC rom update?
I ended up trying 2. But ended up using aahk to finish.
HTC update errored out and the recovery portion would not work, just in a boot loop on HTC logo
This was good news as aahk could take over on USB during that HTC green letters white background.
I'd suggest reading the effen manual run the tool to get it up and going, figure out what you want to do. I've used it to return to stock with s off before go back into roms.
So look at those options know what you want and then power on the phone USB connected and during HTC screen enter your number the kit should take over and give you what you asked it.
That should give you a working rom image.

Glad you have it back....yeah you'd better read and make sure what are about to do it and of course what risks are involved before making a move....
Dalton,
I would suggest following glevitan's and willm's assertion of getting s-off and root to use custom roms. Custom roms are WAY better than anything HTC has to offer, and much easier to install, if you have an issue warranty wise, you can always return to stock. Just make sure you know how to flash correctly, search for it and you will find easy instructions, and if memory serves, a youtube video which helped me greatly.

[Q] HTC Aria will not boot if plugged in

EDIT: Wrong category, sorry. I'm new.
Rooted Aria/Liberty won't turn on if it's plugged in (wall charger or USB). The orange charging light is on and the screen is lit but black. The menu buttons do not turn on. I have to remove the battery after unplugging it for it to turn on.
The phone is rooted and the problem is consistent no matter what ROM I use. I believe it is a problem with the bootloader, but I'm not very advanced with these things.
I rooted the phone with Unrevoked and whenever I boot into recovery mode it says "Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4."
Any suggestions on how to make this problem go away? I know it's minor, but it is my mother's phone and every time I'm on the phone with her she complains about it.
The only way to fix a bootloader issue like this is to reflash the stock one, which you can accomplish by sourcing an HTC RUU (ROM Update Utility) for your Aria. This will flash everything back to stock so you'll lose everything, but it will fix these issues that tend to pop up occasionally
Good luck!

I just did this and the problem is still occuring. I used the RUU on HTC's website that was the upgrade to 2.2. The process went without a hitch, but it did not do anything except change to the stock Froyo ROM. I checked and it was still Revolutionary's bootloader and the same HBOOT (6.02.1002).
I believe I read that Revolutionary is a protected bootloader and fairly difficult to remove, but I'm not sure. I've been researching this for 11 hours now. I've read a lot. >.< I'm up for a challenge, though, so if you or anyone else have instructions/link on how to replace it, I'll try.

I followed that and the only thing it did was change the top of the bootloader screen from "Revolutionary" to "AlphaRev Unlock." The hboot is still the same. The problem is still happening.
Is there a way to downgrade my hboot even though it is protected? Heck, I can't even turn S-ON because of that.
NOTE: The major problem I'm running into with all the forum posts I find is that they used megaupload to host their downloads and those links no longer work.

How to root mytouch 4g Slide NEW hboot

Well Im going to quickly explain my way I rooted the new hboot (NOT S-OFF)
In all my time trying all methods I found a couple that did things for me.
First was the all in one kit http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-mytouch-4g-slide-amaze-4g-rezound-and-vivid/
this I used to unlock boot loader and have a recovery img
but it didnt want to root my phone. So i tried other things like the bear wire method which i wouldnt rec. and came across a thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508556&page=3 that said "how to flash ics with s-on" and it was pretty simple so i tried it and it flashed a ics rom and when I went into the it was rooted! Su granted and all.
With that said I hope this can help people who want a little change until a s-off method comes about but this is a whole lot to work with for now.
Thanks to everyone and I hope this helps.

I rooted my boyfriend's phone and put bulletproof on his phone. He has that hotboot. I will post screenshots when he gets here later today.

Cool, thanks!
Unlocking through htcdev and then installing recovery and superuser.apk will give you root permissions....not hard to root anymore. If you want s-off it is a bit more tricky but even with s-on you can flash roms just have to do kernel seperately

I did the wire trick also. It took me about 10-15 times for it to actually work though. The 0.4 version of the program worked with me. Just takes patience and truly following instructions. Now I don't have to flash ONLY at my computer anymore. So glad of that!

For me, the first couple times I tried it the response was always something different (from it saying things like "couldn't find bar" to "connect device" even though it was connected). I asked around a little but since it was still kind of experimental there was no definite answer for much of anything. When I got ver 0.4 a few of the same errors happened but not as much. For some reason I found that restarting my computer and then running the program worked. Every time I did it went further in the ControlBear program, then finally when I did the wire trick the phone rebooted but not into fastboot, it just stayed at the boot animation logo while the program finished its work. I think the results vary for everyone...My SD card did crash but I was able to restore it with the info Indirect posted. It was an extra card tho, I keep them laying around.
Ok so heres the link. I still have it ---> Ver 0.4

Good day, and welcome to XDA!
What is the OS on your PC? Windows, Mac, Linux, or something else? Which drivers have you tried? I had good luck in the past with the adbsetup package, but your mileage may vary.
Hope this provides a good start.

[Q] trouble flashing PG59IMG.zip

I've been running CM9 for a few weeks now, but have decided that I want to get S-Off and open the phone's capability up some more... Anyway, I'm on a MT4GS:
HBOOT 1.45.0013
Nov 21 2011 build
Tried flashing this https://www.cx.com/mycx/share/O2W61....00_11.16.3504.20_2_release_245247_signed.zip
from weekendsr2short's mirror page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878329) of Blue6ix's stuff...(i tried autoflashing from the bootload/fastboot screen)
anyway, it loads up like it is going to actaully flash, but nothing changes on the Bootloader screen. The phone is unlocked via HTC's tool and is rooted. Any help is greatly appreciated! Please lemme know if any more info is needed.

If you're rooted, install a stock-based ROM and then use juopunutbear.

OK, that's what I was hoping to do. I noticed in the JB instructions that it said I must be a stock RUU not a custom ROM or something to that effect. I am on CWM 5.Something so a rom flash is NP. Any recommended ROMs? I.e One that worked for you? I tried the wire trick about 100 times over the course of an hour or so(on cm9.1), but then reread the bit shout the rom again.
Thanks for all the responses so far!
Any stock based ROM will do. I went with MikTouch myself and it worked like a charm! (on the 4th try so be patient....)

Which I have Also already read, but noticed this time that I cannot be unlocked via HTC and still flash pg59imgs... so im off to relock, if the stock rom method doesn't work...

well, one down, one to go. I have my phone all dialed in...now its time to fix my wife's... Thanks again Gents! (& Ladies, as applicable!)
edit: well, hers is done now... I ended up using another SD card, the original one I tried was kinda old, but the newer one I normally use worked on the 2nd try... didnt lose any data either... her sd card on the other hand was toasted and needed to be reformated... anyway, both phones are now S-Off!!

Man, that's GREAT! Once you knew HOW, the process was nothing for you. That's a far cry from most. Way to go!

yeah, Ive been running root since my MT3G way back when...couldnt stand how laggy that thing was with all the bloat... wasnt even that great with CM6 but still night and day better than stock (=hooked on rooting). then upgraded to the MT4g and now this thing... was fairly concerned about all the extra hoops but wouldve just chosen another platform had I borked it...glad I didnt, saved me some funds!
On a related note, what radios are you guys running? Are there any issues between the GB radios and ICS ones? Im assuming so, but with the custom ROMs/kernels anything should be able to be overcome I'm hoping... I know I def. had issues on CM7 -> CM9 on the reg. 4G when swapping radios...
I don't generally swap my radios around since there are only two that I'm aware of. But I DID find that the new one (when I replaced my phone) seemed to lock a signal a bit quicker but for me the original radio gets MUCH better phone reception. Depends on your phone I suppose.
(you'll be glad you went with this phone though. basically a Sensation with a keyboard)

cool, I just flashed the older one today... been having really crappy recption on campus lately (esp. since switching from the MT4G) better reception is what I'd rather have... ill give this one a week or so and see if I think its any better... I like the phone a lot already... i still use the soft keyboard from time to time as I forget the other one is there, but it comes in really handy on certain sites...
Hello guys, I've been lurking the forums for hours trying to find a thread with an issue close to mine, and this is the closest I got. I followed all the necessary steps on the first page, but the problem I'm having is when I try to flash the PG59IMG.zip file, it says "Loading... PG59IMG.zip", but then it says "Checking....PG59IMG.zip" and afterwards it says "Wrong zipped image!" Any ideas what it could mean? I just want to get it back to stock. Any help is greatly appreciated.
THIS MAY HELP YOU
Thanks for the link. It said I need to relock the phone in order to flash the image, but when i type "fastboot oem lock" into command prompt, I get a message saying 'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command, inoperable program or batch file." I'm guessing this means my fastboot wasn't set up correctly, but I don't know where to go from here. As always, thanks again for any help or advice.
The third post in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27796375
It was made for the g2 so don't use the drivers in it, but it will at least give you an idea of what to do

Does fastboot work like this
./fastboot oem lock
On my PC some of my fastboot commands need that.

Thanks so much for your help guys. I followed the instructions on the pathing link, and the phone is currently flashing the image. I'll post a final time once I can confirm everything is fine.
