I tried to update some app from the android market and when I restarted my phone it will not start again. It stops at the white screen (with the green HTC logo). I pressed the volume down button along with the power button and it showed me the bootloader menu where Iwas able to see that it couldnt find the image file again.
I downloaded the RUU:
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed
and got the rom.zip renamed to PG88IMG.zip, the following occurred.
When it gets to the HBOOT, it showed:

Then it hangs forever showing updating (in front of BOOTLOADER). It takes no input and never returns.
I am using this RUU:
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed.
I bought my phone in the UK but it is not tied to any network. Could it be because of the RUU?

Try install a later RUU like the 1.47 (0.98.0002 hboot) one.
Also have you tried to run the RUU in window?

Got stuck on step 17. My phone will NOT go into fastboot after it has been unlocked. I made sure the fastboot checkbox was unchecked. When I hold the volume down button and power button it goes into the menu, automatically runs some script, and tells me this:

hi i was new here in sensation xda thread. I was drop off my samsung phones and change to HTC. My phone is XE i kinda have a big problem, coz due to curiosity i wiped all cache i do factory reset and i stuck on boot animation screen of HTC. but i can access recovery when i get into the recovery it appears to be like this

put the rom.zip in the root of the sdcard
boot in the bootloader
navigate to recovery
install zip from sdcard
choose zip from sdcard
navigate to the rom.zip
choose it and flash

Hi,
Place the ROM on the root of your sd card.
In 4 EXT,go to wipe and format all partitions(except sd card)
Then, install ROM.

I have a stock HTC 1 S supplied by Orange. Unfortunately for me its stuck in the boot loop that everyone has mentioned before.
Prior to the problem the battery was down to 4% and I shut it off manually. On starting up it began the boot loop.
Now, My phone is stock with no addition ROM added etc. I haven't unlocked it or attempted to modify it in any way. I put it into a local shop to attempt to repair - No Joy. They then sent it to HTC (allegedly) and had it returned with HTC UK saying there was nothing they could do.
The only thing I can do is access the usual white boot menu showing the following

you may be able to bring it back to life on your own by putting a new rom and boot.img on it. What do you have to lose?

I bought the phone a while ago from someone else who must have put bootloader on there but I have no idea what it is or how to use it and I didn't deliberately open this page, it just appeared yesterday and I can't get rid of it.
I tried to unlock bootloader because I thought maybe nothing worked because it was locked but when I followed the instructions on htcdev.com it came up with this error message at the final stage,
'target reported max download size of 800227328 bytes error: cannot load 'Unlock_code.bin': No error'
