Anyone else have the issue of not being able to get pop email from cooked Rom's? I can get exchange mail, I can get phone calls, and hear the system sounds fine. I just cant get pop mail to work. I have tried about 4 or 5 Rom's, and all the radios listed in the sticky post. Please let me know how you fixed it, or if you know how to fix it.

Maybe it is more of a setting for the POP account than the ROM's / Radios you have tried.
Maybe the POP accounts settings or port or something else - you are using improper settings? Hard to say...
Maybe someone will chime in with news about 4-5 ROMS all having problems with POP email.
need to go through the account settings in outlook to make sure you are using the right connection. 99.9% sure it is not the rom, just the connection settings
Its the same setting I am using for the one rom that will work. And its gmail, and verizon, so it auto downloads the settings from the web.
Did you make sure you have gmail setup to use pop3 connections?
yes I did. On the rom it works with, I can set it up and work with radio .09, but if I just change to any other radio like .11 or .17 or any other is will stop working. Then change back to .09 it will work again.

email just broke today
My email was working last night as late as 11 pm. As of this morning I can't even get email to launch! I have tried launching via the today screen, windows live and thru the programs pull down. Now get this, I did a hard reset and reflashed and did a restore of the last good working backup..same thing! I'm running dutty's v7b hybrid rom. Also, voice command just started giving an error immediately on a soft reset. i don't know if this is related or not, but I just started searching for email issues and saw this thread. I have both hotmail and yahoo mail account configured. This after about of week of working fine with a replacement tilt for te 3G bug. Is it possible for AT&T to send something via an update that causes problems for cooked roms? I mean why won't a reflash fix this?

One thing that I had to do with my comcast email was to forward it to a hotmail account. Nothing I tried would get my comcast email to work on the tilt. This works(or worked ) great for me. My issues are some sort of conflict with apps or a memory leak of some sort, but in general I suspect some email providers don't support pop for whatever reason, so maybe give the forward to hotmail a try.

Perhaps it may help to be a bit more specific with the problem that you are having? Are you getting any errors or is it that the mail has simply not just appeared? If the latter is the case, not to insult your intelligence, but be sure to go through gmails settings and first of all enable pop...secondly, if you'd used pop somewhere else prior to that phone, you have to tell gmail again to re-enable pop mail even if it has been downloaded (I'm paraphrasing the wordage). You'll have to do this each and every time you switch the device/software you use to get your pop mail. (Imap wouldn't but imap currently is screwed from gmail's end)

Every time I tell it to do a send a receive it would disconnect the 3g, reconnect it about 2 times, then give a issue with the 3g connection. And it’s odd because 3g works with everything but pop mail. It works for internet, and exchange email. It just when I do pop email. I have only been able to get pop to work with official att ROMs, and with radio .09

Ok, now I know exactly what you are talking about. I've had the same problems before, it seems as if autoconnect for some reason when I flashed didn't work fully. What I had to do was install the carrier settings cab that I kept over from my previous device. On some roms this happend for me, on others it didn't, it probably has something to do with the rom being HTC based or AT&T based. Try installing the Cingular/AT&T carrier settings cab found here.

For what its worth since you're flashing ROMs, try flashing Q-Mobile 1.2 (sounds like you'd want the Tilt version since you're a US AT&T user). I can confirm that pop mail works just fine so if it doesn't work for you there then you can safely assume it is something other than your choice of ROM brand that is causing the issue. Cheers,

This is my first post, and I would greatly appreciate some help. I'm clearly quite a rookie at this. But I rooted my Verizon gs3 quite some time ago, and everything has run smoothly since. I did use it while in the UK on GiffGaff Mobile, and still worked fine. Now I am using Simple Mobile.
Just today, I installed the CyanogenMod 11 KitKat. I am able to send & receive MMS. And I can receive SMS, but I cannot send SMS.
I have tried changing the SMSC number using the dialer, but it keeps reverting back to "+12063130004",145 . I have also tried using different SMSC codes using the GoSMS app. I've played around with the APNs as well, but from the little that I know about this, this only has to do with MMS not SMS, correct?
Don't know what else to do, and I can't find any threads that have helped me yet.
PLEASE help, and I would greatly appreciate it.

If you toggle airplane mode or reboot the phone can you send an SMS? I haven't played with my phone at all lately but suddenly similar symptoms have manifested. I can send 1 SMS every time I reboot, but then it stops sending SMS after that one. Is this true with you? I haven't found a fix yet, but I'm trying to flush out the problem completely.

I figured it out!! Finally! I had the same issue - I was able to send one message, then suddenly nothing. Do you have Google Voice+ ?? If so, try disabling it. You cannot disable it through the Settings>Apps - you actually have to go into the App then and select disable.

I don't see "Google Voice+" Are you referring to Google+ or a different app altogether? This is driving me mad.

Its just called Voice+. I know, I spent hours trying to sort it out. Other than that and messing around with the SMSC number, I'm not sure what else would be the problem.

So what do you mean by go into the app? if I press menu> manage apps, and then under the tab "All" at the bottom there is a "Voice+". I'm on CM10.2 and it appears that the "Voice+" is part of CM. If I open my app drawer and scroll down there is no app called Voice+.
There is Voice Dialer and Voice Search, but nothing else in the app drawer with a similar name. If I'm not going down the correct path please let me know. Thank you.

Hmm, that's odd that its not showing up in the app drawer. It should be. Do you use Google Voice at all? On my phone, the option to disable or uninstall is blocked when I go into Settings>Apps. But if you don't use the app and your phone allows you to, maybe try disabling and/or uninstalling from there?? Let me know, and I'll keep looking.

So, I have the option to force stop it. (no change in results).
I've even downloaded the "Google Voice" app, which added the "Voice+" app, opened it, confirmed that it was on disable and still no change.
I have no idea why this problem started this morning since I don't believe I am any changes to my phone the past couple days... I really don't know what information I can provide to help troubleshoot it...
I'm having the same exact problem starting this morning. I can send exactly one message and then I have to reboot or turn airplane mode on/off to send another. Everything was working perfectly fine yesterday, though. I've tried deleting my phone's cache in the recovery menu but it hasn't helped.

Are you also on CM11? What is your carrier? I've done a factory reset and upgraded from CM10.2 to CM11 and still haven't been able to ride my self from the problem. Nothing I have tried has changed anything. I made a new thread since it seems that the original purpose of this thread has been answered via the disabling of Voice+. Carrier: Verizon. I was initially on CM 10.2 but both rolled back to CM 10.1 and upgraded to CM 11 to see if any of those fixed the problem. Neither did and I reluctantly (for now at least) went back to stock and unrooted my phone. Texting is working fine but I absolutely hate TouchWiz. I have no idea what could have caused the issue and, like you, I didn't make any changes at all before it happened. It literally appeared out of the blue.

OK this really does seem to work for me as a temp workaround...it sticks through reboots and all. Go to the dialer and enter the trusty old *#*#4636#*#* then go to phone settings and change preferred network type to CDMA only then back out and reboot.
It kinda sucks cause it's slow on the go, but at least I can send texts reliably. I have WiFi most places I am anyway.
If anyone figures out a real long term fix please post!!!

sorry for such a late response. I solved this by just disabling Google Voice+. It is just called Voice+ in the app drawer, and when you open it, just tap 'Disable' & reboot the device.

Some people don't have voice+ and the solution you used isn't an option for them.
For those of us less fortunate than you, It seems you can fix the problem by loading a TW ROM and flashing the MB1 firmware. Then you can return to CM
I had XVoice+ for Exposed on my SGS4, it stopped me from sending texts. It was ok when i uninstalled it. I hope that might help.
Hey guys. Ia anyone having any issues with background data? I don't get push Notifications When im not on WiFi. Even when I'm on WiFi, my screen needs to be on to retrieve them. I've tried toggling the background data setting on and off. Music seems to work fine though, streaming. Tried prl and profile updates and even hard reset. I also installed the software update. anyone else having the same issue? Ia there a setting I'm missing?

I have something similar, it seems to update but only when it wants to. Specifically with some apps data works only when on WiFi. For Example Google Play Music takes forever (I mean 10 minutes to load one song) to load songs on Sprints Network, but it is immediate on WiFi. Same thing with Facebook App, it will take 15-20 minutes to load data when in Sprint Network. As soon as I connect to WiFi it works immediately. Other apps work great, others don't.
Had the same issue. Sprint told me to do the ##72786# trick. Seems to work so far.

Grrrr i don't get it. I tried that, still a no go. Google play music, google wallet and hangouts don't work period on lte. But voice search and the google app works just fine. No push Notifications on anything except on gmail for some reason. So frustrating, i don't get email notifications for work which is bad. I blame sprint's software team because my sprint note 4 and the s6 on verizon and att have no such issues.
I also posted a thread describing the same issues. All i know is sprint bette be working thier asses off on this because this is ridiculous i miss my gvoice txt for work because of this. If a customer cant txt me than i lose money. And im blaming sprint right now
Not to mention that the workaround is to use wifi. To use wifi!! Did they forget that there is also a major bug with wifi draining the phone like crazy as well. Pretty messed up

Guys please contact your carrier and samsung this is a bug affecting a lot of phones. I'm on the 4th and it is still an issue. The first 2 were black 64gig models and the last 2 are gold 64gig models.

I am running on Cricket and have not had any MMS issues until I got the 8.1 update. I have tried different APN settings and they don't seem to help any. I have also tried to use textra but it will not send or recieve MMS. I have also Reset to Defaults but no changes made there.
Any suggestions on what might be the issue?

I am glad to hear that it isn't just me that is having the problem. I guess it is some sort of bug in the software.
How do FB messenger and Snapchat send pictures? Because those apps work fine, it's just MMS via text
The issue seems to be only related to Cricket and the 8.1 update. It's clearly a bug that's affecting the APN settings. In some cases a duplicate APN is created automatically on update and the issue is resolved when this is deleted. Some other users have reported that they need to create a duplicate APN after updating and then when they delete the duplicate the problem is solved. Bit of a long shot but maybe it works!

It will be fixed with the november security update. I found this out by one of the tech guys on the googles pixel forum. you might already have it . It was released on 6th. Im still waiting for the update to hit my phone.
Fixed ! Need to delete the second APN. I conference Google an Cricket wireless together and let them fight it out over the phone.
I have two apns both internet:ndo. Do I need to have root or anything? And is it simply just deleting the second entry??
I had the same problem (Cricket and 8.1) and also had the duplicate APN appear. Deleting the 2nd APN didn't work for me, so I deleted both (so I had no APNs), removed and reinserted the sim card, and added a new APN manually following the directions from the Cricket website.
You do not need root to do this.
Last few weeks, textra has stopped receiving MMS along with any other 3rd party SMS apps. I have everything up to date with no mods or romsom the phone. I use get MMS just fine by activating a new SIM on a vzw phone. I tried this method again to no avail. Any help. And yes I did search the forums and google. Is this an isolated incident? Thanks in advance

I had an issue the other day where SMS's wouldn't send, with the error 'No sim selected for SMS' or something like that. A reboot sorted it, though. (This is on a DUGL model)

I switched to a pixel 2 XL. Everything works as it should. It's kind of nice. Still have the U11 though.

Check your APN settings just to make sure everything is straight. The incorrect APN can screw things up. If you have another Verizon phone, compare the APN setup.

You have to be rooted to change the APN because you have to add 2 lines to the build.prop to allow an app like APN Settings to add a new APN. I have the same problem. My APN was slightly different from my wife's. And still you can't change an existing APN only add a new one and delete the old one. I've tried it all. I'll save you the trouble and tell you that didn't fix the problem. I have talked to Verizon and it shows on their end that I'm receiving the MMS message but it never shows in Android Messages just says it expired. If I push and hold on the it has expired message it shows received info. Did find a forum where people with the first Pixel phone were having the same troubles. Google released an OTA for that phone to fix the bug in Oreo but only in that phone. I can only think that this phone has the exact same bug, just my problem only presented itself a month after upgrading to Oreo. I have noticed if I open Android Messages and leave it running in the background and then use Verizon Messages+ to send myself a picture message (never had a problem with mMS on Messages+) and go to the recently opened apps list and select Android Messages the picture shows up no problem. But as soon as I make Android Messages the default messaging app I no longer get MMS messages.

March is exactly when my MMS stopped working. I went to a Verizon store where I know a guy that works there. I asked him if he could make sure my advanced calling features were activated on there end. He did something and said you're all set and gave me a new SIM. I activated it in my wife's old phone that had working advanced calling and mms messages. It didn't fix my problem, but there is a guy on here that swears by that fixng the problem. I have also seen where people have called Verizon and had them turn off their CDMA provisioning and that helped. I haven't tried that yet. I've basically have said F it, and I downloaded the top 10 messaging apps for 2018. I found one that works that I like called QKSMS. not real flashy but it's a newer app and he is still adding features as he can.

He did something and said you're all set and gave me a new SIM. I activated it in my wife's old phone that had working advanced calling and mms messages. It didn't fix my problem, but there is a guy on here that swears by that fixng the problem. I have also seen where people have called Verizon and had them turn off their CDMA provisioning and that helped. I haven't tried that yet. I've basically have said F it, and I downloaded the top 10 messaging apps for 2018. I found one that works that I like called QKSMS. not real flashy but it's a newer app and he is still adding features as he can.

I've done the SIM card thing before and it has fixed my problem untill I updated the system. Since then I've been in mms hell. So, I'm going to try what worked once before and might give vzw a call about the CDMA provisioning again. I will get textra again... One way or another

The guy did say after he got the problem fixed, if he did any flashing or updating to the phone he pulled the SIM out and didn't put it back in until completely finished and he hasn't had the problem since. If you do find your solution please let me know. I have spent hours trying everything. If yours stopped working in March like mine, May I ask when you got your phone?

I will definitely try to keep this thread updated. I have spent hours as well to get things working and countless factory resets. I did notice that my apn settings don't have a MMSC which is suppose to be http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms as well as a mms port 80...so maybe the new Sim will correct that cause I can't
But as a recap so far I RUU back from 2.42.617.6 to 2.42.617.1, my next stop is new SIM with all goodies activated and ensure CDMA provision is off

Alright thanks. I've also ruued back to 2.42.617.1 and all the jazz. I am able to add new apns and manually put in the mmsc and port number. That never helped. My dad's Pixel 2 doesn't have a MMSC or port number but my wife's Moto G6 does.

I find that interesting... I'm surprised that mms is such an issues, carrier, os, or even manufacturer cause it's basic phone function since mid to late 200s!?

What really blows my mind is why some apps work and some don't. I was digging around the database for message storage. I noticed when the message went through I would get one field that said something like vdn.wap.mms. if the message was never received it would show like http://random IP address/ servlets/MMS and at the very end would be msg_id=? It would also show in the pending field of the database.
