Please read entire OP of the hack kit. I'll give you a hint.. IRC chatroom..they will be able to give you the best advice possible.

If the rooting process worked correctly.
Here is the rooted updated ATT Gingerbread ROM. Just place PD98 in root of SD card then go into bootloader and let it do its thing. When it ask to install volume up for yes. AS ADVICED " RESEARCH"
Place it in the root of your SD card (you will have to remove SD card and use adapter to move zip file to root of SD card if PC does not recognize phone with USB cable) and power phone off then power back up holding down power button and volume down button at same time. Phone should go to bootloader then it will recognize the PD98 zip file and ask if you want to istall. Volume up for yes and it will do its thing. No need to try to get into recover phone will do it itself with the PD98 zip file. Zip is (ATT ROM 2.47.502.7 w/Radio - 26.10.04.03_M)
This is for Rooted Stck ROM

NO NEED TO RENAME JUST DOWNLOAD AND PLACE IN ROOT OF SD
Hope it helps
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT ANYTHING ON YOUR PHONE IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING.

Then you can flash a custom ROM if you like.

iv have put my sd card in my computer an put what was supposed to be a pd98img file on the sd card. i then ejected the sd card and place it in the phone, pullled the battery. put it back in and put the phone in hboot. it searches for the file but then comes up and says, either no image or wrong image. or both. what now?

you didnt extract the zip file did you? place the zip in sd root without extracting, also do not place in any folders. If it didnt work then something went wrong in the rooting process. You may have to go to the IRC chat talked about above.

same thing happened to me. found this int he stuck in hboot sticky
Alternate-Flashing of RUU
This is for those that don’t have access to an adapter to place files with. This should work whether your S-on or S-Off
RUU’s: http://driphter.com/index.php?topic=3872.0
1) Download your RUU from above
2) Boot into Hboot
3) Connect your phone to your PC
4) Select fastboot
5) Run the RUU program
this has worked for me multiple times.

I think my htc wildfire is kinda bricked...

Hi,
this is my first forum post here and I really have a big problem...
I installed a custom rom with rommanager and if I turn on my phone it says touch the android to continue but when I touch it nothing happens
So I wanted to install the original rom I backed up but that is not possible because everytime I go to Hboot and try to open ''install from .zip'' or something in clockworkmod it just shows a black screen and when I hit the power button it goes back to the option menu from clockworkmod, Now I tried to do the things for slcd screen and everything but it doesnt work, when I put the update.zip on my micro sd the Hboot says ''checking sd card... no image or wrong image!'' so I changed my micro Sd card and now when I get into Hboot it just says nothing and when I click on recovery still black screen and not working I really need help asap!!! so is there a way to install my backed up original rom on my htc wildfire with my pc or a way to get clockworkmod working??
Please help asap!!!
Thank you
You should be able to fix your phone by running the exe on this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877091
it'd be this one http://www.filefactory.com/file/b4b...5.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
As long as the setup can detect your phone or if it can't just be at the bootloader screen while running that setup, it should detect that and reboot or switch to RUU mode in bootloader

[Q] EVO help

posted in the wrong area before......I think I have killed my phone. I used the unrevoked method to root my phone and thats as far as the customizing went. I tried to remove it and now my phone will show the first evo screen and then go to a triange/exclamation screen! I have tried to load the stock Rom, applying a update.zip, using the pc39img flash. and nothing works. Can someone throw me a bone and help me out. Also I tried to recover from a backup, didnt work. and if recovery is selected from the HBOOT menu, it goes to the red triangle screen with a E: cant open/cache/recovery message.
Sorry if this is info overload just trying to give info so i avoid going down the wrong path.
EVO
Anyone. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
It sounds like you need to reflash your recovery. I'm pretty sure I got that screen when I reinstalled the stock RUU when I had to bring my phone in to Sprint when I tried to access recovery. I'd confirm it with someone else though, I'm a relatively new rooter.
I dont know what to do? I am a total noob when it comes to this and I just want a regular unrooted working EVO. Anyone with any steps I could go through to fix it?
clear your sd card make sure nothing is on it. make sure the sd card is formatted fat 32. now put the PC36IMG file on the sd card. Put the sd card back in the phone. with the phone powered off hold down on the phone the power button and volume down. then you should see a white screen with 4-5 different options in green letters. Now tap the volume down and you will see a bar on the right side of the phone its looking at your sd card and unzipping the file. it volume up to activate the update when it says to. and then let it do its thing and hit volume up to reboot. then you should be at a stock. no root.
Tried it with no result. I think I might need a catholic priest

Hboot frozen on stock non-rooted

I have searched the forums for more hours than I'd like to admit and cannot find anyone with this same problem. When I boot into HBoot, I cannot toggle up or down and the only way to escape the screen is by pulling the battery. I have USB debugging on and the phone is set to charge only. Driver up to date. Fastboot disabled. Bubbys seemed to have gotten me further as the .zip was actually pushed to my SD card but, HBoot never searched for the .zip (or anything for that matter, just the frozen screen again) When using the one click method, the phone actually loads a slightly different screen that has FASTBOOT USB, when I push the power button, thats when I get the normal HBoot screen that locks up. AceKit flashes text in the command line when doing Step 2, but I cannot proceed due to the HBoot issue. Any help is always appreciated. Thanks!
Try booting with the SD card removed.
well that definitely got me a working HBoot menu. Looks like I'll need another sim card for this. Thanks for your help.

delete all the *.img files from the root of the sd card, so that Hboot does not find anything an try to install it.
You probably have a bad img file on the card...
Try to make a another gold card with a another micro sd card some micro sd cards just wont work thats what i had to do it would push the zip. but never find it.
If you have to much trouble go to attn1's irc channel hear http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#liberatedAria

problems after root.

I have spent the last couple of weeks reading up on rooting using adb. I successfully rooted my thunderbolt last night using two youtube videos by nat3mil. Everything went fairly smooth and I am now rooted but then I screwed myself.
I wanted to download a faster sense based rom using rom manager. I first tried lightningsense 1.8 or something like that. I rebooted and the phone wouldn't go past thre phone activation step of the phone setup. I thoughtt something was wrong with the rom, or I had to delete the old rom, so I backed up to the original rooted rom and then downloaded a cynogenmod7 rom and went back and deleted the first rom off of my card completely.
Cm7 booted fine, but I soon realized that I have no service. Data or net. I used googlr and the search function and found out that I also need to upgrade the radio seperately? From what I gather, I need to flash the mr2 radio only and not an entire ruu. Can someone confirm this for me and possibly point me in the direction of a downloadable file containing only the radio that I need? I don't have access to an adb equiped computer for a few days and the only two roms on me sd card require a radio that I don't have on my card.
Thanks for the help. I'm new to adb & obviously over looked a step or command.
without installing adb
Our computer is still in storage from moving. But I do have access to a computer close by. Just don't need to install adb unless absolutely nessesary. Once I find a downloadable file, I hook phone to conputer as disk drive, then move file to the root of my sd card and just reboot the phone using volume up+power?
I'm assuming that it's not possible to download the file directly to my wife's phone then put her sd card in my phone and flash it without a computer due to the fact that a computer is required in order to move the file to the ROOT of the phone?
The file needs to be on the root of the sdcard not the phone. You could do what you said with your wifes phone and swap the sdcard or you could use WiFi on you Thunderbolt to d/l. Radio links will be in the thunderbolt dev section or loonatiks sticky in q&a has a link to a page with a good list. Sounds like you need a MR2 or newer radio.
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt
So the file doesn't need to be renamed? So leave the mr2 in the file name & flash from bootloader/recovery, search for file on SD card, probably in dcim or download folders and select file that says mr2 by pressing power button?
Just tried:
Installing update.....
Installation aborted.
Any suggestions?
It needs to be renamed to PG05IMG.zip
Oh yeah and you do NOT flash that from recovery. Bootloader and recovery are not the same thing. Thats why you got installation aborted. Power down the phone completely. Pull battery and then put it back in. Hold volume down plus power untill the white bootloader screen appears. You may have to scroll to bootloader with the volume keys and select by tapping the power button. Once there it will automatically find the PG05IMG.zip and ask you to press volume up to update. When its done it will say press power to reboot. Then when the phone boots you should be good.

i had been powering on while holding volume- and it was taking me to the white screen. i tried pressing the power button there and it quickly flashed to another screen and tried to flash a pg file and didn't work. the proccess happens so quickly that i can barely catch that it is a pgo5 file that doesn't work before it takes me back to the first white screen.
since that didn't work, i guess i misinpreted some misinformation from another site that said to flash radios from the CWMRecovery menue, so form the white screen I scroll down to recovery and hit power and it brings me to CWMRecovery v5.0.1.0. tried flashing from there several files, and all say unseccessful or aborted. I must have F*ed something up really good now, because in my fiddling around in CWMRv5, now no matter which of the restored roms i tried to flash (shows flashed successfully), when i reboot, they all take me back to the HTC screen and stays there. doesn't even attempt to load phone's menue or get to language/activation steps.
i thought that wipe data/factory reset from the CWMRv5 menue would take me back to the original rooted ROM, or at worste case, take me all the way back to the unrooted factory phone. Tried that, same thing, HTC menue for over 15 min straight and still nothing.
When turning on by holding power & volume- :...
When turning here is what i see on a white screen with three skateboarding droids on the bottom:
....................................................
MECHa XD ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.04.2000 (PG0510000)

HBOOT
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET

would selecting the factory reset do anything useful, or would it be the same as selecting factory reset from CWMRv5 (which appeared to flash fine, but no results)?
First of all to get restore to work go to this thread and download CWR version 4.x.x. Version 5 is borked right now and won't restore.
If you download the file to a windows pc that is set up to NOT show file extensions(.exe, .zip, .bat, etc) leave out the .zip but make sure it is PG05IMG.zip EXACTLY (0 = zero) Put that on the root of the sdcard *not in any folders* and boot to the bootloader per usual. When you get there *STOP* *WAIT* don't touch.anything. In the list that says recovery, fastboot, etc if bootloader is not on the list you are already there and it will find the file. Sometimes it loads into fastboot first so you have to select bootloader manually. If bootloader isn't on the list you are already there. In the bootloader it should find the file and ask you to press vol up to update. This will get you a working Clockwork Recovery so you can restore backups.
This same process applies for radios.
If it is not finding the file you have it named wrong somehow. Most common mistakes are PG05IMG.zip.zip (because of hidden file extensions in Windows) or PG05IMG .zip (note the space before the .zip.) It IS case sensitive.
Edit: I forgot to mention if it does that check so quick you barley see it **it is not finding the file** There is a problem somewhere in the name or it is not on the *root* of the sdcard.

Stuck On Boot Screen (HTC quietly brilliant)

I just installed the Android Revolution HD 6.5.2. On the first boot, it's been stuck on the "HTC quietly brilliant" screen for like 15minutes. Did I do something wrong during the install? How do I fix this? Prior to the install, I used superwipe, flashed my phone then installed the Android Revolution HD 6.5.2.
Did you install the right firmware before flashing rom?

I may or may not have. Could you care to elaborate about the correct firmware? Thanks, it would help a lot. Kinda crapping my pants right now :/

"It's necessary to flash new firmware package before flashing this ROM ---
--- Firmware package contains newest radio for 6.5.x ROMs ---"
Need to know what is your cid in order to install the new firmware but it should be this one
Download firmaware and put on sd card. Then reboot into bootloader while pressing vol down + power button. It will install the right firmware. Be patient untill the entire process is finished and prompted to reboot.
The screen may goes black a couple of times before the process is completed, no panic and just wait it to finish.
Later, remember to delete the PG58IMG from sd card.
Hope it helps
That's the exact guide I used to root my htc sensation. The problem is, my phone is stuck on the boot screen "HTC". Is there a way to access the SD card to reverse the installation of the rom? Thanks.

Need a sd card adapter or another phone
Is there anyway to start my phone? Is it bricked?
if you are able to reboot into bootloader you are not bricked.
Pull out the battery and reinsert, power on while pressing Volume down + power button and tell me what happens and what it says.
It boots into 4EXT Recovery. The only zip i have on my phone is superflash and Android_Revolution_HD-Sensation_6.5.2. I tried formatting all the data, and doing a clean install of Android_Revolution_HD-Sensation_6.5.2 but it keeps freezing on the screen that says "HTC quietly brilliant" when i reboot? Is there anyway I can get this working with what I have? Thanks man really appreciate the help.
I told you. Download the right firmware and put it in sd card, then reboot into bootloader and it will install the new firmware. Read my previous posts
In 4Ext recovery there should be an option like "togle usb" or something like this. If so, you are able to see the content of sd card and you can put the PG58IMG on it from pc
Yeah i hear you, but is there a way to access my root folder? It's not showing up as a removable drive. I dl'd the PG58IMG.zip, but I can't drag it into the folder, because when I plug my usb into my computer, it's not reading my phone as a removable drive = /
probably you dont have the htc driver installed. Download from Here
I downloaded the htc driver prior to rooting my phone. What are my options now?
So, your pc dont see your phone right?
In this case you need a sd card adapter and work from there.
Clearly you didn't install the firmware before flashing the rom. If you look at my previous posts I gave all the instructions.
Find a way to read your sd card from pc (adapter?) then put the firmware (PG58IMG) in the root of sd card and reboot into bootloader to install the firmware.
Later, remember to delete PG58IMG when you are done.
Then, all should work fine.
Good luck!
PS. hitting thanks button wouldn't hurt me by the way!

Yeah im new to the forum, ill definitely hit the thank button. I looked in the 4EXT Recovery program and I found there's an option called "USB mass storage device". Now I can drop the file into the SD card. Before I install the PG58IMG.zip, should I run superwipe first since I installed the Android_Revolution_HD-Sensation_6.5.2? Thanks

Yes better superwipe again even if you did before. Let's say start from the beginning just to be on the safe side
1) install firmware
2) superwipe
3) install rom
Hmm weird problem. I tried installing the PG58IMG.zip and it says ..

Opening update package...

Installation aborted.
Any clues?

You dont have to install PG58IMG from recovery.
Just off the phone (pull the battery out and reinsert). Power up by pressing volume down + power button (keep it pressed until hboot screen appears). The PG58IMG is automatically recognized by device and you will be prompted to update. Say yes by pressing volume up. Then be patient and wait for the entire process is completed as I told few post ago.
Sorry I forgot I had to install it in bootloader xD god, I hate roms! I wish I got into phone modifying long time ago. Im such a noob it's so sad
When you are done, remember that first boot takes a while so be patient and just wait
