[Q] .:!!!URGENT!!!PLEASE HELP:. galaxy s2 illegal intervention check - General Questions and Answers

I went on our service for samsung today because my sgs2 had an issue with app crashing and it was basically unusable. they said i have custom rom on my phone but i never touched any software hacking whatsoever. the phone is mine i am the first owner.
and the service guy took the phone and showed me a screen that is similar to the hard reset screen that you boot with the button combo. and there it said that there is one illegal software intervention or something on the phone. so they told me they can't fix it and i have to pay 240 euros for a hardware part. i went home i hard resetted the phone now and it works. but i want to check that screen again. if anyone knows that would be a huge deal! thanks so much in advance

update. i found it. it's called ODIN MODE. now i want to erase custom binary download counter. i have the official samsung binary. i found an option that uses usb jig. i don't want to use that but if there is no other option...can this be done using the odin software

First, you are no more important than any other user here, and just because yours says URGENT, it is not.
You can't reset the counter without a JIG and depending on your bootloader version you might need ODIN too.
Example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354888
But this is for the g-note, do some research first.

Depending on your bootloader version, the jig might not work. Flash an old bootloader /rom to be sure it will work.

[Q] Unbrickable Samsung Galaxy S?

I am unable to get into download mode, or recovery mode. I have tried making a JIG device and that did not work either. When I plug the device in via computer or its charger the screen flashes on and off as a blank white screen. Odin Connects when the screen turns white but disconnects when the screen shuts off again. I do not have a warranty with samsung nor am able to find any cell phone repair store in my city able to unbrick the device. Does anyone have any advice for me?!?
connect to cpu...then hold vol key and power key together till phone reboots itself...it might take a couple minutes of holding the buttons down and letting it cycle through the reboot a few times...don't let go of the keys until you see the big yellow triangle....run odin before you do all of this so that it is waiting for communication ...also try heimdall or kies...hope this helps a little
The phone is hard bricked, meaning that entering download or recovery mode is not an option.
hence the flashing of the white screen....
sorry I thought you were just having a problem getting your cpu to talk to it...what kind of rom did you try to flash originally? was it from clockwork mod? The galaxy series phones for some reason aren't working with CWM unless it's forced through programming (i'm not 100% about this, and I don't know how to do it)..do you think heimdall would hold on to communication rather than odin? I hope your able to figure this out without too much anxiety...sounds pretty rough though. Have you tried SDK software to get communication with your phone? GL and let me know if you figure it out.
The rom I tried to flash originally was a rooted version of Gingerbread 2.3.3 but there was an interruption during the update process. I cant connect to heimdall as I am not able access download mode. I have read on the xda forums that this device is almsot impossible to brick but I am starting to wonder if this phone can ever be recovered.
I feel your pain!
Bricked mine the same way with interruption. Built the jig and tried to see the pins to hold it to but they were to small. had to just guess/hold it to the right side of the socket and move it slightly every 5 sec. Surprisingly worked for me and the digger appeared. Pro jig from ebay now on route!
I have tried the JIG method and was unsuccessful. I have spoke with someone about a pro jig and he said my only option is a JTAG at this point. I have asked every cellular repair store in my city and they all said they are unable to perform a JTAG, half of them had never heard of a JTAG. Can anyone recommend where I would send my phone for such a service?
There's a guy on these forums Adam something. He does jtag repair. Let me see if I can find his user name for you.
Edit: his user name is adamoutler shoot him a PM as he may be able to help you get back up and running and also make it unbrickable for good at the same time.

Thanks for your help guys but I guess I will end up getting it JTAGed by someone, I also found a website that JTAGs most phones for about $50 in the US. I will provide the link for other members.

I'd still hit up Adam before you chose who to go with. He's helped many in the community.

Nexus S 4G Bootloop; Won't mount SD; Won't mount USB

As the title says. My Nexus S 4G won't mount the SD or USB. It won't allow flashing or wiping any of the data. It won't even let me clear cache. I'm seeing that it might be a lose flash memory module but I'd like to make sure first. If anyone knows how to fix the phone or can tell me how I can flash back to stock w/ boot loaders locked as I will need to do a manufacturer warranty replacement.
bye bye to your NS4G.. you can send it to samsung for a repair orrrr get this beauty: www.google.com/nexus
I think your Nexus S 4G is trying to tell you that it needs to be retired and you should buy a Galaxy Nexus.
https://play.google.com/store/devic...wyLDcwMCwiZGV2aWNlLWdhbGF4eV9uZXh1c19oc3BhIl0.
Hehe, I like you two. I'm actually going to get the GXN [Sprint] when I go back to maryland. Right now I'm in Georgia so I'm getting a GSII Skyrocket [T-mobile] in the meantime.
I will miss it though. That little bugger that I put through so much. Bugger on.
sounds like your internal sd card card died. if so, it should be a cheap repair(if youre out of the warranty time period). but yea, Nexus Prime(gnex) all the way
I really dont see how having your hardware fail on high end device that is only one year old encourages you to somehow buy another phone from the same vendor.
Frankly I see it the oppisite way. I can understand buttons giving out but the nand? Screw that. That is just not acceptable.
Because the problem was most likely my fault anyway. I flash the hell out of my phones. It probably suffered from being erased to many times. After all, these phones were made to only be fully flashed once or twice. I also manhandle my devices. I don't treat them like babies.
Not to mention I trust Samsung. [Blackjack, Omnia i900, Omnia 2, Samsung Galaxy S, Nexus S 4G]. I don't mean that I won't use another phone manufacturer. I have used plenty of non-samsung phones, and as I have my plan on standby, who knows what phone I will get when I go back to sprint. It probably won't be for a good six or seven months till I go back to maryland and reactive my account.
Just out of interest, what version of CWM are do you have flashed?
It is not your fault. Unless you put the phone in water or something it ain't your fault
Nand should not be failing. Its faulty/****ty hardware.
Samsung also needs to take a page out of HTC's book with its nexus device. Locked or unlocked you fix hardware problems. Even more so on a device that has a relockable bootloader.

I'd never knowingly put my device in water. I will agree that they should follow HTC's lead and offer repair for locked and unlocked devices. Even more so on a development device.
Have you tried to put it in DL mode and restore it with odin?
Sadly that wont work. This issue comes up quite often on the forums. It happens to stock users/rooted stock users/crack flashers basically all types of users. Its hardware failer with the nand and there aint a thing you can do about except replace it.

its a common problem for the nexus s, its in no way your fault. i doubt that there is anyone out there with a nexus s that has flashed their phone as much as i have, and mine is still going strong(just a broken power button)
Bad!
Have you tried reflashing recovery and boot?
OP casts Necro
I couldn't find the Odin files to do it. I'm on tmobile now with a One S but I'd love to get my Nexus S running to play with Jelly Bean.
Same problem here
I think the internal flash microSD card must be corrupt. My stock, unrooted NS4G is stuck at the Google logo upon reboot. Stock recovery won't load, and only shows a green android with red triangle. Target mode USB mode won't activate, so I can't use Odin to flash it. Attempts to unlock the bootloader while tethered fail because it won't let me select YES to confirm the unlock.
Does anyone know how to fix this and how much it might cost (out of warranty)?
Thanks in advance!

Noob root now slightly bricked G Flex 2

Hi all. My new phone was going greatish. It was a little laggy, so thought I would root it and remove some of the preinstalled junk. All went fine no problem.
I removed some of the vodafone (UK) stuff, and all was well. Some time later though, I get a message:
"Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped"
And now my phone won't find the network and message pops up every couple of seconds. I tried a factory reset, but I suspect this made it worse as I have now lost my backups from Titanium app. The phone is basically unusable as it is due to constant error message and no network.
I have tried to access the recovery menu, but i get an empty robot with "no command".
I have seen some mention of CIDs on other forums but haven't got a clue how to go about fixing it or even where to start.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as obviously the phone is absolutely brand new, and I'm very very upset about the whole thing! Not to mention the fact that I feel like an idiot!
Anyway, thanks in advance.
You deleted something that was not suppose to be deleted. Don't the stock tot file on this forum and follow the steps to Flash back to factory
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/guide-lg-g-flex-2-stock-firmware-to-t3037593 follow the video and you should be up in running in no time . make sure this link support your version not sure which g flex2 Version you have.
Still no tot files available for the LG G Flex 2 (any variant). Sorry got to wait for some to become available.
Thanks for the input. I figured it would be something like that. Any idea when the files might be available? I don't mind being a guinea pig at this stage. My phone is LG H955 on Vodafone UK.
I am going to try and play dumb in Vodafone shop today and see if they'll replace it there and then (doubtful).
I suppose my other alternative is to return it to LG for Firmware Flash. Anyone know if this is possible and potential cost?
Strangely, I'm not so bothered about (temporarily) destroying my brand new phone too much, it's my sudden lack of connectivity that hurts the most.
Thanks guys
Further update; I have spoken to LG tech support / repair department, and I told them the phone had been rooted etc. (I didn't leave any identifying details!) They informed me that as the phone was now out of warranty, I should speak to their service partner SBE.
After calling SBE, they informed me that LG or their partner have no obligation to fix rooted phones, so apparently they just won't do it, even though I'm certain they could, which kind of sucks, as I was obviously willing to pay.
So it looks like I'm waiting for the TOT files. I hope they come along soon!
Lesson well and truly learned!

Stay positive. Hopefully those tot files come soon. I on the other hand what to experiment with my phone but need a tot file just in case I mess anything up.
If it's just your dialer that's acting up, have you tried a third party dialer to make phone calls?

Lets see if we can work on this.
Is it working ok, just not picking up the network?
How long exactly have you had it?
If you put what you all deleted meaning what folders they were in i could make a copy of that folder or apps you deleted and upload them on dropbox for you that might help get you going worth a shot
Be better if someone had the same variant as you i have the Sprint model.
Thanks again for input. I have hopefully managed to sort this with my provider. I was just within the 14 day cancellation period, so I have arranged for a brand new handset. I know its a little bit naughty but if the phone wasnt so laggy to begin with, I would never have rooted it.
I'm guessing it makes no difference to them as the phone will go back to lg for wipe and reflash as a matter of course once returned.
Thanks folks, I will remain on this forum and hopefully not do anything quite so stupid again!
Unfortunately this is my last day with this device . Great phone but i was wrong the 810 processor is dangerously hot to the point it felt like my pockets were on fire. This my second g flex2 and I'm moving on to something more reliable. Love this phone but this heat issue i can't risk. After 14 days i would be stuck with this phone and i can't take the risk of hoping of getting a device that function fine bye everyone.

Today, I've gotten myself in a similar pickle after applying noob root.. Data OK but no phonecalls and no txts. When I tried to make a call, the thing said the phone is not activated. Sprint tech supp was of course no help, so after some digging I found this: ##72786#
Factory reset, keep the data (and all apps).
That solved it.
I guess I'm old enough to know that being lazy doesn't pay.

so you had root, and while doing this factory reset you were able to go back to full stock unrooted rom? if so, were you able to install updates? i too have a sprint version and i was rooted and tried installing an update but failed, i then unrooted my phone tried the update again and still got an error. im just wondering if this method would actually help people who have the same problem as i do.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
I tried every possible way to install this damn update. Rooted, unrooted, factory reset 4 times, tried to install from the system update in settings, from recovery (which is, at least for me, very tricky to get into) all efforts errored out.
I posted a link to the update.zip in other thread.
So then I gave up and used this noob root which killed voice calls and text.
This code I posted says it does a factory reset but is resetting something else than other factory resets because almost all my settings, passwords and all apps remained intact.. Then I used the original root method and everything works like it's supposed to.
I guess we'll have to wait until someone finally starts developing for our phone.
So after a few days I just received a notification for the update for the third time. Any suggestions as to how I should proceed? I've tried it while being rooted and failed, also tried it the second time after unrooting and failed too. Also, what is the default location where the update is downloaded to, so I can back it up.
So far nothing has worked. The update should be in the cache folder. There is also a link to download the update that someone posted in another thread here about the update.
FYI - I forced the update through recovery over root and bricked my phone. Like all the way bricked. I can get to recovery and download mode, but no fastboot even. Luckily I was within my 14 days and there is no way to tell it is rooted... because it doesn't even get that far, so I got a replacement. My sincere advice would be to wait to root until we have custom recovery and stock firmware available, and if you have root now, wait to update until a dev can release a "root safe" version.
I'm not an expert but I'm not new either. I got the original Evo on launch day and have done all kinds of dumb stuff to every phone since. This is the first time I haven't been able to recover it.

=( *hug. That sucks man, thankfully you were able to get it replaced. *pfew I dodged a bullet there. I was actually thinking about doing the same thing getting home from work. Yeah its best we don't mess with the phone any longer those that have root at the moment. Until custom recovery and stock rom is out like he says.
Wow. How did you manage to "force" the update through recovery? I tried it through recovery but it would error out. (Error 7)
I will tell you, as a cautionary tale.
The error when you flash from recovery references a specific file that is incompatible with the update. I used root explorer to investigate further and found that the root script had overwritten a system file. The original was saved as "original" so I deleted the file causing the error and renamed the original one. After that, the update went through and I thought I was golden... Only now nothing else works.

Can someone un-brick an Alcatel 4060a for me?

I recently attempted to root my Alcatel 4060a. It did not go well.
There is a thread here on xda that explains in some detail how to root this phone, but unfortunately I didn't discover that thread until after my failed attempt. I used KingRoot followed by SuperSUMe. This actually seemed to work, and I definitely had root on the phone, but when I rebooted, it got stuck on the AT&T logo. Although it wouldn't go past the logo, I discovered I could still get a root shell on it via ADB. So, thinking I could fix it, I renamed the files in /system/xbin that appeared to have been put there by the rooting process (based on their timestamps) and rebooted again. This made things worse though: Now the phone won't even get to the AT&T logo, it stays stuck at the initial Alcatel logo now. I can still get a shell on the phone via ADB, but now I can no longer get a root shell, just a regular user shell. (And if I run the renamed su binary in /system/xbin now it gives me a new shell, but without elevated privileges.)
From what I've read here on the forums, there's no way to unlock the bootloader on this phone, and even if there was, there doesn't seem to be either a factory rom image or an aftermarket image readily available, so I can't use fastboot to flash it.
In another post someone said that there is an image for this phone available from boot-loader.com. I signed up on that site and looked around and sure enough they do seem to have an image for it. If I understand that site though, you must purchase one of their diagnostic/repair devices to use any of their images. Although that might do the trick, this is a < $50 phone, so it certainly wouldn't be worth it to me to spend more than that to fix it.
So my question is, does anyone here on the forums have one of these devices, and might be able to get this phone working for me again? I'd be happy to pay you for your time of course. Even though it's an inexpensive phone, money is money and I hate to just throw it away and start over.
Or, if anyone has any suggestions on how I might still be able to fix it myself without buying any hardware (or at least not any expensive hardware), I'd be happy for that as well!
It's frustrating because I've rooted every Android phone I've owned over the years and never had a problem before. Fail.
Thanks in advance!
Hi !
I saw your post here , doest it mean that you have fixed your issue ?
As an advice , before doing anything with any device , knowing that you have done rooting plenty of other devices , don`t proceed to anything until you have this basic stuffs around : a flashing tool and stock firmware .
Cheers !

No, I purchased a replacement phone. My comments in that other thread are referring to my replacement phone, which I was able to root without breaking this time. The original phone is still bricked. Fortunately this is an inexpensive phone ($30-$40), so I was able to replace it.
I'd still love to recover the bricked one though. It's not about the money, it just seems like such a waste to throw away a brand new phone just because it has bad software on it, even if it is a cheap one.

Oh, I know, and normally that is what I would have done. However this phone (even though it's rootable) has a locked bootloader. From all the research I've done, no one has discovered a way to unlock it yet, and no stock firmware seems to be available, except, as I mentioned in this thread, if you purchase a commercial flashing tool. That's not really an option for me since the costs of such tools are much higher than the price of this particular phone. That's why I was hoping to find someone here that has such a tool and would be willing to fix the phone for me for a reasonable price. I did find a shop that would do it for me locally, but they wanted close to $70. I could buy 2 or 3 of these phones for that price, so it wouldn't make sense to pay that much to repair it.
Do you know of any flashing tools that will work with this phone that are free or at least inexpensive? Since I have a second, identical, working, rooted phone now, perhaps there is some way I can pull the image off of that one to restore the first one?
Unfortunately no, I'm not aware of any kind of flashing tool for this device, also I don't think that just pulling a backup from a device and pushing it into another would work due to its locked bootloader.
If there is any paid flashing tool then there's is a reason why it's paid, the developer got probably some paid permissions from the manufacturer to use it and he wants the money back plus some extra, certain devices just can't be soft repaired without unlocked sources

FRP on Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925P

I've searched this forum and Google/Bing for answers and none found, works for me. First things first, this is my phone. It has not been used for a year, I got an S7 to replace it. Now, I unwittingly Factory Reset it via Recovery Mode to prep it for my mother in law. Upon the google sign in, I used what I KNOW is the correct account and it will not go through. I've reset the PW to try to make headway and I'm confident that this action made it worse.
I've tried RealTerm method but it wouldn't dial out even though all indicators suggested it would. It may be an issue with the SIM. Phone is on a data plan but I never used it (yes, I wasted money for the extra line, I meant to get it ready for Mother in Law sooner but I procrastinated...for a year). I tried the SIM from my phone but that didn't work, it timed out connecting to network and SIM locked.
I've tried SideSync method but the app would not connect to phone via USB. Still not sure why but I'm assuming because I didn't set it up on phone first
I've tried Samsung Tool but that wouldn't dial out either
I started to try rooting it but the phone is not set up for Unknown Software...I'm not sure if there's a work around for this
I'm pretty annoyed at myself mostly, for not soft resetting it and avoiding this nightmare all together. I'm hoping that one of you whom are much more talented than myself with phones can assist (I'm pretty worthless at it). I don't know how to set you at ease that this is indeed my phone and nothing insidious is going on but I'm hoping you'll take my word for it and help if at all possible.
My last resort which will annoy me greatly is to spend money on shipping this to Samsung for them to fix. If there's a way, I'd rather do it.
I've tried most methods one can find on google so it will probably take a step or two more than the usual. I don't care if I trip the warranty void mechanism...I just want to get it running and in the hands of my mother in law and make her happy
