i would suggest just looking at the ones individually. im not even sure what 2.3 has that 2.2 doesnt.

I would go with glorious
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA App overdose and there is suppose to be a sense theme Rom soon

Well 2.3 android offers suport for more video related apps such as g+ mobile video chat, just I've had devices running 2.2 and 2.3 and 2.3 is faster more compact and I feel it would b better for memory managment
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA App

There is no 2.3 on the sidekick, we already have video chat on 2.2.

Yeah either ginger clone for lightness and speed, or glorious overdose for smoothness.

(Q) CM7 RC3 or CM7 nightlies

Well I see all these roms out for the leaked 2.3.3 and then I see CM7. I've never used CM7, so I'm.not aware of the differences. Could someone shed some light for me and possibly direct me towards me

Well...
The leaked 2.3 Roms have sense 2.1.
CM7 is built from source to be like vanilla android, but there are more options.
I've tried a few of the GB/Sense rom's and I've been on CM7 since nightly 17, now on RC3.
Its more of a matter of appearance, I've tried a lot of them and I prefer CM7 builds, but I use Sense sometimes, as well as MIUI, which also has a 2.3 build.
Its a brilliant community and the developers for the desire HD/inspire have turned out some amazing quality rom's.

Well question is what's the difference between sense 2.0 and 2.1? I just want opinions and what everyone seems to prefer. I'm looking for a nice look with good download / upload speeds.

The differences between sense 2.0 and 2.1 aren't that big, but there is a settings tab in the notification pull down and a tweaked app drawer that has favorite and downloaded app tabs.
That's really it aesthetically, but under the hood its made to work with android 2.3.
They are all test builds though, you could try an optimized stock rom with sense 2.0 and froyo?
There are a lot of options now and more to come.

Well I've heard great things regarding CW7 so ill just try everything LOL thanks a lot

ROM Question (Another, i know)

I recently rooted my inspire, first android device, and installed CM7 because it seemed amazing, not saying it isn't. I like CM7, but i like pure Gingerbreads gingerygoodness even better. I am currently running CM7-Phunky Cow "flavored"
and i like it because of the actual launcher and runs higher quadrant scores.
I like pure gingerbread, but i think i may miss the cm7 settings, some i use, also i miss HTC widgets and camera, etc, but i cant stand sense anymore.
Anyone have recomendations on ROMS, or CM7 Flavours/Mods?
Use Ultimate Droid
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I have tried that and it seems alot heavier then CM7, and that's not really what im aiming for, plus the theme is wierd on it, im not sure how i'd go with changing that.
What's the reason you use it?
Its very smooth and fast and my speed increased and its just perfect for me

Right now Cm7 is starting to make me not like my phone for some reason so let's put it this way, is there a Stable, User-Friendly, non sense rom out there thats gingerbread?
The nature of all custom roms are beta's nothing more, every rom including the stock non rooted rom is subject to hiccups.

+1. Gingerbread, works great, smooth, slick, and not an lick of Sense. If you are looking to try something different, you owe it to yourself to give it a go. C'mon over to the Dark Side, the water is great!

Pure GB. Fully customizable. Great Quadrant scores (for what they're worth). No problems whatsoever...
And I jumped to the "Dark Side" straight from the latest CM7 build...and haven't looked back....

If you're looking for a Gingerbread build with Sense, try RCMix 5.9.x, available for download directly via CWM.

It's using a home launcher.
If you want a pure GB home launcher, or have it look like CM7, just download ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro.
I'm currenrly running ADWEx on mine...
MIUI is fully customizable, and even has its own dedicated dev forum...

Why does everybody want Gingerbread?

just wondering why everybody wants gingerbread, can somebody explain the benefits of gingerbread versus stock? Thanks and sorry for the noob question
gingerbread takes more advantage of the cpu and gpu which makes a smoother less laggy device and it has more features, plus touchwiz isnt stock like you said it was, gingerbread is actually stock 2.3 and touchwiz in this device is touchwiz 3.0 as basically a theme over froyo 2.2 stock
rickyc19 is right! I have and hd2 htc running GB(cm7) and it is so fast and snappy u wouldnt hardly believe it(and thats being that it is a windows phone underneath!!!). Battery life was incredibly improved and i am so anxiously awaiting and hopeing for it on our galaxy 4g's!!!!!!!!!!!

well for one battery life also from what I understand is if we have gb we have a good chance of getting the netflix app to work cause its not working on 2.2
It's simply a step forward - there are few (or a dozens) of little features added throughout whole system, everything is tweaked and made faster. It's simple better and faster.

[Q]Cracked Netflix app on froyo based roms

Has anyone had success using the Netflix app to stream video on a Froyo based Rom? I'm using BAMF 1.6.3, and when i attempt to stream it stops and says failure to acquire license. The patch listed in the development section is only for GB roms.

I tried every rom/kernal trick I could think of. I searched far and wide and the only thing that did the trick was upgrading to GB. I am missing the battery life from froyo so if you find a solution I would love to hear it.
I believe its only for gb roms for now
I also tried to install Netflixs + patch on bamf 1.6.3 but I got no video....now I'm on bamf 2.0 and Netflixs works great...
Netflix doesn't work on Froyo . <--------PERIOD
GB roms only for now.... but u might wanna hold off on that cause of the bricked TBs' linked to the alpha GB radio at the moment.

Exactly, only 2 of the 5 officially supported phones have official 2.3 roms and it still runs on 2.2 on the N1 as well. 2.3 does seem to be required on unofficial phones though. Hopefully the devs can figure it out or we get updated to Gingerbread soon. Netflix through PlayOn is pretty good, but I would love to have the app instead.

If you run the CM7 GB ROM, you can do this.
Well now that the LG Revolution is out and it has the same processor as the bolt and Froyo we should be able to get it. I hope lol
Netflix works great on CM7!

I hate lag!

I have noticed that my phone is extra laggy since gingerbread. Does anyone have any ideas about what to do about this? I have turned off animations, live wallpapers, and am running launcher pro (which has been force closing a lot). The home screens and app drawer are occasionally laggy, but the browser is really bad. Again, this is the one area where the iphone kicks the **** out of android. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

LG's crappy code is probably to blame. Flash a custom ROM. CM7 if you want extra features. EaglesBlood 2.3.3 if you want stock feel.
To add to that, am I the only one who thinks froyo was smoother and faster?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I was having the same issues. Just last week I rooted my phone and installed xboarder's rom based on the ota update 1.2.2. My runs smooth, and it runs cold even when I play on it for hrs at a time. My phone started randomly rebooting after the official gingerbread update from LG. Clearly LG programmers are incompetent. My phone runs much better rooted. I suggest you do the same.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I am running xboarders rooted rom. Sorry I didn't mention that. It's not like it's unusable or anything. I just hate how powerful these phones are and that they aren't greasy, buttery smooth. I just feel like android in general should run better than it is today.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
What exactly is being "laggy"? Switching homescreens? Scrolling? Opening/closing apps? Other things?
G2X CM7
Try ADW Launcher, I've found it to run better than Launcher Pro.

Try miui or cm. Anything that didn't start life with LG is completely smooth in my experience.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I like Go Launcher...it's really nice on Xboarder rom.
Lag??? There might be something wrong with your phone, cuz this is the fastest phone out hands down, my phone don't lag at all
I recently switched from Launcher Pro to Go launcher. I liked LP but development is growing stale to keep my interest.
None are really perfect but some work better the head others especially at optimizing stuff like switching screens.
I like the Lp widgets but the themes with Go.
AdW launcher has the most options but I can't settle on it for some reason. I bought the EX version.

If you think the iPhones browser is smoother than Android, you obviously haven't used the most powerful Android device to date. The SGSII which uses a hardware accelerated browser. Its browser is the fastest mobile browser I've used to date. It loads pages and flash content twice as fast as my Sensation and G2X. The phone as a whole just feels so fluent. Whether you like Samsung or not, there is no denying they know how to code and optimize Android. In my opinion, they are the best when it comes to optimizing there Android devices unlike HTC and LG.
LG will never catch Samsung in the TV market in terms of display quality and they will never catch them in the mobile market.

Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
G2X is pretty close to Galaxy S2 in general speed but stock browser is far behind. Maybe you should try other browsers like Opera Mobile/Mini and Dolphin HD.
I'm using dolphin right now. It's a little better.

The next update will have hardware acceleration. Ill tell you why it hasn't been implimented yet. It is a lot harder to code a operating system for multiple hardware configurations than it is to code for just one. It takes so many more man hours to figure out how its going to work on current handsets and cuter handsets.
In the end, if Android was only on one handset, it would already have hardware acceleration.

I know it doesn't help you a whole lot but in your OP, you compaired the iPhone to Android as a whole. I felt the need to tell you that it is not smoother than Android as a whole because there is a Android handset that bests it when it comes to overall smoothness, not only in the UI but also in the browser. If you would have said, "this is one area where the iPhone beats the G2X" instead of "this is one area where the iPhone beats Android". I wouldn't have brought it up.
Get it?
