please consider using the Q & A thread for questions about specific roms....
Make sure the feature is built into the ROM, if not there are apps on the market that will allow you to take screen shots. I know the ROM i'm using has the option for a screen shot in the advanced power menu. Other roms have it as a combination of volume rocker buttons and the power button. But like I said be sure its a feature built in.

yes i want do that too

[APP] Camera: Use your volume/search buttons to take pictures (cm)

I'm trying to figure out how to change some of the option menus in the Camera app before I submit this to CM source for review, (because it's apparently a huge pain in the ass I guess...) but in the meantime, let me know if you find either of these useful.
**NEW** (02/03/2011)
Unified version with new settings menu!!
(and here's the source code)
(feel free to download and try these out!)
It's branched from the CM7 source, but it might work on CM6, I have no idea. Just install it over your current installed Camera app.
Enjoy

I think the vol up/down version (#2) is a winner! Honestly an awesome idea! I've been wishing for something like this since CM6 on the EVO.
Nice job! Submit away!

Me likey Version 2!
Version 2 sounds like the way to go.
I don't use zoom all that much with the camera on my phone. A physical button to take a picture is paramount for me. Version 1 gets my vote.
I've been wanting something like this for soooooo long (Ver. 1). Thank you so much!

Self-shots without having to stumble across the screen? Yes please. I vote for 1.

Version 1 works amazingly! Any way to make it so you hold the button down to focus (that way you can wait to hear the two beeps so you know it's focused) and it takes the picture on release??
version 2 ...nice work!!!! great new feature Shinzul!
Awesome !!! Me like Version 1.

Is there a Camera upgrade app for the Camera on CM7?

I just installed CM 7.1.0 from MikG and the camera leaves much to be desired. There are few features/options, the UI feels like my original Droid and there are no special effects or ability to mute sounds like shutter and what not. Quite frustrating this past weekend when I was at a wedding and wanted to take lots of pictures but it was quite other than them reading their vows and what not and after taking only one picture I put my phone away because it was so loud. I miss the camera from MikG and wish I had the special effects like some of the newer camera versions. Can anyone help me out here? Prefer a Camera app that also has the video in it if possible. Maybe just a newer version of the stock Camera or ??
Thanks!

It will add a 2nd app. The miui camera is your best option, and its free. It's really good and works great with every aosp rom I've used.

Alright, installed it and LOVE it compared to the stock one included w/CM7. My only problem is that the effects list is missing the only one I would ever use and that's an HDR setting. Other than that I just need to figure out what all these settings mean. Burst? Shutter? Anti-Shake? Where's the user manual?

Thanks for the link but that thread pretty much only talks about how to focus a photo and how to focus on something that isn't centered. Not much discussion about anything else or any of the other settings.

Thanks for the information. I think I'm going to use the MIUI camera for the time being so no need to modify any files for the time being.
Well this is what I use on CM7 and this is the "FREE" version but they also have a paid version its better than the others i think. It starts with a grid but you can take it off in settings.
Same issue here as the newer's have the pano effect, etc. and are sweet.
As an alt to the miui one, you should checkout camera 360 also. Used to be a paid app, now free and has a lot of nice features ....

It's free now?!? I used that when it first came out years ago and loved it but the devs did some crazy crap (GREATLY reduced resolution of your photos and a few other things that I personally think is wrong) to the free version to get people to pay for it and so I abandoned it because I don't like those tactics. If it's completely free now then I'm all over that!
paper camera is cool.... its in the market
Is there any way for the MIUI camera to use the volume rocker as the shutter button? That's the only thing from the stock camera that I miss.

Bah! I hadn't yet noticed that. That was a great feature with the stock camera app and I hadn't yet tried the volume rockers. My single biggest gripe with this phone is a lack of physical camera button. PITA when you're trying to take a picture and you can't quite see the screen because of the angle.

[Q] [q]Three questions about three Roms

hi all.
First I want to say thanks to all developers, users and all those who invest the time to get shoes are amazing. A big thank you from us in Israel
I am using ROM Zeus version 6.
The rom look great fast and well designed.no BUGS at all.
What bothers me is that I can not use video call. It is very helpful at work and I saw ROMS that option is available. Is this something that's easy to add?
The second question. Is it possible to keep the screen ON all the time when the power is connected? It really helps when you're driving and not have to open the lock screen Every few minutes.
The third question is related to the MIUI and CM ROMs
Is it possible to fix the problem with BLUETOOTH?
This is something very important especially when driving
If the BLUETOOTH do not work, you should keep the phone in hand and it is not safe
The only problem that prevents me from using these Roms
Or maybe we should wait for the ICS PORT?
BIG THNKS

1. Talk with video installer:

2. BlueTooth on cm7 or cm9 or miui: If you can't make it happen yourself, forget it. Until Broadcomm release the source codes and until a kernel developer adds it into a working infuse kernel, it is unlikely.
3. Screen on for driving: maybe use a dedicated GPS?
Thanks a lot.

Taking screenshots on stock ROM - built in, no apps, no root!

Maybe I'm just dumb and everyone else already knows about this, but I though I'd share anyway.
I've just discovered that you can take screenshots on stock ROM by pressing the power button + home button.
The screenshots will be saved in the same folder as the camera photos.
Maybe if people at least skimmed the instruction manuals for their devices, they'd discover these things sooner.
Umm... ok...

yes, i have seen the thread, but i can't do it myself..
i was just too afraid to make things worst on my phone..
i just leave the technical stuffs on experts..
Just made a solution to my problem and it went well for me..
When hope is lost i find this thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705260"
credit to: jscott30
I flash it in my Rogers Infuse 4G, it's a hit and lost for me, just managed to have a lot of guts to do this for it's an at&t rom and it went like BOOM!..
Then ever since i rooted my phone and started following ang flashing "BeanStalk" ROM credit to scott.hart.bti for this great rom, i followed his past works and stumbled on his Inimitable UCKL2 which is great for having a lot of themes and great addons specially my all problem "volume rocker wake"..
Very Stable and it solved almost all i want on my phone, even my problem on camera flash led being no so bright after i rooted it.
Since i still can't post to their thread for some reason, i just have use this thread to shout a big "THANKS" to those thread starters and responsible for the development of those great stock and custom roms. Now I enjoy a steady phone with almost the original features of it +++.
Big "THANKS" to you guys:
jscott30 and scott.hart.bti
