don´t allow intall apk sd or market!!!! - LG Optimus 3D

Suddenly my optimus 3D dont allow install apk from sd and i can´t download from market, download never end or the install button appear dislable.
Any idea?

Are you a rooted user who has used a task manager to stop some auto running apps? If so you probably need to reset the auto run permissions for the market app.
If not, have you checked that you have the "allow non market apps" option ticked in the phones settings menu under the applications section? This enables installation of apps from places other than the android market.

maybe!!!!

If you didn't change any settings using a task manager then market should be fine but if you want to check you can install an apps manager (I use the gemini app manager which is free on the android market so can only tell you how to do it with this app though it should be the same for most similar software).
Start the app manager and you will see a list of programs that are on your phone, scroll down the list until you see the android market app showing (it will just say "market" and a pic that looks like a green suitcase next to it).
Click on that picture and a menu appears with lots of choices.
Choose the choice that says "configure auto run" and after a few seconds it will show you a screen that has lots of writing on with "on/off" sliders at the right of the screen.
Basically if these are all green then the problem is not the market apps permissions. If any are not green just touch them and they will turn green. When all are green again just hit your phones back button and see if market now works properly.

app removal

i dont know about most people, but i tend do download and try out a lot of apps from the maket just to compare and i was wondering if there is anyway for someone to remove apps quickly (e.g. iphone style). yes i know go get an iphone..etc etc, but i just want this one feature. i just find it hassle to go in to settings-->manage applications and wait for it to load and scroll down and find the app and click uninstall, especially when your downloading and trying a bunch of apps.

Apps randomly starting in the background?

I use advanced task killer and minutes later I see MP3 Store, and Messages running. Before I saw a few others. Are they set to start running in memory for some reason? Not sure if they eat up much juice, but I wonder if I can make a list of certain ones and disable their start up somehow. Is there a task killter that blocks startups?
same here we need something to block these apps
Messages is required to recieve MMS (Even if you use handcent or chomp or something else as your main client). We tried removing that once in the hero forums and it caused ALL sorts of problems and force closes)
The mp3 store is usually ok to remove though.

Thanks codemonk,
Do you know that setting in advance task killer is that says "auto kill level"? It is set to disable now, but what does it do? Thanks.

I'm not sure...I avoid task killers as a rule (I installed one earlier to test something for an earlier thread and uninstalled afterwards once I got my info).
http://geekfor.me/faq/you-shouldnt-be-using-a-task-killer-with-android/ - This should provide some good info on it.
The better solution, especially for apps that you don't intend on using, is uninstalling the app (there's a whole thread talking about which ones are safe to remove).

Why do you need those apps not running? Android will kill them if it needs more memory.
Why are people obsessed with killing stuff? It's not like your phone runs better with 192mb of free memory vs 163mb...
it actually does, as well as lets the battery last longer since it isnt using as much processing power

Let the phone run for a good 12 hours. I was down to 42MB free basically idling and only using Handcent. Killed a few tasks and back up to 175 and everything is snappy again.
I don't like having to use a task killer, I didn't have to with my N1.
maybe there will be an app like Scotty for windows 7. I check and a bunch of bloatware starts on it's own. It's all marketing bs. When there is a nice root stripped down, with all the nice stuff enabled I'll do that.
download startup auditor from the market. great little app to select and unselect which apps you want to load when the phone powers up. only costs $0.99 usd

So if I leave it to no apps, will it load up with 0 apps running? Will it also prevent apps from randomly starting after phone is already on? Sounds like a nice app.
Unless startup auditor disables the service there is a list of apps that will randomly start up at times. I went into the application settings and apps like MP3 store don't have an option to uninstall.
I have used task killer to kill all apps and within minutes some start again.
"thecodemonk" why do you not use a task killer. I have only had an Android phone about 24 hours now and got a lot to learn.
First thing being how to enable tethering.
I have mine set to "safe" and it auto closes things when screen goes black.
Make sure you "IGNORE" certain apps... like the clock or else your alarm wont work... I almost over slept
I have the following set to ignore:
Messages
Handcent
clock
gmail
Mort Music player
Fastbright
Check out the application "Autokiller." This comes with preset values (optimum, moderate, aggressive, etc.) so that apps will be killed off once your free memory drops below a certain point. This app works great, but it does REQUIRE root to function and must be rebooted to finish applying the settings. Also lists all apps, processes, and services which can be killed off manually as well.

It is in market, search "autokiller". Requires root access, but I can confirm it is working fine.
Wanted to add that I am annoyed by programs that I never intend to use running in the background. From recovery I used Android Commander to quickly select and delete every .apk in /system/app that I never wanted to see again.
Helo guys saw this topic and was over at androidcentral and saw this article which talks about an app that would kill any app that autostarts.
won't let me post links as i'm a new user, but go to androidcentral and look for the article about the app autostarts or just google "autostarts"
using task panel to kill the "junk" like amazon and mp3 store- also any program that doesnt attach itself to things like facebook or messages - i use skyfire so i have set that to autokill but leave the "internet" running..
i also use this to switch between apps running.. having to hit back back back or even going to home then program list then finding it is a long process.. for example ...
i get a handcent message - go into the threaded sms- type and im done - holding down the home screen doesnt pop all the programs up - therfor i set task panel up to stay on my status bar and hit it then go to the program i want.

[Q] Help with Market

I have a problem with the android market. I've found two apps where I can see add-on apps when I search for them, but the main app doesn't show up when I search on my phone. When I search on my wife's Motorola Atrix, the main apps show up as well as the add-on apps. The apps I've seen this with are Car Locator and Evernote. Has anyone ever seen this behavior? And how can I fix it so I can get the apps I want. I don't know how many other apps might not be found-but I know there are two for sure!
Depending on your fingerprint in your build.prop, the market makes decisions on what apps you are allowed to see on the device. I'm not sure if you are running stock or a ROM, but if your fingerprint line is not recognized/allowed to use that app, you won't be able to install it.
You can go to http://market.android.com and find the app then see if you can tell it to install to your phone. If it is grayed out, you will need to either extract the apk from your wife's phone or change your fingerprint line then reboot the phone.
I found one of the apps at http://market.android.com and it had an install button. But when I tried to install it I got a message saying "Your device's content rating filter is incompatible with this item". I know the app works on the device because the developer sent me a link and I installed the app from it.
I don't understand why the market would limit me to certain apps. Can you tell me how to fix my phone so this is no longer a problem?
Thanx!!!

And obviously, anything in the Market's settings screen is going to be related to the Market.

Any way to hold an update in Market?

So I noticed that the latest Tweetdeck update disables the ability to post longer than 140 characters. Is there a way to tell market I don't want to update the app? The problem arises in that there are a number of other apps which are due for automatic update. But because of Tweetdeck I'll have to save the apk, uninstall, update all.
I use the 3party app to disable it.
maybe u could try it, download "lidroid tool box" from market, & disable the update notice from Auto Start.
Open the market, Menu > My Apps > Pick the app > look for the check box that says "Allow Automatic Updating" and uncheck it

It's not that it was automatically updating. It's that if there is a list of many apps to be updated, I can't use the update all functionality as the app is in the list that is up for updating. Instead I have to manually choose to update each app.
What bugs me is I have unchecked automatically updating for every application on my tab and it still checks for updates on every start.
"Updates Available" appears every time......yes I know, Don't need them!

ah... yea I dont know what to tell you on that one. maybe find a 3rd party app that allows a little more control over it? I'm sure there's one out there that can do it.

*install Astro
*backup your app (tweetdeck you said? i'll just say that )
*uninstall tweetdeck
*install the backed-up APK
*it will no longer show up in your 'my apps' list.
Return to the Market with me, then I can not download because the connection timeout error.

Yes, just long press on the provider you would fake, choose your option,
Then, kill market (with taskkiller or long press back button or press 1 000 000 times the back button til the home screan appears) then open market again and now your specific privider is faked!

cant get to work
ive tried it and all i get is t-mobile stuff still. I'm running arhd 2.2.1 which is based on the leaked ics build i believe. I've changed it through the app to different providers and it doesn't do much.
this app looks almost exactly like this one: Market Enabler. From what I saw, the only difference was the icon. It has the exact same markets to choose from.
This is their webpage: Market Enabler webpage. It's minimal, and pretty bare bones.
Other useful information:
Wiki Mobile Network Codes. This gives a list of codes for carriers world wide which can be used in the "set custom"
If this is the same app, then key information to know:
Market Enabler said:
Do I need to donate to get this working?
No, definitly not.
A donate is an appriciation to the developer/s but it's not the same as buying a software.
In case of MarketEnabler, a donate will get you a donate key that removes ads from the application and adds some beta functions that are still in testing.
I donated trough PayPal but haven't received the donate key
Please look into your SPAM folder as it is an automated script that sends you the key.
If you don't get an answer after 24 hours, please email me at [email protected].
I only get "we have a problem houston "
Are you sure that you have a working su binary and busybox (or at least the killall command) installed and granted root rights to MarketEnabler when it got requested?
Preconditions
#1 root
To be able to change the systems runtime configuration (what MarketEnabler does) you will need access as a root user to the system.
MarketEnabler expects that you will have a file called "su" on your system (and in the global path) that will open a root shell.
#2 busybox
The commands that are used, are not always part of the Android system.
Most rooted phones have busybox on board as it's common to install it during the rooting process or included in most custom roms.
If you don't have busybox, I recommend using the busybox installer from stericson on the market.

Make sure you kill Google Play Store from "Manage Apps > All" first.
Alternatively, you can do it manually:
1. Kill Google Play Store from "Manage Apps > All".
2. Go to MarketEnabler, under "Set custom" tab, input that specific country market code you wanted to visit.
3. Select "Set to this values".
4. Go to Google Play Store.
5. Enjoy!
