What is ROM Factory?
Its a tool that will allow the user to create a picture perfect .img from your boot and system partition. It will then create an update.zip from it.
What is a "Fruit Cake"?
A fruit cake is the finish product, a self contain rom, already ready for installation, already inside an update.zip.
So really what does it do?
It allows a bootloader unlocked user to create a full copy of their boot and system partition. All of it, including mods and changes done to either one of those partitions.
Can this be use for easier rom development?
Yes! Beyond just its normal capabilities! After installing the resources you can modify the script and add things to it in *sdcard* /fcm/workdir! Once you are done adding and changing things in there, press "Create ROM".

Patience this step could take up to 5 minutes.
Step Two: Press the Create Fruit Cake button on the screen.
Patience this step could take up to 5 minutes.
You use this application at your own risk, I am in no way responsible for any damage this application causes.

Oficial Support for Triumph
Back Up mode = Further information is needed for this device to support back up mode.

Downloading to test now... will report back soon.
*edit* first step only took 1 minute or so. second step is running right now...
*edit2* looks like it worked. Built a flashable zip file for my current ROM making a boot.img and system.img.
It is confirmed to work on my phone running CM7 (Tickerguy) and OC kernal.
Question. This tool would be useful for a dev to create fast flashable zip for ROM development, correct?

I'm not sure honestly. It does exactly what I need it to do. How about making it work for the Asus Transformer TF101? I have one and the ability to do this kind of backup would be nice.

No.
One of the biggest reasons is that Whitehawkx released some of his personally written files to ease porting of MIUI from the O2X, so now there are a dozen and a half MIUI variants. The others just happen to be around - people have a lot of spare time during December it seems.
Oh just wondering thanks
Nvidia always!
So are people going to post their set ups in here? And do you flash this update zip like any other Rom?

1.6 - The update that took a month. Will be release today. This will be amazing. I'm just waiting on testers.
Advance Mode
Apps Mode
Back Up Mode
New look
Open Source components
New site, new forums, new devices.
The update will be made available late tonight or early tomorrow. Depends on how tire I am after i get off work.
We are alive and kicking. Since release, Fruit Cake Maker has been downloaded 1,956 times. We are 556 active developers. A total of 12 bugs have been crushed. We currently work on 20+ devices and devices variants.
Nightlys and experimental.
Starting Feb 1st or 2nd. My build bot will begin auto compiling nightlys for those who want to experiment with the latest changes. Nightlys will be compile each night and made available no later than midnight.
An experimental build will begin to be compile mid Feb. the build will be compile every friday at 6pm. The experimental build will feture a different preference screen, and will require the user to specify all the variables. ie: boot location, system location, storage, mode. so on. This build aims at enthusiast who wish to use the tool on a non supported device.
FCM now has requirements. Busybox must be installed to use the back up mode.
Thank guys for your support.
I'm currently waiting on Google.
I submitted the new version into the market, but somehow i ended up with an older version being available for download. hopefully this issue will be solved soon. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
1.6 finally!
Some of the testers are reporting errors with the new modes, but changing storage location seem to be working quit good. I will be writing a tutorial on how to properly use all the new modes. Regardless, this new version requires Busybox for app mode, and back up mode. It must be installed on /system/xbin << same location used by cm7 and cm9. I will be releasing a new version tomorrow or Thursday, to fix some of the new mode woes.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

What the advantages and disadvantages?
nothing like a nandroid. this does not make a back-up. specially not for defy. this aids in development of rom, by providing an easy metho to create an installable file from whatever is inside your system partition, in the defy case.

[APP][ROOT][2.1+] Wi-Fi Reminder v1.0

Hey guys, this is a little app I've done. Hope you like it
I don't know if it will work in every device/version (but it should). If you tested it, please report whether it's working or not (please post device, android version and kernel).
Have you ever forgotten your network's password? Did someone else set it up, and you need yo know which you pass is?
With Wi-Fi Reminder, that will never happen to you. It has a very simple and intuitive user interface, and it's extremely easy to use!
All you need to do is launch the app, give root permisses, and in a few seconds you can see all the networks you have previously been connected to with it's password.
It has two languages: English and Spanish.

Beta3 uploaded
I've just uploaded beta3. But this time I've made two versions: beta3 and beta3_logger. The only difference is that the logger version will create a file named "WiFiReminder.log" in the root path of your storage (/sdcard/, for example) with some things that hopefully will help me make it compatible with more devices.
Apart from that, in this version I've added another algorithm to try improve compatibility. Apart from that.. I don't thinks there's nothing I can do without that actual device. Sorry
If beta2 is already working.. there's no need to install beta3. Otherwise, please install the logger version and send the log through PM please.
Doesnt work on MTK6573 based phone Anyway, nice app.

*Big thanks to those of you who worked on the d2att, that code was invaluable for getting a working graphics driver and some unknowns I could not see.*

****In the process of doing this, I had to bust my /system in order to get the files required.
I would strongly appreciate if anyone can send me a copy of their boot.img and either a copy of their system.img or system.tar.ext4 made by clockworkmod. ****
Part of doing this was integrating everything with the d2-variant build chains in CM9 and CM10. Say thanks in the Thread if you like this or promote this thread so it makes it to the main page.

Thanks Guys!
AWESOME!!!
Sweet, thanks so much, worked amazing on my T-Mobile Tab 2, got root awaiting a CM9 ROM. No rush, just happy to have my root on my plaything. Keep up the amazing work.
FINALLY! You just made my evening! Incoming Donation.

I have the ATT device as well, running a full stock rooted backup as we speak. I will get it uploaded when completed. Please hold...
Glad to hear it guys!
Very happy to know it works just as well on the T-mobile one.
I can get some custom ROMs going if I can get a copy of someone's /system and boot.img .
First goal is CM9 and then a migration to CM10.1 once that is pretty stabile.
Luckily for us, we have two amazingly complete CM sources with the d2att ( and nice d2 kernel chain!) and p5100 which cover most of our requirements as far as setup and drivers/libs.
Thank You for the support. If you like this, check out my site, say thanks, and/or vote this up onto the main site for a post so it is more visible.
I will be posting the original stock recovery.IMG in Odin flash able later tonight.

If I was home I could help with my T-Mobile tab 2. Currently out stealing cars legally tho. Just glad for root and I'll help if I can in anyway.

Will this wipe my current apps and data?

Not at all. You are merely flashing Root over your existing install. I also suggest that you make a backup prior to installing SuperSU. All of your non-native apps and contacts, etc are on /data and SuperSU does not touch /data at all.
Just posted up the Original Stock Recovery in an Odin Flashable if you want to return to stock.
Thanks for figuring this out. If you still need boot img or anything from the t-mobile version let me know. Also is it possible to add the t-mobile model number (SGH-T779) to the thread title, it would help others to find it.
Thanks again
Edit: I just saw that you added the model to the OP. Thanks again
Yeah I can extract system images from the CWM blobs if that is all you have. However a simple tar ball of /system and your boot.img would be helpful.
No more help at this time, however that might change with CM9 integration for T-Mobile.

Thanks a lot !, I had waiting a long time for this.
I have a GT-P5113 and I have the latest jellybean update (4.1.1). Do you know if this method works for my tablet, and if it doesn't, do you know a method for this model?

BTW - The SGH-i497 has been added to CF-Autoroot by Chainfire. Now get rootness the easy way.
http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
The T779 is in there as well.
For the T mobile users I will be putting together a Device tree for you guys as well. Let me know if there is anyone who wants to head up the CM9 port for the T779.

I honestly have no idea! That Model Number did not appear in the code, however the hardware is the same and considering the partition table is almost exactly like the D2 it just might.
IF YOU DO SO, YOU DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am not responsible!
Worst Case scenario, you will not be able to "wipe" your device in case of a failure easily until you perform a Manual update using Kies (usually the Samsung firmware has the recovery.img in it, but no guarantees!).
Get me a Copy of the Recovery.img or Full Odin Image for that device and I can probably make it work. The same would be true of the new SPH-P500 for Sprint. I do not have a Verzion version so I cannot test it. If you are a willing volunteer, let me know.
The Gtab2 10.1 LTE is Basically a Blown up Galaxy S3. However I am quickly finding that the AOSP D2 Kernel source doesnt like me much... erg.
Im out of town now but if no one shares their system I will dump mine when I get back sat morning.

All the rooting steps are the same as the other gtab 2 10.1???
Yes. Basically.
These are the standard root steps for all Samsung devices with unlocked boot loaders.
Its the software and images that you are putting on your device which are different.

This is a community forkable ROM, so feel free to use for your own projects as long as you give me credit!
Official GT-P5113 OTA with root, busybox, deodex, init.d, zipalign. ALL files from OTA are present. (Look, even those pictures and video are there!)
The point of this ROM is not to be small, but to be completely 100% stock and used for other projects, thus it has 0 debloat and is big (but no different than any other Stock Samsung OTA).
Install Instructions:
Use a custom recovery. I prefer TWRP. But there's also CWM.
Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik Cache (Factory Reset) the installer automatically wipes System, but you can do that too if you're nervous.
Flash the zip on a 5113! People who know what they're doing say it works on a 5110 too!
If there are issues booting make sure you have the Jellybean bootloader installed. This is from the CM10 thread, I didn't make it.

Known Issues:
*Initial setup was wonky and I had to restart the tab a few times to get through it, but after that it's actually performing great! Might have been a fluke due to some choices I set during setup (like don't sync etc.).
*It seems to only work for people who know what they're doing.
*Any additional issues? You tell me?
Info for the old port in case people were wondering:
I took the stock ROM from SamMobile, Rooted and Deodexed and all that good stuff using @dsixda Android Kitchen, modified the build.prop, threw in a couple missing apks that the kitchen screwed up from @Tsjoklat MicroDelta Stock Based ROM, replaced a few files with ones from the GT-P5210 release (also SamMobile), and injected it with @ketut.kumajaya NEXT kernel and blobs so it would run on our tab!
Special Thanks: @ketut.kumajaya for reminding me to use his blobs or else I would have just given up on this.

hey shakatu, do you think it's possible to make the notification drawer not take up the whole screen? or is that always going to be hardcoded into samsung 4.2.2 until there's a stock 10" 4.2.2?

Yeah this is completely stock as the OP says so what you see is how Samsung made it.
A 5100 port may come eventually as now I know what to do probably by porting from the 3100...

Oh they work, I just had to take the ones from the 5210 so they would be set up for a 10" screen instead of a 7" screen. I'm just warning they may be buggy but they work.

Well thank you soo much for the effort, the rom was sluggish even without odex trash.I removed about 200 mb of apps from system and the rom is amazing now.
Only bug is the page indicator misplacement(behind the dock icons) in the launcher.

Yeah, cuz it was taken from the 5210 which doesn't have a nav bar, thus the icons became squished on our screen lol. I'm downloading the 5113 release right now but it will take a couple hours... Then I'll work on it and post the launcher so people can replace it on their own if they want to continue using the port idk...
Sorry to 5100 users I don't think I'll be porting the 3100 over after all since Samsung is finally starting to roll out 4.2.2 to the 10" you'll just have to wait. Or port it yourself. Just take a 3100 ROM, comment out the line in the build.prop that says ro.sf.hwrotation=270, and use kk's latest NEXT kernel and Blobs. That will make it boot but still have some problems with apps lol.
do you think you'd be releasing the rooted/deodexed 4.2.2 P5113 today? or is it gonna take a while?
