First you need : http://www.4shared.com/zip/2L09-JyW/Root_Nexus_S.html
After that you need : remove install-recovery.sh just in .....
run in windows-> Start->at the search bar write cmd and navigate into your android sdk is installed
For me :
C:/"Programs and Files (x86)"/Android/android-sdk/tools/>adb shell
# rm /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
#exit
or with Root Explorer into system/etc/install-recovery.sh just renam it (ex. : .sh.old)
Now you can download this Stock Romv2.3.4 : http://www.4shared.com/file/cJbNf1Nf/NexusS.html
just unpack Nexus.7z with passw: surdupetru
Now , copy NexusS.zip into sdcard, and than you can install it with CWM
( shut down your phone -> press power and volume up at the same time -> choose recovery mod-> wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition , advanced Wipe Dalvick-Cache and now choose install zip from sdcard, yes -> navigate into your sdcard and click NexusS.zip. Waitt for installing ...and you will see a nice Stock Android 2.3.4 with root permission, fast & more stable! Good luck!

Hey yes you have to download the Gapps zip, place it on the sd-card and then flash it in recovery.
So:
1) Donwnload http://jellybean.tom.gascoigne.me/gapps-jb.2.zip
2) Push the on your sd-card
3) Boot into the recovery
4) Flash zip from sd-card like you chose the rom.zip
5) Reboot
The mic is not working on this Build, but we except a new Version with working Mic for today.
For latest build see here http://jellybean.tom.gascoigne.me/continuous/
Or you try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780005 this rom. Flashing same procedure. This Rom has a working mic

Thank you body trying the latest version of the ROM now. I have a small question you said I should flash rom with Gapps to install google apps on the jellybean ROM. For me that doesn't make sense..I mean how the phone will distinguish between gapps and the jellybean ROM itself. Isn't it possible when I flash gapps it overwrites the jellybean ROM itself and I lost the ROM and the phone will not be working?
Again Thank you so much for your help

Nope because the rom will be extracted to the /system partition on your phone. The gapps.zip also but it will not override anything. It will only copy some apps(.apk) to the /system/app .
Thrust me
PC Example: You copy 2 different files to one folder if the files has different names you can copy without overwriting anything

Thanks very much for all of this it will help me a lot when I get round to flashing!
In reference to this, when I'm coming to update to the latest version of this rom, what's the procedure to follow?
Hi,
I'm trying to flash Jellybean 4.1.1 build #27 but it fails no matter what. I have followed the procedure, flashed the rom, erased cache, wiped data/factory reset, rebooted on recovery.
Here's what I get:

assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "endeavoru" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "endeavoru"

[GUIDE] [how to] Update OTA Vodafone smart II without lose Full Recovery, ROOT...

Hi,
I will try to make a short tutorial how to make OTA update 4 ( in my case ) without losing (if you have) Menu Full Recovery, Root, Boot from the first version of sw that comes / came preinstalled in the phone.
From the About phone -> Software update
check availability update OTA's and download it but WARNING :
WITHOUT install it yet as you lose RECOVERY menu ... !
update.zip file will be downloaded on SDCard in dir. downloaded, from where it will be moved to the PC for editing, it is recommended to delete the folder completely from SD once you've moved the file.
The archive will be edited to remove from it, the update to Recovery and Boot and if you want also some preinstalled applications.
You have to delete the following from archive:
recovery - complet
patch\boot.img.p
patch\fota-bootloader.img.p
patch\system\bin\btld.p
patch\system\bin\recovery.p
I wiped myself in the past also these applications that were preinstalled, so I deleted form this archive:
custpack\app\FBAndroid_20120723_1.9.7-preload.apk
custpack\app\Twitter-3.2.2-release.apk
custpack\JRD_custres\app\LiveWallpapersPicker-res.apk
custpack\JRD_custres\app\LiveWallpapers-res.apk
custpack\JRD_custres\app\MagicSmokeWallpapers-res.apk
custpack\JRD_custres\app\VisualizationWallpapers-res.apk
attached script edited by me acording to my needs ( to be able to attach I have to put the extension TXT);
I removed from script:
- checking all applications version
- install the version that I have previously uninstalled
-update for Recovery and Boot :
you will have to edit the update script from:
META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script
You will copy the modified archive on SDCard and install from the recovery menu: Install ZIP from SD, then it will restart the phone and you will have to restore the phone to Factory, so back-up you'r data first.
If you want after it reboots and starts initializing, may again enter in the Recovery menu and delete from there, Cahe, Dalvik, User time...
here you have original OTA 4 from Vodafone Romania file update.zip untouched:
http://www.2shared.com/file/5Ct2jhTX/update.html
and here you have modified file acording to my needs, tested and instaled from recovery zip, working 100% in my phone:
http://www.2shared.com/file/XOMD87w-/update01.html
All the best.

OTA update bootloop fix [S-ON] [BU] [Stock Rooted ROM]

Hi, I found a way to fix this bootloop which happens after you flash the latest ota update if you have unlocked and rooted your stock rom.
I own a HTC E8 China Unicom [M8Sw - dual sim], but I think it will work on other variants.
It is the SU binary/files which are preventing the phone from updating correctly.
You can also restore a clean unrooted TWRP backup and do the OTA update.. it will work just fine.
This tutorial is for those who don't want to lose their app data and modifications.
To be able to update... you need to fully unroot the phone before. Well, this was previously not possible due to system write protection.
(There are also other methods of unrooting. (deleting the SU files manually with the file manager of TWRP recovery) This doesn't work, I have tried it myself..often cause bootloops.)
But now we have a custom recovery mod which enables us to write to the system partition and thus can fully unroot with SuperSU app itself.
Requirements:
-some expertise with adb/flashing/twrp recovery management will be needed.
-stock firmware.zip, inside the OTA zip file, where you will find you stock recovery, boot image, etc
-Stock ROM, rooted with no modified existing system files
-TWRP Recovery from @Captain_Throwback works fine. I used the 2.8.6.0 one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/orig-development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3060188
-untouched Stock Kernel Modules (IMPORTANT)
-SchKernel Extra 3.3, to gain write permission to /system http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/general/schkernel-extra-3-3-t3200090
[UPDATE: SchKernel Extra has been updated to 3.5 and the old one is not available for download on the other thread. You can find attached at the bottom of this section ver3.3 which I had used. Please don't use ver3.5 as a user has reported having bootloop with that.)
-Battery +80 charge recommended...the process gonna demand a lot of power.
-Patience... loads of it....
Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you brick or damage you phone!!
Before you flash anything, be sure to have a working twrp full backup of you phone! In case anything goes wrong.
STEPS:
1. Copy the untouched kernel 'modules' folder [found in system/lib/ in your phone] to another location ( for e.g. to your internal phone memory), you're gonna need it later.
2. Flash the twrp recovery if you haven't already and boot into TWRP recovery.
3. flash SchKernel Extra 3.3 kernel mod. It will launch the aroma installer. There will be options as overclocking/underclocking etc..
I left everything on STOCK option, disabled Swipe2sleep, unselected the everything in the optional addition page. Then went to install it.
4. Reboot, and open SuperSU app, go into setting, tap the FULL UNROOT option, this might take a while. The first time, when the unrooting notice shows and it seems that the app is not doing anything, you might be required to exit the app by pressing home button. Then open the app again and redo FULL UNROOT option. If you exit the app and when re-opening it, the "unrooting notice" is still there, then it means it is working. This might take a bit of trial and error.
5. Ultimately, SuperSU app will close. Then you will need to reboot. You will see that SuperSU is gone and that you have no root access.
6. Now, turn it off again to go to fastboot. Connect to PC and flash the stock boot.img via adb to restore the stock kernel.
8. Then, in twrp recovery, mount /system partition and got to advanced >> file manager..
9. Now browse to /system/lib/ and delete the 'modules folder'.
This is because the SchKernel Extra 3.3 kernel mod flashed previously has modified your kernel modules and when you will try to update the OTA, the stock recovery will report that the kernel modules (xxxxx.ko) has be modified and it will stop the OTA update process.
10. Remember the previous untouched stock 'modules' folder you copied previously, now move it to /system/lib/HERE , to replace the deleted folder.
[DO STEP 9 BEFORE - Don't try to overwrite the folder, it won't be possible. It said operation failed for me. ]
Optional: You might also want to delete su.d folder in \system and init.d folder in system\etc
these files were for the custom kernel and won't be needed anymore.
11. Reboot into fastboot mode, connect to PC (if not already), flash stock recovery.
12. Now, you're good to flash the OTA updates. :good:
-Download it, if not already done.
If ever you have downloaded from PC and copied it to phone, and for whatever reason the phone is not detecting the zip file and asking for install.
Just move it to you exeternal SD card and rename it to "ptt.zip" , go into stock recovery and go down the list to "apply update from SD card"
and it should flash the zip file. When done, select the reboot option and it will say reboot to flash firmware.zip and the will boot. :fingers-crossed:
When booting it will take some time (3 to 8 mins), and then go to the "Android is updating - optimizing apps" screen. This might take a lot of time if you have a lot of apps installed. The phone might get really hot during this process.
When the OS finally boot completely there will be an "HTC" screen and an exclamatin mark in the notification bar. NO WORRIES, it is the just the update working. It will go away when the update is fully processed.
After OTA update is done, you can make a twrp backup of the unrooted system, so that you can restore it for future OTA updates.
If some steps are confusing, feel free to ask for any clarification
Hope I helped you. Don't forget to hit thanks

how did you flash it exactly?
Did you flash it thought TWRP recovery?
also...what variant of HTC e8 are you using?
Thank you for this guide. :good:
For the newbies, here are exact instructions for each step. TWRP is required; presumably you have this because you've rooted your phone. (If you haven't rooted your phone, what are you doing here?)
Note that rebooting to TWRP can be accomplished in several ways:
Long-press the power button; when prompted choose Reboot. When the screen goes black, press and hold the Volume Down key. This will take you to hboot; from there choose Recovery.
Enable developer mode from settings, plug in to a computer, and issue the command adb reboot recovery.
Also note that it is prudent to do a full TWRP backup to external storage (microSD, USB OTG) before anything else, so you have a good recovery point if things go wrong.
To copy the system/lib/modules directory, you can use a root-enabled file explorer or TWRP. To do it in TWRP:
Reboot to TWRP.
In TWRP, select Mount. Make sure that system is checked.
Back to the main TWRP menu, select Advanced.
In the advanced menu, select File Manager. Then navigate to /system/lib/modules.
Tap on Select, then Copy Folder. Navigate to a new location - I used /sdcard/Backup - and tap Select again. Don't use your external SD or USB-OTG, they may not preserve permissions correctly.
To flash the SchKernel Extra, copy the ZIP file to your device, reboot into TWRP, and select Install. From there, navigate to where you copied the ZIP file and select it; then follow the prompts as sanijsnj specified.
Removing SuperSU works exactly as described. Don't forget to reboot at the end (although it may not be necessary).
To flash the stock boot, in a cmd window where you have the Android SDK, typically in the sub-folder platform-tools enter: fastboot flash boot boot.img (boot.img from the OTA ZIP).
To delete and restore /system/lib/modules, follow the steps above, starting of course from your saved 'modules' directory and copying to /system/lib.
To flash the stock recovery, again in the cmd window enter: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (recovery.img from the OTA ZIP).

Roms for GT-I8160P version guide

Hi people, here is a short instruction if you have a P or L version of the I8160 and want to update this (great) old phone. credits to xdas-e
for a while i thought that roms didnt work on the P version, because when installing roms i got the error that the rom was only for I8160, not I8160P. so yeah it is possible, maybe this is common knowledge, but i couldnt find out how before i found this information.
I have not tested this exhaustively but i believe they all should work, because i believe the only difference from the P version is that it has an NFC module.
]------- modify the rom for P version:
1.- Get the custom ROM.
2.- Get the /system/lib/tee folder contents from your GT-I8160P JB installation (from stock rom). You may need root access, although in my case I could simply move trough the hidden directories and copy the folder to my sd card.
3.- Swap the /system/lib/tee folder, and put what you got from step 2, into the zip file of step 1, same place, same everything. You may very well dispose the original /system/lib/tee folder in the zip file.
4.- Change /system/build.prop and introduce a P in every GT-I8160 entry (from GT-I8160 to GT-I8160P).
5.- (tricky one) look for the updater script file within the custom ROM zip file, and delete (or add a P) the first complete entry of the assert command (you shall see some GT-I8160 there). in my case it was located under META-INF\com\google\android\.
------- from here you have successfully modified the rom for the P version, these steps just show the installation:
6.- If you dont already have CWM, get yourself one (I used this one [JB] CWM Recovery 6).
7.- Put both zip files into your sd card; get a copy also of gapps (google apps, play store etc) for the android version of the rom.
8.- Back up all your data.
9.- Swicht off your phone and restart in recovery mode (up volume, home and power buttons pressed simultaneously).
10.- Load from the external sd card the CWM zip file.
11.- Make a full ROM backup to restore if things go wrong. Wipe data/factory reset; wipe cache partition; wipe dalvik cache (under advance options), format /system if needed (see rom instructions).
12.- Install from external sd card: a) custom CM rom; and b) gapps if you're for it.
13.- Restart.
14.- You shall be done!!! (first boot takes a long time)
good luck! my phone was crap with stock and now it works great, so basically it saved me from buying a new phone.. a big thanks to all the rom developers for this device .

I dont think you've booted into TWRP yet, I think you're looking at bootloader, select recovery and see if it boots to TWRP.
TWRP has more than just 2 options, are you sure you have TWRP? What version is it? Does it look like this?

If that's what you have, select Install then find your .img and flash it.

I remember now that TWRP doesn't flash system.img correctly, system.img isn't a standard .img, you need PC and use fastboot.

I know it is too late, but you can enter in Advaced > Terminal and then run this command:
dd if=/sdcard/system.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system
If your mobile phone doesnt have by-name symlinks you will need to enter the correct partition.

hi aex, I have the same problem but I dont have the folder
/bootdevice/by-name............
can you help me?
it will not work.
try to make a folder and "mount -o loop file in it.
and it will be not mounted also if you specify file system type.
(if it work probably you can use the file)
so ,i don't know how fastboot write in partition or probably
in to file system.
however if you do a dd of your current system partition in a file , after will be correctly mounted , or rewrited correctly in the original partition if you need.
then probably you cannot use fastboot system.img directly in twrp shell (using dd)
this is my experience (e2303 sony / pexorom 3.0 twrp 3.1.1)
if you are searching a fast way to know system partition device block
cat /etc/fstab
and look for system
or just mount system in twrp , then in a terminal do a
df -h
and search for system
for e2303 was /dev/block/mmcblk0p30
(example)
twrp have busybox and light kernel.
so , is linux.
for better support try to ask

u need to use simg2img
(sparse file format compression)
system partition device name can be different on other phones.
done.
img can be write by twrp whitout pc/fastboot.

giuseppe
just go to file manager and search for system partition, and on first part type your system.img location and 2 part type just system location
I did this Steps on my Huawei P8. Sim2Img reported a non sparse image, so i moved directly to the DD steps. But after writing the image to the partition, the /system Partition cannot get mountet...
What the hell iam doing wrong ????
I extracted the system.img from an update.app Firmware file.
Its the same Firmware file i flashed before with the dload method.
I want to install TWRP on my Phone with an faulty USB Port. So i have no PC / ADB. I Installed the Firmware via the official Dload Method from Huawai. Then i used this crappy Kingroot to get root and installed TWRP. Now i wanted to flash the stock system partition to get rid of Kingroot for Safetynet.
But why i cant just flash the systempartition ?
Or is there another way to gain root for 15 seconds without traces ?

Why not just use the settings in Kingroot to remove root? Or convert from Kingroot to SuperSu then use SuperSu app settings to remove root?
You don't have to flash the stock system to remove root.

Kingroots uninstall leaves traces in /system/xbin and Safetynet wont work. Why i did not try Supersu ? :-/
But i managed to flash the system.img without problems.
First i tryed an extracted system.img from the Huawei Firmware extractor and Sim2img reported an invalid sparse image. So i thought it must be a raw image.....And this was my mistake. It is a useless image for TWRP.
So i created a flashable zip (TWRP cant flash this, too and the /system partition is not mountable after flashing / installing this zip.
BUT, the system.img INSIDE this zip is a spase image, which sim2img can handle. It gave me a nice raw image which i just dd´d to /system and BINGO, my phone starts up normally
The Short Version :
- Create a FLASHABLE ZIP with the Huawei Firmware Extractor
- use SIM2IMG in TWRP Terminal to get a RAW Image.
- dd´it to the /system partition
System img
You use the restore in twrp to flash your system img, you just until the other boxes
Edit: Sorry wrong thread
Lenovo K5 Pro ROM img
After flashing img file (using TWRP 3.3.1) the phone (Lenovo k5 pro) starts in bootloader mode. Everyone can help?
Help u
Hi u can download a deodexed rom because ais doesn't support some stock roms for ex ch Samsung roms. then decompile it.then decompile it with rar or zarchiver or etc. Then install android image studio (ais) from google
Then open it and tap unpack/mount and select system.img or system.img.ext4 file in decompiled rom . After mounting, copy all files to a directory for ex emulated/0/system/system or another. Attention if you copy it in another directory, rename it as (system) now copy the boot.img from decompiled rom into emulated/0/system .then download this file
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...oid-o-beta-redesigned-emoji-set-t3608280/amp/
Extract meta-inf file into emulated/0/system using winrar or zarchiver or etc. Now you need to have a system folder, boot.img file and a Meta-inf in diractory emulated/0/system. Now compress system, boot.img and meta-inf into one archive and after completing, turn of your device and boot it into twrp recovery and wipe data and cache without wipping internal storage then select install. Then tap select storage and select internal storage.then go to the file and select it and turn off zip singuature verification and install it after installing tis rom, install root zip file and wipe cache/dalvik art and then reboot your device. It may take between 5-25 minutes to boot. Enjoy your new rom
#issues
Sometimes your device maybe take bootloop so you need to install your stock boot.img file and after installing your root zip file choose wipe cache/dalvik art and then reboot your system.
#Alert
1.Don't install the recovery.img file which exists in the decompiled rom because it takes your device into recovery mod and not boot anymore and after you need to install the stock rom using PC
2.your device maybe take bootloop in this method so do it with your own risk

Reboot your device and install twrp official app and open it and select flash image from a directory and select your own twrp and reboot your device [root]
Connect your phone to a PC and install stock rom using ADB or another app which was made for your smartphone [no root]
