[Q] How to keep email offline - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I have problem with my email, when i down email from my company server in device but don't keep it after delete mail on mail server.
thanks

Most likely you're using an Exchange server and the IMAP4 Protocol. IMAP has synchronized email inboxes, so deleting an email on the server should delete the email from all synched inboxes (your phone).
Maybe try setting up a POP3/STMP account, I guess that could work if you want your email inboxes to be not syncrhronized.

Exchange Server and Push Mail

I am currently using Cingulars 8125, and Active Sync 4.1.0. What are the benifits of syncing directly to an exchange server?
if u have access to your servers remotely, and the servers are configured to do it, you can sync email, calendar etc directly with it and keep both upto date.
this can be done over wifi or gprs.
then there is push email, which isn't a sync as such, but servers will push data to your device when the server records a change.
thus on the road, or at home, you can sync directly, not needing to keep a pc or laptop with you.
I use it and think it is great.
you still use pc sync for files, music and others. the main are email, calendar, tasks and contacts.
there is a free service called mail2web at mail2web.com which gives you mail2web live which is an active sync server to sync to for free and you just set up an email account and it pushes email to your phone for you whenever you recieve new mail and its great i love it
cybiker,
how do you push the emails from mail2web to your cell phone??
I am totally lost.... Please help.
Thx
Maggie
open activesync
configure server souirce
username [email protected]
server:mobile.exchange.mail2web.com
pass:
domain: ad2
uncheck SSL
then adjust advandce settings to as items arrive.

Send mails from "Outlook E-mail" account

Hello,
Is it possible to send mails from the "Outlook E-mail" account which is synchronized with my Outlook from Windows mobile phone ? When I want to answer to a mail, it is saved in outbox and then after next sync my Outlook sends it. so i always have to use my own configured mail account there. and answering on a mail from "Outlook E-mail" is not possible...
Hi,
for doing this, you need to configure your mobile device to fetch e-mail directly from your isp's mailaccount via pop3 or imap. that's something completely different from active sync.
be aware, if you configure pop3 you need to leave a copy of the mail on the mailserver for pop3 downloads messages. in that case you'll get your mails only on one device (mobile OR pc/notebook). the solution would be imap.
so you need to configure your mobile device just like your outlook account on you pc/notebook (server, username, password).
Plus, you'll need to have a look on your data transfer. if you access you mailaccount directly, the mails charge your dataplan. so take care of size limitations while configuring your mobile device (only headers prob, and limit size of attachments unless you do not want to download huge mails).
Hope this helps,
tsfnet
No other way?
I have my outlook account, synchronised with all mail downloaded at the office and an imap account to retrieve emails on the go. As the imap account is cleared after office download, there is no archive inside. Both accounts are linked to the same email address.
I would like to be able to work on my mails (outlook account) and then send replies thanks to the imap account.
In office 2007 there is an option to enable you to select the account to be used for repling or sending emails. No such option in WM6?
Thanks
Michel
Ps. On top anyway to retrieve several emails accounts in one go?
I think you are looking to sync your company email. You will need your IT dept to set up Exchange for you to do this:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob...ketpcphone/email/company/exchangeoverair.mspx
Thanks.
Sadly I'm not using a Microsoft Exchange Server.
Outlook is directly retrieving emails from my imap server (sync with my Kaiser). When I'm roaming, I retrieve mails on the imap server directly.
I'm not able to reply to mails previously sync (outlook account) when I'm not at the office - This is an issue as I'm consultant and I stay days without coming back to my home base.
Thanks for your help
Michel
Message up.
Sorry & Thanks
hey man i hated that too i thought that m$ didnt make this a thing you can do out the box.. just download emoze or another similar app that will push everything to your phone and from your phone to your comp.. if i were you when you do this dont have it push your contacts because when you plug in to active sync it doubles
Thanks - I will give it a try.
But it is weird it is not possible to select the account to be used when sending/replying to emails.
I tried to copy/past my answer from my outlook (sync) account to my roaming one and this is not even working.
Any other idea?
Thx
M
No solutions?
Maybe using another email client?
thx
M.
pocket outlook is gimped without exchange... also, exchange 2003 has push enabled if it's up on service pack but lacks html email and some other instant sync capabilities that 2007 has...
if i didn't setup my own server i would def say paying for hosted exchange is worth it... ive messed with all those other sync/push clones but nothing comes anywhere near to the functionality/ease-of-use of having direct sync with exchange.
I will check for an hosted exchange server.
As a temp solution I will try FlexMail 2007: It is possible to reply to sync mail with another account.

Would this fix your problem? Set Outlook on your PC to "Leave a copy of messages on the server", and have your Kaiser retrieve all your messages from the IMAP server directly, whether you're in the office or not. If the Kaiser is connected via ActiveSync, it will use your PC's internet connection anyway, so no extra network charges.
That way all your emails are in one account on the Kaiser, and you could even turn off Outlook mail syncing in ActiveSync and reply directly to emails from the IMAP account on the Kaiser.
If you can't find "Leave a copy of messages on the server" in Windows Outlook, on my version (Outlook 2003) it's under Tools/Email Accounts/View or Change/Change/More Settings/Advanced (well hidden).
Can't confirm this option is there for IMAP - I use POP3 myself.

I haven't done too much looking at exchange hosting solutions but I think $10/month is the minimum you'll find... mail2web appears to have good hosting solutions.. you can try out their free service but it requries you to use their email address unless you upgrade to the $10/month plan.
Hi I just downloaded windows live onto my verizon xv6800, but when i go into setup new email account in outlook and enter my email address and select automatically get settings, it then says found settings for msn.com, but then it just transfers me to windows live. I cannot get outlook to send and recevie messages. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreicated.

MS Exchange - How many domain, email redirections ?

Hello lucky people using MS Exchange,
Do you know how many domain name are you using on you MS Exchange account ?
I would like to be able to have 2 alias with 2 different domain name on a MS Exchange, but don't know if it is possible ? I am planning to open a 1 user MS Echange account at Sherweb.
And I would like to know if I can redirect my Gmail account to my MS Exchange account ? and is it possible to reply to these email as if I was sending it from Gmail ?
Many thanks, Chris
It's possible but only if the two mailboxes are hosted on the same cluster. It sounds like you're trying to access your work Exchange mail and a Sherweb account, which is currently not possible. Exchange doesn't have a feature which checks a POP3 account and downloads the mail as far as I know but if Gmail has a feature which forwards all mail then that could work. You can't reply to those emails from Exchange and appear as if it was sent from Gmail, but you can set up the actual Gmail account on your phone and send from it.
I did not want to access to my work email account, just use 2 different domain name on 1 MS Exchange mailbox.
Can I use on 1 MS Exchange mailbox, 2 email alias with a 2 different domain name (for example: with the 2 domain names 'example1.com' and 'example2.com') ?
Thanks, Chris

[Q] Calendar invites - sending from wrong email account

I'm having trouble working out how to reliably send calendar invites from the stock calendar app on the ChaCha.
The calendar syncs perfectly with a google calendar using exchange sync (the google calendar is NOT associated with a gmail account, it is only associated with a Google account that is registered under a personal email address).
Very occasionaly when an event is added with additional atendees the phone manages to send the invite properly (or possibly the google calendar sends the invite when the even synchronises using exchange synch?).
Most of the time, however, I get an email dropped in the outbox of the exchange account (which has no email service associated with it).
Maybe I need to explain the accounts a bit... using examples (the names have been changed to protect the ino...etc)
Exchange account:
Account name: Joe Bloggs (Google Sync)
username: [email protected]
password: joespass
server: m.google.com
Synchronizing: calendar and contacts only
POP3 account:
Account name: [email protected]
username: [email protected]
password:joesemailpass
pop3 server: pop3.bloggs.com
smtp server: mail.bloggs.com
The Google calendar in the [email protected] Google account works fine and is sync'd to the phone no problem (as are contacts).
The POP3 email account works fine for sending and receiving email.
However, when a calendar event is created and invitees are added to the event, most of the time the email is created to be sent from the "[email protected] (Google Sync)" account and therefore fails to be sent as there is no email service associated with this account. This failing email then sits in the 'Google Sync' account outbox and the phone tries to send it repeatedly and repeatedly fails leaving an error message in the status bar at the top of the phone.
Every so often, though, the invite email gets sent correctly and is delivered to the invitees and appears in their calendars correctly...
I've tried both clicking 'Send' in he create/edit event screen, clicking 'Send' then 'Save', and just clicking 'Save' and I can;t work out any consistent behaviour.
If anyone can give me any pointers as to what I'm doing wrong.
I really don't want invites sent from a gmail account so don't want to associate email sync with the Google Sync account if at all possible. Also the fact that the invites get sent sometimes would appear to show that what I want to do is possible.
Final bit of info: The POP3 email account is configured as the default acount on the phone (so should, in theory, e the one hat invites get sent from).

HI, have you found a solution to this problem? I have something similar.
Thanks
Jay
