How is the G2X treating you? - T-Mobile LG G2x

i have had the g2x for a while
and it is a great phone!
love it!
but im kinda coming from a Mt4g, im missing sense :[
anyways,
i just wanted to start a thread asking users....
HOW IS YOUR G2X TREATING YOU?

Mine has been flawless, (little screen bleed) got it 4/20, its just tha everybody and they mama got a g nexus makes me itch for one, other than that patiently awaiting ics.
NVIDIA NEVER AGAIN!

Never eva again lol

I love my g2x it was the phone i really wanted to get coming from a g1, but i settled for a mt4g first(also a great phone btw) Theres not really any other phone i would be interested in except maybe the epic 4g touch on sprint, but now that ive already decided not to go that route and wait to see what beasts of phones come out early to mid next year i have grown to appreciate my G2x even more since ICS will unlock all of our phones true potential and prolong its staying power.
I will admit some specs of the galaxy nexus are decent but the main dealbreaker for me is its no external sdcard. I feel like Samsung gimps the nexus line of phones so they can put most of their ideas and technology into their own galaxy s devices. The 1200x720 resolution display is awesome but i can achieve that as well on my g2x with lcd resolution or lcd density apps. HTC needs to make the next Nexus imho as they did the best job of all three so far.

This phone is just a misunderstood beast
If we had the proper support of source codes or drivers im sure this thing could of gone to the moon and back, but that's neither here nor there. In my experience and still to this day im glad i chose this phone. I probably be like others and really hate it if i had the reboot issues and etc though.

I got mine used about 2 months ago, and while I had some minor problems at the beginning, I wouldn't trade it for anything else in T-Mobiles lineup.

I like it much more after finding this website and flashing a rom. It has some sweet power, but LG's quality control is... lacking.
Not to hijack, but how long does cell phone hardware last? Does the cpu, internal memory, etc go after a year or 2 or should it work for a long time?

Well, the phone, hardware wise is great, and throw in a custom ROM and kernel, you're good!

I love this phone. And when ICS comes out it'll unlock even more potential.

i have no major complaints about this phone except for the fact that i have to restart it twice a day because it gets "bogged down" too quickly. i don't even use many apps so it should be able to handle my light usage a lot better. once i restart it, it's perfect for like the next twelve hours :|

cant use it as a phone lol
everything works great i get a slight popping sound in call drives me nuts brand new only used for 3 days so i use my nokia 3711 no reboots or or anything

To be honest, I liked my Nexus One better than this phone. Tech specs were (are?) beast when it first came out, but due to software limitations it's pretty much outdated at this point. Maybe I am hating on it too much but it's just not perfect in my opinion.

Bought mine in June and loved it! and currently, still loving it! im one of the Blessed few that got a perfectly working G2x out of the box minus (a instalock functioning GPS) which is now fixed thanks to the updated baseband. this phone is a SPEED demon. with all the necessary accessories to keep it cutting edge HDMI, 8MP Cam w/flash, FFC etc. i tend to go in and play with all the new "flagship" phones currently in the stores, and yet to see a phone that makes this phone look/feel "outdated" screen even still looks amazing even compared to the beastly SGSII. So the G2x is treating me AWESOME and im sure will continue to do so until my point of upgrade (if i even feel necessary to do so). Also special shout out to all the AMAZING developers that allow us to get a "new phone feel" with all the custom roms/ Themes and development etc.

Starting to appreciate it more. Wanted an htc amaze badly due to wanting to experience the sense ui. But after some comparing I would rather stick with this phone bcuz its perfect for me since running cm7 on it. Waiting for ics to blow my mind on this device. This phone is very underrated, I don't kno why but it is.
Tried the miui Rom and liked some of the features (mainly pop up texts that I can respond to without leaving a game or video) but switched to cm7 shortly after and am very satisfied. Phone doesn't lag anymore, runs smooth and I don't have to pull the battery out 4 to 5 times a day any more. In fact I may have to do it once or twice a week. I have a new fondness for my G2X now. Got it on 420 when they thought I was in line that morning for the sidekick lol. I may use this phone longer than ive ever used a phone before. Normally would switch every 4-6 months... almost did with the amaze 4g. But 500-600 bucks def not worth it.

I've had mine since late April and it's never let me down. I switched from a Galaxy S 4G, which I exchanged for the G2x, and I don't regret it one bit. This phone handles anything I throw at it with no problem. My GPS was basically broken until the new baseband update came out, now it locks in seconds. I've only had one random reboot since I've had the phone, and that was because I was messing with UV settings in SetCPU. I'm not looking to upgrade anytime soon.

@contact25
Try using the handcent app, it does the popup feature as well. Usually for a 3D game like most Tegra 2 games it will take like five seconds to reload but you won't lose any progress.

Do you still get the same instant gps locks running bionix?

I came from a MyTouch 3G 32b. 528MHz processor, and 192mb of RAM... Talk about an upgrade!

No complaints at all. Came from an HD2 to this phone and it was worth it. Fastest android I've ever had.

Amazing phone! Came from an HD2 (which was also an amazing phone) and I'm just loving the speed in the G2x. I haven't had any dropped calls or random reboots.

SGS4 or Nexus S

Im so confused on which one to get. I mean the SGS2 is a vibrant with 4g pretty much? And i dont know if the nexus s has 4g capability? I can get the sgs4 for 139. and the nexus s off best buy for 99. Really want to based this on development. So any info i would appericate it
nexus is best your choice .
Can you give me a more detailed answer as in why? I mean i like the sgs4 cause i always liked the vibrant. But the nexus s does have development. The only thing that scares me is the Internal 16gb which will lead into corrupting if a bad flash is done!
I recently had to make the same decision and had friends with both I borrowed for a week.
The nexus s is amazingly fast. It boots and shuts down in a fraction of the time. It has flash for the camera. It has gps that actually works right out of the box. It has a cooler design and a much more solid feel. It has the nfc that you will probably never use. It has premium support and google ota updates of the newest stuffs. The usb port also has a much nicer feel.
Video playback is poor compared to the vibrant.
It lacks support for most 3d games.
There is no sd card slot
No gorilla glass
I have owned several vibrants and everything that is true for them is true for the sgs4g. The screen is amazing and is protected by gorilla glass. Video playback is second to none. Games play like a dream.
Gps is essentially unusable on most handsets.
The case is cheap feeling and looking.
No flash for camera
I decided video playback and game support was more important than flash and gps but I am upset those are the best choices. You might be wise to just wait for the price to drop on the x2.
Texted While Driving
Im coming from sprint. I had both evo and epic. The evo had great devs, while the epic has little to no support at all. CM7 and MIUI are still in alpha stages. I just dont want the sgs4 to be like the epic. I was looking at the lg gxs or whatever their having alot of issues on the first batch released(bleeding screen, phone wont connect to 3g) Mt4g(feels cheap though) sgs4 or nexus are the only ones i would consider getting.
If I could go back in time I would choose the mt4g rooted with cm7, sgs4g has its benefits like said earlier except I don't use it for movies or gaming I bounce between apps often and fast and the sgs4g would sometimes lag.
So I bought the g2x and while it is wicked fast and extremely strong with already great support for development, the phone has its issues and chooses when the issues will come up, I would just go scan the general thread for the g2x real quick

It seems to me, the SGS4G is slow to get developer support for ROMS and such. That is the only reason I regret owning one. However, after rooting and applying the FOTA fix, it is a cool phone.
From my understanding, phones like the Nexus will have tons of ROMS and customization because they are not tainted by integrations such as Samsung's Touch Wiz and are easier to work with.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
Sgs4g I like the video playback but thats just my opinion. Gps is pretty good for me and it is true no dev support on the sgs4g I mean not as much as other phonea so of you are looking to play around with the phone like changing roms and kernels stuff like that I wouldnt recommend unless you dont mind waiting which is my case I dont mind waiting so I dont have any complaints. One last thing it does lag here and there but is not that bad. Really cant say much about nexus s I havent even play with it. G2x was mentioned it is a beast pgone but I went to the g2x forums and there were a los of complaints with the screen you ahould go check it out. Best thing to do is just go to the forums of each device and read about it, comments and complaints and it would help a lot.

I think the sgs4g is the best device I've owned but thats after doing some system tweaks like getting root, freezing some apps, alter minfree to strict settings for better ram handling when swapping applications, changing the disk scheduler to deadline, doing the fota files fix and getting a class 6 micro sd card. After all that this phone has never lag or failed period. But out the box...is fast. Once u have used it for about a week or two thats when you could start seing lag by either apps you have downloaded and new services running in the background not counting the unnecesary ones that were already running when you first get it...gps works flawlesly and so does everything else, but thats after you hack the phone the way you want it...
Up to you though...
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
The only reason the Nexus s is any faster is because it came stock with the ext4 file system. Our phones have the same file system as the Vibrant (rfs) It is not efficient, and that is where our lag is coming from.
We will start seeing some ROMS that will have ext4 built into them. When we do get this we will see quad scores around 1700-1800. To give you an idea our phones stock will score around 900. EXT4 ruffly doubles the speeds of the system. Now if you add ext4 with an overclocked kernel. The scores will be around if not higher than 2000.
This phone will be very fast and stable in not to long.
Thanks guys for the help. I went to go play with the following phones today:
g2x- Front looks really nice, and the display showed sharped for lcd. BUT my epic seems faster? and the back of the phone is FUGLY I mean the color, color........color lol! Reminds me of those cheap boost mobile off the wall colors. A case may solve that problem but i wouldnt pay 200 for it knowing how the back looked to me.
g2- Fast little thing, seen the potiental of it on xda, pretty much a better looking sprint htc evo shift 4G. BUT the demo hinge was BARELY on the phone. Soo going have to pass on that looks like a future problem.
mt4g- The best one of the group. Fast, comfortable in hand, light and Fast and xda support helps it there in my book. BUT its looks cheap. I mean how the color contrast clash on the phone. If i got one had to be either be the red one or white one.
sgs4- Some idiot STOLE THE DEMO! soooo i gotta go back tomorrow to look at it!!!
Nexus s- Actually locally a guy was selling one on CL. So i meet him to look at it. the screen is awesome of course cause of the superman screen lol! BUT the phone Looks cheaper than the mt4g!!!! I mean its all plastic and black gloss. Drop it and your gonna be hurting really bad. Also you have to deal with best buy and google since they sell it and tmobile just provides the service. I may sound anal but im a complex thinker and i always think ahead of myself.
Whole day of researching and im still confused and dont know which one to get lol!!!!

I'm a proud owner of a G2x... though some screens have bleeding issues.... mine doesn't... There are plenty of G2x's that are doing just fine, it's just easier to complain.... If you do have issues, you will have a 1 year warranty which means you will be able to switch it when new batches come out and by then issues should have been fixed... Whatever you do BUY THE PHONE IN STORE to test the device... Play with the settings and everything! If you are going to get a phone GET THE BEST there is to offer you and right now that would be the G2x...
SGS4G and Nexus S both have their flaws and are similar devices... The Nexus S isn't 4g capable (if that matters to you)... the SGS4G isn't anything to dazzle over and the Touch Wiz UI isn't my favorite... If you can wait a little longer it may be worth looking at the HTC Sensation...
No offense but i dont see why people rave so much about the sensation. Its a dual core evo 4g. Had two evo 4g when i was with sprint.......Nothing special. Sure it will probably have a bunch of dev support. But to me its not something wanting on for.
But after reading more reviews and seeing on the g2x side. Its not seeming so bad now. Also you have to consider that im coming to tmobile so late while the g2 mt4g and nexus s are kinda old i guess you can say. Even though the g2 and mt4g will get 2.3 but i think thats about it for them as OTA updates.
the Nexus S 4G...on TMO...would be......oh wait...why am I dreaming again
Get teh Samsung Galaxy S4G if you're planning to get a data plan and actually use it
SGS4
Very low internal space, 200MB as apposed to the Vibrants 16G. The phone benchmarks pretty low. But it does have the fastest antenna at 21mbs.
Nexus S
Wow it has a curved screen..... but no SD card support???? Why? Pretty cool but the download speeds will be lower because no 4g support.
If you're looking for the best I suggest the G2x or G2. I personaly use the G2 and it is amazing. But tmo just launched the G2x and it is to die for. Amazing 8MP camera, dual core processor, hdmi out for hdtv support. Get that if anything, the two phones you're deciding between have already been out dated by the G2x.
Sent from my Vision using XDA App
Wait til the Sensation or even better the SGS 2....but wait something will come out better right after...mytouch 4g slide anyone...??
It sounds like the price is a concern of the op.... I say go for the nexus s... the network speed increase with the sgs4g is not enough to overcome the lack of developer support. And its cheaper. Then again... the g2x is your best choice ATM... if you have the $$$.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
I had the SGS4G and exchanged it for the G2x and I have no regrets. This phone is amazingly fast and responsive and dev support is already awesome. Within 2 or 3 days the phone had clockworkmod working through ROM manager.
Pretty amazing. Plus Cyanogen, Team Whiskey and others already got the phone and are working on the ROM.
If you still have a choice I say go with the G2x. Dual core is future proof. Just came out, so this phone will probably be good for the next 2 years.
Hope that helps with your decision

Sell my g2x?

So I was on the border of whether or not to buy the g2x, or wait for the sensation. The locked bootloader on the sensation sealed the deal and on april 20th, 2011, I was the proud owner of a shiny new G2x! A little background is in order... I've been using Htc's since g1. Fast forward through an mt3g, n1, hd2 (android) and an mt4g. Always happy until the washed out screen on the mt4g. But I'm not one to complain, so it was all good. I gave my wife the mt4g when I bought the g2x. Shes running evild's sensation rom. And I must say, IT HAS GIVIN THE MT4G A NEW LIFE! Ive actually gotten a little jealous... I've had random reboots when ocing, lag with certain roms,, and freezing with certain roms. But nothing a battery pull can't fix. My question is, when the sensation is available, should I sell the g2x and buy the sensation? What is everyones opinion and why...

Do what you feel, I'm having none of the issues mentioned here.
Your phone, your choice.
My advice would be to wait about 30 days. By then the official gingerbread update will be out (hopefully) and with that, new kernel and baseband for the devs to develop new roms.

Ultimately yes ill do what I want. My wife told me to buy the sensation and keep the g2x... I can only use one device at a time lol I have no use for 2 devices... I think I'm just disappointed in the unreliabilty of my specific g2x. And its obviously a widespread issue. Needless to say, as fond as I am of the g2x, I'm seriously considering selling it and getting the sensation. Plus, I'm getting bored with the g2x and maybe even the whole constant flashing and modding in general. Spending hours modding framework and editing .pngs just seems to be getting too tedious I guess. On the flip side, the sensation is a solid respectable device with great hardware. Rooted or not. And I'm sure someone will have the unlock key dropped in their lap soon enough ;-). I'm just looking for an excuse to not sell this monster lol

I agree about the Sensation looking solid, but my G2x and many others where bought fairly cheap. I got mine for 119 from amazon. For that price I'll gamble. So far my gamble has paid back. Great device with barely any hiccups. Makes my Nexus S look bad.

I paid 200 after rebate... In release day. Cheap... Definitely, but the full price of the phone was cheap to begin with, so I guess the contact price is relevant. It will be interesting to see what the sensation goes for a month after release in craigslist...

That would be interesting to see what the price would be on craigslist. I've got so many phones to choose from it's really about preference. I've got 5 lines all have net and all have upgrades available. My kids and wife get my hand me downs. For me at the moment the G2X has no competition on T Mobile. The minor hiccups are software related for sure. So there going to be fixed or some great rom will make it perfect. Currently running stock with the bloat removed and it's snappy. No reboots, hardly no backlight issues, keyboard has no lag, so if I compare to my other phones which are Nexus S, Nexus One, Sidekick 4G, G2, and my dads Inspire. I'm definitely liking this phone. It would take the Sensation to really be sensational to make this phone go. My wife already has her hopes up that I'll fall for the Sensation, she loves the G2X. The phone is great, has some issues but I'm sure LG will fix them all. Guess if your phone is screwy, demand they replace and give you a new one. But I definitely waited to see what this phone was capable of before I pulled the trigger, I'll do the same with the Sensation.

Yea, I will be buying the sensation outright if I get it. The support for the g2x has been phenomenal. Which is my biggest reason for holding in to it. Tmobile has always been deutschebags about swapping my handset. Even though I buy atleast 2 phones a year from them. So I'm just at the point where I am tired of dealing with them and deal with my original purchase.

Where did you read that? Im pretty sure tmo is getting the sgs2. I keep saying people should hold off until they (tmo or lg) releases these supposed updates. IMO the g2x blows away ANY of the amoled screens i have seen. and just because it has an xtra .2 processing power doesnt mean its going to be better or faster.
Once the g2x updates are released (im hoping one will be a fix for the lg and the other will be the official GB release for the g2x). ME personally I wont be getting any htc phones until they make some decent cameras. Thats just me though. its funny my g2x is near perfect other than battery drain. And battery charging takes for freaken ever. My d2 charged full in 30 min go figure! BUT my womans g2x which she got a few months after mine has almost ALL the defects: screen bleed, reboots serious battery drain, and she gets the sleep of death contstantly.

So far at least, sgs2 that cleared the FCC only has AT&T 3g bands. Not saying it won't come to TMO but that version hasn't made it stateside.

any who, I'm selling the G2X some time in the next couple weeks, I'm in the same boat as the OP, except I don't have much issues besides a tiny screen bleed top corners and a reboot since I've had the device 4/24... I just love HTC Sense and HTC phones plus I have an upgrade available so selling the G2X and getting the Sensation will not be an issue. I say sell and purchase new phone. Sense is just so amazing compared to vanilla, and I'm pretty sure the G2X wont be getting a sense ROM.

There was a tmo roadmap leaked that didn't show the galaxy s 2 but mentioned the Hercules. Also there was another leak from an accessories manufacturer that showed the names for the sprint, at&t, and Verizon gs2 but didn't mention anything for TMobile. The Hercules should be pretty much a gs2 but with a bigger screen and maybe a qualcom processor instead of exynos and 42mb/s radio
Edit: I love my g2x and the support is getting from the greatest devs in the android community. Just wanted to put that out there

Would you recommend this phone? (Vibrant user)

I've currently got a Vibrant, and my stepmom's phone is near the end of it's life- My parents are offering to buy my phone from me and so I'm looking at my options.
What does everyone here think of this phone? Anyone an ex-Vibrant user who can compare experiences for me? Thanks very much!
I didn't have a Vibrant... I wanted one though, does that count?
I recommend this phone to everyone... except future people who have quad cores on a Super-Duper AMOLED screen running Rainbow Sherbert(Android 7.4 duh).
Seriously though, it has some quirks, but is a bad a** phone...

I would not.
It has potential and I'm glad that a lot of the major developers are on board, but right now it's broken- both in stock form and in the aftermarket. Until the stock ROM can at least be said to work (and right now there are more than a few major issues) I think a recommendation of "Do Not Buy" is a good one.
And for you, specifically, coming from a Vibrant would suck since you're moving from a phone with non-working GPS to a phone with non-working GPS. Wouldn't you at least like to navigate properly once before you die?

I have to disagree. This phone is amazing. I had some minor issues running stock, but once I rooted and flashed its been smooth sailing for me. I'm running the Ultimate G2X rom and couldn't be happier with it. Everything works fine, including GPS.
I'm not denying that some have issues with their phones, but not all of us do. It really is an awesome phone and I'd recommend it to anyone. I do recommend buying it new though, in case you do have a defeectice unit so you can return it.
I've had the vibrant since release. The g2x is definitely an upgrade, though not a huge one. Gaming on the vibrant is probably better than any other single core phone so you're probably not going to notice much improvement, the screen is great, speed is decent. Even though both the vibrant and g2x have their software quirks, EVERYTHING works on the g2x(gps in particular works everytime for me where the vibrant was hit or miss, mostly miss).

I can say that I do recommend this phone. I don't think a lot of people have major issues, I certainly don't, and I bought it used in excellent condition. Tegra 2 is amazing for gaming, and everything is just really fast in general.
I came from a G2, which had a physical keyboard, easily removable battery door, and LED light. The G2x has none of these, but the only thing I really miss is the LED light, which can be remedied with an app called LG 2x/Black notifications that uses the capacitive buttons as an LED indicator
I had the Vibrant and the Vibrant 4G. When the G2X was announced, I jumped on it. I would buy it again but if you're watching new releases, there's a sweet Vibrant Galaxy S 2 comming to USA kinda soon....

Honestly? Sure, the G2X is probably better than the Vibrant...
However....
It's not THAT much better. I would save the upgrade for the NEXT generation phone after the G2X and Sensation. As far as I'm concerned, the Vibrant isn't suffering from old age yet, like the MyTouch 3G it replaced for me! Of course, the MyTouch 3G was born Geriatric.
Nah, i wouldn't recommend this phone.
Reboots.
Freezes.
Screen bleeding.
Wifi connection.

hahaha this phone is fast fast fast !
but if you have curves hands, the phone is gonna be bad...as for many people here, that the first time holding a phone with android
Thanks all for the replies... One other thing: How brick-proof is this thing? I'm loving having ODIN on my vibrant (I'm always flashing ROMs and kernals), and ODIN is a big reason why I've been really hesitant to drop the Samsung (well, and the screen and onboard memory and battery...)
Thanks again!

Tired of your HTC inspire?

I still like my inspire I'm not really interested on the new phones etc.Droid razr., galaxy nexus...
I'm holding my inspire till the HTC edge comes out =D

I get bored with phones very easily but once i got my Inspire i wanted to keep it for more than a month or 2 (which was the shelf life for a phone to me for a long time) So i rooted it to keep me busy/interested, and when i get bored i dive deeper into the root to make it better. But im at a point now where i dont know enough to go much further, and the onlyfriends i have that are into phones like i am are through here. So its hard to actually be taught anything. So i really want a new phone but not sure which direction i should go, or if i should hold out till the new batch of phones is out. In short, why cant i be satisfied with a phone nfor more than a few months?
Nope i wanna stick around until a while. The inspire is a great device
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
I will stick with it because I am on a contract and the phone is quite capable. And new phones come daily so if you sell inspire for dual core phone then quad core will come soon

I've found the Inspire to be one of the best phones I've ever owned. I think I'd only put the G1 above it in terms of phones I loved owning. The Inspire has given me 0 problems, has tons of dev support and is still very fast/snappy to use.
Not tired of it at all. I do lust for the Galaxy Nexus or the Razr while laying in bed at night...but I feel bad about it in the morning.

Lol to this
Also, I do find myself getting bored with it easily. Definitely an amazing device, but damn that Galaxy Nexus is tempting. If only it had the 8MP camera!
I actually really like my Inspire still, It's still a very capable device. I am going to be due for an upgrade in the next few months and i am going to be holding on to this phone i think for a while. Till something really catches my eye, because i really want to get another HTC device. The galaxy nexus looks sweet but im not a fan of Samsung's use of so much plastic on their phones.
My inspire makes me pancakes for breakfast every morning. I'll probably keep it until I'm tired of pancakes or my pants don't fit anymore.

That's what's so great about Android and being rooted. Get bored, flash a new ROM. Voila, new phone
No way! I love my Inspire still, it's a great phone, everything is really smooth with it right now. I'll probably hang on to it for another 18 months till i have another upgrade.
I really like my Inspire. I can not find a reason to upgrade. Nothing else out does anything different. I need a new Experiance before I will upgrade again. (or my contract is up). I had a Windows phone and modded the hell out of it and then, I went Iphone and modded it to death, and then andriod. Modded to death. See my pattern, each was a new experience. I will need a reason to leave my phone before I will.
meh...
After having issues with the battery life, I'm ready to upgrade to something with a larger battery & better screen. I'm not really hating on the phone, just disappointed with it.
Next phone I buy will be at cost, since I picked it up for $100 with a new contract.
I'm not tired of it (took 2 months only) but maybe if a little disappointed, I was recently at a concert and record some songs but my disappointment came into play, pesimo sound seemed pfffff q was in a machine room, something my old iphone that never happened to me, but good either me every day I live concerts as he remains so until q together for my new iphone 4s.
I have to say I like it and can deal with the few minor probs like battery life until the edge is released or equal to it. Sense I buy all my phones at cost I am willing to wait and see the next Gen device and right now everything else is just too weak to justify upgrading yet
So far I'm lovin' it. While this IS my first smartphone, I'd have to say I'm impressed overall with the phone. One thing bugs me though. I don't take a lot of pictures, but when I do, I like to not have to set my whitebalance to fluorescent every time I want to take a low light picture with my flash... I kinda wish the coders had implemented where if the camera sees low light, and decides to use the flash, to just set the whitebalance to fluorescent. Ahh the little things.
Overall I like the build quality, for ME it's been a solid phone, and I love modding it. Endless entertainment!
i've had mine for a couple months and it's the best phone i've ever owned and im happy with it but honestly im bored. Too many sense rom's are the same and CM7 just dosen't interest me anymore and i've been using MIUI for the last couple weeks but i'm getting to the point where i can't really expand it that much more. I'm going to try to convince my dad (im only 14) to kick my brother off of our family plan and make him go to a gophone plan as he's 19 and dosen't use his phone much and then pay the ETF and switch to verizon, with christmas coming up i think he'll do it but i'll just have to wait
Tired of it? Heck no! This is my fifth Android device and I love it. To me nothing else out at the moment is compelling enough to switch. I love the actual build quality of the phone. Too many other phones just have too much plastic on them and they feel cheap. This phone is solid. Its plenty fast and well supported in the community. My contract is up in August of 2012 so if it doesn't get bricked before then, that is what I will be using. I look forward to see the offerings then.
I've had the inspire since launch day and it has lived up to the billing so far. There's really nothing you can't do with this phone. I live in Houston which has LTE but I'm working in Odessa right now so there's no need for me to jump into an LTE device just yet. They barely have hspa+ rolled out down here. I'll probably wait until next year for the new slate of devices, when att broadens their LTE footprints.
For now I'm enjoying my inspire

I love my inspire but like others am bored of the same old roms. Wanted the vivid but with the tegra 3 quad core already in the new transformer 2 tablet I think I might wait. And Samsung I believe has a phone called the flex that is supposed to come out q2 2012 with a flexible screen and body I think there are too many better phones in the near future to justify using my upgrade now and waiting two more years to get something better. Girl I work with just ordered the vivid so i will just look at it when she gets it and go from there

Last day with a G2X

Had it since January. Want a better quality screen (resolution-wise) and camera. Other than that, HellFire was awesome to me for the most part. The most recent ICS issues with data drops really bugged me too. GPS locks were never instant, but decent - another slight nuisance. I figure for $100-$150 more a Galaxy Nexus is worth it to me at this point, or something comparable. Actually if the LG Optimus 4G LTE works for me on WIND mobile that could be a good buy for only like $50 more. I just don't know if data will be 2G speeds or not. Yet to find out. If anyone knows that and sees this message, please do respond. It's been fun, this was my first Android. Got to really figure out a lot of stuff, since with this device our support basically is the XDA forums as LG doesn't help us any. Can't believe how bad the stock ROMs are for this device. Incredible they'd even release a device with those ROMs. Anyway, selling it today and then shopping for a new Android. Likely a Galaxy Nexus at this point. Please advise if there are other options! Thanks to xoxhell and all the other developers for this device.
update to stock 2.3.4 will fix all the problem you listed
Due to my experience with this phone and lack of support from LG, I am done buying any LG products in the future. This could have been a great phone had LG just given the community development teams what they needed from the start. Do you think the experience will be any different for other LG products? I don't.

I know how you feel. Think I might use my HD2 with a WP7 ROM on it... then jump to the galaxy s3 when/if it gets here...
Hate how LG/Nvidia/T-Mobile/whoever really made this phone one of the least desirable devices when it has so much potential...

Fully aware of this. HellFire 2.2 even is great and a rock solid ROM with no issues. But, I don't really want to run Gingerbread. For $100 more I'd rather get a phone with a much nicer screen resolution and quality (bigger screen size is a minor plus as well) and a phone I don't have to worry about ICS issues with. The support for this phone is crap, let's all face it. I will miss this phone, mainly cuz it was my first Android and I had fun learning how to use Titanium effectively, how to switch between ROMs, etc (since these are absolute necessities with this phone), but man I will not miss the little nuisances I constantly had with this phone because of LG's terrible support.
And yeah, I briefly looked at the 4G LTE but when it comes down to it... the support will be garbage as well. Great quality screen, but same old terrible LG support. Galaxy Nexus it most likely will be...
My daughter's G2X was stolen at school and I was thinking about giving her my G2X and getting a Galaxy Nexus. I don't know if its really worth it. 130 for another G2X or 400 for a Nexus with ICS that always gets updates.
MIUI = WIFI calling does not work which I rarely use.
CM7 = Phone freezes while unless I use faux and setcpu to down clock while screen is off but the battery life is amazing.
Weapon G2X = no T9 dialer unless I download one and use notigo to clear missed calls.
ICS = no drivers
Galaxy Nexus has working ICS with T9 dialer but no wifi calling.
I have some thinking to do.

Sold my g2x to t-mobile for their deal and got 100 towards a trade up... Switched over to the galaxy s2 and couldnt be happier. My g2x had some scratches on the bezel and a screen scratch so it was a good value deal. Just happy to have something that will get ics and.... Everything actually works consistently. Loved the g2x as a first android but it was underutilized unfortunately.

One of the best things about the G2X is the size... it is a very compact phone.
That is why im staying with mine for now...I use it as a cheap wifi hotspot in my van and takes up no space...
All the issues ive had in the past have gone away since ive updated the baseband last week...GPS is amazing and everything else has been flawless with the stock, rooted kwes rom...

It could have been smaller if they didn't make such a ridiculously large bezel at the bottom of the G2x. So much wasted space. O_O

That's ALL manufactures in the US when it comes to updates. I had the Vibrant before this and it was quickly forgotten about by Samsung. If I don't like the nexus when I'm ready to upgrade my phone I'll be done with android due to the poor software updates.

Put these phones side by side and don't really notice a difference size wise at all, despite the Galaxy Nexus having the bigger screen. And I saw this new baseband, any ICS support yet? Don't really care either way. Same old stuff with the LG phone, having to constantly hack and update it to it's wannabe Galaxy Nexus status yet it will never happen. The extra $100-$150 for the GN is worth it to me. I totally understand how it's not for some people. Although, I would think if you know enough about phones to even know about the XDA forums then IMO it probably also would be worth the extra money to you to get a GN. That's just my thoughts. Also, the screen resolution and screen quality is considerably better on the GN.
I've been there, that was me, trying to defend the LG Optimus P999. But I gave up defending it, time to switch. I was in denial long enough lol. Well that, and money was an issue for me a few months back...

The difference is that most manufacturers at least release a working rom while being tight arses about community support. LG didn't release a decent rom until well after a year from release, and it's already outdated.
You can't go wrong with the galaxy nexus... I want one now. The only "flaw" is that there's no more mass storage device support in ICS. I use Linux, so I either use my network drive over smb or adb to transfer files. Windows works fine though.

As bitter as I sound about the LG Optimus P999, I would say it is an outstanding value phone. Throw on HellFire 2.2 based on Gingerbread and this thing is super snappy and runs great. It's when you're trying to have the latest and greatest as far as software goes... this thing really pisses you right off.
I did it. I ordered one. I'll still have 3 g2x's in the house.

I got a sgs2 and really like it. No official ics but it's awesome even on GB. Still have a g2x around as a backup and I like that phone too. Updated baseband worked really well.

Yeah, I'm getting my GN today but still have 3 friends or family that have the G2X and IMO that is like the perfect phone for them still because of valueerformance and them not being techie's not caring about the latest and greatest. Sounds like this baseband is far along enough to go with now. I shyed away when I still had my G2X, mainly because it limited what ROMs you could put on. Can you put on HellFire 2.2 with the new baseband or any ICS ROMs yet? I'll still be monitoring the xda G2X forums as my friends and family still own it.
