Do you experience lag? - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Do you guys experience quite a bit of lag on this phone? I suggested this phone to a friend of mine on T-mo who insisted on having a keyboard.
She complains that her phone lags quite a bit and when she was showing me it, it does have a lot of lag.
Going through different home pages, there's a noticeable twitch as the transition is not smooth.
Main complaint is when playing games like fruit ninja, you can't really go through a game with out it freezing for a second or two. Once it completely froze on her.
Any possible fix without Root, since I dont wanna go through all that haha
I know I read reviews on this phone being quite fast so I dont really know what the problem is.

She's better off rooting. You can get rid of all the bloatware that way.

In that case whats the most stable ROM here?? That will be the most important as I'm sure most custom ROM's will speed up her phone.

Ummm i would send it back and get another. I noticed no difference in my games when i debloated and i never have had issues like what your friend is having.
Ive have games since day one like: order and chaos, sentienl 3, need for speed shift, heavy gunner, sim city deluxe and many more
I GET ZERO LAG. The games i just listed have intense graphic rendering as well, much more than fruit ninja. I got this phone for the original purpose of gaming over the g2x. If my phone had an ounce of lag it would be replaced lol.
Could of got some bad chips.

+1, I had no problems playing Fruit Ninja and Veggie Samurai, among other games, pre-root. See if you can get a replacement.
Of course, rooting and installing a ROM would be a good alternative to try. I'm currently using Bulletproof and I think it's pretty snappy.
Good luck =D.

Another thing could be to check for background processes from additionally installed apps from the market, but i guess you already checked that. There are some badly written apps obviously.

My phone has been very stable, only lagging when I use transitions for the first time upon boot up. I'm very pleased with it, actually.

Dude, rooting is super easy. This may be the easiest phone I've ever had to root. There are several excellent guides here.
For stability, I highly recommend bulletproof 1.1. Undeads roms are excellent too, but imo generally are not as stable.

He got banned for something he did on another board a while back. Someone reposted his ROMs and referred to him as Zombie Dog (those threads were deleted). I don't know why the mods hate the MT4GS board so much.

I'm using one of zombiedog's roms. I like it better than stock and even better than cm7.1 alpha although that one isn't bad for alpha. Also, I'm legally blind and had no problems rooting this phone.

Well I may root it later but I told her to take it back.
I played fruit ninja on her phone for a bit to test it out. About 2 or 3 times the screen became unresponsive for a few seconds and then the swipes would lag the fruits would lag and be normal. Also a few times a menu thing popped up on fruit ninja asking me if i wanted to turn down the graphics of the game.
So there must be something wrong cause this is suppose to be a quite powerful phone from what I read and what you guys are telling me.

I have no problems with fruit ninja with my rom.

Making N64oid Run Faster?

As of now, I'm using a Samsung Fascinate with the 1Ghz processor, and N64oid runs most games acceptably. But I want to squeeze out some more performance when I play the N64 emulator as long as I have this single core phone with 512mb of ram.
Now what confuses me is why the phone is not running this flawlessly because the N64 itself only had ~100Mhz CPU and at most 8mb of RAM. So why the phone doesn't run this completely without any effort is beyond me.
My question comes down to this; is there ANYTHING I can do to improve the way the phone handles N64oid to play games smoother?
Try rooting it and overclocking it. My n64 emulator ran fine on stock but I hate sense ui and rooted just to change and overclock and it runs near perfect now when I play super smash bros.

I've done both actually. Doesn't really help. I think it has to do with the emulator itself possibly. I hear SS Bros runs damn good already, better than most games. My main concerns are Starfox 64 and Harvest Moon 64 at the moment. Those 2 I play the most. Can you give me a link to the Super Smash Bros rom? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I believe I got mine from romhustler, I don't remember. And I read somewhere in these forums that the dev pulled it from the market and is working on a better version due to complaints. But yea, google romhustler, if not that, try emuparadise, I always get roms from those sites.

SSB works. Just beat Single Player just now lol.
Still don't know how I can speed up the emulator though. Would be great if I could maybe overclock to 1.5Ghz but I feel that would still yield nothing.

i loaded it on my friend's inspire too. its very very clean that's my favorite part, the transitions are cool looking and the lock screen & notification pull down are nice, but after 20 minutes i got really annoyed at the UI. It resembles the iPhone UI a little too much.
I've never actually used an MIUI ROM before, but I have used some of the apps. The camera, music app, and the web browser are awesome... I can't wait for a full working MIUI ROM so I can try it out, however long that might be

Ok so I have been working on weapon on several different platforms. I keep getting alot done but nothing seems to go my way... I will keep on pushing regardless, but I can only so so much. Like I said I have more then one beta release out there. But myself I hate it, simply because nothing gives a reading so im stuck in ogm wtf mode................

Regarding the other game it might be because he didnt uninstall the free version. I recently bought the paid version and our games have been just fine.

Had a old friend from high school experience the same thing. She delete the app from her iphone and all was well. There was a iphone update that was immediately hotfixed.

Don't root and flash G2x if you want full functionality!

Don't root and flash a ROM to your G2x if you want it to fully work. I rooted and flashed Eagles Blood. At first there were a few bugs which I worked out. Then I found out the main problem that is absent from most threads on how to root and flash your G2x. They don't mention you'll have no video! What? There was no video recording, no Netflix, no ESPN and any other app that just so happens to let you stream or record video. I'm just saying it would be nice to see a warning or something telling you about it. Also, there is a lot of network data connection issues no matter which ROM I used. Beware G2x owners! I get the whole use at your own risk thing but you lose a main capability of the phone. If I just wanted to call and text I wouldn't have a smartphone.

Wow, if you want complete functionality go with a gingerbread rom, like stock rooted, or cm7, not ics. If you read in the OP of ics roms here, it lists what problems there are: no video, somewhat video acceleration, meaning only a few things dont work, among other things.

Sunster you are my hero lol.
The only reason why a lot of videos won't work on ICS is because its missing its video drivers. To compensate the tegra2 will try to render them with the processor but honestly it can't do as much as the GPU can. If you were to install a gingerbread based OS you will get all those functionality back. It may not be included in the description of ICS Roms anymore cause most people already know about ICS not having video drivers. Anyways if you are going to flash a new Rom I recommend Cyanogenmod 7 or Eaglesblood GB based Rom but those are just my personal preferences.

I'm with the OP on this one. Rooting and flashing is so over rated. You can modify and enhance your phone with almost anything in google market. Flashing was just a fad for phones back in 2007. With our modern phones and google market, not only is it unnecessary, but very risky to flash as mentioned by the OP.
It's much more preferable to flash with an official OEM ROM, since unofficial roms could be maliciously programmed, which makes me suspicious why alot of amatuer developers bash LG and Nvidia for trying to make sure there's no open back doors for bad intentioned programmers to hack unsuspecting newcomers.

I'm with this guy. As a result of the dev community supporting this phone, I haven't completely lost it and gone on to make the sales rep who sold me this thing eat it in send me to jail fashion. And frankly...we must have some real upscale individuals flashing roms around here if they're worried about some dev seeing the mundane details of their lives...I'd hate to think what would happen if someone knew when I was running to the store because my girl said I needed to grab milk and eggs. If you're using your phone to do things with security risks (like sending your credit card info out into the void) might want to consider not doing those things in the first place...

The original post just remind us how difficult and chancy rooting and flashing are for any phone, and particularly for the G2x, which at the moment simply lacks the software to run ics with all its functionality. Flashing is never as easy as it's made out here, and I doubt it leads to satisfactory results for most people.

If anything rooting adds a ton of functionality to your advice also allowing you to remove all of the crapware from your phone. As far as the OP the reason no one says no video anymore for cm9 is because its understood. Did you even read the thread before you flashed the rom?
