[Q] Desire S Fried eMMc Chip - HTC Desire S

Hi Guys, it happened to me, market updating freezes my stuff idk why, i just S-offed my phone, and put in custom roms, like Shadow Hawk and Saga3D..im following eMMc tuts, but im not too good with it..what do i do usually, i asked google, and he was pricky, so can anyone tell me what to do in a simple manner? thanks..i love this phone, and i respect all of u that you'd help noobies like me.. -zen

Before you panic to much: turn off auto updating in market, boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache. See if that sorts it.

I really effed up my phone

Tried to root my HTC Inspire, did pretty good at that part. Then I installed a theme I found here (that said it was for my phone) and now can't get past the boot screen. I've done factory reset, data reset, cache reset, davlik reset.. everything.
Is there anything I can do to fix it?
EDIT: and no i didnt have a backup
I had a similar problem after installing a theme. Different phone though. What worked for me: Removing battery for a few seconds, then go through the whole factory reset, cache partition, and Davlik cache wipe routine again.
Ok, I'll try that now. Thanks.
Still the same... I suppose I should just get a new phone
if you can still boot, there's still hope
do you have a custom recovery? if you do, you can transfer a custom rom to your phone and flash it

No I don't
I guess it was my fault for trying to do something I wasn't ready for.. I was just so tired of looking at the same damn skins.
I guess the problem was I installed the Lucid theme without CM7 (stupid I know, I deserve this).

Maybe a bad download.....try to get the rom file again and flash it. I installed CoreDroid V9.3 yesterday no problem at all.....
Check the MD5sum before going through. Make sure that you flashed the multidevice rom and not the Sensation....

I love Coredroid ROM it is an awesome ROM. I flashed the new one Coredroid 9 and absolutely hatedv it had nothing but issues with it. I'd stick with Coredroid 8.1. Best thing would be remove battery remove SD Card and use and adapter place Coredroid ROM zip on root of SD as well as FULL WIPE 1.5 zip on root of SD. Then enter recovery thru hboot with holding volume down and power button at same time then flash full wipe then flash Coredroid. Should do the job.
I dont know about the Coredroid 9 multi device deal i had issues with it and completely hated it. Though I do love Coredroid but I will stay with Coredroid 8.1cause it works flawless for me. Thou now Im addicted to Absolution (lol)
Good Luck
RE
Ive already done a full wipe can i still take battery out and sd and dowload 8.1 and still put it on my phone i just scared since i did full wipe i wont be able to get back into recovery

Yeah, you can do that. Full wiping shouldn't delete recovery, you should still be able to get into recovery via HBOOT and then from there you can mount your sd card, put 8.1 on there and flash as normal. This is assuming that you haven't done anything already to screw up your recovery..
RE:
all ive done is full wipe and tried installing man i thought i bricked my damn phone i started getting scared my wife is in basic training for the army and this is my only way to talk to her

My good sir, take a breath and relax...okay good! Alright, the good news is that 90% of the people who think they bricked their phone initially, don't actually have a bricked phone. I don't want to build your hopes up and say you aren't there but let's not say its bricked until it really is!
Let's start from scratch...can you get into HBOOT (holding the vol. down and power). If you can get into HBOOT, all is not lost. Once in HBOOT, you can hit the power button and it will scan for a PD98IMG.zip, hopefully you don't have one on there. After its done scanning you should be able to use the vol. rocker to select recovery. Enter recovery and follow my previous instructions. If you cannot get into recovery, there are some RUUs in the "PD98IMG.zip" form in the stock ROM thread that you can put on your SDcard and flash through HBOOT that will get you into a working ROM and you can reinstall a recovery and get back to flashing as normal.
thx
Ok thanks to all who replied got into bootloader through cmd prompts but im installing rom now ill let yall know how it goes
everything good thank you
Then click the Thanks button of those that helped you. They deserve it.
Good job not hard to fix many issues. We just have to take a deep breath and calm down. Ifs when people freak out that they start doing stupid things to their phones making matters worse. Nothing that a quick search won't cure.

[Q] any solution for boot "updating apps" on ics?

Everytime I boot my Sensation (ICS OTA from Elevate) I got info, that my phone is "updating" apps... IDK why - after OTA I've restored to manufactured settings/wiped, for better smooth, and installed ALL APPS, and CONFIGURED from ZERO. It shouldn't update anything, or if should - once, not every boot...
any solution?
It's the dalvik cache refreshing but it should only do it after an update to the system. My Nexus doesn't do it

It sounds Ike the dalvik cache is rebuilding at each boot. Does it run normally after each boot?

Yes, everything is normal after boot. But... normal boot isn't fast, and now... with updating it's slower than just "slow" ;(

Maybe turn off the fast boot feature? I guess it's possible it might be precluding Dalvik from updating correctly.

Did anyone manage to find a solution to this problem? It's not hugely annoying, but it definitely should not be doing that.
I contacted HTC and they (naturally) suggested a factory reset. However, given that I had to flash 1.73.401.4 from an RUU to update (was stuck on an older version, for some reason), I'm rather hesitant to do another reset only to have the same problem. And given that I updated a completely new installation, it would seem somewhat unlikely that a factory reset would solve this.
Have you guys tried remounting /data, or checking and fixing permissions for that folder?
Dalvik cache is stored at /data/dalvikcache. Problem could be due inability for this to be read at boot?
Have you used any app or script that would direct the dalvik cache elsewhere, such as app2sd, data2sd etc? If so, disable/delete...

Thanks for the suggestions. Right now I am running stock everything, and it sounds like this would require rooting. Is that correct? Sorry for the stupid question, but I am rather new to that particular dimension of Android.
Yes root needed for that unfortunately. They have recommended factory reset because it will wipe /data.

Well, I decided to take the plunge and do a factory reset. As I suspected, HTC's reply was nothing more than a boilerplate copy-paste reply. Factory reset does not help in any way. I think this is simply a bug in HTC's ICS update (and not the only one, by the sound of things). If they'll admit it, now that's another matter...
Funny how custom ROMs don't have this issue

[Q] Need some help =/

OK,
So was running ExtremeSensation™Series|ICS|Dream™3|Prime™5 and really liked it. And it comes with a app called JRummie Tools (I think thats it atleast).
And this app allows you to change splash screen, boot logo, font, system colors, etc. And I went ahead and bought the PRO version to support the dev . Tinkered with it, and it all went well. So last night I went back into it and picked all new everything, but this time I didnt restart after each mod, I waited until all were done, then rebooted. I also saw a feature to change the read/write speed of the SD card, and it suggested 1024kb, so I did that, rebooted, low and behold, Ive screwed something up lol! It reboots after the splash screen now, Ive tried doing a full wipe including dalvik cache, and re installing other ROMS. But it always gets to the splash screen, freezes and reboots.
I'm not exactly a genius when it comes to all this, but I know enough that I've been rooting my adroid devices for a few years now. All in all I'm just hoping someone smarter than me can help me out. When I google the issue, I merely get "Wipe and Reflash" over and over.
Thanks for any help!

First of All Make Sure U Have Latest Firmware.
2nd if u have that than
Use superWipe Scrpit After Using that
Than Flash the Rom
U wll B 100% Fine
for Reference Try Incertcoin Roms u Wll Love it
Thank you
Thank you, I know my firmware is good, but will double check. So the superwipe script is actually deeper than 4ext's wipe all except sd? Will try this when I get home though!
Also are you referring to the superwipe from the revolution rom?

Try googling this because they have different online fixes you need to read about. One even said to backup contacts then erase contracts and resync contacts again. Is best you read the fixes for yourself and decide which fix is more applicable to your situation. Best of luck. I hope you get it solved soon ! Good news is there are several sites dedicated to this subject. Hope this helps out. Best wishes
