there's a guide at the xperia play forum about changing/ converting rle file we can check that one out

Hi,
for another bootsound you have to convert a "PowerOn.mp3" to "PowerOn.raw"
You can user "SoX" to change the audio format.
Here is an example-package what i've made - Install_Droid_Boot_LGO3D.zip -
This installs the boot animation and the poweron sound from Motorola Razr. Flash it with CWM without wipe.
Greetz paki

After i made the raw file it played at boot however it caused system/bin/playwav to utilize like 50% of the cpu which lead to rapid battery drain overheating

That must be it, i was wondering why the cpu is at constant 1.23ghz and not going down despite restarting. Finally had to resort to last good image and only tried boot animation cuz the boot sound was so loud. My phone now sits at idle 300mhz.

CPU Usage is a good app for checking out resource hogs. Also noticed 360 guard/ makes the tiwlan module hang and use up the cpu, incase anybody uses that app. i think we would have to change the way it reads the boot audio rather than replacing the .raw sound but it makes me wonder why the is two bootsounds .raw and .mp3. Anybody else notice some ui sounds dont work like dock and undock

any chance of someone uploading the original LG PowerOn.mp3 and PowerOff.mp3 files?
never mind i found it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23121550&postcount=3

Stock 2.2 unlock sound replace?

Can anyone tell me how i can replace the "click" sound for the Unlock screen on the new 2.2 ROM that was leaked? i want to use the Droid sound .ogg file instead of the unlock sound HTC put in.
I tried doing a adb push Unlock.ogg /system/media/audio/ui
but it didn't replace it,
I did it in recovery and it said it went through, but audio is the same
am I missing a command?

Hey guys,
I know this thread is a bit old but I am new to this stuff and have very little idea about how to do this.
Is there a resource somewhere here that explains the how to's for guys like me?
Or just a noob guide to making my dinc play a different sound when I unlock it.
Thanks so much.
It was explained earlier in the thread. For this update zip method reboot into recovery. Go into mounts/storage mount system and data. Then flash your update zip just make sure to rename the audio file in the zip to the file name mentioned above. Hope that helps.

No... that is not a flashable zip. You need to extract the file from the zip, rename it and adb push to its location. If this doesn't make sense, don't bother cuz you can f#ck up your phone...
Can any audio file be used for this? ie: can I rename laser.mp3 to unlock.ogg? Will that work?

That will not work, you must convert the file from mp3 to ogg first, use this site to do that
http://media.io/
simply upload your file you want to use, select the format you want to convert to (.ogg for UI audio (ie: unlock sound, alert sound, etc)
before sending to your phone, be sure to rename the audio file to be exactly the same name (including Caps) ie: Unlock.ogg NOT unlock.ogg
I hope this helps, if it does, please click "Thanks"!
The reason for the caps vs lowercase is because this is a Linux operating system, in Linux, the OS see's file names as OS files if there named a certain way, take for example
if you put a folder called Media on your SD card's root, and then have another folder called "Notifications" inside that, the phone will show those files as Notification sounds when selecting them to change
if the folder was called media and not Media, the phone would ignore it If its on the SD card, but if its inside the System folder it won't.
Media>Notifications>Name.ogg <<SD card))
Media>Audio>UI>Name.ogg <<system/media/audio/ui) internal memory
but all the audio files inside the System/Media/Audio/UI folder have caps then lowercase.
Unlock.ogg
Lock.ogg
VideoRecord.ogg
KeypressReturn.ogg
KeypressDelete.ogg
Effect_Tick.ogg
camera_click.ogg
if you rename a file that doesn't exactly match what the system wants, it will not replace the existing one and still use the stock one.
make sense yet? (No Pun intended) lol
do you get it? (the UI folder must be inside the System/Customize/

can't do it on your phone, it uses java and some other sort of code that won't work on a mobile phone.
simply save it to your pc where you know it would be easy to find and then just push it using ADB (make sure you move or save the file inside the tools folder of the sdk if you push it using adb or it adb won't find it
SUCCESS! I was actually able to use a different site using my phone. http://www.online-convert.com/
I then used root explorer to rename and copy the file into the correct system folder. Works great now. My only complaint is that it seems I can't control the volume of the lock/unlock sounds I chose using any of the volume settings. It's always on full blast unless I set to silent or vibrate. Any ideas? Thanks.

SUCCESS AGAIN!! I did some research and found out you can change the system volume, which controls the lock sounds, via an app called Audio Manager. I just used the free widget version and lowered my system volume by one or two. Works great. I don't personally use the widget portion of the app. Thanks for everyone's help on this. Hope my trials help someone else find the answers they need.

lol yeah, its media volume is what you want to control the sounds volumes, and you can control this under settings>sound>volume
be carefule with those volume apps they can screw up your speaker, some are designed to send more voltage to your speaker than it can handle making it louder but as an end result can fry your speaker and cause it to crackle or have static

Actually, media volume does nothing to adjust the lock sounds once you change them. System sounds is what you want to change. Although keep in mind that this also changes the volumes for 'sound on keypress' and 'audible selection' options. I just lowered mine from 7 to 6 and it made a HUGE different in the volume.

That's why I dont use them to make anything louder, but more to individually control each sound. If I want music or something louder, I'll plug my phone into some sort of external system.

You guys doing this on a stock sense rom? Because i've done the exact same thing and nothing changes on either the unlock screen or the camea shutter.

Disabling slide to unlock on KP V4 rom

Heya, I've recently installed Khalpower's V4 rom. Pretty awesome job =) However, I wasn't able to disable the "slide to unlock" screen. Since I'm using the pattern lock, there is no need for the slide to unlock screen anymore. The original moto rom would disable the "slide to unlock" screen when lock pattern is enabled. Is there an option to do so in KP's rom?
Many thanks! =)
Also, have realised that the camera button is not working. Have anyone experience that? Also, is there a known issues/bugs thread to keep track of any problems on the custom roms?
Thank you!
AFAIK the slider issue is there on all of the Froyo ROMS here (Dexters, Xavwanteds & Kahlpowers). I've never seen a fix for this issue.
If your talking about the gallery button (small button next to the shutter) this is also a known issue.

Any idea where to get the old ringtones cos i really like the meadow grass ringtone =P and also the 15% battery sound notification is quite creepy :S anyway to change it?
Thanks
I should be able to dig up the default ringtones when I get home.
Look in /system/media/audio/ui, I would think you could replace LowBattery.ogg with the sound of your choosing (IDK if it has to be an ogg file or not?) that should work but I haven't tried yet.
Oic, do i access there using root explorer? Anyway if you have the default ringtone meadow grass would be great =D cos i backed it up only with recovery so didnt have the ogg files.
Thanks again

How can I put the wallpapers on so it shows up as an option to choose from like in 2.1? (I mean like if I would longpress on homescreen I could select from a little gallery of wallpapers in the normal wallpaper way)

My modified boot animation

Hey everyone, I took some time today to change the default boot animation and sound; here are the results:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkZqLGg8cBA
Instructions can be found at the links under the video. As always, all credit is to those who have made the animation and provided the sound clip!
On a side note: Does anyone know how to change the shutdown animation? I've tried guides online which tell you to change the system/media/video/shutdown files, but that directory (starting from /video) doesn't even exist on the G2X!
Dude those say epic 4g on them, why don't you actually post a version for our phone.

Ok.. So where the heck is the PowerOff.apk located at? I've searched all over in RE and can't find it..
Also, why don't we just make APKs of boot animation/shutdowns and sounds to go along with them? I mean it seems like it should be easy. Maybe that's just my ignorance of some Android "thing".
Oh there it is, .system/app/PowerOff.apk - went cross-eyed looking at them all.
hmm, when I look in the poweroff.apk I find only like 10 images for the shutdown animation. and it has both a MP3 and a OGG shutdown sound, both the same. It also has a LG shutdown image set AND a verizon shutdown image set. Amusing stuff. So I cant modify this file and then just save it and it work right? It has to be signed or some such? and what controls how long it runs, the layout XML file?
Ok, Wel I answered my on question on the first part, but not sure about the layout XML file and what it does. I just renamed the LG animation files to what the T-mo files were named and poof, it worked. I made a backup of the file OFC. I can't seem to make it go beyond those file names of PowerOff_000.png - PowerOff_0010.png. It always cuts off there.

Big Bang Theory Boot animation

I'd love to see a Big Bang Theory boot animation with sound
So would i. But I'm not sure of the legal ramifications (copyrighted song and copyrighted tv show). Not sure if its possible, but let those more learned than i speak.
did some digging and found this file
xxx.megaupload.com/?d=7K6G40ZR
however i can't seem to get it to play on my phone. i changed the resolution in the desc.txt to 480 800 but i just get a black screen. anyway here are the files hopefully someone can make it work
I'll take this on tomorrow. No guarantees...but I usually don't stop til I get what I'm after
Looking at the one you provided - all the images are .jpg. I haven't done a boot animation in a while but if I recall they need to be .png, and have the naming scheme fast_boot_p_xx.png (where xx is a 2 digit number starting with 00 - in sequence). Like I said - I'll mess with it tomorrow...sleep is too precious to me. Besides, it's my birthday and I haven't even started drinking yet...
For the audio file and theand animation, rename them to bootanimation.zip and android_audio.mp3 before doing anything else. Put the audio file in the same folder as your bootanimation. Make sure both have permissions set to RW R R .Here's the animation...working on my phone. Let me know if there's anything you'd change. Working on the audio now

For future reference, you could try mplayer/mencoder. It would save quite a few steps. I also use imagemagick's `convert' utility for batch image manipulation. Both of these have windows ports, but I haven't tried them on windows, only linux.

1) Well, swipping apps on Android 4.0 and above, It seems that you don't kill the app by swipping it, but don't worry Android handles the memmory well plus you have lots of RAM. Remember that task killers do more harm than good.
2) You can install a custom lockscreen from the market like Go Lockscreen there is no native way on the Motorola ROM unless you install another ROM.
3) Try installing another Laucher like nova, you won't see the lag that the Motorola Launcher has, but unfortunately you can't use the Motorola widgets like Circles on third party launchers...
And if you are bold enought try installing another ROM and see wich one suits you best, I have an XT925 with unlocked bootloader (good bye warranty) and I'm currently on CM10 wich I like a lot

First you'll need software to rip the dvd or bluray to a pc. There are freeware options out there but you are generally better off buying the software (especially if you want to rip bluray). I don't have a bluray drive in my computer so I only do dvds. I use DVDFab and just rip the whole disc image, then use Handbrake (free) to convert for playback. I actually do these for my kids movies to stream them through dlna to the main TV, but the format (mkv or mp4) will play on the phone just fine as well. I'm not 100% sure the stock player does mkv, but there are many free players in the market that will.

He used his own ringtone file and an app to increase the volume of the audio file. Audacity works well for this. If you drop a file in /sdcard/Ringtones it will find it on the next boot when the media scanner runs and you can use it.
If you want to use one that's on the phone, you can pull it out using adb. They are located at /system/media/audio/ringtones
You can also pull it off using an app that serves as a web browser or a file manager that will read from the root of the filesystem upwards. I haven't used the stock file manager yet so don't know if that will work. If you're rooted, you can increase the volume (gain) and then export it back to the same format and put it back in the same location /system/media/audio/ringtones or just the same to /sdcard/Ringtones but you'lle have the same file twice unless you edit the tags when you export, the filename isn't always what gets displayed.
Sortened and easy version: Use a tool on the PC to increase the volume or gain of the file then drop in in /sdcard/Ringtones/ and reboot the phone. Wait a few minutes to make sure the media scanner finds it during the boot process, find your Ringtone in the selection.
