xperia play unlock network? - General Questions and Answers

Apologies for not being able to find that answer.
I would like to know if its possible to unlock the xperia play that im about to buy from o2 so that i can use my t mobile sim card without having to pay for an unlock code?

Only those on phones not sim locked in the first place. If yours was sim free from the getgo it can be unlocked using the official se method.
if it wasnt, you can pay to get it sim unlocked and have the bootloader unlocked.
Sim unlocked devices don't have unlocked bootloaders. They are fastboot enabled. This will allow you to unlock the bootloader for free using the sony development website. Sim locked devices, do not have fastboot enabled. So even though they can get an unlock code, they have no way to get into fastboot to unlock bootloader
Hit me on the thanks button if you find it useful. ; )

unlock screen help

I unlocked my skyrocket with paid unlocked code. today i got unlock code from ATT. Though my phone is unlocked with paid unlock code, i am still unable to use few options like hotspot, tethering. So, i want to unlock the phone with ATT unlock code but i am not able to get the unlock code screen. Can you anyone provide help here.
If it's unlocked you're not going to be able to unlock it again. Once it's unlocked it'll always be unlocked.
To tether try this, http://www.theandroidsoul.com/enable-wifi-hotspot-tethering-skyrocket/

[Q] T-Mobile's Z3 debranding for sim unlock.

Hi everyone. I bought a T-Mobile's Z3 used by another guy. He shipped it from the U.S but i'm not there. The thing is: He bought a SIM unlock code but T-Mobile won't let me introduce it because they only let you unlock the phone through their app. The question: If I debrand the phone by flashing the global/international firmware would it let me introduce the code? . I hope you can help me.
I don't think you can just cross flash, at least that is my experience with other devices as well. Also no way to bypass the SIM lock as there is no boot-loader unlock or r oot for the TMO Z3.
As far as I know its an over the air unlock and there is no option to even enter a code... when the app did not work for me I called TMO and they unlocked it within an hour, as I am a current customer.

Root and bootloader unlock have no effect on sim unlock. They are completely different things
It depends by phone/carrier implementation I guess, for my Sprint LG G2 you could bypass the simblock using a method that requires root. In the HTC M8, boot loader unlock with Super CID could achieve SIM unlock as well.
You probably are correct with Z3 though.
Im in the same boat, bought a used z3 and tried to unlock using device unlock app on phone, Failed. I bought an unlock code but there is no menu to input unlock code. If we flash global generic firmware, will unlock code pop up?

Has anyone tried this and been successful? I attempted it this morning but got errors and flash aborted.
Edit
Guys keep trying the unlock app. I almost gave up and tried it one more time after a factory reset. Went through the setup menus. No Sim card, WiFi through my old Xperia z, turned on my location. Opened the unlock app and applied for permanent unlock and BOOM.... Unlocked.
Don't know if any of what I did made a difference but try it if you want.
Best of luck to you all.

Xperia Z3 D6616 SIM unlock or Custom firmware

hi
i am having my Xperia Z3 D6616 idle for more than 5 months, meaning? its not sim unlocked. actually unable to unlock it. i did not know that t-mob disabled the SIM unlock code pop up in their phones.
i am not in US right now so unable to unlock the phone as i bought from ebay as new. totally fed up with this situation.
i am tried all over the forum and waited log time to get the root, i felt it will be unlocked after then. but unfortunately rooting did not shed any light on unlocking possibility.
so far
1. D6616 cannot be Sim unlocked without Tmob support
2. No custom firmwares.
3. will not boot if international Firmware flashed via flashtool. or flashing pre rooted zips.
4. its known that it the boot loader cannot be unlocked.
i am looking for D6603 firmware ported to D6616 so that we can flash into recovery and get the sim unlock code Pop up to Enter the unlock code.
or anyway how to port the simunlock app from international D6603 FW to make it work on D6616.
I saw and tried HTC one M9 T mob sim unlocking method and it worked on HTC one M9. (the link is below) is it possible can we follow the same method to unlock the D6616 also.
looks like T-Mob disable sim unlock pop up in their phone to restrict the user to unlock as they wish.
link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/sim-unlock-method-t3143333
i request some developer help how to get this done. i believe they are so generous and helpful. at least some guides on how to make it.

I'm facing the same problem, all servers are down indefinitely. One guy also found if your phone never were used or registered in T-mobile network, can't be registered as elegible to unlock, this is my worst problem, I'm outside of USA with brand new expensive phone . If some one found any other solution to unlock, I'll appreciate the information
Unlock service is up.
Now we can unlock xperia Z3 with t mobile app,
The service is up. I bought the unlock service from cellphoneunlock.net
This service cost 50$, but this is the only option for D6616. Time will 3-6 days. I unlocked two of my D6616 after years

not that I believe in pay for those type of services. but I have a z3v and am in a similar position. I was wondering if you could check if your bootloader unlockable status has changed from no to yes or how can u flash stock z3 firmware with only a sim unlock.

This has nothing to do with the bootloader, it is for unlocking the sim only. The z3v is alread SIM unlocked, but, like the T-Mobile d6616, the bootloader is locked and likely to stay that way.

Question OnePlus 9 T-Mobile sim unlock with unlocked bootloader

I have a OnePlus 9 T-Mobile (LE2117). I got the bootloader unlock code from the OnePlus and was able to unlock the bootloader (fastboot oem unlock).
The phone was bought from T-Mobile and it is not paid off. In the Settings > About device > Network Unlock settings it says that it is locked and it is not eligible for neither permanent unlock nor temporary unlock. The temporary unlock is not available, because it was already applied for 5 times during this year.
I am outside of USA and I do not have a T-Mobile sim-card.
Does anyone know whether it is possible to unlock the network, if the bootloader is already unlocked?
PS: I searched here and I saw people saying that it is possible to unlock bootloader only after unlocking sim (network), but my request to OnePlus for unlocking bootloader was approved and I got the unlock code file (unlock_code.bin).

A few months ago I ran the gamut for exactly this because a neighbor bought a T-Mobile version of a device off a local classifieds site thinking he'd unlock it and put a custom ROM on it. Turns out dude who sold it to him over the internet hadn't finished paying the thing off before dumping it and abandoning his contract; had to twist the arm of my corporate account rep and get upset with some of the upper echelon of T-Mobile to be told that.
As you're finding out, carriers don't take kindly to people trying to alter the software on devices they don't own yet (I.E. are still paying for).
As such, carrier unlock and OEM unlock are two different things; temporary unlock and full unlock are different kinds of carrier unlock, and AFAIK OEM unlock won't be enabled in Developer Options unless you've performed a full carrier unlock (so color me surprised at your situation), which you won't be eligible for (and T-Mobile won't release) until the phone is paid off free-and-clear in their system, up to and including any past-due balances on accounts the device may have been a part of, as well as having to meet additional criteria you can check in their policy here.
If you are successful in this endeavor, keep in mind that T-Mobile will be within their rights to demand payment in-full for the remainder of the balance of the device the moment they realize it's been tampered with.
EDIT: I found this, may be helpful. In the first post they say someone came up with an MSM package that doesn't require SIM/carrier unlocking: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/convert-t-mobile-oneplus-9-to-global-or-other-firmware.4277169/
How can I root my T-Mobile OnePlus 9? I can't find any boot img for it online stock or patched... Any way to extract it?
