Is there a way to get Asphalt 6 Adrenaline HD running on this phone? I can't imagine the hardware can't handle it. I paid for it when I had my Inspire, and I would just like to finish it.
I apologize if this is a dumb question.
You can't install it through Market? https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftA6HP
It looks like I CAN install it, though I don't want to pay $7 to test...

Hello,
i am interested in buying an Android tablet, however i don't want to spend so much money either.
Thus i suppose a branded tablet is out of question. The first generation iPad seems a good solution, but i dont like the idea leaving android and starting from scratch in understanding their OS... Even Nook Color is in my options!
However there are so many unbranded tablets. How to chose?!?!
Would all connect with no problem to Android apps and market?
I have an Android Motorola phone currently, thus i would prefer to have a capacitive tablet as well.
Would i be able to buy a protector for my tablet if this is unbranded?
Any recommendations please?
Thanks!
Hi there,
I would find an used Folio 100 (Toshiba) and then install Dexters forliomod rom on it.
I am very pleased with mine.
Regards,
Per.
You should try Galaxy Tab. The price has gone down a lot recently
Thanks, but i suppose the price is again not near the Nook color...
Try the Nook Color, I hear good things about it.
The Nook Color and XDA could be your ticket...
Got a color nook loaded in dual boot and run 2.3 on it If you do not need microphone and camera then this is great choice. I did not load on the nook 2.3 because I wanted to keep the reader it come loaded with, this reader reads out loud the kid's books in a real human recorded voice. This is awesome for my kid who is 4. But if you do not need this feature then you can load directly on to the system 2.2 or 2.3 or 3.0 This device is a flashing geek's dream fun to modify and 200 bucks

If you are using android phone currently, my suggestion is you should try ipad. that you could have two differ os. That's must better than using one os.

is that true though? Why complicated your life when you know Android so well?
Basically this is the reason why i am not going to iPad, dont want to complicated my life to a different OS...
How much IS there to know about these mobile device OS?*
*Unless you're a developer. If so, the device you develop for would probably dictate your next purchase unless something radically more interesting comes along.

Being able to know everything needs root an android, having so many apps and knowing that what i would be searching on my phone would be done also for my tablet, that would make me really happy.
I am not in a mood for searching info on how to jailbreak an ipad...

i wanted to get one too but i think they are uselles to me so..
If you're on the cheap, rooting a NC is the way to go. B&N lists it for sale @ $200 occasionally, but you can usually find one listed on Craigslist for the same price or a little cheaper.
If you've got $400 to spend, pick up the Asus Transformer, it's the best Android bang-for-the-buck at the moment.
Ok thanks. I was thinking whether Nooc color or a chinese C8 have the same power and capabilities runnin on 2.2..
Does anyone know? Or NC is just superior for the "official" support it has...

wait for galaxy tab2
I'd say go with the Ipad most definately. Not Android platform but trust me that's a good thing.
I really like the honeycomb, and i think this is better than my friends Ipad1
Hi everyone. I have a 4 year old who keeps taking my phone and my kids (his older brother and sister) ipod touches. He uses them to play games and go on youtube. I've been looking online for a cheap tablet for him to have and on craigslist there are a few for sale in my area for anywhere from $75-$100. I want to know if anyone has any experience with these cheaper android tabs. There's one by Sylvania and some others that just say ePad.
Does anyone have any experience with these and if so, do you think it will be ok for a 4 year old? Keep in mind, it doesn't have to be anything special. Just something that can play youtube and games like angry birds.
Any information is appreciated.

Well you'd probably be best googling the models and seeing if they are real. I had a friend who got a fake off ebay. They work alright. Not great for myself. But if they are a proper tablet I don't see you having any problem as long as its not a scam haha
Sent from my Galaxy S running Galnet's MIUI v2.2 @ 1.3ghz!
Hmm just had a quick Google of the sylviana branded tablet you mentioned and from what I read it seems to function alright. Some are having problems but seems to be functional haha. Sorry if its what you already know

A scam on craigslist? Never.
Being serious though, I did do some searching on google and with the information I got it figured it would be better to come ask the experts. I really dont care about the software that's installed on these tabs as long as they can be rooted and/or have access to the android market. Its just more important to me that they run decently. They are not very expensive but it's still money and I would like to know what I'm getting into.

Hey,
I was recently setting up a home network for a co-worker and she "paid" me by giving me a White 7" Pandigital Novel "eReader". Its android based and from what I can tell it can be rooted and used as a low cost alternative to an Android tablet. They sell for as low as $100. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with my own since I just got a HTC Inspire 4G...
Guess I can try and hack it. I can let you know how well it takes being rooted.
Please do let me know. I would really appreciate it.

Hey,
Sorry for the delay but I got a little busy with school. I was able to sit down for a bit with the White Pan digital Novel and I must say I was impressed. Due to the extremely low cost and decent spec of this machine it has gotten a lot of love from developers. Its extremely easy to flash ROM's for root access (just place .ZIP on SDCARD, remove internal SD, boot to recovery, and flash it). The guys over at Slatedroid even put Cyanogenmod 6.x on it.
I tested a number of ROM's but most had weird issues. The Slatedriod Cyanogenmod 6.x ROM actually only ran crisp (for now) in landscape mode. Its a bit too weak to play games from Android Market and that's assuming the the ROM you choose has a working Market (most don't by default). They used a mod called the non-ugly hack to fix this I think. Another issue with a lot of these ROM's involved the wifi going into a infinite loop, repeatedly turning itself on and off. Despite the fact that I love Cyanogenmon on my Optimus V, I had to find another full time ROM.
That's when I stumbled across an Eclair-based ROM ported from teh popular Cruz Reader. It was awesome. Smooth in all view modes and even video ran great on the thing. I haven't attempted to OC the device yet, but I would assume it would only make it better. This ROM is rooted of course, and had a working Android Market (and Cruz Market) installed from the start. With this ROM the device becomes a comparable tablet, far exceeding the value placed on its tag. Just use regular apps to manage the power usage and overclock it with Set CPU or something and you'll have quite a machine for $50 something .
A big downside is that for an "eReader" the battery life was horrid, a little better than an android phone (and that's even with the stock ROM). You are going to have to hack this thing to get any decent performance out of it as the stock ROM is laggy. The rooting worked for fixing a lot of these issues.
Em still a bit unfamiliar with the rules on posting links to other forums here, so I wont. Let me know if you have any questions on need the links and we'll set up some sort of arrangement.
Thanks for that info. Gives me a lot to consider. I may end up getting one of those units.

I know theres other threads with this same point, bu tthe most recent I see is April and theres been quiet a few new releases since then.
It's my birthday month so I figure I'll treat myself to an upgrade from this POS Flipside.
I have a 200(flexible by about 50 bucks) dollar limit and am looking at used or refurbished phones.
I'm thinking of an Atrix but don't know a whole lot about them.
Basically I'm wanting something that supports at least 2.2 (no damn cROM for the Flipside, stuck wtih 2.1 and 32mb of internal mem). I want something thats mod friendly that I can play with and not be hugely limited. I want something with decent speed (Robot Unicorn Attack!).
Please give me suggestions, I'm kinda looking for a top 3 or 5 list where I can compare and make my own educated decision.
I'm seriously considering getting the Transformer. I really want the prime but this black Friday sale might be too good to pass up. I'd have a new tablet and money saved vs. Waiting for more expensive, $499, Prime version. My question is just like the title states. Only reason I want to be sure is because my Atrix 4g phone, stock, didn't allow non market apps to be installed. I had to root, then get non market apps enabled app from market place. Then now I can easily install those. I want to be sure as my research here is showing newer model Transformers has to be rooted using that Razorclaw apk. Which I already have downloaded into my iPad for quick email to new device, once I get it. I know not all android devices are like Atrix and others allow non market apps installed right out the box. I've read a thread or 2 here of people having issue with the root. So, far the most, is this a pretty simple, sure shot, root? Looks like one click n ur done. I don't even have this device yet n I'm already anxious to root n over clock this thing and try out this revolver rom I'm seeing thrown around a lot.
Like I said before, I really want the Prime, the best, but I might just be smart and getting the dramatically lower priced original transformer. As it will still be better than my iPad 1 amd will still be an upgrade. I have the money for the Prime but I have a 14 month old daughter also and bills...lol. I think it might be best to get the TF101 at $249(from best buy) or $299(from hhgregg). Both are great deals compared to original/normal price of this device @ $399.
Any input on the thread question or advice on getting original transformer or waiting for Prime will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Yes you can "sideload" apps.
Only AT&T block "sideloading" hence you had to root and modified

Appreciate the speedy response. Yeah AT&T sucks on that part. Im grandfathered into the old unlimited data plan so that's only reason I'm still with them..lol
Hi,
I am an avaid htc desire fan and think I am looking for a android tablet. I really like the apps available to me on the htc, and do a bit of app development/rom. What I really would like is a cheap android tablet, that runs everything that the htc desire has (I could probably lose telephony). It would have to be possible to root the tablet, and flash it.
I would only need a modest size touch screen, but a camera/vid would be good. Oh yes if possible it must have a reasonable battery life also.
Does such a device exist (yet)? If not whats the nearest available. I have looked around the internet but have never really been convinced that the reviews are that good. I know there are real fellow nerd/techyheads here so I would value your ideas.
I have no hands on experience of a tablet at all.
Kindle fire.

Thanks,
Thats given me at least something to focus on.
I've picked up a couple of 'Scroll Essentials' 7" tablets for the kids for xmas, running vanilla 2.3
omfg they're slow! Think i need to wait until some custom roms are around.
Can't really moan for 70 quid though!
You could search Ebay for a cheap used tablet .
Which tablets are rootable
Hi All,
thanks for the responses to date, but im still confused. Are tablets generally rootable, if so what methods are available?
I can find little info on rooting them. I have heard that the kindle fire is rootable, but
thanks
I would really preffere a rooted tabled with a camera/vid device.
