i have a question, but i think its a more of a general statement. i just came from the hd2, as i'm sure many did, great phone, any type of android i wanted but no tv-out was only draw back for me. g2x hdmi, awesome. but i noticed all the non-stock roms are missing hdmi and dlna, why? what is the point in this phone if you dont utilize those features? i'm just curious, i'm not sure if its the major ability to build and flash ANYTHING on the hd2 thats got me bummed about the limits of this phone, but i'm just curious on why that is "cooked" out of so many of the roms...
There is no source, so they can't add it on anything other than 2.3.3 roms.
But I'm sure the CM team will eventually get it working like they did with the Bluetooth.

so there is no way to get a build that has hdmi and dlna?

In the nightly cm7 thread, there are people reporting HDMI working ... I don't have a cable or I'd test it for you. Apparently there aren't any settings for it, it's supposed to just work.

Anything stock has it like Eagle'sBoold, WeaponG2X, etc.
MIUI, CM or anything with 2.3.5+ it doesn't work.

Yeah on CM7 its really buggy. Ex: I can only output 1080pi, and If i play an hd video on youtube or from a file the playback will cutoff. I can live with it its just not the best. And of course anything based on stock will work perfectly.

what about "smart share" dlna? i've been flashing roms to see what works etc, and finally flashed swift and put my sim card in and it says something about i dont have a data plan? or something, but i know it works and that i do. then i got it working in web browser and it said my plan was invalid with this phone, any thougts? i know its a new subject but i'm right here talking.
Hi,
Probably a cheeky post, I can distil the info from the other threads...but just wondering if now is a good time to try out ICS? Looks like EOS's nightlies are coming along well, but seems to be some issues.
So I'm just wondering if its suitable yet for general use, or is it only suitable if you really want to play with ICS - would it be best to wait a few weeks for a main release?
I use my xoom for most stuff now - skype, reading, even streaming movies from my network, wouldn't want to lose any functionality, or have it less enjoyable to use than with HC (Moray ROM - wonderful!), but am chomping the bit to play with ICS
Thanks a mill,
Justin
I have a wifi only Xoom and could not imagine going back hc. I have tried EOS and cm9 and like both of them. Everything works that I use. Small issues here and there. Make a backup, if you don't like it flash back.

I agree with the above poster. I couldn't even dream of going back to Honeycomb. ICS is a real step up. I personally don't think you'll regret it. Like he said though, make a backup and just revert if for any reason you don't like it. But I really doubt that will happen.

That's all I needed to hear, I went off and flashed the latest EOS nightlies....so far so brilliant, everything still works, and some!!

im in north america on at&t service,i bought my galaxy tab 7.7 from amazon and im on a singapore firmware P6800DXLP8 phone works fine but was wondering is this the best rom for me or does the other firmware offer more,or is this a if it aint broke dont try to change it situation? does anyone know? any help appreciated.
well actually it wld depend on ur requirements, the advantage of stock roms is that all features of ur device will work well normally and it is much easier to get help if anything isn't working the way it should.. other roms would normally offer you features such as a better interface, more flexibility or a version of android that samsung hasn't released yet.. many offer performance increases in various aspects of tablet operation. for example, I'm now using the paranoid android rom which offers lots of flexibility, a newer android version(4.1) and the performance is smoother, but, for now, I suffer from a strange random flicker at the bottom of the screen, broken tethering(but fixed it with an app) and a non-operational gps.. other roms based on the older ics(4.0) are more stable and may offer you performance and all features working etc. other roms also remove samsung bloatware and you don't have many unnecessary processes running and draining ur tab's performance, but as I said, it actually depends on you, it is also important to know that you are covered by warranty only when you are on your stock rom, but one can always reflash the stock rom to go back to being covered..
cheers!

Im in the US too and using my AT&T sim....
Im on BLP1 4.0.4
works fine. and I havent tried anything else as its working just fine.
Ill wait for Jelly Bean that everything works, then I'll switch.
Flashing for me is very nerve wracking!
good luck
I agree with u jimmbomb, flashing is a bit of a pain.. but I can't shake off the feeling of samsung doing a half assed job of speedily providing android upgrades to, at least, premium devices while others enjoy newer android goodnesses before us.. i mostly flash to stay as close to the latest android version as possible and for roms offering improved performance where possible.. unless google makes a nexus tablet in this form factor, I will be doomed to romming my 7.7..

Yeah I'm not gonna flash a rom seems none are really stable, just was asking to see if other version were better.thanks guys.

First of all i want to thank all the mods and developers for writing such kick ass software and apps and mods for our devices. Without you android with be totally boring like ios (hehe)
Secondly i have searchec for the answers to the following questions but I have not come across anything adequate enough so i thought it best to consolodate the questions here. Please dont flame me.
Okay.....
1 - i am not a noob and i can handle executing scripts and whatnot. My first question is, when I had my htc mytouch 4g i came acorss a thread which beautifully listed all available roms for the phone. Most of them were worked well but it was nice to have a concise listing like that. Is there a similar thread or sticky with a list of the available roms for the gt-p3113?
2 - when i got my tablet i knew immediately that it was going to become an extension of my phone while serving as a laptop replacement when i travel and work and play when i know in advance that i dont need a laptop. However i wanted to beef it up with a custom rom that would maintain as much original functionality as the stock rom, i chose to install CM9. It was working great HOWEVER when i went to dig a little deeper and investivate the IR blaster functionality i realized that it, among other things were not supported with this rom. And so question 2 is:
DOes anyone know of a rom (preferably cm9) that has the following:
A - IR blaster support
B - remote support/access for the samsung "find me" feature from samsungdive.com
C - support somehow for allowing for apps to be installed to the SD card (external)
3 - piggie backing 2A,if there is no rom with support for the IR blaster, is there an app out there that would reinstall the IRblaster drivers or is there a script somethere that I might be able to run so that i can get the blaster back? (I really like Peel remote)
4 - Piggie backing on 2C -if I were to revert to CM9 which i am planning to do, which is the best app that would seamlessly allow for apps and whatnot to be installed onthe extsdcard? I knowof apps2sd and someother one but they didnt work for me when i went back to stock rom whichis what i am running now.
I know this is a lot to ask guys but if you can take a moment to consider helping out with links and/or info i would be so appreciateive.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

This is a thread where you can post your thunderbolt problems
.android_secure
OK, I've got one that's been bugging me. I have a LOT of apps installed and if I have moved a number of the larger ones to the SD Card (to free up /data), once I get to greater than 1GB in android_secure, my phone fails to boot completely and just locks up. It's not the SD Card (32GB Class 10) that has errors (scanned with both Windows and 4Ext), just seems to be too much for the OS to handle.
I'm still running ShiftHackedA05P 2.8 (CM 2.7.3) from days gone by. Suggestions welcome. Thanks.
Edit: And I use Autostarts (Advanced mode) to turn off receivers for apps that I don't want to load, and LBE to disable permissions.
You might try using a Rom that has ext4 support since it supports larger file sizes.

Thank you for the reply, expert one
The folder has ~87 files of sizes 3MB to 40MB, which causes the lockup after booting at random times (sometimes it makes it further and ultimately boots, after MANY battery pulls). Once the folder is pared down to a lesser total size, the phone boots more rapidly and doesn't lock up; seems to be a linear relationship between how many files and the total time to boot until the CPU usage drops.
It might also be that most apps are moving away from app to sd since it isn't used as much anymore.

New issue, perhaps?, I am noticing that when LTE/CDMA mode my connection is showing as LTE only where it used to use ehrpd for transport and thereby still keeping 3g radio enabled. Normally no big deal but at times I am unable to send/receive texts or make/receive phone calls. Has Verizon stopped using this middle transport for LTE? I am unsure why I am always showing LTE only and if this is causing a problem. Switching to CDMA (auto prl) is the only remedy that I have found. Any thoughts?

Not really a problem but I noticed a thread that mentioned A LOT of older devices getting a port of KitKat...any chance that could happen with this old relic? Other HTC phone with some sort of working KitKat are: Sensation, Desire HD, Vivid, Raider, Evo, Amaze and Incredible S...or at least that is what this site claims.
Oh, sorry, I'm new here so I can't post the link.
Santod was working on a KK ROM but since he has newer devices as many of us old bolt users do he puts it on the back burner because the demand for it just isn't there anymore. Be patient and maybe eventually you will see one. Or you won't....

I just saw where Droid Incredible 2 has a fully functioning CM 10.1 rom. Just wondering if that could be possible for us since DINC 2 has same processor, same resolution, same manufacturer, same everything except 4G. I'd love to have CM10.1 if it meant sacrificing 4G (or even all data).
I'm new to all this, but if you think a port is possible or maybe some other way to get this on our device I will give it 100% effort.
If it can't be done then crush my dreams now and I will somehow learn to live without my TB.
Thanks.
Porting the dinc2 ROM breaks data for the bolt since the bolt has an svdo radio setup. I have ported from it before and I either had calling with no data or just data. I'm not saying it couldn't be done but it is out of my area of expertise. Go to infectedrom. com and there is a cm10.2 build made by Santod that has working WiFi. Since data doesn't seem to be an issue for you.

Yeah none of the newer stuff will perform well honestly. It is just to much for the old bolt to handle.

New to xda so can't post in the original thread, but I need info on the thunderbolt tool. I have used it before with great results, now trying to root my other TB and old vesion won't update and new download won't unzip (reads no files when extracting).
if anyone has any ideas i could use the help. I want to upgrade my other TB to the ICS rom that santod posted but i am dependent on its wifi tether and want to have a backup device if any problems a cure (doubtful, as the instructions seem strait forward).
Thanks

It could be closed for any number of reasons. Cjen isn't a developer by any stretch of imagination. He's the same guy that kanged CM, and liquidsmooth code in the past in roms he called "liquidsmooth remastered", etc. He basically kangs roms, adds and removes apps, then rereleases them himself as though he built them, all without providing the source that would show no commits made by him. The irony is, liquidsmooth 3.2, CM7.2, And thundershed actually worked perfectly for the most part, his so called rom doesn't... If you're interested in gingerbread AOSP roms for the bolt, i'd stick with thundershed and liquidsmooth. At least workshed's and team liquid are real developers and their roms worked...
