Micro SDXC 64gb compatible - HTC Sensation

Hello
Does anyone know if the new microsdxc 64gb from Scandisk is compatible with the Sensation XE ?
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Hello
Just to advise and it's full compatible.
The only thing is to format the card from your phone and that's it
I buyed this model Sandisk 64Gb MicroSD, SDSDQY064GU46A
This a class 6 and I have again freespace
Enjoy it

seems to be good
Hello
I found here that it works
http://www.androidnz.net/2011/09/sandisk-64gb-micro-sdxc-cards-confirmed.html
I ordered one tonight so I will received in the middle of the week
I keep you in touch

There was a thread in here stating that the card works. So I think you shouldn't face any problems.
Let us know how it works.
Btw. where did you get it, how much was it?

still not received the card...

updated the post

Thanks for the info I'm planning to get one soon.
Could you post some speed tests with SD tools? I read that without exFat it can't reach 30mb/s, but I've seen speed tests on samsung phones which go up to 22mb/s! Just wondering if we can get those speeds on the Sensation as well

If possible do a benchmark with CrystalDiskMark (3x100mb).
The best way to benchmark is to put the card in a SD adapter and then in a PC or Laptop with a SD slot.
When you do it with a USB micro sd reader result will be about 20% lower.
Lets see how the results are compaired to my Samsung Micro SDHC 32GB Class 10
And please people do not use SD Tools, you can't trust it.
When I simply change the cache size of my SD card to 4MB,
SD Tools shows read speed of 35MB which is impossible!
It also does not show what it benchmarks and it compleates to early to be accurate.

Hello
So here the result
Plse note that I don't have sd slot so I did the test with usb adapter so We must add 20%
Original value with usb

the microsd 64gb class 10 really works on HTC Sensation?

Yep. Although I've got it almost full with just 10gb remaining and speed has dropped a bit, it works fine.

I am looking for memory on ebay and I am not sure which one to buy.

Hi,
I'm using a SANDISK Class 10 64 Gb SDXC Card (SDSDQU-064G-U46A) for now more than 1 month on my HTC Sensation XE with CM10 Bruce2728 build from 21st december.
Mainly, I can say the card is working BUT I have a recurring problem : one or two times per day the card got ejected from the device, for sure I did not asked by myself to eject the card ... don't find the reason why this for the moment
Anyone who is having a similar behaviour please ?
I've also tested to install Jelly BAM CM10/AOKP/PARANOID Rom for a week and never had the "ejected card" problem with this Rom so maybe it could be ROM related ?
Does anyone know if I can do/track something to find the root cause of the problem please ?
Regards,
Laurent

Kingston 16gb class4 h2testw benchmark

This new thread because I think this microsd deserves it
I've seen people looking for class6 and even class10 microSD cards, hoping for some wonderful performance, which is fine.
I did some testing on the memorycard I got at home and actually found out that one card I bought almost out of sudden impulse is the best of the bunch.
It's a 4 gb class 4 by Kingston, did score some nice number in h2testw, actually better than my SDHC class 6 16gb by transcend.
So i decided to buy a 16gb class4 by Kingston and this is the outcome:
Warning: Only 15287 of 15288 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 8.78 MByte/s
Reading speed: 15.7 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
I must say I'm very pleased...
I got it for 21 £ (about 25 €).
Wish u all a nice day!
S.
I just bought the exact same card and waiting for it to arrive.
We'll see how it will perform.
Thanks anyway for your test's.
I'm running CrystalDiskMark right now to find out more about performance of this card!
Best Regards.
S.
Can you link us please
Where did you get it from?
CrystalDiskMark bench
...and here's the Crystaldiskmark test I just finished running (see attach).
Got it online from MyMemory
S.
Got the same one from mymemory via their ebay store. Using with a 1.5GB Ext3 partition for a2sd+. Using STT (from the Market), initial results were 4 + 4, after implementing sdcardfix got read up to 12. Using via the PC though in a sd adaptor, not ran any tests but copied just over 3GB in about 15 mins. V impressed seeing as it cost £21.99.

Is the class 10 a lot faster than class 4 ? I doubt it! anybody got some benchmarks?
Well, according to this thread named "Kingston microSD 16GB Class 10 review"
the 16gb class 10 from kingston is just 10 mb seq write and 19 mb seq read vs this class 4 which is 9 mb seq write and 15 mb seq read
hehe guys, looks like we have a budget winner here

yeah, and scientifically, class ratings are only to rate minimum speeds, and most of them pass the mark waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy over
Yep
And now for the economics of it:
kingston 16gb class 4 (+ some luck) = 24 €
kingston 16gb class 10 = 90 €
Just keep the luck factor in mind...
S.
I too have this same card and it is very good!
Cost me £20 from mymemory and performs really well.
Just installed the sd card speed fix on my phone and running a benchmark on the phone itself I get 7mb write and 15mb read.

In the search for ultimate performance, I swapped out my 16GB Class 2 for a Kingston 16GB Class 10, and how dissapointing it is!!
Test results using Crystal Disk Mark under Windows 7 with FAT32 partitionswere generally as follows. I also carried out the tests using SD Card Speed Test in Android and also using various settings but always with similar results...
Class 2: Sequential Read 16.67 MB/s; Write 5.289 MB/s
Class 10: Sequential Read 13.04 MB/s; Write 6.190 MB/s
Is this just a duff card!? Anyone else with Class 10 benchmarks???
Found it here for about £7 is this likely to be a fake? How do you know?
http://www.libertyofficesupplies.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=178&products_id=57149
How does this card perform with 720p recording?
purely from the good reviews on here ive got one from mymemory for £19.99with an adapter....
hi, after reading all the messages, i'm thinking that my Kingston 16gb CL4 is dead...she's slower than my old kingston 8gb cl2.
Under SST sometimes it said "class unknown" or "class2" under windows it can't write above 1mo/s
purchase to mymemomy.com, thinking i going to return it for warranty
Hi guys. I bought a Kingston Class 4, 16 GB but it's very slow!!!
With Windows 7 the maximum writing speed is less then 4MB/s at best.
Is it damaged?

[Q] What class is my micro sd card?

Hi all,
This should be a quick answer...
How do I know what class my micro sd card is? Its a San Disk 8Gb. Can I assume the little 2 in a circle is the class? Would I be better getting a class 6 card?
Thanks.
Owen.
corect the number in the circle is the class. I running a class 6 samsung and in all honesty no earth shattering diff in 99% of thing phone can do

However my Sandisk memory card doesn't have circle and number. Then how can l find out which class it is?

Hello terzer,
without number on the card only a transfer test can give you an answer.
When you have an adapter to use the card with your pc card reader, you
can stop the time to transfer e.g. 100 MB to the card. Devide the 100 MB
by the time and you have the writing transfer rate (e.g. for 10 s:
100 MB / 10 s = 10 MByte / s ), repeate this with reading the 100 MB
back and you have the reading transfer rate.
Class 2 - 2 MB/s minimum writing
Class 4 - 4 MB/s minimum writing
Class 6 - 6 MB/s minimum writing
Class 10 - 10 MB/s minimum writing
Stop time after finished copy process - pc somtimes uses write cache
and displays multiple of real rate.

this will be far more accurate than the class rating on the card and you can really compare cards decisively
Hmmm just used "J Disk Benchmark" to test my SD CARD it suposed to be a 16 GB class 4 . read speed 2,4 MB write speed 1,4 MB so its more a class 2 than a class 4 card !!

32 GB Class 10 microSDHC cards tested in the Sensation

Hi, just thought I'd create a thread for people buying the HTC Sensation, but also intend to buy a 32GB microSDHC.I will probably get a Class 10 type myself, but if anyone can link to lower class cards that out perform's Lexar's Class 10 card I, and others will be interested.
Please can we ignore any unknown brand cards, and anything relating to eBay. - As we know likely to be fake.
I found this card and if you have tried it, or are going to try it I will be interested in knowing how well it performs. As I intend to buy it for my new phone in a few weeks time.
£40...http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?origin=gbase10.5&prodID=2106472
What class is that card? It mentions class 10 in the description which is confusing, but that price is awesome if it is a class 10. In fact it's pretty good for a class 2 card!
[edit] just looked closer at that card and it is a class 10. wow!
That's either a misprice or a fake. No way should it be that cheap. Even on ebay those are nearly double the price....from HK!!
Anyone ordered one yet?
Legit company. Checkout 32gb card thread in galaxy s2 accessories thread.
Apparently no stock though. I googled the manufacturer number and it relates to Class 10.
You know something, I wonder if they have put a cheap price up just to drive alot of web traffic to his website. Maybe permanently out of stock. Will ring them tomorrow to find out.

I upgraded from a 16GB Sandisk "ultra" to Lexar 32GB class 10, I noticed a huge speed increase, now the photo gallery loads pictures much faster than before, copying files is faster and nandroid backup is MUCH faster (over 1GB data to backup)
I don't know if Lexar is the fastest but for the price and performance it's very good.
When you consider sandisk extreme class 10 normal sd,can write 20 or 30mb/sec it is quite slow, for a class 10, but beggars cant be choosers, and its fairly new tech for microsdhc i guess. UFS-I looks ace. Theres a toshiba 16gb microsdhc that does 20mb write. Can people find out if the Sensation is UFS-I conpatible? Bet price is significantly dearer though.

As a photographer I’ve been using Lexar cards for many years and find them very fast, solid and reliable.
I will be getting one to put into my SENSATION, once it is released in the UK (just in time for my June upgrade yipee).
may still keep my HD2 and load up lots of ROMs……or……£130 to sell it on line to the recycling dudes.

Yes, I've used them quite a few times in the past. Whenever there's been a problem (2 cards were not delivered even though they were apparently dispatched) they have sorted it out quickly and efficiently with just a single email.
I'd certainly recommend them.
SanDisk 32GB Class 2
Kingston 32GB Class 4
Patriot 32GB Class 10
^ tested all 3 of this and stayed with the last one. For the price and size/speed thats the best. As I don't trust ADATA nor WINTEC along with Lexer. So if anyone interested seriously look in to it.

As I have owned and tested SanDisk 32GB Class 2 and Kingston 32GB Class 4 and now Patriot LX 32GB Class 10. I can safely say this is by far the fastest card I used and not only does it meets the minimum class requirement but it exceeds it with flying colors. I have placed benchmark at the bottom so others who is thinking about buying this card can view it to make better decisions. For the price I give this card 7/10 and for speed 10/10, but thats far as I would go to defend this card.

Question regarding MicroSD usability for swap partition

However because I have fewer then 10 posts I have to post the question in the generic Q/A area, even though its specific to this mod. Bummer.

As you can see my Sequential and Random 512K read speeds are blazing fast, but are the 512KB write and 4KB read/write speeds sufficient for use as swap memory?
Hopefully the author of the thread in question will see this and answer, if not hopefully you all have enough expertise in that subject to help with my question. Thanks!
P.S. I don't have a custom ROM yet, or even root access. The reason being I bought a phone without knowing the USB port was faulty. A failed self repair later left me with a working but irreparable Sensation. :crying: So I am am about to get a working sensation that I CAN root, and in preparation of that, I wanted to know if I have a good SD for a swap partition. That's all. Thanks for reading.

Hello, I have a question for the thread: [MOD] How to make and use a swap partition on the SD-card (htc Sensation)
However because I have fewer then 10 posts I have to post the question in the generic Q/A area, even though its specific to this mod. Bummer.
Maybe you can help me with my question?
I have a HTC Sensation 4G, and I would like to use that mod, but I am unsure if my 16GB Sandisk MicroSDHC class 4 is sufficient. My speed tests done with crystaldiskmark are:

Hi,
I didn't see your post, but malybru PMed me, so thanks malibru
Wow, first time I see sucb thorrough tests prior to give this a go !
What you should consider in your tests, are 4Kb block randdom reads/writes, as that comes close to what swap actually does, jt will read/write memory pages from/to the card, and a page is 4Kb in size.
I've been using hardswap on my HD2 on a Transcend 32Gb class 4 for quite a bit, and used it in my Sensation in the beginning to switch to the Lexar 32Gb class 10 (can't say I really noticed any difference), and that's the card I now use on my SGS3.
Hope this helps And feel free to ask further questions here, I'll keep en eye on your thread.
JP.

I was hoping you would be the one to answer! lol.
a few questions
1: So what is the ideal 4KB read and write speed? And what cards are best to use? (if you know)
2: In the future I plan on getting a SanDisk Ultra 32GB class 10 MicroSDHC, (although my sequential read speeds are all I really care about and that won't change if I get a Sandisk Ultra) in your thread you mentioned, in response to a question, that class 10 cards do indeed have better sequential read and write speeds, but they suffer in Random 4KB read/write speeds compared to class 4 and 6 cards, does this remain true with more modern cards? So if I plan on using a Sandisk Ultra Class 10 it'll perform worse for swap then my current class 4?
3: What random 4KB r/w speeds did you get with your class 4 Transcend 32GB? VS your Lexar Class 10?
4: Will having a dedicated swap partition have increased Random 4KB r/w speed? As opposed to FAT32 Random 4KB r/w speeds.
5: Do you think my lousy speeds will be okay? Are they normal speeds?
6: I want more ram, but if having a slow SD card for swap causes unnecessary lag, then I'm actually considering doing a soft swap with internal memory, as I can easily use link2SD with a normal 2nd partition to make up for the drop in space. And like someone else said on the main thread, the internal memory is much higher quality and will likely last WAY longer then a SD card so i'm not THAT concerned about it, and wouldn't do it unless it would truly make a difference. Would it make a difference in speed?
Thanks for you help!
Looking forward to your reply.
ZRAM
Also, many Roms come with zram enabled. Will that improve my RAM performance? I doubt they would add it if it wouldn't, but i don't really understand zram. I know all it does is compress and decompress part of the RAM. But how does it truly affect use? And If hard swap is better, how would I disable zram for it?
Thanks.

Speed cannot say, never benched my cards like you did. From experience a class 6 is fine, class 10 maybe, as class determination changed from 6 to 10, up to 6, there needed to be a minial random write throughput, for class 10 (aimed at HD cameras) there is a minimal sequential write throughput.
Have a read here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Speed_Class_Rating

You may already have read the wiki I now just figured
The fact is, that there is certainty about random access performance, one could be good, the other bad...
My Lexar class 10 is performing just fine in my SGS3.

To be honest, I ran both on my Sensation, and I saw no difference on swap performance.

Slighty yes, as there is no filesystem overhead.

Internal memory is certainly the faster as the bottleneck is the sdcard controller, which for internal memory is no sdcard controller.
It being of better quality, honestly, I don't think so, maybe compared to cheap ones, but no high-end cards like the one you mention. But we're talking on a "belief" level, I couldn't tell any more than most of us, you'd have to speed to someone that has both menufactured
If I can help any more, just ask your questions

Okay, well i guess i'll just have to try it. lol. But I also asked a question about zram? it's in a separate post, below the big one with the 6 questions, (now that I think about it I could've just edited my first post) so you didn't see it. Can you answer my question?
Thanks.

I'm no big fan of zram ... but that's just me, I'm certain for some it may be good.
I'd suggest (as I've written a lot about this) you have a look in two threads :
1) my sgs3 kernel thread OP, scroll to Virtual Memory in the Arome Settings Explained section
2) in the FAQ of my sgs3 hardswap mod thread (3rd post) and look for zram
That should make it quite clear I hope
JP.
PS: Links to both threads are in my signature.

Help Chosing SD Card

I have a 16 GB Kingston class 10 micro SD and it works quite fine. Now I am thinking of increasing my storage and browsed the rates of 32 GB SD cards. Although they seem affordable but the reviews for them are quite bad. Is it advisable to buy a 32GB class 10 SD card?.
Further, if yes, which brand would you suggest?

Try Delkin Device

goo for sandisk or samsung cards
don't ever buy verbatim or strontium.....
SAMSUNG
Got a Samsung PRO 16 GB C10. There were two variants i.e PRO and PLUS. The PLUS variant is a little costly but if you have got some extra money its surely worth it. The card claims to have a 48 MBPS read speed. What I am getting is a decent write speed ranging from 9-15 MBPS.
Sandisk
Go for sandisk. I m using Sandisk 32 gb class 10 sd card for 7 months there is no problems yet
Try Sony SR-32UYA

Could you post the Writing/Reading speedtest of your 16GB Class 10 card? (download SDTools from Playstore and run it) I'm thinking of buying the same!!
Also, Are you rooted??
