Try finding the thread about mms pictures. My guess is the solution is the same.

Crop the pic, save and then try. This works for mms.

Yea I downloaded photoid, cropped the pic and saved it then uploaded it and was fine. Still would like a fix for this tho.

I too have the same problem.
It's an orientation problem against PC vs Nexus s.
When you take a pic using NS, the landscape/portrait is ok.
But when you view it on the PC(on this case Facebook), its different.
Maybe we should use the dedicated landscape or portrait function rather than on auto.
all SGS phones do it, custom ROM or not

(REQ) stock camera.apk to replace 2.3 camera.apk

Ok so in my opinion, the stock camera.apk is a whole lot better than the one that is on gingerbread, and that is what is keeping me from switching. I use the camera on this thing a lot!i have read where some have tried to replace the new with the old to no avail... Can someone please make this happen, or even suggest a better alternative... In the mean time I will try to do the same
It will work we just need the LG framework again

Same here, I'm reversing back to eaglesblood 1.02 because it has the stock camera.
Try this and report.

Froyo camera doesn't work on gb roms.....

Dam. I really liked the lg cam too
G2x with faux AOSP
I really miss the ability to focus onto any spot on the screen, rather than limited to focusing on the middle of the frame or whatever it does automatically. I have not seen this feature on any of the camera apps in the market.
Vignette does that. It was too laggy for me, however, and I have since moved on to camera360.

This is also what is holding me back from quite a few ROM's and simply getting gingerbread also. I use it so much that it breaks the deal for me.
Any update on this?

LG Camera App

Wondering about this.... since we all like the LG app so much better, is there a way to take it out of the froyo build and drop it into the the new gb build? If its possible, it would be nice to know how.

Why is everyone making a big deal about lg camera app?

The camera app is pretty sweet. I don't know how many times I've sold a G2x when someone came in looking for a digital camera.

Why do you come onto every thread and poison it with your opinion that the lg camera isn't important, when you admitted yourself, that you don't even USE A CAMERA?

I've been torn as to whether I should stay on this gb release, go to cm7, or even miui. I'm not quite sure yet... camera doesn't bother me all that much quite yet.

Will the MIUI camera apk work on CM7, since I believe that's a CM7 based rom?
edit: Tried it...not that simple, lol. Will not install, even after removing the aosp camera app.

Where can I find that camera app? Is it available if I am not rooted?
Sorry for the noob question.
miui is built off of cm7 so I would think it would work. ill upload the apk when I get home if someone doesn't beat me to it.
Here you go. I would make a backup of your rom before trying the camera just in case.
Use any file manager with root access to place the APK in system/app then reboot. The camer should then be in your app drawer. If when trying to open it it force closes it wont work. I think it should work with CM7 but dunno about stock gingerbread.

Because the LG camera app has more features and tweaks the camera to take better quality video and photos. It also has the zoom feat. while recording video which is nice to have. Its hard going back to stock after being used to utilizing the extra feats.
Geah!

I pulled the Miuicamera apk from the miui rom, but doesn't work for me. I"ll try your download now.
edit: force closes

[Q] Video Recorder forceclose!!!

Using the most recent Hellfire Phoenix Rom I am getting camera force closes often and all the time when switched to video recording. What's up with this? I've tried the LG cam.zip also...same thing...
I've got the same setup on two G2x's and this is only the case with one. Would the best thing be to re-flash? I was hoping there might be another way because the one that needs the help is my work phone and I hate having to set it up completely each time I install a ROM or whatever.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance...and I would have used the development thread for this but I have less than 10 posts currently. I normally don't have issues or anything that I can't figure out myself with search or my skills. LoL.
I told this to someone else earleir and this might also be the case. Every phone despite being developed the same may not work the same. For example, not everyone knows but there are 4 models of the g2x. Not all roms are compitable with every version. I would suggest looking up the version you have and bringing that to the attention of the developers. And yes, by the way, you can access the development thread and you can post on them. Most of the responses for bugs are people with less then 10 thanks. As far as a fix, I don't know. Look through the thread for your rom and see if anyone claims this issue. If so, there should also be a fix somewhere in there. If not, let the dev know so they look into it. Again, MAKE SURE YOU LET THEM WHAT MODEL P999 YOUR USING!! As for where to find that, I'm not sure. I know 2 of them are the lg p999DW and the lg p999DWP. Theres 3 others but I don't know how to tell which they are. If i figure it out I'll let you know.
Edit: under the battery cover. Not under the battery though. Right below the bottom of the battery next to the screw youll see it in white print.
Edit 2: Kinda curious, which rom version are you using?
LG-P999DW is what both phones read.
I'm using the Hellfire Phoenix ROM (excellent btw).

Video Recording should not be working on any LG G2X running ICS at the moment. Unless you use Videocam Illusion Recorder.
Sorry to say it, but without the proper drivers, this function is busted.

ya i must have read that too fast and just put it together as both phones aren't working... the only thing i would suggest is just a simple reflash of the rom, no wiping just reflash it. if not then proper wipe and flash, if not that then nandroid back to a rom you were positive the phone's videocam was working.

Haha, don't get me wrong though... I would have thought the same thing too.
Infact when I saw it was a videocam issue, I was all ready with a ICS response, lol.

Nope not ICS, tried that and liked it though no video recording.
Anyhow, since there are no posted fixes other than reflashing I suppose that's the route I'll go.
Thanks though.

[Q] Front facing camera EB Build 4 upside down

Hi guys, I'm using Eaglesblood ICS build 4 and front facing camera seems to be upside down? Also the auto brightness mode doesn't seem to be working, I have to set brightness manually. Otherwise everything works flawlessly, love the room
Anyone else got those issues? or know how to fix? Thanks!
btw I'm on v21y running v21y compatible version of EB Build 4
Every ICS rom for the G2X doesn't have any video encoding. In other words, everything will be screwed up. If you want something stable on your phone get gingerbread. Sooner or later the G2X will get it's video drivers on ICS.
Hope I cleared things up for you
In the forum for EGB it talks about upside down camera on v21y a few pages from the end.
