I have tried to include softwares which are practically needed and removed all other softwares which are not needed by an average user who need stable ROM and Fast ROM. Also anytime you can go back to original rom if you need to claim warranty.
Also this is for GREEN Lens & Red Lens

how's the battery life. Is it better than stock froyo.

Good thanks any plans on upgrading froyo to gingerbread?

How did you test and therefore claim it is the fastest rom?

There is no test. But this is my observation with so many roms of Froyo and Gingerbread.
After comparing both the OS, I found froyo to be more stable on Defy and hence worked out this rom.
I tested this on quadrant score of 1393 and the GPS fix is done in 9 seconds
the camera gets the location in 3 seconds... Also camera is more responsive in this rom.
After Installing, install your favourite browser and favourite file browser as I have removed the stock browser and file manager as Market has much better options.
If I keep them, they will unnecessarily be seen in the menu and eat RAM/Battery and many guys dont use them. Hence decided to remove them.

appreciate your efforts in bringing this up... and hope that it better than the stock froyo. However would be kind if you could provide more details on your ROM.
Many would like to understand the difference between this and the others available before jumping onto the rom.
I experience on IN Stock Froyo has been disappointing and the reason I had to switch to CM 7x
Thanks.

Can I install CM7 or MIUI over this ROM? Will it have the new kernel?
Thanks!

[ROM] OmegaEVO v1.1 [[NEW 3.30.651.3 OTA]] [[Froyo 2.2]] Updated 11/15/2010

For my new ROM please go HERE
Installation instructions & other useful information
To install on your Evo:
1. Copy OmegaEVO_v1.0_by_Ricsim78.zip to the root of your SD card.
2. Shut off your phone and boot into recovery.
3. Do a full wipe (Data, cache, Dalvik, SD Ext.) Do it twice to be sure if you want to!
4. Install OmegaEVO_v1.0_by_Ricsim78.zip. It should take a few minutes to install.
5. Reboot the phone. It should take a long time to start up the first time. Please be patient!
6. If all goes well, enjoy your new ROM!
7. If not, start over from step 2 after pulling your battery.
To install a custom kernel: Let the ROM load up first and then reboot into recovery and wipe the cache and Dalvik. Then install the custom kernel and reboot.
To install a theme: Let the ROM load up first and then reboot into recovery and wipe the cache and Dalvik. Then install the theme and reboot.
How to backup and restore using Titanium backup Here is the method I use to backup my phone information before I wipe and install a new ROM
I backup my entire phone with a batch "Backup all user apps + system data"
Wipe and install the new ROM,
I open Titanium Backup (TB) and give it super user rights.
I hit "Updates?" in TB and make sure I am running the latest.
I hit "Problems?" in TB and make sure I am using Busybox 1.60
Hit menu and select batch
Select "Backup all new apps + newer versions of apps", if any.
Select "Restore missing apps with data"
Go over the list and make sure you are restoring only what you want
Hit run batch operation
After it completes, go back into TB and backup restore.
Restore contacts twice
Restore MMS twice
Restore Mail twice
If any of the 3 above do not take, do it again
Restart your phone
Verify mail, MMS, and contacts restored. If not, restore again.
Why Amon RA and not Clockwork recovery?
Clockwork does not wipe the Dalvik properly (if at all). I personally have had nothing but problems with both Clockwork and ROM manager
I have said countless times that if you use either of the above, it is at your own risk. Install Amon RA recovery and I bet any wiping/installing problems will go away.
If you already are using ROM manager, pick the option to install a custom recovery, choose Amon RA 1.8. If that option is greyed out, reinstall the latest Clockwork then install RA.
Note: Do not do a fix permissions with anything unless you need to, you can screw stuff up that way.
Trust me, the new ROM is devoid of problems (I have never tested a ROM this much before releasing it). If you experience any, it is either something you are doing wrong or incomplete wipes thanks to your recovery not doing it's job properly.
What is the proper method to install the ROM and other things (kernels, themes, and mods, etc.)
Lets say you want to add a kernel, a theme, and then a clock modification.
Nandroid first!
ROM: Wipe data, cache, Dalvik (twice), SD:EXT.
Install the ROM.
Let the ROM load up the first time.
Sign into your Google account
Let it sync
When the sync icon goes away, reboot into recovery.
In recovery, wipe the cache and Dalvik (twice)
Install the theme
Reboot
Let it load all the way up again.
Reboot into recovery
In recovery, wipe the cache and Dalvik (twice)
Install the kernel
Reboot
Let it load all the way up again.
Reboot into recovery
Wipe the cache and Dalvik (twice)
Install the clock MOD
Reboot
This is my method and works every time without issue. Obviously, to install another item, you would repeat the process.
Hope this both helps and clarifies.
Which kernels work with this ROM?
Any that are designed for a Sense ROM. This includes:
Netarchy's
Kingclick's
Hero Over's
Ziggy's
HTC's
Which kernel do you recommend to use?
I cannot recommend a kernel for you because each EVO reacts different. The best for my phone can be the worse for yours.
You have to try the different ones available and pick the one that works best for you. What I do is start with their latest and work your way down until you find one that works well. Then stick with it.
This also goes for overclocking, SetCPU settings, etc.
Which themes work with this ROM?
Themes make your phone look nice but can also add problems to an otherwise smooth running ROM. You can use any theme you wish, but Nandroid first and if anything is broken, please do not blame the ROM as it is the theme that added the problem.
This includes my older modded themes and any theme made for 3.29 and 3.30 OTA updates They may work or they may work but break things.
Using my theme avoids this problem. It matches with my ROM perfectly and breaks nothing. Also, my theme is optimized for maximum speed and reduces the overhead of a theme (most themes are not optimized and add a bunch of stuff which increases system overhead, reduces battery life and speed a bit). As an added perk, it is a small download.
Hey, what gives? How come this ROM is saying it is 3.30.651.2 when I thought it was the 3.30.651.3 OTA?
3.30.651.3 is NOT a full ROM, it is a kernel and a few other minor changes. This is why the OTA is 7 MB or less instead of 160+ MB like a ROM usually is.
There is no issue, this is the 3.30.651.3 update. Hence the HTC # 17 kernel. Notice the screenshot in the first post also says that mine has 3.30.651.2? That is because basically this is a bandaid for a recently released OTA. That is why the number went up in the last decimal place. A major update would be like 3.31.XXX.X
sounds good, any screenies?
Screenshots available soon. 10 char

Well, without recooking it or using a theme (which would take out my wallpapers) no. Let me see if I can come up with a better solution. If not I will re-cook it with a different battery icon.
EDIT: Replacement battery indicator included in the first post for anyone who does not like the circle battery indicator the ROM is cooked with.

I added a link to download a recovery flashable battery indicator (changes battery to smooth with percentage) in the first post. This way you can keep the stock circular one or switch it if you do not like it. Choice is good!

Thanks for the compliments and I am glad you like. There is 4 custom wallpapers included, I found them from Desktop Nexus and resized them to fit the Evo screen (960x800) using Paint.net for Windows 7.
You should also check out the custom ring tones and notifications!

That was how this ROM was born, I liked almost all of the ones on the board, but none had the ringtones, notifications, or wallpapers I wanted.
Problem solved! Glad to see it is working for everyone as well. I had no problems with this ROM, think it helps that it is based off the OTA and not a custom ROM.
I will keep this ROM updated. Future plans is to come up with a Sense removed, AOSP element version and add more customizations. I also need to update some of the apps (TB, to name one). I kept some of the stock Sprint stuff in just so no one had problems updating the Voicemail or other Sprint apps left in.
Please rate the thread and let me know if there is anything I should include, change, etc. etc.

Sounds good man, hehe. Please let me know what you think and I hope you like this ROM.
I begin work on the next version of Azrael today, expect version 2.1 out soon, By Wednesday I should have it tested out and ready to go.
Known changes I am going to be making:
-all apps updated
-battery indicator changed to Smooth battery with percentage (far more useful than the one Azrael 2.0 is cooked with and so far the only complain heard about this ROM) *knock on wood*
-Another custom wallpaper or 3 thrown in for good measure
Whatever changes I make, I will of course note them in the release notes.
I also want to get some more theme options available, maybe modify some themes so they do not take out my custom wallpapers. That way you can make this ROM more how you want it to be as well.
I really hope everyone who tries this likes it, I know I am up there with some really good ROM makers here that have far more reputation, but so far everything has been positive and I hope that at least a few people find my work useful.
Lastly, I am glad to offer another ROM option and give back to a community that has given me much.

[Q] Flashing Rom - Where to start?

Hi,
Thanks to thiagodark I've finally rooted my phone (Got it in Feb)
Now for step 2 ... Flashing Roms
Can some one suggest where I start? I see that the [ROM] [Nightly] CyanogenMod 7 (alpha) is pretty popular ... would that be a recommended start?
Two things I look to after flashing a rom would be a) install BLN (so, the rom has to have support for that) and b) should have the power widget in the notification (where I can pull down notification and toggle wifi, sound, bluetooth or whatever). Would also prefer if the a 2.3.4 Rom.
Two other things I'd like to know and would really appreciate help with are:
a) Can I flash a rom and then install any kernel ... are they all compatible?
b) I did a Google Search and found these steps to Flash a Rom:
Flash a Custom ROM
1. Head over to our Nexus S ROMs section, choose a ROM you want and download it and save it to your computer.
2. Plug your phone in and mount the internal storage so we can transfer files to it.
3. Copy the ROM .zip file over to the root of the internal storage (NOT in any folders, just on the internal storage itself).
4. Turn off the phone.
5. Turn the phone on by holding down Volume Up and Power until Fastboot mode comes up.
6. Scroll down and select Recovery and wait for the phone to reboot into recovery mode.
7. Once in recovery mode, scroll to Backup, then select Backup and wait for the phone to backup its current ROM.
8. Once it is done, select Wipe Data
9. Then select Flash zip from SD Card
10. Select choose zip from sd card.
11. Select the ROM’s zip file you loaded onto the internal storage earlier and wait for it to flash. Done!
12. Repeat to load a different ROM.

My question is .... Is step 7 what is called a Nandroid? And do I need to do this every time or do I just need to do it when I think that the current setup is good enough to back up? ... yes, I will do it the first time and then only when I think I like a Rom, but want to try another and may revert.
Thanks a ton

First you will want to do is download ROM manager onto your phone, then flash the latest Recovery from within it.
Then you should do a Nandroid (this is the backup option in recovery... do this while everything is stock) this backsup your whole phone (apart from SD card) so if you screw something up you can restore it! It is real useful, you can nandroid as much as you like, all it is is an image of your phone.
If you are just starting out i would avoid the CM nightlies and find the stable thread which is 7.0.3. That coupled with Netarchys latest kernel (includes BLN) really works wonders.
As far as the actuall flashing, all you need to do is copy both zip files onto your sd card, reboot into the recovery (you can do that from within the ROM manager).
Once in the Recovery, wipe data, cache and dalvik, then select flash from zip and choose the rom.
Wipre cache and dalvik again and then flash the kernel and restart the phone.
Thats it you should be good to go. If you ever get any Force Closes restart into recovery again and run the Fix permissions
Happy flashing
Edit
Compatibility wise, CM 7.0.3 is still android 2.3.3 (will be updated to 2.3.4 with cm7.1) so you need a 2.3.3 kernel. You also need to know if your phone is NS3G or NS4G, they are not compatible
Thanks bringonblink ... guess I'm starting to get an understanding now.
Is this Rom Manager available on the market? ... I'll check
Since rooting, I've used my phone for a day, so I presume you suggest that I wipe data and then do the nandroid in step 7 above, then install the Rom manager and go from there?
I understand your suggestion of the stable CM7. Since there is just one link for the download, no confusions
The Netarchy though is a different story ...
What is the CFS and BFS build stuff.
I'm currently using a Nexus S i9020 with 2.3.4.
So, I use the CM7 + which version of Netarchy?
Thanks once again

Rom Mangager is in the market yes.
No before you wipe , flash, crack, hack ANYTHING else again do a bone stock Nandroid backup and save it on your pc or something. This is because RIGHT NOW your phone is in a working state. THEN wipe cache ,dalvik and data and flash Rom.
7.0.3 is really nice, i had been keepign upwith the nightlies but for me 7.0.3 is the sweet spot... will flash to 7.1 stable when its out though xD.
CFS and BFS are different types of shedulers that run the phone (there is a proper explanation in netarchys thread on the first post i think)
You will want to get CFS as it is mroe stable and generally more user friendly lol.
You'll want CM7.0.3 + CFS Universal 2.3.3 1.3.4
Hey bringonblink ... thank you for your reply
I installed Rom Manager as suggested and then flashed the latest Recovery from within it. Booted into Recovery and did a backup. I then went rebooted, went to my internal storage and found the backup in a clockworkmod folder.
I then went to Rom Manager again and clicked on "Install Rom from SD card". I chose update-cm-7.0.3-NS-signed.zip, ticked Backup, Wipe Data and cache and Wipe Dalvik Cache then pressed ok to reboot.
I then got the big triangle with the ! and droid ... waited, nothing happened so I pressed power and volume up. ... this takes me to the regular stock recovery.
Why not to CWM recovery? Did I do something wrong?
Thanks for any help
Hmm flash the recovery again, but from rom manager choose reboot to recovery, don't actually update in rom manager

Ayeeeeeeeee
For some strange reason, when I go to the market from my PC, I see Gmail, but when I try to install, I get the message:
This item cannot be installed in your device's country!
If I go through the market on my phone, I just cannot find gmail although there is a lot of other apps that include the word gmail.
incidentally ... after flashing CM7, anything I try installing through my PC browser gives the same result as above...
By the way ... any reason why gmail is not included with the rom and with the google addons?
Gmail is in the usual Google Apps package. Maybe try flashing it again.

gmail is not available yet in some countries. what you can do is install marketenabler and fake your provider and install gmail.
on cm7, the google apps are not included as they are propriety apps, they are not open source ( if u understand what i mean)
a few years ago, google tried to sue cyanogen for distributing the google apps through cyanogenmod. they then reached an agreement that cyanogenmod could exist provided no gapps were included within.
Hey, thanks for that explanation ... let me check the work around
Hey! am back!
Rather than go through the the trouble of installing market enabler, I just went about testing a couple of other Roms ... since I also wanted to know in what way other roms were different.
I tried Liquid and Infinity ... both were nice and both had gmail, so was happier with them! Wonder why Google went after the cyanogen guys, but the others include those apps
Anyway ... am now downloading Zulu.
After having installed custom roms such as Cyanogen-mod, Liquid and Infinity, I've realized that there are some must haves ...
a) Gmail & Talk (working over 3G)
b) Sip over 3G
c) Power Controls in notification (sexy as in Liquid)
d) screen lock as in Cyanogen (the modded rotary type with an option to add a 3rd party app)
e) BLN support (have not yet got used to the small lights turning on as in BLN but, guess I'll learn).
Would some one know of a Rom that caters to the above ... I'm experimenting with each, but if someone can help, I'd be able to settle in faster
Cheers!

Hey!

They went after Cyanogen because it is the biggest Most ROMS are based off of it too.
BLN is needed in the kernel, not ROM, Netarchys support this.
I think you will like NScollab, runs off of CM7 with some nice tweaks, also includes netarchys kernel as default.
Oh and it already has all gapps included , including gmail
What a coincidence ... was just downloading NScollab ... 28% done
Thanks!
bringonblink ... am liking this NScollab rom
Edit: Never mind ... googled and found ... no use to me
When I go to the market, I get a pop up asking me if I need to install some apps. Any idea what they do and if it is needed?
The apps are:
Google Chrome to Phone ... never heard of this
Google Goggles ... I know this and won't need it.
Kickback
Soundback
Talkback ... these are the 3 I have no idea about!

Recommended ROMS over V21A Official LG ROM?

Hey guys. I just recently picked up an Unlocked LG Optimus P920 off eBay for a great price. It's running software LGP920-V21A but the battery life on the thing is really abysmal. What's a better ROM for the LG P920 that can still utilize the 3D camera? Would I have to go back to Froyo? There seems to be a lot of ROMs in here but I'd like one that would still let me use the 3D camera. Any help on this would be great because Gingerbread V21A sucks.
Try flashing v21D. Then, if you still think it's slow/battery life sucks, try CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1. Instructions to install CM7 (taken from a post of mine in another thread):
Download CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1 and GApps.
Transfer both zip files to the internal sdcard.
Make sure your phone is rooted and ClockworkMod Recovery is installed.
[OPTIONAL] Backup your apps using Titanium Backup (user apps+data only) and your SMSes and call logs if desired.
Power off your phone, then boot to CWM while pressing the 3D + Volume Down + Power buttons (in that order).
Make sure you select "wipe data/factory reset" and in advanced option, select 'clear dalvik cache'
Now tap on "flash .zip through sdcard", tap on "browse .zip from internal sdcard", then flash CyanogenMod 7.2 first, then GApps.
Press back a few times until you reach the main menu, select "reboot system now"
After your phone boots (it will take a while, be patient), set it up normally.
[OPTIONAL] Restore your Titanium Backup and/or SMS and/or call logs.
If you're trying to flash another rom, download the rom and continue from step 2. You do not need to flash GApps.

Yes try V21D Germany ROM.
BTW How much did you pay for it? I would be willing to put my O3D up for sale as well.

Surprisingly not that much. I paid $399.99 for it with free shipping on eBay. The phone was barely used, not a scratch on it. Practically brand new in my opinion, box and everything. Where can I find this V21D? I downloaded the Lestatious Biohazard V21D and so far, it's been working fine. Battery still seems to drain when I'm not even using it.

I've read that CyanogenMod, you can't use the 3D camera. Will I still be able to use the 3D camera and all of the neat 3D apps with this ROM? Thanks for the reply. There's so many ROMS in this Development thread, I don't know which one to try first.
How much battery life are you getting? if its in 90s in morning and by 9pm in 10s then its very good. don't expect much from it. you also should get rid of all the bloatware. Keep the brightness at low ends less than 25%. I have placed a shortcut to brightness setting to change to high for playing games or viewing pics/movies.

My phone lasts about 2 days on about 1 hour of internet usage, a lot of music and some Angry Birds Space. Taken on CyanogenMod 7.2, ymmv. Stock battery if you're curious.
Also get rid of, or patch anything with google ads or continual updating like weather appz etc.
I Think you can use any GB rom.. You have some custom ROM's in development section that are pretty good, i've tried all of them and they run good, fast and smooth, i'm not going to tell what i prefer because some rom's have something that other's dont and vice versa...
About the battery, i only can have good battery life without data or wifi on, when i use 3D/pic's/games the battery starts to go also but in this case its normal.
Install Clock work from market, put the ROM that you've choosen in internal SD and by CWM Recovery you can flash it.
Edit: the Cyanogen is the only ROM that i've known that still doesn't have the full 3D functions..

That's because it's based on AOSP and does not have LG's proprietary Real3D framework. The other ROMs are based on LG's official firmware and so will have 3D functions included.

Damn, if you could put together a tutorial, I'd like to try to install the CM7 ROM the way you did if I can get two days worth of juice before recharging. Would you consider making a tutorial on what exactly you put into the ROM and took out?

This is roughly what I did.
Flash v21D.
Download CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1 and GApps.
Transfer both zip files to the internal sdcard.

Flash CyanogenMod 7.2 first, then GApps.
Press back a few times until you reach the main menu, select "reboot system now"
After your phone boots (it will take a while, be patient), set it up normally.
[OPTIONAL] Restore your Titanium Backup and/or SMS and/or call logs.
As for deleting apps, it really depends on what you need and what you don't. For example, I deleted ADWLauncher and installed LauncherPro instead. You can delete a bunch of stuff like DSPManager, DeskClock, FileManager, LatinIME, PicoTts, Protips, QuickSearchBox, RomManager, Stk, TtsService if you don't use them. You can delete even more apks depending on your usage (make a CWM backup or use adb pull /system before doing any of this) if you want. The apks I removed generally eat up some RAM so deleting things like the Text-to-speech service is a good idea if you don't use it. Also, usage patterns affect the battery life a lot. Do give it a try and good luck
PS. When I boot up my phone with an installation like this, I can get up to 270MB free RAM which is impossible to get on stock/stock-based roms

I'm actually having trouble flashing V21D onto the phone. Every time I run the LG updating App, it always says that I have the latest version of V21A and that I don't need to Update my phone. Is there another method to flashing the V21D onto my phone? I'm currently running the Lestatious Biohazard ROM based V21D but I still have the V21A baseband. How can I flash V21D onto my phone and remove V21A?

Flashing the V21D is a total pain in the ass. I followed all the instructions on that thread to the T and the update still won't get me past 6 percent. The connection would then time out and I'd have to restart the process.
The steps say to put the device in download mode but I can never tell when I'm in it or not. Can anyone elaborate on Download Mode and how to put your O3D in it.
I guess I'm doomed to stay on the battery sucking V21A until I can get it to work.
EDIT: By some divine miracle, I actually got the thing to work. I successfully flashed V21D onto my phone and hopefully, the battery life will improve. Thanks for your help Panda.

SGH-T959W LB6 modem by getochkn for better battery life and faster connections.
Comes with (a translated) NoTelURL app to prevent USSD/MMI exploit. Thanks to the developer Joerg Voss.
Why MIUI ?
It's my favorite ROM. I have checked almost every ROM in this forum and I always come back to this one.
It's incredibly customizable (themes for every possible feature), runs smooth as hell, as stable as can be and all in English/Hebrew.
Jelly bean like task manager built-in : Long press home button brings you a visual button to kill all apps and a task manager.
Jelly bean like full screen toggles - actually Google copied it from MIUI short press to activate/deactivate, long press to get to the specific settings.
Great lock screen with 4 quick options, music player controls, album preview image and digital music bars.
HiFi music player with automatic album image and lyrics download and presentation, built in equalizer and tilt to forward.
Screenshot functionality.
Excellent system apps - browser, file explorer, music player, sound recorder, backup utility, data usage monitor, app autostart, firewall, anti virus - the best you've seen.
Immediate hot boot.
Cool graphics and more.
About 160-200MB free RAM (!)...
Easy to use touch screen TWRP recovery.
FYI
1. SIM card contacts are not available - you have to sync it with Google before flashing the ROM, to be able to have them.
Don't forget that!
I also used the VCF exported file from Samsung contacts.
2. This is an MTD ROM, so if you don't follow instructions carefully you can and will damage and void your phone, IMEI number and functionality.
Back up and save your EFS according to instructions below, before flashing -> or deal with the consequences!
3. To set up NoTelURL to always get activated when you launch suspicious dialer codes - go HERE with your phone (it's a USSD/MMI code test site)
and choose "NoTelURL" as default app for this operation.
Regular phone numbers links will be allowed to call upon confirmation.
Known issues
1. TV-Out, Call recording and 'WiFi calling' are not working.
2. If you suffer from same color background and text in messages, it's because you applied a GB theme over ICS.
I recommend applying "Black android V4.1" (basically all V4 marked themes are for MIUI ICS.
I use it for all except for 'locking method' (I prefer MIUI's original) and 'others' & 'notification bar' where I applied SGS3 theme (to get SGS3 icons in system settings and non transparent notification bar).
They are attached in post #4 and defined in MIUI themes app.
3. To be able to use your own mp3s for notifications, alarms and ringtones - you need to put them in system/media/audio/... {use root explorer or similar app, fix permissions afterwards}.
4. There's a Whatsapp silent notification sound bug on MIUI.
I modified Whatsapp installation to utilize the default system notification sound and it works.
It is available here and comes with the ROM.
Some pictures from HebMIUI :
More pictures...
Installation instructions :
Upgraders from previous versions :
1. Go to recovery.
2. Wipe Cache partition.
3. Wipe Dalvik cache.
4. Flash ROM.
5. Reboot system.
6. Use MIUI toolbox to calibrate battery. follow instructions.
New comers (for GB BML ROM, If you're on CM9/AOKP go straight to step 7) :
1. Backup everything :
a) Synchronize all your SIM contacts to Google. They will not appear in an MTD ROM such as this.
b) Back up all your user apps in Titanium backup.
c) Make a nandroid backup of your ROM through CWM recovery.
2. Download the following :
Team Acid files
efs-backup
efs-restore
HebMIUI V8.4 ROM
Google Apps
SGSIII & Black android V4.1 themes (extract to SDCard\MIUI\themes)
3. Put efs-backup on your SD card and flash it through CWM recovery. It will create 2 EFS backup files.
4. Copy SD Card including the EFS backup files to your PC/Mac.
5. Put HebMIUI zip on your SD Card.
Make sure you have the EFS created backup files from section 3 on your SD card root.
6. Go to Recovery (use hardware buttons - Vol+ & Volume- & PWR. once splash shows, leave the PWR while keeping the volume buttons pushed).
Make sure it's at least CWM5, otherwise flash a newer kernel) and return to recovery.
a) Wipe Cache / Partition.
b) Advanced - Wipe Dalvik cache.
c) Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
d) Mounts and storage - perform Format System.
e) Perform mount /system.
f) Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
7. Install from Zip file - choose the HebMIUI ROM zip.
Follow aroma instructions. If you were on GB - you will be rebooted after BML-->MTD transition and need to repeat installation.
8. Flash Google Apps.
9. Reboot system.
10. Wait for 10 minutes.
That's it! Enjoy!
You can set the themes I put here (in MIUI themes app) if you want to.
Notes :
1. MultiLing O Keyboard has the lowest memory print comparing to any other keyborad supporting slide typing. That's why I included it.
2. Rocket Dialer was added for better Hebrew dialer and contacts support that will last through all MIUI themes.
3. My experience shows that MIUI music player doesn't enjoy audio MODs.
It has its own EQ. If you still want to use music mods - push Apollo.apk from CM9/Beastmode's miui and use it instead of MIUI music player. Not sure it's worth it.
It does work great with VoodooSound free app, which is also crucial if you want to record a live shows with loud audio.
4. Personally I prefer Nova launcher over MiuiLauncher. Also included in installation.
5. If you want to go back to Samsung (BML) ROM (such as HebrewValhalla or HebrewBarebone), go here - HebrewBarebone and follow instructions.
6. How do I know on which HebMIUI version I am? Go to settings --> about phone --> Build.
You will see: MIUI2.8.10 HebMIUI XX_TW or MIUI2.8.10 HebMIUI XX_NT, where XX represents the version number and TW=Tweaked, NT=Not Tweaked.

Installation instructions updated...
Now that installation instructions are updated, most of the issues and bugs are gone and not reptoducing.

keep that good work tzik2sh I already update your thread in the wiki:laugh:
I read a bit.
Call recording is first illegal in the US, second it is kernel dependent.
In my country it is completely legal and it's useful with telemarketers. I once asked AntonX to add it to basic with a twist kernel, but at this point it is over my head and I'll have to look for Erikmm or Hampsterblade's magic.
Edit: maybe this can help...

I'm not a lawyer, but I've heard that call recording in the state of California is legal as long as both parties know that the call is being recorded, which is why you get a lot of "Your call may be recorded or monitored for quality and training purposes" when you call up a lot of customer support places. If you don't want your call recorded you can hang up, but since they tell you that it might happen, they can record.
I wouldn't mind having this functionality enabled after an automated announcement to both sides, but I do want telemarketers to stand for what they say and have an evidence on my side.

[Dev][ROM][MIUI] MIUIv4 for I9103 based on ICS

Hi Guys,
Here I present the first fully functional MIUI beta build.
A word of caution:
This is a port and not a custom stock rom. This is a beta release. It means the build is stable but there are a few known issues. Keep reading for the list of known issues.
About the Rom:
MIUI port based on deodexed Austrian rom.
Kernel - Ardatdat v4.2beta6 1.32G
What MIUI offers:
MIUI may not be as fast as cyanogenmod but offers a lot in terms of eyecandy, not to mention the unlimited range of themes that can make your phone look like iPhone, like HTC Sense UI and many many more custom themes, just with a button click.
The ease with which you can handle all securities like permission, call filtering etc in MIUI is great.
All in all it a different experience altogether.
What works:
Almost everything
Some theme related Issues: (Theme are in general very usable, feel free to go ahead and enjoy MIUI themes, these are minor issues)
1. On first boot after the installation the wallpaper is not properly alligned. Reboot solves the issues. I forgot to change the stock ICS wallpaper, but you guys can do it youself
2. Lockscreen lags - still unable to fix this but a lot of lockscreens from the themes work faster than default miui lockscreen. Try them out.
3. There is a strange issue where after applying a few themes, lockscreen does not work. It seems like a screen freeze but infact its not. its just that the lockscreen wallpaper does not draw onto the screen. If you scroll over the expected place for the lock screen the screen unlocks and everything works fine. Solution for this could be to not use the theme at all or to use a seperate lockscreen under mix tab. It actually happens because the developer made references to certain image files but are not used in the theme. I think its a mistake by the developer of the theme but ideally we should we able to bypass such scenarios and load the screen anyway. I am working on the same. Please note, it happens for very few themes, themes in general are still very usable.
Note:- Always apply themes without font when promted. This will happen when themes contain fonts. Font changes have been disbaled not only on our patchrom but also on galaxy S2 as well. I guess its a general problem.
The worst: If at all you manage to screw up with the themes and render the system unusable, no need to wipe data. Go to recovery and just delete /data/system/theme folder with adb
Help me make MIUI rom better:
I still need testers to improve this rom. Please feel free to report issues
A logcat, if possible, is always helpful.
My sincere thanks:
To fuss132 and ronak.super for introducing me to the concept of MIUI patchrom. I always thought it was an AOSP thing only :good:
To ardatdat coz i am using his kernel.
To TheFrankenstain, I used his rom as base for a deodexed stock rom.
To chandanbs, hasanjaved, parmarket and all others who reported issues and helped me improve this rom.
Link to the rom:
v1.0

(Thanks hors_sergio for uploading)
v1.1
http://d-h.st/FoT
How to install:
1. Wipe data / factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik cache.
2. Flash the rom.
3. Flash gapps from here.
http://www.2shared.com/file/A9nNU4Fl/gapps-ics-20120317-signed.htm[/B]l
I recomment not to wipe data / factory reset from cwm or from within the rom after flashing the rom. But if you did and now stuck on boot animation, open CWM and just flash the RestoreMIUI zip from below. This can also be used, if one of the themes messed up your system and you can no longer get the system to boot. No need to wipe data again. Just flash the zip file
RestoreMIUI link:
http://d-h.st/EUQ
This is a full build. No need to apply any updates provided earlier
Note:
Wipe data will remove all your apps and data. Please make neccessary backups.
Please don't directly flash ardatdat kernel over this rom. I made modifications in init script to include miui framework jar and to enable custom bootanimations.
Last, flash at your own risk.
Happy flashing!!
CHANGELOG:
v1.1
Compiled with the latest MIUI patchrom code. Some apps added by default but most are relevant only for the chinese. This is again a full release and not an update. I had to be because I built using the latest MIUI patchrom sources.
Fixes:
1. Fixes the irritating sec MIUI, sec error dialogs. Now if some application crashes we get proper error message
2. LockScreen sound lag fixed. Some lockscreen still lag if you turn screen off and on immediately. But we dont get the default ICS screen anymore. It gives the current wallpaper now. Overall the lag feel a little better.
3. Themes fixed in dialer where background texture were not displayed correctly. Some theme lockscreens will still not work. But most of these themes are not formed correctly becuase I keep getting missing images in the logs and the images are actally missing in the theme package. Maybe there's a workaround somewhere but I can't solve it for now. So lets live with it
4. PIN unlock works now.
5. MIUI backup seems to be working fine now. No issues with Contact backups
6. Tried to fix SIM import issue. Can someone test. My sim card is empty.
7. Can now play mp3 by clicking on it within fileExplorer. I guess it wasn't working earlier.
8. Lot of other small fixes.
v1.0 beta
Fixes:
1. Now no more FC/restarts on App error messges. However, still need to see why we get sec MIUI and sec and not more meaning error messages
2. USB mass storage works now.
3. FC/restart on volume up/down when screen turned off fixed
4. Themeing fixed (most themes working)
5. Added support for custom boot animation (Thanks to freeza from Galaxy III forum for the wonderful article on changing bootanimation and to wanansmile coz I used his trick to stop boot animation)
6. Root and Permission issues fixed
7. Improper shutdown messages fixed
8. App storage calculation fixed. Now you can clear data, clear cache for particular apps.
9. Added support for move app to Usb Storage
10. Fixed no multiple call rings issue
11. Fixed Browser image downloading app Error issue
v0.1
Initial alpha build
A general tip : Sometimes when I change something in settings, it doesn't get saved. Must do it 1-2 more times and it works. If you click on the text for a setting toggle and not the toggle itself, it works a lot better. Probably its meant to be used this way. You get a sound when changes are applied. I cound enable voodoo smart amplifier too when clicking on the text. I can't fix it coz I dont get any errors in logs when clicking the toggle itself.
So do all device functions work ? Like Network, WiFi, Data, Camera, FM, all bundled apps etc. ?

Network, WiFi, Data, Camera - Yes
FM - App opens fine, did not test
all bundled apps - They work, but you may get some launcher restart issues with some apps.
It'll be better if some screenies will be added to op.

Dammit. I did take some sceenshots. Just forgot to put them in OP. Thanks for reminding.
Miui is a aosp based custom rom so it requires different kernel than stock to run. So I have some questions.
1. Can u plz tell what kernel u have used?
2. Is there are some kernel related extra function?
3. Have u removed secured erase? If not data wipe can lead to known emmc super brick.

Please give some info about the kernal. Can we use latest Ardatdat updates? Do I have to flash Australian ROM first to flash MIUI? I am currently on Angeeks custom rom over Nordiac.

Its based on custom stock rom buddy and uses ardatdat kernel. But you can't directly flash ardatdat kernel coz I made init script changes.
I am not sure if you need to flash Austrian rom first. Do it if you want to play safe or maybe you can try directly. I think it should work since you are wiping data. Do let us know the outcome if you choose to try it.

Buddy, It would be great if you can make an FAQ in OP so that many questions can be answered in a single shot. And please mention the kernal version too. I am not able to flash atm, have to look into it tonight:good:

If you can, apply your mods to all latest (1G and 1.32G) versions of ardadat kernels and add them to OP.
Wow... a working miui! I love you guys!
Can I flash this directly over the maZel II rom, or should I make a clean setup?

Better wipe, install austrian ICS, latest CWM, flash MIUI and any other stuff you want to (like MBB mod), and fix permissions before rebooting.
while granting SU permissions, device freezes and reboots.
after reboot pop-up appears asking SU permissions and accepting it or declining it both freezes device and reboots.
i m unable to provide logcats as phone is not being detected in adb.
also i m unable to use adb, device is not being detected.
