question about ADW launcher - XPERIA X10 Themes and Apps

hi there guys, i have one doubt about ADW launcher,
i found in many places over internet that a lot of ppl can set their desktop rid up to 10x10
but my adw only allow me to make it up to 8x8
so how can i make it 10 and if its about the version and the update, why it never give me the notfication about there is update availible?

Well im on 1.3.3 (yes it is legit, i just dont want to update because this is stable for me) i can go menu key > More > ADWSettings > UI Settings > Screen Prefs > Desktop Columns (Up to 10) and Rows (Up to 10)

thanks for your reply, but are you talking about the adw launcher (ex) ? or the free version? coz i have the free one and the version is 1.3.6 standalone !!

No mines paid. If your not using the paid version that might be why you can't see it

Different Homes?

So I recently saw, Home Switcher and became interested in the different homes. Does anybody have a list of all the different (or at least any of the good) homes that I can use for Home switcher?
LauncherPro and ADW.Launcher are by far the 2 favorite 3rd party home replacements. Usually people find LauncherPro to be smoother and faster.
ADW all the way, it's the only one that tore me away from GDE which I'd used since I got my Moment
Have to say that launcherpro is my favourite of the two main ones. Its quite quick and you can customise it just the way you want it. Adw is nice though, just not as nice.

Launcherpro is definetly very nice, smooth and customisable, tried ADW out this morning not that nice to look at (though that's obviously am opinion that is likely to be different for everyone) but was nice and smooth. Both though were better that touchwiz that the galaxy runs normally - which wasn't all that bad to begin with.

LauncherPro FTW
I'm liking the adw themes implementation. The 2 apps just keep upping the ante, it's been a fun ride so far.
And I can just download these via Marketplace right?
yes you can download em from the market. I got launcher pro from there but im not too sure bout adw.
To get Adw launcher from the market you have to search ADW.Launcher with the period, no spaces
Launcher Pro.
Here's a video of what my Samsung Moment looks like with Launcher Pro (And some framework mods)
Ok.. low post count so no video =(
Check out youtube.com/androidhelpers
for those stuck in the stone ages using os 1.5 adw nor launcher pro work on anything but 2.1 i believe.
I found the best to be GDE with the Froyo theme... it works with 1.5

However, after trying most of these home apps, I decided to settle on ADW.Launcher. I very much like it's ability to increase number of rows and columns on home screen in order to place more widgets and shortcuts, and also I like its ability to scale widgets. Though I still wish that there was a launcher with features of both Launcher Pro and ADW.Launcher.
Also I think I will use Executive Assistant for my lock screen as it not only shows some useful info, but also allows to place widgets on it.
PS: Maybe later I will add short description of each app I tried. For now I've already spent too much time on linking each app to AndroLib.
Did you know an other "home switcher" witch work with froyo?
Check this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732583
I would like to like Executive assistant, but i dont get why it needs to configure the twitter/facebook/gmail accounts if there are already apps on the phone that sync them.
I don't really want to have the duplication ...

Hi, yeah LauncherPro and ADW.Launcher are both good. But personally I prefer ADW.Launcher.. it's really nice and easily accessible, very user-friendly.

Froyo changed the APIs so third party applications can no longer change the default home. It might be possible with root but I don't think anyone has done it yet.
I have a simple app on the market ClearDefaultHome that acts as a shortcut to the appropriate page where you need to click "Clear defaults", then you can hit the Home button and select your new home. Not as cool as HomeSwitcher but it's easier/faster than going through Settings > Applications > All > find the home program > Clear defaults
Everyone needs to try the new zeam its really good

3D Drawer Settings

Hi Guys.
I just rooted my Nexus S and installed CyanogenMod 7 (Stable). Everything is working fine but I have one possibly stupid question to ask.
Before when I had stock Android the app drawer had a 3D effect which is now gone. I have looked through both the Cyanogenmod settings and the ADW Launcher settings and I cant seem to find a way to enable it.
If someone could point me in the right direction I would be thankful.
Menu -> Settings -> ADW Launcher -> (I use ADW EX so it might appear different) UI Settings -> Drawer Settings -> App Drawer style
The ADW Launcher in CM7 is different from ADW EX and ADW Free on the market.
also launcher pro has the 3d app drawer effect, and its now working perfect on cyan 7. but to answer your question, cyan 7 comes wtih ADW lanucher, not the stock launcher. so ADW prob has to turn on that setting and it will work...or use launcher pro. or push the stock launcher back to your phone.
Thanks. I downloaded ADW Launcher EX from the Marketplace since that feature wasn't available in the Cyanogenmod version.
@ RogerPodacter
How would you go about pushing the stock launcher? As I also am running cm7 but want the stock launcher.
Thanks in advance.

get launcher2.apk and put it in /data/app or /system/app/ via adb / file manager
or find frank707's mod that removes adw and puts stock launcher, but you lose a lot of customization

[Q] Alternative Launcher

Hey all,
I have always been a fan of other home launchers like launcher pro and go launcher.
What i have noticed though is that they are not "tabled optimized".
With that i mean that you still have the dock like you have on your phone and the icons and widgets are much smaller.
Is there a way to get one of them working the same way as the default launcher?
I like the sizes and i don't need the dock, only thing i do want is the extra options which the alternative launchers provide and i do believe they are smoother than the default launcher.
Thanks!
Try ADWLauncher EX. It's tablet optimized, has a ton of options and the launcher bar can be hidden or not used if you want.

i often get that when i wake my TF that it laggs al little or needs to reload all the widgets and icons.
I want to see if this is due to the default launcher by using a different launcher.
But all the other launchers have smaller icons, have the dock, have other widget sizes, and the app list is ugly!
so far i tried LP, ADW, GO.
None have the same sizes as the default one, so i was wondering if this can be adjusted with some simple settings..
As far as I know you can't adgust the size of the icons on the dock. I also wanted to do this but was unable to. As for resizing all other icons, go into the ADWLauncher EX settings > Icons > New Icons Settings > Icon Size and you will be given a slider to adjust the icon sizes.
Most widgets can be resized using ADWLauncher EX. There are some that will not resize despite what you do.

Not the answer i was hoping for
so i guess i will have to wait until one of them makes a tablet version the wait i want it
or seem to find out why my launcher lags or needs to reload everything.
Maybe its prime.
I use desktop visualizer app to resize my icons. You can download PNG files from Google or Bing to create custom icons as well. Works well with adw ex. You can have your icon take up the whole screen if you really want to.

ADW EX has The ability to use larger icons. Its in asd settings/ui/icons. Then just check the box for the density hack. Makes the icons the same size as the asus launcher. ADW is what I use and it is a huge improvement over the stock launcher IMHO. For those looking to hide the dock and expand the desktop area it does that to. You just need to select that in the main dock settings, then in the new hidden dock settings disable that to and presto no more dock.

I personally like the hidden dock. I just swipe down and it goes away, swipe down again and it comes right back. Kind of like touchwiz mini apps.

With Folder Organizer app, you won't ever need to go to app list. Just add the container labels to the Home screen or notification area. App Organizer is an alternative from the same developer.

Having purchased SPB shell 3d for my phone, I've tried it on my Asus as well. Performance is OK but I don't like that you can see parts of the adjacent screens. Not running it right now on either phone or tablet.
After it's last update, I think ADW blows everything else out of the water. It's really nice.

What Launcher is everybody using?

I'm looking at getting either GoLauncher or Launcher Pro (but Ive seen alot of complaints about not alot of updates for this one). I want one that light, fast, customizable and functions well on this phone any suggestions?
Ive been using Launcher Pro and have had zero problems, easily customizable with some good themes. Have seen good reviews on both of them. Try both of them out yourself and see which one works best for you
Cool thanx should I download a program to manage them like HomeSwitcher or something?
Oh yeah and one other question is Launcher Pro premium worth the price or just the free is good enough?
To me premium is def worth the price. It gives you the option to be able to resize the widgets plus a few more option that you cant get with the free version.
Homeswitcher is def good in case you have a couple of launchers installed or just in case you want to go back to the stock home launcher.
been using adw ex
Every Android phone I have owned has had Go Launcher on it. Not sure why but its never gave me a single problem.
After researching it and taking opinions I went with Go Launcher. Thought I had a problem with it, but it turned out to be ME changing too many options up front. Who would have thought that?
I use Launcher Pro Plus (worthy investment)...I have tried Go Launcher and ADW EX, and both are good but Launcher pro seemed smoother to me. Also, since I already paid for LPP a while back I didn't want to not use it even though it wasn't that expensive.
I have installed:
ADWLauncher EX
Balancer
Launcher Pro(free one)
I use Launcher Pro the most. I had GO Launcher EX and Zeam, but uninstalled those. Launcher Pro is what I use the most. I have not played fully with ADW or Balancer. I do feel I like some of the features of Balancer (built in file manager, transparency when in app drawer).
I say download them all, play with them and use what you like.

Launcher Pro here. It has worked very well for me and I like customizable and scrollable dock.
I went with GoLanucher EX for now and I love it very smooth and has a theme for every piece of it I Have the GoContacts and GoSMS and both work great Ill try it out for a week or two and see how it goes thanks for all the feedback
I've been using Launcher Pro since I had my original Atrix. Never have any problems. I tried all the rest and like this one the most.
Go Launcher EX, the amount of customization is crazy! Very smooth too.

[Q] Best Home Launcher for Gingerbread???

i just want to find out what peoples opinions are on home launchers. i am currently using GO Launcher EX and i have enjoyed it and seen a lot of progress on their part. i used Launcher Pro for a bit but there was not much development and they had a "paid" version that didnt really give you more options.. witch i paid for btw. ADW is alright.. it seemed kind of dirty and choppy..
give your input please.
I like LaunchePro a lot, lacks developing, but still I'm find it very fluid, like no other... I would like to switch I'm getting bored of my theme and the lack of options it offers. I can use some advice too.
cheers.
I was a Launcher Pro Plus user for the longest time, until I tried Go Launcher EX. I haven't turned back since. Go Launcher is awesome! Tons of features, and it has some great animations. I love the gesture feature as well. Def worth checking out. It's 100% free.

I would say ADW EX is the best out there. Simply amazing smoothness, fluid animations, theming support and excellent customisation options.

I second ADW Ex, it's great. And since development (and any communication from the dev) has stopped, LauncherPro has been left in the dust while other launchers have been adding features.
I don't trust the Go team or any of their apps. No ads, free apps, and permission for everything... makes me wonder how they make money.
I've been using the stock MIUI launcher for a while now, but ADW Ex is definitely the way to go if you don't have that.
Launcher for SGS2
If u are using a Samsung galaxy S2, I am sure that you all would love 2 home replacement apps .. The first one is touchwiz launcher (available in market) and the other one is Nemus Launcher ..
Touchwiz launcher is so similar to your stock UI. BUT it has additional options of having upto 5 custom shortcuts on dock and can even hide app labels on dock. App browser has options of 3d and highlighting running apps. The rest of it is just as the stock launcher. Best part is that it runs high scores on quadrant standard on gingerbread original.. my highest was 3800..
Nemus launcher is little known launcher but is one of the smoothest and best on galaxy s2. The app drawer is the best with hide app option and an amazingly cool fade to black of unused apps while scrolling in app drawer. This launcher can have upto 5 customizable docks. It is low on resources. Excellent scores in quadrant standard as well...
Launcher 7 overall takes less ram and I think its rather fast and smooth than any other launcher I have tested even wen I underclock its still prety smooth

I would suggest Go launcher ex(has tons of features)
Go Launcher ex and ADW launcher ex are my favourites. Back when it was still being worked on by Mr.Carnales, launcher pro was beastly... but those days are gone :/
SS launcher is different.
I loved the fluid movement of TSF shell, took some time to get used to though.
go launcher and adw launcher are the best..
I like ADWLauncher Ex , because it has a nice interface .
Advantages:
Highly Customizable Home replacement application
5 different app drawer styles/behaviors
3D Nexus One like application drawer
2 different plain vertical drawer styles, the “old one” and a new fast and smooth one
2 different Iphone-like horizontal application drawers, a traditional paginated one and a new one with continuous fling
Different desktop transitions: new animations while navigating through your desktop screens. Try them all, they’re crazy!!!
New Icons configurations/look and feel: Tweak your desktop icons, change its sizes, add coloured backgrounds, change font size, color, etc!
New fast presets mode: Quickly change the whole desktop configuration by 1 click!
Editable desktop icons for applications, shortcuts and folders!
Lots of code improvements
Lots and more . That's why i love ADWLauncher Ex and i've been using it for like 1 year already . The launcher is kinda awesome though . I donated to the developer to support them .

TSF-Shell is nice and fast, especially with mobile that have limited resources such as SGS I (512 RAM), but if you're looking for real features you are definitely not pointing to TSF-Shell... Yet it ain't fair to compare Go Launcher EX and TSF-Shell as each launcher has his own specs + each user will use the launcher that best fits his needs, some needs a fast launcher and that would come over the features it will have, and others are looking for features despite some lag of performance...
