SMS signature - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't know if this has been asked before but how in the world do you add a signature to your sms?

The SMS system is more like a threaded chat. I don't think there is a way to add signature automatically.

That sucks and also why can't we compose MMS with audio files and such like we use to with WM? This double sucks. MS really took alot from us loyal users.

I understand your frustration. WP7 was made from scratch, which is why there were features left out. I think it was the same story with Android too.

Latest update was 1.6.0, what phone does he have?
If your co-worker has that version then shouldn't you be taking it off their phone and sharing with us?

What messaging program do you use?

I'm just curious what messaging program everyone uses?
I have used many of them and only one now has the functionality (that I have found) to deal with iPhone group text messages, Handcent 4.0. Once a week my family or friends will send out a group message and people with iPhones will all respond and it will come through as the same thread for people on the iPhones; however as an adroid user any responses will come back individually. This can get really annoying when there are 20 people responding and only 10 of them I have contact data for.
This problem has been reported to Google here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24468.
I love Handcent. I've been using it for quite some time now. It works great out-of-the-box so I've set it up on my parents' and grandparents' phones; additionally, it sports extensive customization options. Also, it can replace the default Android ringtone/notification selector, which is horrid.
I use ChompSMS. I got really used to BiteSMS on my old iPhone, and Chomp just feels right
ChompSMS here. No complaints. Tried gandcent but didn't think it was as good as chomp

After reading this post I installed handcent hoping if I sent a group text, the responses would arrive back in the same thread as the group text sent. Unfortunately handcent does not appear to be capable of that, unless there is an option I forgot to set.
Does anyone know of an SMS app which can support return texts for groups going back to the same thread, as opposed to separate responses coming back to multiple thread?
I love chomp and find that this is the only feature missing from it, which would make it otherwise perfect.

Menu>Settings> Application Settings
You have to set handcent at your default and then at the bottom of the settings there is a check box to "Thread group conversations"
Awesome. Thanks you.

Maybe I'm blind. i'm on Handcent 4.0.6, and I can't find that check box.
I've just been using stock.
I kept having a problem with handcent where it would tell me a message didn't send but it really did, so when I resent the message the receiver got it twice and I looked like a dufus.
Chomp has that ad at the bottom that is really annoying. I uninstalled for this reason. I would pay for the app if they would remove that damn add. So far I haven't figured out how to block it, the hosts method seems less and less effective lately.

[Q] Replacement email app (J butterfly)

I'm pretty new to android phones and moved from a softbank iPhone 4 to a J Butterfly on AU. It's awesome, as is the Aurora 1.02 rom I'm running on it (thanks IS03!) but there's one thing that really bugs me.... The AU email app is so basic it's not true! To give you an idea....
Notifications don't include any information other than an email has arrived
Clicking on the notification re-opens the app, not the email in question
So you then have to click on your inbox and the mail to see what's going on
Replying takes way more steps than it should (tap reply, tap body, type, click done, click send)
I've tried using the gmail and outlook apps and they're not bad at all as email apps, but lacking for chatting. I've tried some SMS apps that feature iPhone esque themes and they look good, but unfortunately SMS is basically unused in Japan - people can't reply to me. So after all that background, finally my question:
Is there simple, streamlined email client that works great for chatting?
Thanks for any and all advice!

Didn't seem like there's anything like that on au's end, I'd have found it by now as I share your frustrations.
Many people I know are using Line, though. I haven't really used the standard email app in quite a while.

[Discussion] Whatsapp vs BBM

What do you prefer whatsapp or bbm and whats you suggestions

Whatsapp have more users (everybody I know, already have whatsapp).
BBM is faster than whatsapp and give the posibility of send files, any file, not only pictures, videos or audio, even apk files. Its good.
Sorry for my english
I think both have their advantages. For example: the use bbm pin as user identity, but on whatsapp not, and just use the phone number.
But for BBM, their server is often down.
And it affect to message transfer speed is often slow in my opinion.
I've used them, wether BBM or Whatsapp.
And now I use Whatsapp as my messaging app.
For whatsapp, I never felt there was a delay in the transfer of messages. except if there is no mobile phone signal.
Now I'm curious. whether bbm on android os just like in they OS or not, we'll see later...
Sorry for my bad english

For one, most BB users installed and use Whatsapp
I used the "leaked" BBM for Android for a couple of hours. I prefer WhatsApp. I found Whatsapp much more speedier than BBM.
About BBM letting users send across files.... I dont think its going to happen in BBM for Android.
The only advantage I see about BBM is that you dont have to reveal your phone number to anyone to add you to their list.
The disadvantage I see is that the BBM pin is too complicated to remember
I dont like bbm because many app chat better than bbm..
I dont like whatsapp because privacy problem..
BBM vs WHATSAPP
BBM vs WhatsApp
BBM - Slow,Servers Often Down. But Private, in a sence that you dont need to give out personal info such as email addresses and cell numbers.
WhatsApp - Fast,Server Never down. Private,But need to give out personal details such as a cell phone number.
All in All it is what it is it all comes down to what the user prefers,Privacy over reliablity (Sorry for the english xD) In my personal opinion WhatsApp is Better.
Please Give tanks <3
Remember STiCKxaH Loves you <3
I think I am going to use both as in south Africa bbm is very popular

bbm may be history.
WhatsApp - Lack voice/talk feature
Viber is better
I disagree bbm has many nice features like the read thing and the speed at which you can transfer pictures as well as high quality images. Recent updates is also nice. My only issue is the 6mb file size limit which I hope they can do away with.

WhatsApp ftw
i don't like bbm simply because i never own a bb and never want to own one :silly:
WhatsApp & Line
Whatsapp because more people use it and it's great.

Whatsapp is best but i'll watch out for BBM too.
at times it's so disturbing to get those messages in the notification bar, still whatsapp all the way.. BBM suits on a BB device only

Whatsapp because almost everyone has it.
Whatsapp because it is great and BBM just to tease people who bought BlackBerry phones just for BBM
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
I shudder to think my company is in line to acquire BlackBerry. Bbm might just become our official mobile im client. I prefer whatsapp. Maybe if they add file transfer and introduce hiding last seen timestamp on android, that'll take it to another level.

may you can try CatFiz, like bbm, have read notification, but can transfer file up to 50MB and it will save in your catfiz account (you can manage, share link, or delete file anytime)

[Q] [App][Idea]New Messaging App

Hi everyone! I'm working a new Android messaging app, and to test my idea, I have a few questions for which I'd love to hear what you have to say.
Do you feel that you spend too much time on your messaging apps?
Are many of your conversations productive?
Would you like it if conversations were short and to the point? If so, with what kind of people would you want this (ie your friends, family, colleagues, etc...)?
Do you love the mute notifications feature on apps like Whatsapp?
I appreciate your time - feel free to PM me or reply on this thread. Thanks!
I would love you see a messaging and email app all in one. Like the same platform as the new Inbox. Its super smooth and convenient. If you could text too it would be perfect to me

Any extension would be cool. The size is limited to whatever your service provider is set to and I dont think there's any getting around that.
Split to another message and reassemble at the other end..
