Splash screen is the htc evo4g screen you see when you turn it on . You download the splash screen and rename it PC36IMG.zip and put it on the root of your SD card theb power down to the bootoader and accept the update and youll have the splash screen

im having trouble doing this. i get into hboot, but what do i do from there? i tried flashing but it aborts... is this for a sense rom?

in bootloader you dont do anything. when you go into bootloader it finds the PC36IMG and then it ask if you want to update press volume up for yes and when its done it ask if you want to reboot volume up for yes again
there's a ghost in my phone :0
i get into boot loader and it goes through the process but goes so fast i cant see what it says but last line says something about the image.

got it guys... i renamed the folder, case sensitive with what you have and left off the .zip and it recognized it fine. looks awesome

Ok so here it is. My first ever contribution to XDA!!! (after a year and a half of lurking)
Nexus S style Splash Screen for the EVO with colored Google logo.
How To Install:
- Download googlecolorPC36IMG.zip
- Copy to the root of your sdcard
- Rename the .zip PC36IMG (make sure it's all caps)
- Reboot phone into bootloader
- Select the first option "Bootloader"
- Your phone will then scan the PC36IMG and ask you if you want to update
- Press the volume up key to accept the update
- When it's done, press volume up to reboot the phone
- You're done!

Yes I'm pretty sure that you have to be rooted to flash a splash screen.

Yes, have to be rooted and be nand unlocked to flash a splash screen.
All we need now is a matching bootanimation.

From what I have read on many threads is that Sprint cannot deny you maintenance for hardware even if you are rooted.

Glad that you love it!
My guess is you extracted and copied the bootanimation.zip to the supposed location? If yes, then:
1. Make sure the file is named correctly (must same as the original file you are going to overwrite)
2. Setting the right permission

Try this and see if it works.

Hmmm, that's weird. Could it be because the file I used are .jpg instead of let me convert them to .png and see if it works.

To get the Stock android boot animation the easiest thing to do is delete the bootanimation.zip and reboot to your stock Android animation. Its embeded into the os. Ill have a video up soon of me doing in on my busted phone for proof

ok i tried deleting the file then recompress the file it get too large then tried flashing the .zip file it aborts installaion

It's not a compressed zip file. It's just storage. Then you'll have to copy it to system/customize/resource after you've renamed the one that's in there. (something like bootanimation.zip.old) Then hit paste and set permissions to match your old one. Reboot & check out your handiwork.

They do. But can also make a flashable zip for it too. I used to make splash screens back in the day with Samsung phones. Idk if I can with LG. But I will try and see if it works.

I'm having some issues trying to do this as bootsplash. I have the kernel decompiled with Android Kitchen, converted that picture as RLE format, paste it on the kernel and replaced with orignal, compiled, flashed and I get fastboot message and it wont boot. Maybe because of the resolution of that picture??
I'm kinda busy and doing it on the little free time I have. If somebody wanna join me and help that would be wonder...

My names Biggary, and I have been a member here for nearly eight years, so I thought I would give something back.....Some splash screens (The Picture that comes up when you boot up phone), To use these, you need to be S-OFF, and to be using a HTC One M8, to use, place the zip file in your internal/external SD card, boot into recovery (TWRP is what I use), and flash the zip file, when flashed, whenever you boot up next, the new screen will come up!!
SIMPLE EH?
Please note, the tool I use to create the splash screens, was not made by me.
Flashing these zip files is at your own risk, brick your phone, thats not my problem!!! Always back up!!!!
