I have the Samsung infuse 4G and have been using CatyRom since v1.0. I have flashed v2.0 on it yesterday and noticed that my ringer doesn't work. I then decided to try flashing dman's v2.1 ICS version...and just when I though how much better could 2.1 be...it definitely is an awesome ROM...but still no ringer. I get an exception error and need to Force Close when I am in Settings....Sound....Phone Ringtone. It states:
The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Tried over and over but it never works and produces the same error on Phone Ringtone and Notification Ringtone.
When I adjust the volume on the side of the phone, it makes a lower to louder sound as I go up with the Ringer Volume indicator, but never rings when I receive a phone call.
Any ideas?
No Issues here
I downloaded each and every release of Caty ROM and I never had this issue. only with 2.1 i had issue with email applicaiton, but when I reflashed with full wipe, every thing worked.. now no FC's.
Havent tried a full wipe...only dalvik cache and cache and fix permissions. Didnt want to have to redo everything but I guess I will have to try that. Thanks!

Just got back to my office and did a full wipe, dalvik cache, fix permissions...and ringer works now. Now, I just need to set everything back up.
Thanks again.

Long story short I needed a new ringtone for my phone because it was giving someone I live with a health problem. I was using the defaulted US Cellular chime.
So I downloaded some ringtones and put them on my phone via USB and my PC. I put them in the folder media/audio/notifications. Both were MP3 formats.
I go to change my ringtone in Settings/Sound Settings/Notification ringtone and I picked the MP3 from the folder. The sound was too loud so I change the volume in the Volume setting "Notification volume". And it sounds fine.
Now I go to set a new Voice Call ringtone - my phone vibrates a little bit, goes black for a few seconds, then vibrates twice and brings up an error message...
"The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I hit Force Close, and it takes me back to my app window page.
I go back to try and change it back, and now I get the same vibrations and error message when I try to open my Notification ringtone settings.
So now I can't change anything in those settings anymore, I get nothing but errors.
Things I've tried...
Fully rebooted. nothing.
Erasing the MP3s that "supposedly" caused this mess. nothing
I don't have my phone rooted or any crazy stuff like that, it's plain bare bones. This is the first time I've tried loading sounds on my phone, I've always used stock sounds that came with the phone.
Is there a way to fix this, do I need to go back to a stock format to fix it?
Worse possible time to get this to happen on a holiday weekend.
I would greatly appreciate any help that is needed to help with this issue. Thank you in advanced.
What version are u one. Ie ee19, ec10? Can find this is settings, about phone

I'd reccomend just using zedge or a program similar to find a more acceptable ringtone not that what you did shouldn't work. Also may want to either try going into settings, manage applications clearing the data in the system app you were using, or use the 3 button method to boot into recovery if all else fails and do a factory reset.

That was a issue with the ec10 build if I'm not mistaken. That's why I was curious. But I do agree. Zedge is freakin awesome.

Thanks so much for the Zedge app. I can't believe they had the ringtones, and notifications on there.
Now I don't have to factor reset my phone.
Thanks you very much!
I just finished running a backup and installing the Bali Kernel. The back up went good as well as installing the Bali Kernel. So all is running fine except for one small thing. I had a missed call just before running my back up. For some reason every time I reboot my phone, I keep getting a missed call notification. I clear it each time. But it just comes back on reboot. How can I get rid of this for good?
I had a problem like that except it was with both a missed call and a text notification. I deleted the history on both and they went away. If it persists beyond that, maybe you have to clear the cache and re-flash or something, but I wouldn't know.
Seems to be somewhat common but no fix to be found...
Using CM7.1
Was working perfectly for a month.
Seemed to happen out of no where, no new apps installed or settings changed. The phone will vibrate for incoming calls, haptic, everything except SMS.
Using GoSMS but it does the same with the stock messanging app. Vibration is turned on in all the system and messanging settings. In fact, when I test settings in GoSMS it reports "vibration on".
Tried clearing the dalvik cache and tried installing this app but it won't show anywhere in the app drawer and I can't find it anywhere on the phone despite the market saying its installed. Unfortunate becasue it seems this app was designed for this very issue with desire/insprire.
Anyone have a fix for this or a method I could get the above app to install properly?
Thanks.
edit.....It's looking like an app issue......
never mind on the rom repair part....sorry
mods can delete....g
Gregsarg was actually probably right the first time. It doesn't seem to be an APP issue (as all MMS apps have the same lack of vibrate), but a broader issue.
His suggestion to install CM7 on top of itself is likely the simplest attempt at solution since you haven't found a specific solution through your searches.
I also tried the GoodVibrations.apk and it only shows in airdroid, mybackup, and managing all apps... It doesn't even have the 'open' command on the market menu after installing it >.>

Thanks. Unfortunately I didn't see this suggestion before it was edited out. What exactly is meant by install CM7 on top of itself? Through clockwork I presume?
Yeah, just flash the SAME rom again (after backing up AND without wiping anything), and your settings should stay in place.
There is also a setting in the stock CM sms app that controls vibration, which is turned off by default.
Yeah vibrate in the stock SMS program is on. While I haven't gotten around to reflashing just yet I have noticed a few other things that lead me to believe its a ROM issue. Sometimes when I put the phone on silent it turns off all system vibrations even after coming off silent. I have to go back in and turn vibration back on. This is intermittent. Also, out of the blue the phone started vibrating during calls, come to find out "vibrate every 45 seconds during outgoing calls" was magically turned on.
It WILL vibrate when an SMS arrives if I'm on a call. Swell.
Flashed the new 7.2 nightly and the problem still exists. Everything remained intact after the flash so I figure I'll just do a full wipe/factory reset and flash the new nightly again and start over. Hopefully whatever caused this won't carry over with titanium restoring apps.
Do the full wipe, install the rom... then get a friend to send you text messages BEFORE you restore from Titanium, and then after....
Easy to isolate if you're carrying the issue from ROM to ROM.
Had the same issue, could find no fix. Used vibrate tools from the market and no issues for a week or so now..

That did it thanks! Saved me from having to do a full wipe. Phone is back to vibrating with SMS and I can change the vibration pattern. Nice.
Cool, glad it worked for you. I really wish I knew what happened though, it's kind of bugging me.
Meh, technology..

Well I'll add this... Out of curiosity I removed the vibrate tools app and everything is still operating as designed. So whatever that app turned on has stuck.
So I flashed in the CM10 rom. Did the usual wipe clean, wipe cache stuff. Everything works great. However it doesn't ring despite showing someone is calling even if I set it up to super loud.
It does vibrate under that mode.
Help?
Phone ring and email notification tones are not played

I have the same situation. I have done the above procedure (wipe data/factory, clean cache, wipe delvik, even format /system before flashing, and set permissions) 7~8 times, using different Nightly and gapps with no difference.
I've used CM10 nightly cm-10-20120818-NIGHTLY-captivatemtd.zip, cm-10-20120820-NIGHTLY-captivatemtd.zip, cm-10-20120821-NIGHTLY-captivatemtd.zip and gapps-jb-20120724-signed.zip, gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip, gapps-jb-20120813-signed.zip.
Also, it has been reported other places, Voice Search gets stuck on "Initialization" OR it says "Didn't catch that. Try speaking again. Retry"

RESOLVED - Changed the profile from Home to default (Settings-Personal-Profiles) fixed the problem. I turned the Profiles Off to not mess with it again!
NOT RESOLVED - Voice Search Issue!

Update:
I've been having this problem for about a month now, ever since rooting and flashing my Galaxy SIII i747. I'd tried several roms, no help. After finally finding this, I got the issue fixed (for which I thank you very much by the way), but it got me thinking. After a few minutes of digging, I found the issue:
- When using profiles, you need to set the ringtone at the profile level, as it has no default. IE, just set:
Settings->Profiles->[profile in question]->Phone->Phone ringtone / Notification tone
Extremely annoying, but hopefully this helps. Thanks again for the push in the right direction!

I've got a Samsung Infuse 4G, originally Rogers now on Telus. It's been running ParanoidAndroid 2.53 from scott.hart.bti (build pa_infuse4g-userdebug 4.1.2 JO54K eng.scott.20121104.152548 test-keys) nearly flawlessly for a few weeks. I've installed a few apps (facebook, twitter, wikipedia, imdb, accuweather, etc.) but none recently.
Today, I answered a phone call from my brother, and when I took the phone away from my ear to hang up, it stayed black. I heard the disconnect sound, then it pretty much froze. I powered off to the Power Reset / Debug Mode screen, then rebooted. When it came back on, I'd lost a bunch of my settings, but not all. I currently have been unable to get back my full menu when I long-press the power button - it only has power off and reboot, no airplane mode, no volume, no profile choice (yes, I have configured these options in the settings). Further, my notifications work (ie, sound and vibrate), but the notification icon does not appear.
Anyone have any ideas what I should try? I could reflash and start over, but I'd rather not if I don't have to.
Thanks in advance.
Can anyone comment on whether or not this make be a problem with Trebuchet? Are the problems I mentioned the domain of the launcher, or is it something else? If these things are controlled by the launcher, am I able to reinstall / reset it to possibly fix the problem?
It sounds more like a SystemUI problem than a launcher problem. You can reflash the ROM without losing any data or settings by formatting just the cache partition and /system and also clearing dalvik cache. That will reinstall the ROM without data loss but if the problem persists I recommend a full and complete wipe and reflash.
If you believe it to be a trebucket problem though then download a free launcher replacement like Holo launcher from the store and see if that fixes your problems.
