I flashed the gb starters pack evrything looked good until linda said something about system repartition and cant flash roms on cwm it says system repartition

Did you partition sd card properly?

If formated it I dont know if thats the same thing

no its not the same thing. format it. then go to cwm. partition the sd card from the advanced menu with 2048/0. then put the files on it. then try again.

Formatting is not the same. Parition it to 2048. To do this get into cwm advanced>partition sd card>2048
Let it do it's thing then linda should convert for you.
Damn jager you type fast

Ok tried it now it says go to /tmp/recovery.log for more info

I thought that was made in windows when you formatted the card. If I didn't do that with my starter pack should I make a backup of my SD and then format card in cwm? All is working well with octane, but would this make it better?

Do you have a physical sd card in the phone. The backups made in CWM are made to the 'external sd card' which is a micro-sd card you insert into your phone. If you are just using the internal memory I believe the backup will fail as it is looking for an actual sd card. Sounds like you are using ROM manager also. Probably the same reason it cannot download any other recoveries. But you should only flash a recovery with NVFlash. ROM manager does not install recovery to the actual recovery partition and does what people here call a 'fake flash' and is storing the recovery image elsewhere on the phone and tricking the phone to boot into it by having recovery apply an update.zip at boot. Use real recovery not fake RM recovery.
I figured it out, its just that my SD card went bad it wont even let me format it again. I pit a new SD in there and its working just right. Any one have any tips on the SD card card dying?

Is it a cheap Chinese SD card? If so just break it in half and throw it away. If a good card try deleting the partition, create a new partition, make it active and try to format it. There are also freeware apps you can download to try and repair sd cards. if that fails toss it, its life is over. :-( Not worth risking your device on a bad card. I had a cheap Chinese chard in a BlackBerry and the BlackBerry kept running erratically and rebotting, etc. It turned out to be the sd card causing all the problems. Once I put a new one in the BB worked with no problems again.

Did you wipe data? Also if it doesn't work, sear h around for a zerofill.tar to flash, then flash a rom over it.

do you no where i can download it?
i already found it an read good stuff of it thanks for the help
use your sd card for more space
zerofill tar sounds to me like:
writing lots of "0" to the internal sd?
-> equal to a format of /system?
-> system is gone, mobile doesnt boot
-> all data lost?
Checked the features of kyorarom and what do I see...
Hybrid Data2SD and SD card swap
Why dont you use that feature?
Ah... I see... you didnt create an ext4 partition?
Thsi partition is needed for the feature above!
how to:
Create an ext4 partition via CWM
using this feature will move all user apps to sd card
have a fast card on your side and make a backup of your sd card data
-> all data will be lost on sd card when you repartition your card!!!!!
I think u r facing 0.0kb internal memory bug... if so flash with data.rfs
If not, go to recovery, wipe dalvik cache... format sd ext.. mount data... and mount sd ext

The sdcard works fine i can see all my stuff when i have it in my phone but i wil try that empty my sdcard and i will make backup from it to my pc i hope this works
oh... a second please...
I remember something right now...
In my very early days (ECLAIR flashing) I remember that someone had also space 0.0 MB
And afaik the solution was to flash the CSC file (?) or something like that again...
That was the reason in these days why I flashed all (!) firmware versions from
xxjg7 to xxjk1
well... in froyo days...
I know that this posting is not very helpful, but you might find something similar with these hints in the net...
Hope this helps forward
Flashing zero fill should solve to 0.0kb problem, it formats everything on your phone, then flash a rom over it. If doesn't work, backup your SD card and format your sd ext and your whole SD card.
Cheers

My ROM does not have a format button in the settings, is there another way to format the internal SD space within Android itself?

Quite possibly, kinda. Are you rooted? If so, what recovery are you using? Most recoveries allow you to do this.
Why do u need to format within android? Why not just format from your pc?

this is correct, or as an alternative u could either a) hook it up to a computer, mount it and format, or b) use adb, but I recommend either a or the method gs2usr suggested
im gonna post in this thread instead of making a new one since im having a similar issue.
In CW recovery it'll tell me it cant mount my sd-ext and as well give me an error when trying to install a custom rom from my emmc, so do i need to do a format of both of those in order to get a custom rom to finally install again?
i've had this error ever since i switched back to rogers stock 4.0.4 to try it out
I'm getting errors in cwm too. How can I do it in ADB? Macs don't do fat32 correctly and I don't have a Windows machine.

Figured it out. Please try this and see if it fixes your internal aswell.
So go ahead if you don't have it, ADB install a copy of Root Explorer.
Go into the emmc folder and give it read and write permissions.
Now, in the settings, under storage, it should let you reformat the disk again and you should be okay.
I have no idea what's up with CWR, but we were told not to use it anymore on our Kindles due to it messing with partitions. But this is how I just fixed my Skyrocket, just in time for the fireworks tonight.
when in cwm, mount the emmc first

Stuck during root (can't see SuperSU.zip)

So...I've been following Shabby's thread in the dev forum, but can't post there yet due to being new. Everything works fine to the point where he says to flash the SuperSU zip from recovery.
Basically, there's nothing seen on the SD card in recovery mode. I've verified the file is there from the Terminal in normal mode, and the permissions are a mix of 777 and 755 in there. Only the DCIM and bug2go directories appear in recovery. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. I am a happy lady with this phone but want to finish the root job!

Wow, I was not expecting you to answer personally
Er...it's a 16GB microSD card i purchased and put into the SD slot. I suppose that makes it external...? At any rate I know the recovery flash is looking at it because I see the same directory structure in Android's terminal at /sdcard/, just almost nothing in it shows up in recovery.

I think there is a selection somewhere that you can tell it what to see as the SDCard, internal or external. Read it somewhere. Or maybe that doesn't apply here, just trying to help
If you downloaded it with your phone it is saved in a folder on the internal storage, use the files app to copy it to external 1, which is ur sd card. Cwm doesn't see internal storage, everything is saved to and pulled from the sd card when in recovery.

It's probably my only real complaint about this phone. Internal storage showing up as /sdcard is just stupid, but I understand why they did it.
I hit this bug while rooting mom's phone. I grabbed the microSD from my tablet and it worked great

whoa what?!
a factory reset wipes out internal storage?
does it do it on stock or just cwm?
and yes i need to know a bit more info if it is /data/media as its home
Haven't done a stock reset yet, workin on figuring out how to. Confirm wipe data/ factory reset in cwm wipes the internal sd.
There is a shortcut in the root of system dir, as well as in /mnt, to sd card (internal). Both have the sd icon next to them, data/media location shows as a folder. Idk what all you want on this, lemme know what I can get for you. I will figure out how to stock reset to confirm.

Heimdall or Odin install stock UCLB3 GB, or stock froyo..
Then format sd cards from Settings, then factory reset from Settings.
Optional... Connect phone to PC,mount drives and use a data wipe utility on both sd cards...

My personal choice is to format both SD cards on the computer.Takes a couple of minutes, but if using Windows uncheck the quick format option, after that in recovery go to mounts and storage and format cache, data, system and boot
Go here and get qksters clean wipes. I flash this before every flash and rarely have bad flashes or bugs related to dirty flashes

Or, from recovery you can format system, wipe caches, and clear data/factory reset. Then flash the ROM.
Either way, DO NOT format or erase your sdcards. Make sure your ROM install zip is copied to your internal sdcard before the steps above.

The clean wipes wont touch your sd cards internal or external. It will only delete ur current rom and such so make sure you have a cwm flashable rom in ur internal or external sd card before flashing clean wipes or that u can odin back to stock. I would reccoment a nandroid backup before doing anything.....like always
