[Q] How to take screenshots on HTC Desire S? - HTC Desire S

I've an unrooted HTC Desire S, running on HTC Sense 2.1 & Android 2.3.3. I've tried using Android SDK & MyPhoneExplorer, but for sdk, when i opened the file i'm required to (i've seen loads of tutorials), my phone is not listed there. For MyPhoneExplorer, my phone could be sensed but there's no Load Screenshot button. I've no intention of rooting in case something happens. Any advice?
P.S./ I can't download paid apps so don't direct me to No Root Screenshot It..
Thanks!

Have you try THIS?
Hint: This was the first result when searching on Google for "android screenshot app". Have you tried to do that before asking? (no sarcasm)

I'm curious, I know it's not what you have asked here, but why just root your phone? Then there will be plenty of free screenshots apps out there,

If its a work phone it isn't allowed to be tampered with, or maybe he just doesn't want to void his warranty ;-).

Hi,
Did you hit the power button and the home screen button at the same time?
If you're on stock, and you received the 2.3.4 update a month ago, you should be able to take a screenshot by pushing power and home at the same time (or, rather, by holding the Power button and tapping Home). The screenshot should be saved in your camera gallery.
I know this does not work for the Revolution ROM, but IIRC it did work right when I was still on stock.

Lol. Ya idk what htc was thinking -.- ... it drove me crazy on cm7 now so i dont have to worry about that issue anymore
It works in Revolution HD ROM, to get it to work use ES File explorer and edit screencapture to = true , it is false by default. It should work after. For stock ROM like the previous post said it comes with the 2.3.4 update.

[Q&A] [ROM][PORT]Sensation_ROM_Infuse_v1.0[XXJVQ]A rom from another galaxy!

This thread is for Q&A on the Sensation rom for the Infuse 4G.....
Hi. I downloaded your ROM today. I restored my missing apps via Titanium. All the apps are haphazardly placed on the phone, i.e., not in alphabetical order, app pages with blank spaces. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.
When I try out this ROM, everything looked great. Does anyone have PIN or password lock working with this ROM??? When I tried it, it didn't (as with any other custom ROMs).
Thanks,
I haven't tested the backup w TB since I use cwm to back up so I will have to check on your issue with that this afternoon...thanks foe the info.. and the pin should work...working fine on mine...what lockscreen settings areyou using?

Are you talking about Kies Air? That's available from "Samsung App" in Rogers Infuse. APK can be extracted using TB.

My Installed Apps cannot be found
Hi,
I have installed your ROM and it went smooth enough, so i installed root explorer and opera mini as my first apps, after that, I powered the phone off and then to my surprise, my new APPS + Market are grayed out and cannot be found.
Does anyone experienced this? Hoping for a reply. Thanks!
Update: I tried to re-flash everything again and it worked. The only thing now is the cam with SGS2 mod, it gets like stripes of cream at the viewfinder. I don't think that's normal.

I tried again with Sensation v2 and DlevROM. I still don't get the PIN/password lock to work.
Just installed this ROM, apparently Market will only find cached pages, if I look for something new I get the 'no connection error'. Am I doing something wrong?
No..that is a froyo kernel. You have to use a GB kernel with this rom....this is a GB rom

You have to be rooted to do this.
open your build.prop file (in system) and look for..
ro.product.model=(Insert new device name here) -- I found this entry twice on my Sensation (ARHD 4.1.7)
ro.product.manufacture=(insert the manufacture's name)
If you choose a phone model compatible with the app then you should be able to download it.
Make sure you make a nandroid back up!

Use Root Explorer (Easiest), Terminal (with VI, only if you know VI though), Notepad++ (on a PC)..
Keep looking, it should be there somewhere.
And I used ES note editor

Thanks, I was able to make the changes and save it, but I'm not sure if it worked. I could not see We Rule in Android Market.
However...on Market when I go on it with my computer, it says "this app is not compatible with your TMobile Samsung Nexus S"
So you can download it?

No, I cannot download it. Not sure why b/c I was able to when I did have a Nexus S. On a side note, before the market was more developed, I was able to download We Rule from teh market but after signing in and loading, I would get a message saying the game was incompatible with my phone. I'm wondering if it's because we do not have a device w/ Tegra 2?

Did it say why it was incompatible? you need to press the small + icon when you are browsing the market on your computer.
"We Rule is currently not available on your device. We're working hard to make the game accessible to everyone. Please check back soon, and try other Mobage games in the meantime."
The + button says "T-Mobile HTC HTC Sensation 4G
This item is not compatible with your device."
Bummer.
We Rule was updated today and still does not work for the HTC Sensation.

gingerbread rom for samsung mini gt-s5570

Hi,
My daughter has one of these phones running 2.2.1 - she is having problems with bluetooth freezing, and I wondered if she can upgrade to gingerbread (it might help).
Does anyone know where to find some roms which will work on a NZ phone?
I see roms for just about every other country in sam firmware dot com - can I use one of them?
Cheers,
Ian.
Apparently, there is no New Zealand specific model. Check this page.

just be sure of the correct model of your phone for example i bought my tablet from auckland but i got a imported tablet so just be sure man
yea about that... it doesnt really matter as long as the rom is coded for the hardware that is in your device such as my galaxy tablet and mini they both are running uk roms
yea i have also hard bricked my mini and then bought it back to life so gl
so bro go for gold
failed installation
So I tried installing this on a friends galaxy mini in NZ but the recovery said it couldnt mount the data or internal.. even when doing a factory reset. Any ideas? Im thinking the sd card needs to be formated to FAT, that might be the problem. Does anyone know where I could find a better recovery and how to install it? Sorry for all the questions..

[Q] Help installing custom or stock rom.

So here's the story so far.
I have unlocked the boot loader. I have CMW installed. I can't seem to install a custom rom, and everytime I try, it hangs up on the htc screen forever.
Phone shows s-on. Is that a problem? Current rom doesn't appear to be working properly. Super user is installed but wifi doesn't work.
Any clues?
Thanks!
Since you are S-ON you need to extract the boot.img from the ROM zip and "fastboot flash boot.img" from your computer.
Interesting. And this applies to any custom rom? What I'm getting to is, should I do this instead of the rom provided instructions?

Thanks. Will post results later.

Hey man, I'm new to htc...I've seen so many different ways to root this thing but I'm somewhat lost...which method worked for you ? Ya think you could point me in the right direction....so far I've seen bubby one click gui, that hack kit...I'm on 2.3.3, I'm not sure what kind of RUU it has all I do know is I'm feeling really ignorant about now

Currently there are 2 methods: unlocking the bootloader and AAHK. Both are explained in the guide in the Ace Think Tank thread in DHD General forums.
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1824379.
EDIT 2: note that the Desire HD and the Inspire 4G are essentially the same phone. You will see more development (ICS and JB) on the DHD forums. So you can use the ROMs and unlock methods from there. Just be careful with radios.
Jesus Christ, that's a ****load of info thrown at me....but thank you....one small question...I have a sdcard that doesn't seem to work with any phone or my ps3...I'm guessing its because its the wrong format....
It's a class 4 16gb micro SD hc card....do you know how I could make it compatible with this phone and my ps3 (alittle off topic)

Do NOT attempt to downgrade a Inspire or DHD shipped with Gingerbread with a Froyo RUU
This is what I don't understand...how do I know what RUU I have...I have a software version under 3.06....

Regarding your card, can you hook it up (through an adapted, if necessary) to your PC? If so, use a format tool for it (such as SDFormatter) and give it a proper format and resize (again, if necessary).
Fat32 that ***** up!
I just wanted to make sure I fully understood every instruction b4 I ended up bricking this device....I should be good to go...I'm going to format my card tomorrow with my gf's computer than use that hack kit thing and get this thing rooted....that ace think tank thread is packed full of information though..I'm quite surprised though because over in LG forums, tutorials aren't that advanced....I still don't have a full grasp on s off and bootloaders and all of that but by the looks of that hack kit it seems to take care of all that...all I wanted for now was to get it rooted so I can flash an ICS rom and get all of this bloatware removed...one thing I haven't seen though is a list of items I can safely delete....
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
I was looking through your profile and realized I hadn't responded to this.
I remove:
Apollo.apk
CMFileManager.apk
CMFileManagerThemes.apk
CMUpdater.apk
CMWallpapers.apk
Email2.apk
Exchange2.apk
Galaxy4.apk
GenieWidget.apk
MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk
NoiseField.apk
PhaseBeam.apk
Talkback.apk
Term.apk
VisualizationWallpapers.apk
I have also removed Calendar.apk and Gmail2.apk to replace them with ones from the Play Store (so I can back up their settings in TiBu) but I haven't lately. The list is up to you; that's just what I do. And if you flash a lot of ROMs you could make a flashable zip to customize it exactly how you want it more easily every time; for example, in addition to deleting stuff, mine also add a build.prop DPI change and some other small things I do every time I flash a new ROM.
Quick question...
I can't seem to get this phone to show S-OFF. Is it possible? I mean I do have SU installed and such, obviously CWM so what am I missing here?
You need to use AAHK. Check the guide in my signature.
Interesting. Is it best, perhaps, if I begin from scratch? I mean, can I go back to stock first?
