[Q] Locked apps in home screen! - Samsung Infuse 4G

There are 4 apps locked in the infuse 4g (Phone, email, web, applications). Even when you move to another screen the wont move! They are located at the bottom of the screen. How in the world can I delete add/exchange those apps for other apps? Thanks guys!

you can go to app menu screen and edit.
however, better to go to market and download "go launcher ex"
much more intuitive customizable screen n icons

Thanks brother, it was really helpful.

That's called the dock bar. Those will always be there unless (correct me if I'm wrong, havnt been on a stock launcher in awhile) long press the icon and trash it then replace if you want something different. Otherwise get a different launcher and you will be able to do so

The only way to add/edit/delete those "frozen four" icons at the bottom is by doing what you said before and clicking on Applications > menu button > customizable grid > drag the ones you want down to the bottom > menu button > save > menu button > alphabetical grid.
Not that I've done that before.

[[Idea]]Notification bar Multi tasking((Picture))

So i have been working on something for awhile it started on paper and Made an example in Photoshop. the Idea is you open the notification bar and you swipe left and right to move through open applications and swipe up to end them Check out attachment.
PS: I am not a programmer so I cant make this happen I just thought of it..
BTW: can you control applications from the notification bar?? if not then this is worthless...
That would be really, really good. And I like your mock-up concept as well.
Sort of like the new Dolphin HD tab browser.
You should suggest this to one of the Launcher devs.
good..because the notification bar is always on top..will be great for multitasking.
That's why I tried to do in TaskOS ( free on the Market.)
I do not use the notification bar, but a long press on the search button ( if your device doesn't have one, in the settings you can choose camera button and will try to add more)
The screenshot should be working in some custom realease of CyanogenMod..

Putting something like this in place of long pressing the home button would be the best way I would think.
I like the idea *!*!
possible? Maybe. I think of the interaction of seepu+ as an interaction example, but I don't even wasn't to think about the memory that would suck up.
Do you plan on having all the apps in memory up there? Cause that's gonnna be alot of swiping to find what you need.
Also you already have the hold down home button. That's accessible even with the notification bar hidden (various browsers, apps hide the not. bar).
I really don't get the desire to have thumbnails on handhelds for what the activity is doing. 1) they will always bee too small to use by glancin 2) you know what your switching to, before you even bring up the recent apps function. 3) There is very little "visual" activities done on a phone that warrant a "preview" in order to choose which you want to pick.
All of you could also try Power Strip and Quick Desk for great multitasking usage with the search and homescreen buttons
ITS a CONCEPT not going to happen by me...
yes, multitaslk view is more important
i like your idea of thumbnail view of each programs running in the background. it allows us to look through all running programs, instead of small icons
If it is possible, it can be shown either using the search or home button
Good concept, but I'd be thinking of using the icon of the software instead of screen preview. Better for privacy...

its a great freakin concept. a great developer should take a look at this. i would no doubt pay for this
yes I think this is the ****! we don't need the system programs that are running, just the user programs...

The system can't differentiate between what programs the user launched and which were launched into memory automatically.

Well, it can eliminate system programs, and widgets, and programs with no launcher icon, and services, and...
so Anyone interested in making my concept a reality??

Send a message to arctu, the genius creator of HelixLauncher and QuickDesk...
What is your problem with the apps that we send you? They do exactly what you want exept they are not in task bar ( because we cannot "draw" into the taskbar)
TaskOS
Power Strip
Quick desk
The "screenshot" will be available in some custom ROMS:

[Q] How to prevent home screen icons from moving accidentally (lock icons in place)?)

I keep moving my home screen icons (widgets) accidentally, like when I try to pull down the notification bar.
Would someone know of an app or setting that locks the icons once one configures the screens?
Thank you.
Not sure of an app that does it but I'm running the Ultimate Droid ROM and it has a "lock desktop" option when you pull up the menu. It does exactly what you are looking for.
CM7 also has this option.

Guess time to change rom
On Revolution HD 4.0B all I see when click on menu are: all apps, notifications, personalize, wallpaper, ringtones, settings. And submenu on either has nothing on "locking".
Probably time to change, any suggestions for use on ATT?
Thanks

just for clarity's sake - when you post a thread and ask a question, PLEASE let us knwo which rom you're using. it's different between launchers/UI's (ie sense, ADW, stock).
in sense, i don't know of an option to do this, however there is one in CM7 i think (which uses ADW)
You can tell I'm new , thanks.
I'm using Sense 2.1 built in the ROM.
I haven't found an option like this in my Sense ROM (TPC Optimized atm, looking at ClearDroid). If I see anything I'll pass it along - this could be helpful too for when my 4-year-old accidentally closes Angry Birds and starts looking around on my phone.
I need to lock the icons

Hello,, i have the same situation... Any suggestion ?

T mobile SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 SGH-M919 rooted droid 4.2.2

Eclipse 1.3.1(TW 4.0) questions and comments.

edit: Problems have been solved, I am now officially in love with this ROM. Thanks to everyone who commented!
First off I'd just like to say Eclipse is fantastic. I'm sorry for leaving you Humble but TW4 is just simply magnificent! However, there are a few gripes I have that I would really appreciate some help on.
First: At the bottom of the screen there are the 4 preset application shortcuts(Phone, Contacts, Messaging, Applications) and I would really like to change Phone and Messaging to other applications(RocketDial & HandcentSMS) otherwise they are just going to waste. On Humble I could click Browser(for example) and it would ask if I wanted to open it with Dolphin HD or Browser, I would select Dolphin and choose that to be the default, and it was done. No such option exists on TW4(Eclipse) as far as I know.
Second: The app drawer on Humble used to be alphabetical and now it's just sorted by date, it was really convenient having it in alphabetical order so I could find apps very easily but that option too seems to be gone. Would really appreciate help and will distribute thanks where they are needed :]
not sure how TW4 is working, but I know on my MT4G running if you go to personalize and lock screen, you can pick which application runs by holding down the shortcuts and picking a new one.
I'll research this somemore and look it up for you
Really appreciate it Dragon, I looked it up and it said to hit the Menu button and click Edit Page, all that does is open up all my home pages. I figured the option to change the glued shortcuts wasn't working but I'm asking because I hope someone here who is also running Eclipse 1.3.1 has figured out a way to change it.
Im pretty sure u pull up your apps and then click the edit button up top and then u can change them.
Download appzorter on the market for the alphabatizing

Close, but it's not the edit button on the top of the page: first open the app drawer, then hit the phone's physical menu button and select Edit. From there you'll see highlights and a - button around each icon and you'll be able to pull apps from the drawer onto the shortcut bar (not vice versa, though, just pull them down and it'll replace what's there).
As far as alphabetizing goes, there are apps like appzorter that will help but just be aware it still won't be true automatic alphabetizing -- you have to manually run the sorting app each time you install something new to have it sorted. The only permanent solution is to switch to another launcher entirely.
Thank you everyone! I've now got an alphabetical app drawer, glued Contacts, Dolphin, Handcent(unfortunately not the widget, which shows a how many new messages you have) and the applications drawer. You've made this the perfect ROM :]
You can decompile the tw launcher and navigate to res/xml/default_topappilcation.xml and change the value to correspond with the apps you want.
Code:
xmlns:launcher="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/com.sec.android.app.twlauncher">
<topapp launcher:className="com.sec.android.app.dialertab.DialerTabActivity" launcher:packageName="com.sec.android.app.dialertab" />
<topapp launcher:className="com.sec.android.app.contacts.PhoneBookTopMenuActivity" launcher:packageName="com.android.contacts" />
<topapp launcher:className="com.android.mms.ui.ConversationList" launcher:packageName="com.android.mms" />
</topapps>

No CONTINUOUS / INFINITE SCROLL on home screen or app drawer...WHY???

I can't understand why Samsung has chosen to leave this feature out of the S6 & S7 when it was on the S5. It makes no sense for me to have to scroll over several pages to go from the "A" apps to get to the "Z" apps or to scroll several home pages to get to the one I want when continuous scroll would be such a simple feature to include in TouchWiz.
Samsung please get this right on a future update!

It's probably just hidden. If you could upload the apk with framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk I could take a look.

Agreed! If they consider this a way to reduce bloatware, it's a mistake.
They take it away so they can brag about it when they include on next model.
App Drawer and continuous scroll
I am using Android 7 on an LG V20 and when I updated the phone from 6 to 7 the same thing happened.
This what I did to correct the problem. Android 7 defaults to Home rather than Home and App Drawer.
The following steps will reset the home screens to what apps where on them when the phone was setup.
It will not delete any data, pictures or apps you have installed. when finished you just need to add your apps back to your screens via the app drawer. (The white button with 6 dots at he bottom of screen)
Home does not have continuous scroll or the App Drawer. To change back to Home and App Drawer do this.
1. Choose Settings.
2. Choose the General tab.
3. Choose Apps
4. Choose the menu (3 stacked dots in upper right corner)
5. Choose Configure apps.
6. Select Home and change default to Home and App Drawer.
That should do it
Soo many people making such intricate and useless apps in the world, yet nobody makes a workaround to this or other features that samsung has ripped away from people and if they did its impossible to find, and instead we will have people saying that its a good thing this and other very useful features are removed and any new update is a good thing. After reading such worthless and useless comments by people all the time when trying to diagnose very simple issues, I know that If i was a major company I would also **** over the consumers knowing how stupid they are because 98% are ****ing worthless and actually clueless its sickening.

need help please

Not sure how to explain, but I hade a Note 2,3,4, now I have this Pure XL, I just rooted, and I love it, but..
-I used to do when you slide your finger from the top to down with a samsung than all those "quick settings" options are like wifi, mute, location, airplane mode etc.
So is it a way to do this with the Pure XL?
-My other big deal is with Samsung you can access to the apps , but on the screens has only few , what you put there. With the Blu all apps are on the front pages...
-The last one, how can I use 5 instead of 4 Touchwiz apps?
Thank you!

You can do this by sliding your finger up from the bottom of the screen. It's an iOS control center copy

Do you mean you want to have an app drawer and/or have the ability to put more than 4 apps at the bottom of your home screen?
If so, then you'll want to take a look at 3rd party "launchers" such as Google Now, Nova, Action Launcher 3, etc.. I personally don't use any of them, so I'm not sure if you can have more than 4 apps AND have the app drawer button together at the bottom of your screen.
