[Q] Cant access my contacts on my Droid X - General Questions and Answers

So im new to root and to smart phones in general. My bf talked to me about root awhile ago and a couple weeks ago i rooted it. One of the apps that i downloaded was the Titanium, before i got pro so that i could freeze apps i got delete happy not knowing that some of your system apps are linked to one another. When i tap on my contacts widget it will open so i can scroll thru all of them but when i try to open a contact the app force closes and brings me back to my home screen. Does anyone know what system app is linked to my contacts?

[Q] How to backup/sync apps my Inspire?

If I am moving to another android phone how do I back up/transfer all the data and apps? One of my friend has Atrix and we both were planning to switch phones for some time to see which one we really like.
Is there something like iTunes where I can sync up all my apps? I am not much worried about data (songs, photos etc.,) but I bought a bunch of apps which I would like to transfer them from phone to phone.
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. Can you please help me find where "google sync" is located on my phone? When I go to Menu->Accounts&Sync->Google, there is only option to sync my books, contacts, gmail and calender.
I am very new to Android so sorry if I sound naive.

If I remember correctly as long as you log into your google account it should sync all your apps that you've bought or downloaded from Market. I could be wrong, if so some one please correct me.

When you use a google account for the Market, it will remember apps you have downloaded. It does not however save settings, preferences, cached data, etc.
I ran Android on a Fuze for over a year before upgrading to the Inspire. When Google released web access to the Market, it allowed me to track which apps are installed to which phones. When I switched phones, i jumped on my PC and clicked all the apps from the Fuze I wanted on the Inspire and Google automatically downloaded them to the phone.
If you want the apps and data backed up, you may need a product like Titanium back-up. I used it on the Fuze but since that was rooted, not sure if it will work on the Inspire with stock ROM.
or, if you're taking your sd card with you, you can use an app like app installer by gregory house to back up all of your apk files. or titanium backup does the same thing.
the market always screws me somehow. I purchased apps when I first got it only to find that it didn't remember me buying when I rooted and put on a custom rom. Even using titanium, 99% of my apps restore but I have ran into a few that won't due to licensing. When I go to the market, no record of it at all. I missed how itunes and cydia remembered everything you had. Don't miss the iphone though! lol
I use titanium backup. Works quite well.

miui help

just flashed miui, first thing i noticed was my apps are reinstalling themselves? did i get lucky or something? i don't recall this ever happening before after flashing a rom.
onto the real question,
is there any easy way to auto organize all the apps? I've got 100+ so it's going to be a real pain in the ass!
Thanks,
Cole
Edit: not all them came back, and the ones i restored with titanium backup aren't showing up under my apps in the market, how can i get them to show up?
Also, on the facebook sync, i don't want every person on my friends list sync'd. i chose only sync with existing contacts, but it decided to sync everything, help?

About FB i have no idea because it did that to me all the time so i gave up lol
But to make apps appear in market again I think in Titanium Backup if you long press there is a "link to market" button....havnt used it in a while tho.
EDIT: I think it was- open TB - Menu - Market Doctor... or something like that lol
For your Apps just make a folder put it on your dock bar and use it like a app drawer.
I have mine on the bottom right corner. Just put Ll your Apps in there

[Q] how to recover widget and sync for gmail

Hi everyone,
I bought an Atrix about 1 month ago, I like it very much and I've been playing around and trying to catch up with some android knowledge because I used BB for several years..
So yesterday I installed ADW launcher and I'm getting used to it, but I can not recover the accuweather widget. If i try to add it, it says my location already has a widget. But I can not figure out how to switch to the motoblur launcher to delete it, or delete it some other way... it might be simple but I am clueless..
Also, Gmail seems to have stopped refreshing unless I do it manually. I have switched simcards a few times to be able to download apps from the market (I am currently in China), not sure if I can reset it somehow? Other email and notifications seem to work ok.
Thanks for your advice.

[Q] Google Apps no longer has facebook?

I just put an insurance claim on my phone and got a new one, a Nexus S 4G by sprint.
Previously, I had CM7 with Google Apps.. I remember after I installed the custom recovery and CM7 and GApps last time, it gave me an option upon the first boot to install a bunch of google apps as well as the integrated facebook app..
Now, I got the new phone, went through the same process, and I can't find any of these apps.. When I install the Google Apps thing, it just takes me to a market search.. and I can't find the facebook one anymore.
I use that program to sync my contacts and I don't know what to do.
I've search all over the over the forums and all over the internet and I can't find anything. Can someone help me?

facebook was never a google app. nevertheless it should be in the market. search google for a facebook apk.
Just do a regular market search for Facebook. Its in there. I have to download everytime I install a new rom.

Facebook and Accounts issue.

So, I bought a Sprint Note 5. First day of owning it, I rooted and flashed one of the deoxed roms listed on the site (sorry, can't recall which at the moment). Everything had been perfect with exception of one tiny thing. My contacts don't have photos assigned to them. I started to investigate my settings as to why Facebook hadn't syncd with them and noticed some users have an extra setting in their Facebook app than others. Mainly the sync contacts option. So, I went on over to my accounts tab under settings and noticed my Facebook account wasnt listed. When I clicked add account then clicked on Facebook, one of two things would happen. A. If I didn't have Facebook opened already, the screen would act as of it were about to load sobering then kick me back to the original accounts page under the note 5s system settings. Or, B. It would open my prelaunched facebook app. I think this maybe part of my problem, as it won't allow me to add my account and this sync my contacts with it. I'm not sure if this is due to removed features from the rom, a modified accounts.apk [if one exists. Was only able to locate the account and sigs for note 2] or possibly some missing services that were removed. What I was hoping for was if the accounts portion is actually an apk, if someone could attach a copy of it. Or, if someone knows why this would be happening, to fill me in. Thanks in advance.
I've had this issue too. Seems to be a feature that Facebook removed in one of the latest updates. My supervisor did not update his app in a while and he had the option in the app to sync contacts. I always update mine on all my devices and it was gone. Hopefully it is just an error and they bring back the option.
