How is the battery life? I'm going to give it a try. Kk4 isn't as good as I hoped.

Actually kk4 is better for me out here in LA Cali.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
KK4 had gotren me 18-24+ hours. Will try this out!
And thanks!
Initial impression is good. Running close to 24 hours and so far and it is decent. I am comparing this to the two modems that has worked best on my phone in my area (Chicago).
Ki3 had decent speeds and really good battery life.
Kk4 had better speeds but drain was worse.
Kl2 has better speeds than ki3 and only sacrifices a 1% battery drain per hour (idle) worse.
I will take the trade off.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
So far it has been worse on battery, but better signal, than kj4. Might go back, but will give it another 48 hours.
This modem has worked better than any other for me. I can get an instant cell lock on 4g where previously I couldn't even pick up a 4g signal. At my home, where before I had no reception whatsoever, I can actually pick up a bar or two.
Does this modem still have the 160 character issue where sending messages over 160 characters fails? Thanks.
Edit: I just tested and not only did this modem send a message from a place where I have trouble sending but it doesn't seem to suffer from the 160 character limit. This is good, very good.

The negatives depend on who you talk to. Alot have GPS issues along with bad battery life. Also people have been going through signal loss. The good is the screen and with some Roms debloat and optimize it. Once rooted you have alot you can to customize it. Best just to search and see what other people are going through.
Ok I guessing that we don't have miui.us on the charge what's the average battery life on moderate to heavy usage
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
With moderate use, I can get about 12hrs. That's including internet, phone calls. videos and just generally messing with it. I managed to solve the gps problem with faster fix from the market. I now generally lock on in 10 to 20 seconds. The screen is incredible. I truly enjoy watching my videos on it. Enjoy your Charge.

Not too many problems here except those that are hardware related... all roms I've tried run great, battery life is decent but I do have the infamous 'random data drop' bug and I've had a 4G sim replacement once (probably due to my compulsive flashing lol )

Long story short: I am on my third Infuse with constant dropped calls. ATT has now offered to replace my phone.
Any thoughts on what to get. I think my options are:
Atrix 2
LG Nitro
Captivate slide (really miss the physical keyboard)
Skyrocket
S2
The Nitro and Skyrocket seem to have some pretty stellar reviews.
I think the Atrix still has a locked bootloader.
The Slide has the keyboard I have been missing since I got the Infuse.
And the S2 has a smaller screen
Any thoughts on any of these phones?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Definately Skyrocket
Captive slide feels cheaply made its very light even with the battery in

From what I've read, all Samsung devices using the Qualcomm chip instead of the Exynos have screen tuning issues. Either way, I would take an Infuse first and the SGS2 second.
wow, no one is giving any love to the nitro. the more reviews I read, the more I am liking it. anyone care to elaborate on the reasons for the s2 or rocket instead of the nitro? reviewing the specs, the nitro seems just as tricked out as the others and even better speced on several fronts. not trying to start a war, just trying to figure out how to best take advantage of att's "generosity".

I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the network where you are - does it always drop in the same place?
No one else has had the problems you have had, and for it to happen with three devices says "network" to me.
I never had a problem with dropped anything while driving - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011GI94Q means it's extremely rare to ever have less than 3-4 bars anywhere when behind the wheel.
(I live in the boonies - I often go through areas where no phone ever has coverage, but with the Wilson I'll still usually have 3-4 bars in those places. It has more than exceeded my expectations.)

For future reference, maybe you should take 2 seconds and find a modem thread. In this thread you will find plenty of ppl's results they got in their respective areas. This type of question gets real old here, as it has been answered numerous times. I for one use a different modem depending on the area I'm in. Bottom line is, every modem will perform great in some areas and so so in the next...
So far the ki3 modem seems to be holding up well. It is one of the newer modems.

I was correcting the post above mine and his reference to KI3 as a recent leak. (wouldn't want to confuse anyone)
See that's the thing I've had ppl swear by KI3 and KJ2, yet they blow in my area...I actually used KH1 or KH2 (a galaxy S modem I think?) for a while and actually had pretty balanced connection.
I read this thread last night and decided to try out different modems. I flashed about 5 or 6 different ones and the ki3 is by far the best one that I have used yet. I couldn't ever get a decent signal inside my house and now I don't have to use my wifi at all with ki3.

Here's the basics of my request. Live in a fringe area of 3g reception. My MAXX gets at least 1 bar more in coverage. Clients never complain of reception issues. GS3 gets inconsistent coverage... I have updated to the newest modem... works better but still under par to motto. Is there any way to allow this phone to use more power to transmit and rec signal?? If there is a working solution I will be happy to donate 200 to any dev that can make this happen.
Just inherit with the design? Or it possible to increase the phone signal power??

From what I understand Samsung reduced the radio's power to meet lower radiation standards. I think a newer firmware could solve this problem but the question is will we get one.
Keep it together
Thanks for the input. I will give you a call on the number you left.
Ps... tried the booster. In fact I run a 3watt kit in my car which works great. The in home kits I don't find all that great.... unless you are in front of the repeater. Basically too limiting imo.

Really? If that's the case, shouldn't someone be able to come out with a kernel which ups the power of the radios? That would be absolutely amazing if they could!

Upping the power of the radio will also eat through your battery quicker and doesn't necessarily mean it will make the radio work any better..
Better designed internal antennas would be sufficient in most cases.. And since Samsung has a looooong history of dishing out poor radios, I doubt increases in radio power will help if any..

You made a huge mistake switching to tmobile!!
There is nothing called "combo" when it comes to using Skyrocket with t mobile (and in my opinion it makes things worse as you might have to troubleshoot both sides radio and rom problems) ... It is just the radio that can be fine or not depending on the area , and in some areas now t mobile switched their data freq to 1900Mhz so even stock UCLF6,UCLI3 or UCLL3 can work , including 4G
