The Note's screen is large enough that in landscape, split in half, each side is still larger than many phone screens I've used before, including smart phones. I'd really like to be able to do split screen multitasking. Has anyone made something like this yet? Sure, the resolution of each half would be a little weird at 800x640, but doesn't ICS alleviate resolution issues? I'd love to be able to use each side as a separate monitor.
If not, perhaps it could be split into two 800x480 screens with a strip of controls in the center. Or split into 800x800 and 800x480. Should be easy to adapt graphics for 800x800.
This is something I'd really like, so if it's not done already, someone please do it! Should I repost this in development? It may be more involved than just creating an app.
... very good question
I think the easiest solution is using a remote log in app with your computer.
The Note's screen in half equals to two 3.62" of 640x800 screens! That's 2 iPhone screens and more!
I'm sure the text/icons will be way more readable/viewable that the "mock-up" below..

is there any app which do that...?
This is not trivial as it may sound on Android.
According to Android concepts, there may only be one Activity* in the foreground.
Other pop ups and menus are not full blown activities. Android manages all the Activities.
Activities that are not in the foreground are closed to free memory up.
The only way I can see without modifying android is to find some way the widgetify an android activity so it is treated as a widget. This way you can place two apps as widgets next to each other and even resize them as you like.
* An android activity is a java class extending the Activity class, managed by android window manager.

Isn't there any game yet (e.g. racing game) which does exactly this?
I will putting my prototype very soon, I am already developing for this, I hope you people might extend some help, it already ripped me off by lot an amount buying some stuff to accomplish this.
It should be possible. After all there's already one App available that will do 'MultiView' and that's called Stick it! Free your Player!

Have you also tried the same developers calculator named AirCalc.
It works on the same principle and is great when you need a calculator with another App ~ i.e. EasyMoney & AirCalc.
I think better than splitting the screen into 2 would be if we can push the output via MHL to a screen and move an app there, how one can do on a PC with 2 monitors.
So watch a movie on the TV/monitor and text or use the phone on its native display.
Onskreen Cornerstone makes three windows for multitasking. It currently only works on Motorola Xoom. But it is open source and has to be incorporated into ROM. I hope some clever developer can adapt this for GNote*. Check out

Hi there. I need an app that mirrors the screen of my android phone to use it as a HUD in my car. I've already found an app that shows the current speed mirrored, but i would like to have it for other apps, too. So that i can use apps like Google Maps Navigation with my front window.
I googled a lot, but i sadly didn't find anything...
I'm confused.
You want this displayed ... how? where?
Please share the name/developer of the other app you've already found. Give us an idea of what you are talking about.
When you say HUD (heads up display), the only thing I can think of is some sort of projected display on your windshield
THAT WOULD EFFING AWESOME!!!!
if i understand Phexi right, he wants to put his phone under the windshield in a way that enables you to see the reflection of the screen in the windshield. works great during night trips.
usual problem - everything is mirrored.
wow that's a good idea!

This is exactly what i wanted to tell you
Yeah, the "evrything is mirrored" can be a problem, but with the help of a homescreen widget (maybe with a mirrored text ) it should be possible to switch back very easily
With an AMOLED display it should look very good (when the rest is black), but it has to be mirrored to work.
should look like this then

Any progress on this? This would be an excellent app idea but due to my limited development knowledge someone else will have to work on it. This app will allow anyone to use their phone/tablet to project image on a semi-reflective surface and serve as a cheap full-screen navigation/media center solution.
I will be willing to purchase it as an initial customer and even make a small donation for its development.
How bout the app up there?
No, the app in the link only mirrors some text based info. We need something that can flip the display contents on the y-axis. This way when you project the screen contents the reverse text and graphics appear normal. I do not believe there's anything in the market that currently offers to do this.

How difficult would it be to make a driver for an input device? I know that in the android sdk there's the ddms utility that I use for screen shots, but it also logs things on the device. Or what about the recently made public google app creator?
My dad is a professional piano player and uses a laptop on the music stand for his massive collection of sheet music. The music is just se up like a locally stored website. He has a foot assembly with 2 pedals to go forward and back through the pages. It plugs in with usb.
How dificult would that be to work with the usb port on a G tablet? I'm borrowing a friends for the night playing with it but we are looking to get one but this is a big factor.

Windows auto loads drivers for it though it gets lost in a mess of Human Interface Devices in the device manager so I'm not 100% sure which it is
I tried to Debug capture if it is getting a signal from anything from it but not seeing it.
This is what we're trying to work with with it:
You can see how I just did that in the browser,
That is a screen of the Lyrics, and here is a sheet music
and this is in the gallery.
However, he has an INSANELY massive collection, and his HTML pages link to each other so it is a large directory, and then pull up the sheet music via a link on the lyrics page. What I am imagining is that you'd click the link on lyrics page and it would ask "do you want to use gallery or other program" dialog.
What would be nice is mapping the foot pedal to that, or at least using finger swipe but I'm not sure how to in the browser.
You'll probably need to write a quick app for this. Something that will read the list of files, htm/png's whatever, provide a list, let the user pick a song and then display it, I'll bet that thing acts like a keyboard so all you'd need to do is listen for keyboard events, no driver required, and act accordingly, aka displaying the next sheet, etc.
What do ya use to listen for keyboard inputs? is that in DDMS? I'm not seeing any changes in the running log at the bottom of the app.
We both agree this is ALMOST perfect for him, but he may need bigger. The tab itself works great but when the sheet music is on it it's a tiny bit hard to read at the distance he needs.
He swears that Asus and Viewsonic are both having a 12" tab coming out but I can't find much info on that. What I did find has an i5 processor so that's a bit much. Whats the biggest android tab?

I have just pushed an update to the store which allows DealPad to run on Android 2.2+. This now allows approximately 95% of active Android devices to access the application.
To celebrate this release the Ad-Free version has been reduced to just 50pence.
As always I look forward to hearing feedback from you guys.
Amazing app, definitely the best “HotUkDeals” app on the market. However, I have a suggestion, would it be possible to add a slide function to move between panels?
Sorry just noticed your comment now. I have considered the slide between tabs. The reason it is not implemented currently is that when a tab is switched the deals are downloaded. So adding the slide to switch tabs doesn't feel right.
I will keep it on the to do list and see if I can cache some deals to make it feel more natural and fluid.
Let me know if you have any more requests/comments.
Ahh its fine. Could you not make the slide feature like the YouTube app? The page itself doesn’t actually freeze, so you still have the ability to slide/press a tab even though it’s loading. Caching the deals would be a good idea though, definitely more efficient.
By the way, I have also noticed the settings page doesn’t actually have a header?
By the way, have you thought about adding the ability to switch between holo light and holo dark themes. Just a thought

Yeah the way youtube implement it is nice. Sadly the way the deals are stored at the moment means I can't do that without changing the data structure which will be a bit of work.
Regarding themes, I am personally not a fan of holo dark but I have had a few requests so I can look into it. Unsure about black and orange though

Yeah I understand what you mean, hopefully it wouldn't be too hard to implement though as a slide function would be great. It would definitely make it easier to switch tabs on tablets.
The black and orange theme wouldn't be too bad in my opinion, not greatly important, but nice as an option.

There are literally hundreds of unit converter apps on Google Play.
I believe FUC is the only one that uses dimensional analysis in the conversion engine to let the user build, combine, and convert an endless number of complex units.

Re: [APP][3.0+] Flexible Unit Conversion Tool (FUCT)
I just downloaded. Very good app. Well done! Sadly, while I have an Engineering degree, I mostly do only IT work these days But it looks like you have most conversions covered.
My suggestions:
1- the number pad/keyboard to add values for the conversion takes up ~75% of my tablet's screen. Not a big deal, but could be a bit smaller.
2- on the favorites page, I think it would be more intuitive to click on the row itself instead of the number on the left side.
3- It took me a while to figure out that I could click on the conversion result value and change the display options (like scientific notation threshold). Maybe have some help or indicator that keys the user know how to change these settings.
Good luck with the app!
Hey, thanks. I never tested it on a tablet, so I'm glad to hear it at least works, even if the keypad is way too big.
I'll fix the favorites as you suggest, and make the conversion result display options access more obvious.
Much appreciated.
Updated to 0.3: easier to use favorites, search function, and bug fixes.
Lots more things I could add or change, but it doesn't seem worth it since it's only getting about 1 download / day. Hopefully just needs more time.

I know this is a very old thread but the author was responding so I'll ask here anyway. This is an awesome tool that I've used for years very happily. However, as of today v0.54 force closes on my A10e running Android 11 stock. I've reset cache and date with no success. I wasn't notified of an update but there you go.
I'm guessing I may be alone in using the app, but I don't know of any real alternative. I'm hoping rhe author sees this but if anyone else has any thoughts or alternative unit converters to suggest I'm open to suggestions.
I don't know what's out there. Just converting units seems a bit limited.
I've had a private app on Windows that is a calculator and knows about units.
I keep on thinking about porting it to Android
1 inch/((1 ampere/-electron charge/avogadro's number)/(18awg/atomic volume(cu)))
This tells you that an Ampere of DC current through an 18AWG cable will take 4 minutes 43 seconds to move the electrons one inch.
There are lots of calculators but there are no other flexible converters ive located. I would consider a combined cLculator/unit converter if it utilized custom units like FUC. That is the only feature i really have a use for since everything else has been done.
I found ConvertAll for Linux/Windows that may work. It's certainly not as slick as FUC, but it might be a fall back option.
Convertall - Screenshots
It's only Windows so not what I want though...
This is my new Unit Conversion app released today, HoloConvert. I felt that all of the current Android unit conversion apps are ugly and many aren't powerful enough, so I decided to make one of my own with a Holo interface in mind. I recieved great support on XDA for my last app Scientific 7 Minute Workout so I wanted to see if I could get some feedback for my newest app.

What makes this unit conversion app different?
Like I said before, I feel the user interface of an app is one of the most major components of an app. Even if an app works well, you shouldn't have to sacrifice on the looks or ease-of-use of an app. I made this app to target that, while implementing many features such as:
Saving your favorite conversion units
Adding new custom units
Tip Calculator
Multiple themes
Choice in decimal precision
Built-in calculator
I just released the app, so please let me know what you think and of any suggestions!
Wow this looks great!

That would be great. Also, some more currencies would be great, if you have the time (I kind of miss SEK).
Great app though! and at 0.79€, very affordable!
Scrolling through the units is extremely laggy on my phone, other buttons work with instant feedback. Somehow the list is really heavy to render.
I prefer asking google now for unit conversion but this is very nice app
Nice and handy app. One little bug, I cannot input negative numbers on the From input. E.g., when converting from Fahrenheit to Celsius.

Looks very nice but I have two remarks.
On my SGS2 4.3" display, text is HUGE.
It would be nice to be able to select between few text sizes.
Nothing fancy, simple "Small, Medium, Large" selection.
You desperately need to implement reverse conversion.
If I choose meter as first unit and insert number "1", it works for Angstrom but cannot cope with AU.
You could implement simple swipe left or right to replace currently selected units
Also, question "Are you sure you wish to exit?" is unnecessary in my opinion.
Best wishes in new year!

That looks like Fahrenheit to Kelvin conversion. Code bugs it seems like.

Well I purchased it.
Will keep it but two issues so far.
The icon is ugly (will be nice to have something graphical)
The first conversion I tried was not accurate. There are exactly 12 inches to a foot so I selected convert feet to inches, selected 3 feet and it did not convert to exactly 36 inches.
Nice
Some current, resistance, voltage, ect. units, would be great. Nice job I can help with translation to polish.
great!
 it's cool
Very nice app. I just have not been able to enter a negative number for conversion.
For instance, if I attempt to enter -40 for a F to C for temp conversion, the "-" symbol does not appear to register as having been selected for input, despite the fact that the keyboard shows it available and I have entered it.
