[Q] Best choice for new phone (qwertz-slider) - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I am thinking about buying a new phone since my HTC Touch HD gets old.
Main criteria is a full hardware qwertz keyboard (Germany).
Are there some other choices beside Motorola Milestone 2 and HTC Desire Z?
I would prefer a HTC phone but the Desire Z is not very good with just 800Mhz and 1,5Gb internal memory.
The Milestone seems to be the best choice at the moment, or are there some downsides?

Motorola Milestone 2 or 3 or Xperia Pro. I preffer Xperia Pro, it's more my style, but it's your choice.

Thanks Felimenta97!
I personally don't like the design of the Xperia phone.
And I searched for the Milestone 3 but sadly I don't find any release date for europe.

I think there aren't many options out there with slide out keyboard. There is Motorola Spice XT300, but it's kinda ugly and the hardware isn't good.

[Resolved] [Q] List of Mobiles with Cyanogen compatible

Hi everyone,
First, i'm new here, and I love this site
Second, I'm from Belgium, so if you can't read what I wrote, it's normal, I don't speak english very well.
Third, there is my question : could you make a list for me, with all mobile phones, in which i could put Cyanogenmod (and if i could root it of course). Because I'll maybe change my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 because i saw in another forum that it's impossible to make a Cyanogen for X10, and also because X10 is very late for updates (I'm on Android 1.6, 2.2 will be released in March 2010).
Thank you for your help
Nexus One
HTC Aria
HTC Dream
HTC Magic
HTC Desire
HTC Evo
HTC Slide
HTC Hero CDMA
HTC Hero GSM
HTC Incredible
HTC Legend
Motorola Droid
Source: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/files/category/1-stable-mod/
Ok thank you I'm sad xD
Do you think Cyanogen will never create a ROM for our X10 ?
And if not, are there other really nice ROMs for X10 ?
I don't think X10 has been rooted yet, so I don't know if you even load a Custom ROM or flash a new image.
SE said they will get Froyo for X10 in November(?), while keeping Eclair for the X10 mini, X10 mini pro etc. In another "unofficial interview", CEO of SE said that they are planning something big, I think this is a PSPhone since Sony had failed to even announce a PSP2.
I'm guessing that the rumour was true, and SE will announce a Froyo phone that will be able to accept Sony's memory cards and Sony will allow that device to enter the PSN (same as the PSP Go's Market). This phone will be a slide / tilt / flipout with the gamepad on the bottom, where the top layer is the touchscreen and SE's 3 buttons. I'm guessing it will be plastic and it will resemble the X10 (not a good thing).
It would probably have something powerful beneath it; definantly 1GB LDDR2 RAM (or more) + 1GHz A8 processor (or more) + SGX540 (or more).
I also think it will have a miniHDMI connector like the HTC EVO 4G, for presentation/gaming.
All in all, it will (have to) be better than all the smartphones on the market including the N900/Milestone2/GalaxyS/iPhone4 and it will definantly be expensive (on-par with the iPhone4 or even more expensive since Sony is a greedy company).
If you can shell-out for it, you won't be disappointed ... the Playstation name is too valuable to stain!
Thank you for your answer Ekin, even if I didn't understand everything
But on xda-dev on the forum, I found the way to root it, but I'm not going to do it if there is no ROM to add :'(
Thank you

Stevane,
out of all phones you've mentioned, 5700 SPica is the best choice, simply 'coz it have 3.2" 480x320 screen and fastest CPU/GPu (SoC)
Yeah it's short on memory, but hey at least it has capacitive screen!
Gratia is better phone in any respect, but I don't know where in Bosnia you could buy it, and more importantly if you could how much are you ready to pay for it!?!
hTC mate....Go in for the Wildfire for now...Look no furthur...Samsung Galaxy 3 isn't much of a good device.A friend of mine has that phone...

Wildfire's QVGA sceen and Qualcom's MSM7225 SoC are major letdowns!
In all respects, except memory size, i5700 spica is better phone!
I agree that Galaxy3 or 5, or any other except Spica and i9000S should be avoided!
Again, if there's a chance to obtain Gratia, that would be best solution, but somehow I doubt that's pssible in Bosnia now!
Htc Gratia is not now availible in Bosnia, but i can wait to see a price.
Htc Wildfire and i5700 are about 225 euros. if grati will be about 260 i will bought them
And now i dont know what to do if i cant bought gratia. you say i5700 bu other say wildfire !??

i have got a htc wildfire at home...
And i just love that phone (though my brother doesn't let me touch it)
and it has got decent cpu and good amount of ram even if screen resolution is low... I would still go for it..
A great phone to purchase
Now i am looking for Sony Ericsson X8. With Android 2.1 i think that x8 is better than wildfire and spica

Not at all...If you drop a Sony Ericsson, you break your heart. I have had a bad experience with sony ericsson devices where the USB connector gets un-usable, the screen cracks even when the device is in your not so tight jean pocket...Just look for the shortcomings before you go for sony ericsson...It will waste your money in repairing.Instead, save some more money and buy a better device...Thats from my side...Rest is upto you to decide.

wait and do your best to buy Gratia!
how about a motorola defy......
If I were you I would wait for the Nexus S. That will give you great GPU and it will be usable world wide.

[Q] Which Phone should I get??

Hi, I hve finally decide to go back to PDA/Smartphone and want to know which I should get. I am a veteran in the rom flashing/cooking era of the wizard and vario's and htc touch pro 2. I am after finding out which is the best , as in most powerful and able to run everything smoothly whether it be android or Win7. I prefer a physical keyboard , but if screen good enough will use on screen one.
Thanks for your time/thoughts peeps!!
P.s coming of an Iphone 4. (Boo hiss I know...lol).
Desire Z (w/ HW Keyboard), iPhone 4 or HTC HD7...
This depends on you. All those phones are great. You need to check which one fits your style. We can't do this for you.
I suggest you wait until the newer Q1 2011 android phones come out, where do you live and what carriers are in your area?
Thanks for the replys. I am in UK on o2 and have about £400 for new phone.
need a phone quite quickly so am after the best nowish. Can a desire z be flashed with roms etc and HD7?
HD7 looks quite big and desire z only has 800mhz cpu as far as I can see . Is this fast enough.?
Thanks.

[Q] QWERTY Keyboard Android Phone

Hi, I am looking to replace my GFs Xperia Play with a QWERTY android phone. I have looked about and have landed at the Epic 4g. But I would like to know what the xda community thinks on this. Cost is not an issue. She really doesn't play with custom firmware(although I might). Would prefer a phone that will eventually support ICS(custom or official). Any response would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Malanarth
only Android phones with keyboards physical are Verizon's droid, droid2,3,4(i like droid 4), Verizon has crap stuff Lee lg ally.... crap.... wait u want ics. so droid 4, htc evo shift, dang this is hard.... android ics or custom ics available and physical keyboard....... this is hard. ya know what samsung epic sounds good. i actually thought of getting one myself and putting it on us cellular a way i found online somewhere but found good deal on my electrify

Theres Also The Desire Z But I'm Quite Sure It Won't Be Running ICS
Good Device Though
---------- Post added at 10:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:09 AM ----------
Why Not Go For The Xperia Mini Pro (2011 Version) Its Small (So Perfect For Your GF Fingers) Its Capable (HD Camera, All The Good Features) AND It Will Have ICS On It Soon Enough
Or Go For The Xperia Pro That Has All The Xperia Mini's Features But With A Bigger Screen

I think you can put Android on this phone because the Huawei Ascend W1 has a similar specs as the Sony Xperia L.
Chipset Qualcomm MSM8230 Snapdragon
GPU Adreno 305
A-GPS
There will be some risk that not everything will be 100% compatible as there may be some differences in the other hardware components, such as the SDcard reader, wi-fi, USB, etc. So, it will be prudent to do some research before deciding whether or not you want to flash the Android ROM. There is a Sony Xperil L forum here on XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l
You may want to find out more before you embark on this project.
Good luck in your venture.
