[Q] Pls help, battery troubleshooting - HTC Sensation

Dear all,
I'm exasperated with the battery life that I am getting from my Sensation. I'm hoping to get some help in how to troubleshoot whatever software that is installed in my phone that is sucking up the battery life. I did some experiment where I removed the SIM card (so as to kill off any network connections), turned off Wifi and Bluetooth, and the only factor that I changed was the Airplane mode. The following is the result:

The red line shows the average gradient of the battery drain with and without Airplane mode. Apparently, there are some network-aware software that is "disabling" itself when Airplane mode is on or off. I have tried using BetterBatteryStats to get an idea of the wakelocks in my phone but it is not very enlightening (AlarmManager and PowerManagerService are using causing most of the wakelocks). Is there some software that can help me troubleshoot the issue? Thanks!

You could try this thread...download currentwidget and get a log of everything happening. If this doesnt solve it, post the log over there and see if some of the devs can help you out. Hope this helps.
[How to] Brilliant Battery Life 100% Working

I notice your using battery widget pro, have you tried using system tuner, also by 3c, to see if you can find and stop the problem app or process.

Happens to me with no apps too.. This phone eats power like nothing else I ever saw before!

[Q] [HELP] Draining battery

Hello,
I need some help with my evo...i have it running on the fresh 3.5 ROM and netarchy-toasts kernel, latest version and all. I am overclocking as well, but nothing to drastic. Until recently, the battery life on my phone went into the ***** literally. Before it went 24 hours plus with medium to heavy usage. Now i can leave the screen on and literally (no exaggeration) watch the battery drain sliver by sliver. I just did a complete data wipe and reflashed the rom and kernel both in hopes of resolving the issue, but its still draining. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really need this fixed but cant figure it out on my own :/
edit: the only time this happens is when the screen is on, when the screen is off it STILL DOES drain more than usual, but nothing compared to what happens when its unlocked. My though is that an app is running in the background eating up my batter life, but i have no clue what it is or how to locate it.
This is what the battery usage is looking like. Always Android system up at the top

I forgot to mention that i have juicedefender installed already, and set cpu with profiles as well. one of the profiles is for when the screen is off, set for 300/300 (not accurate, but is set around that)
If its going as fast as you say (literally draining in an hour or so) I would say check your batter, try a new one. Otherwise you already have juice defender (which I tried and it really didn't do much else) so everything should be covered. Try wiping Dalvik cache, also try wiping batter stats (both are in clockwork recovery under the "advanced" tab.
Good luck and sorry if this doesn't help
Hey,
Download Juice Defender and AutoKiller fro the market and watch the Magic. me and you have the same phone and same rom. Note: delete any tsk Managers ou have because they will interfere with juice defender..

Higher battery use on 4.4.1 - here are my battery stats!

Ok. On 4.4 (with linaro version of franco kernel) i could leave wifi on and overnight get 2% battery loss.
Now on 4.4.1 (again with linaro version of franco kernel) i get 5% overnight loss. Nothing else has changed!???
Here are my battery stats...
(i plugged it in just before bed so it'd reset the 'unplugged')

I think betterbatterystats is what causes the battery drain in 4.4.1, i uninstalled it and no problems.
Based on the screenshots (log from BBS would be better as some stats are missing in your post) you've got WiFi on with few applications utilizing it. Like SwiftKey, Facebook and few others. Review your WiFi configuration (you may also need to remove/forget your WiFi network from the phone and configure it again - that seem to fix certain WiFi issues at 4.4.1) and check again. Also try with WiFi off for comparison.
Thanks I've just forgot the wifi and rebooted then re connected, I don't get why SwiftKey is using it? It's a keyboard!?

5% loss overnight is still decent I would take that
mine seems ok
edit. seems the pic has gone wrong. it shows the battery going up a few per cent overnight
I know but it's over the double the 2% i used to get!

I also feel the battery drain quite a lot faster. About two times faster when idle, and i see quite a lot "awake" caused by the Android System when the screen is off.
@wheilitjohnny
that must be coming from some process. I don't have such issue, it's pretty much the same as it was on 4.4.
I've not changed any apps etc since tho. That's what's annoying

[Q] What is com.android.systemui and why is it gobbling so much battery?

Since flashing Carbon ROM two nights ago, I've been seeing com.android.systemui consistently at or near the top of my battery stats screen (screen shot below). When I was on Cataclysm, I never noticed this. Is this something I should worry about/deal with?

You've only used 3,% of your battery. See what it looks like later in the day. It should be less than 5%. If it isn't then yes, something is not right. Turn location off until you need it. That week save battery.
Sent from my Nexus 5
the % used in the graph is the % used of total battery drain.
you only lost 3% total battery and 49% of that 3% was used by the system.
there is no problem as of now.
Check out lockscreen notifications if you have pocket mode on it keeps the proximity sensor on all the time and will cause a larger than normal drain.

This is very helpful. Thanks -- I'll try disabling lockscreen notifications/pocket mode.
You cannot tell anything from stats after only a few percent of battery drain. Look again after you've burned 90 percent off the battery.

Extreme battery drain issue with Bluetooth

Hello,
I've had by Z5 since late 2015 and it's been a real trooper. Sadly it has recently (in the last few days) developed an issue where Bluetooth appears to be draining battery like crazy. I've dug around a bit on the internet and found a few people experiencing the problem but none too recently. One post suggested turning on the 'Enable Bluetooth HCI snoop log' and toggling Bluetooth on and off, then checking the log. When I turn that setting on, it creates the 'btsnoop_hci.log' which very rapidly starts filling with junk. In the space of about 20 seconds it took for me to toggle BT on and off and take a copy of the log, it had grown to 700 KB.
Below are some screenshots showing the battery usage of Bluetooth. I have a copy of my btsnoop_hci.log file too but I couldn't find a way to attach it to this thread. If there's some way I can share this, please let me know. If anyone can help me troubleshoot this issue, I would be most grateful. As far as usage / changes that might have cause this problem, I can't think of anything too crazy but here are some points:
I paired my phone with a pair of Taotronics BH22 headphones last week but have since forced my Bluetooth to "forget" this device.
I use my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones pretty much every day to listen to music since March 2019.
I don't use my phone for anything other than messaging, and music. The apps I have installed do automatic updates sometimes -- I was actually suspecting that an automatic update that went on for one of my apps might be the culprit, but I have no idea how to check this.

I think I've figured out what was causing the problem. It was an update to 'Google Play Services'. The version that recently went on was 16.0.91
I installed the beta version (specifically, 17.1.22 (040400-245988633) beta (040400)) and since then, Bluetooth is behaving.

Question Adaptive Battery performance

While Pixel phones are generally known for creating little interfearance with app perfoamance, in terms of things like managing battery life, I noticed a rather vague option where the OS will improve your phones's battery life by doing things probabbly like sleeping and or ricksting background usage for unused apps and the like.
From what I understand the 7 isn;t the first phone to have this feature as I saw people talking about it ont he 6 series too, though what I was manily wondering is for people who have this turned on or have used it int he past, if they have noticed any issues with some of their apps, such as missed notifactions?
I turned mine off more as a just in case, as comming from Samsung previpously who is nortiorus for being very heavy handed when it comes to their battery savng measures, I'm just wondering how much impact this option has (if any at all), so if it might need to start being listed as a potential problem to check in places such as don't kill my app, or if Google somehow manages to make it a lot less intrusive?
I haven't been able to find any technical infomation on what excatly the feature does to trey and determine just how invavse it might be.

I've never turned it off since it got introduced. No issues at all. It's supposed to learn how you use your phone, so I'd imagine you shouldn't have missed notifications. And if that's the reason my 7 Pro gets it's 8-10+ hours of SoT, I'd keep on using it.
Never turned off and I think that MUST stay on, because the battery life is really good.
Without it would certainly not be so good.
I am using the way adaptive charging tuned off and adaptive battery tuned on
