Hello,
First thank you for helping noobs all.
I learned a lot from this community.
I charge was unrooted with voodoo laf fix on EE4.
I wanted to get the official firmware update so I unrooted using instruction from provided from this forum.
Odin says failed then when I rebooted the phone.
Now only thing I see is ==>
"cell phone icon" .. "exclamation mark".."Computer icon"
Try to recover many times and failed before "boot.bin"
Vol. up & down / Home Key / Power dose not work.
Only thing i can do is download mode....
Can anyone help this noob.
Thank you.
So maybe follow the fix a phone directions to get into download mode to get back to stock and go from there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111486
Get into download mode, ODIN, load the pit and file and go from there.
Volume down and power to download mode.
Leave the battery in while flashing as well. As long as you can get into Download mode, there is still hope that it can be fixed relatively easily.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
If nothing else works use PST with stock Verizon files and a PIT. Pretty scary program for noobs to use though.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
I had this happen to me once or twice before. My guess is that the USB cord came out or lost connection before it was done flashing. I used the pit file with the EE4 .tar file in Odin and it worked for me.
Follow the link posted above and you will be good to go.
Edit: On a second thought it could have also been because I put a .tar file under "PHONE" by accident and not "PDA". I don't really remember.
Just make sure to follow the directions and fully wait for it to finish and you'll be fine.

I tried flashing MUIU onto my Captivate and now it doesn't make it pass the boot screen. Then I set it to download mode while connected to ODIN3 and I checked repartition and auto reboot and f.reset time and now when I turn on my phone it has this symbol that has a phone triangle and a pc on it. PLEASE I need help on how to get it back to working condition.
You mean you see that triangle after your ODIN flash has completed?
What build number under is your battery(10.XX or 11.XX)? If compatible, look for ODIN 1click and the drivers. Fire it up, remove your sim, external sd, and battery, then plug in your mini usb cable. hold the volume up key and put the battery back in. You should be able to get back into DL mode. Master Clear then flash 2.1 again and start over.
I apologize if I sound like an idiot but I got back into download mode but I don't know how to flash a stock ROM back onto the phone. Thanks to anyone who posted in this thread I really appreciate it.
Do a little reading in this thread. Best of luck to you!

Thank you!
Please do some research so you know what you are doing before you flash your phone. Then if you run into trouble and cant fix it then do some more reSEARCH to fix the issue before opening a new thread.
Hope someone has some info.
I have recently tried to recover my phone via Odin flash. I'm flashing the GummyCharged 1.9 FE odin file. I've done this SEVERAL times w/ out any problems.
My problem now is that when the Odin flash is complete it shows "Pass" and when I reboot my phone it boots with an old version of CWM (4.0.0.1). Not only that but when I try to "reboot phone" it boot loops back to CWM and will not load ANY for of an OS. I've tried multiple Odin files with no luck. Same thing over and over.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm used to having to recover my phone from a bricked state... but never had an issue where I push a file to the phone and it will not boot after. Tried wiping data/cache after Odin as well... Still nothing.
I would try going back to stock using Imnuts' stock ROM and PIT file which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111486
That has always fixed any and all issues I've been having with the phone after messing something up.
EDIT: Here is the stock EE4 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172182

Yeah, no doubt. And I was able to do a restore on the Imnuts PBJ OBT kernel from 7/30... my problem started when I installed the new kernel version (from 8/8) and tried to backup/restore. Working perfectly now though!
Having same issue still getting recovery mode
I did a fix sd cardupdate for the rom clocking.
I had gumicharge rom on it
After 4 hours my battery was at 50% so I decided hey i can just load the rom on it again and no problem clean free.
It did not work. I am using odin.
It did not work so I got the pit file from this and it gave my system life and the ed1 file wont download it stalls out and failes i tried using
CI510_VZW_EE4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL1014954.tar.md5
or
CI510_VZW_EP1F_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV3_user_CL300919_Rooted_Debloated.tar.md5
both do nothing.
My phone just sits there reboots into Manual mode and looks like my blue recovery console.
Clear cache
Upload from SD Card
and clear memory so forth.
Thats all my options.
I am now stuck with phone i cant use or update. I am at work so now i cant use the megaupload since those are blocked by our firewall.
I was able to remote to pc to get a pit file.
At this point i dont know what to do or just do insurance claim on my phone and get another one. I dont know how to fix it now.
I cant read the sd card on any computer to put stuff on it and odin is writing things to it The pit file on this fix did give me a recovery enviroment but nothing on roms are on the sd card.
roms ive tried dont load for automaticaly its just in that manual mode thing with the icon of the little android dude.
it says
Android system recover (3e)
Enter: OK key, select:Vol Up/Vol Down
Reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
bewlo it syas #manual mode* and little android guy with eclamation point next to him.
I have tried severla tiems 3 different roms

Not sure if you're going into download mode properly but try this:
open ODIN
add the PIT file in the PIT section
add the EE4 OEM file in the PDA section (do not use the phone section)
leave everything else in ODIN as default except click on "re-partition"
take your battery out of the phone
hold the volume down button & plug in your USB cable (do not let go of the volume down button until you are in download mode)
ODIN should now now show a yellow com port for your phone on top left of ODIN and your phone should display "download mode"
select start
When it's complete ODIN will show in green that it passed. Unplug your phone, put the battery back in & boot
Hope this helps & good luck

don't put the battery in during flash & leave auto reboot checked. Auto reboot will not do anything as there isn't a battery installed... it'll just turn off. Unplug the phone after you flash it & put battery back in & boot

This is pretty much what fixed it for me. DON'T GIVE UP! Trust me, I literally had to try this several times before it booted up. I know its frustrating, trust me, but if you stick with it you can fix the phone.
Each time you're able to get to recovery mode, if you're phone doesn't boot, do like five data wipes and wipe cache. Then Odin the .pit and the EE4 from the link above in the pda field (both at the same time).
Good luck! Stick with it I know you CAN fix this!

I'm sure you're right, these are just the things that I did when I finally got it working.
I got stuck myself last night and odin started to fail every attempt, even with the pit file and following numerous instructions found around the site. I actually thought my phone was bricked for good.
I installed PST lite and selected the PIT and EE4 and selected to repartition. It took longer to do but everything came back up. Then using odin I was able to flash back to the rom I had before.
This was after an hour of trying to fix it as I mentioned and Odin kept failing.
^attempting to reflash via samsung pst lite.
loaded PIT, stock EE4. checked "repartition". when I click download, it starts, but freezes at 9%. RX_TIMEOUT shows on the phone screen.
I'm trying this method b/c Odin is not working. Same thing, just hangs, sez RX_TIMEOUT. (repartition w/ PIT, stock EE4)

Yes. tried both with and without. Just hangs. Can never fully make it through the flash.
Stuck with soft bricked phone.
Waiting for my wife to get home with her PC laptop. Hoping it really is just a platform issue (running ODIN on Mac Boot Camp)

What version of Odin are you using? I'm pretty sure I'm using Odin v. 1.82 or something close to that. Not too sure that it would make the difference. Just a thought.
Also, I had to Odin QUITE a few times to get it back up. I had even run the Odin w/ JUST the .pit file. Thought I read somewhere to run the .pit an UNCHECK the repartition box (I know it says it'll give you an error but I did not get one).
All in all, not too sure what exactly it was that finally got it working. But I eventually ran the .pit and ee4 (both posted in post #2 of this thread). Then when my phone booted up, it looked like the problem remained. I had to get back to work from lunch so I just put the phone in my pocket. Then out of nowhere I heard the boot animation come on.
Just make sure you read through, pretty much, all of the threads that deal w/ this stuff. There is almost always someone that has come across the same problem that you may have and almost always someone who had figured out how to fix it.
Good luck, this CAN be fixed!
My SGS4g is on android 2.3.4 but is not rooted or anything. I just tried to flash 2.2 on to the device and the device boots up after the intro and then ends up going black and vibrating. If I could get some help it would be greatly appreciated.
how is you phone on 2.3.4, but not rooted?
odin to kc1 by raver. use all of the files.
make sure you also take out the sim and sd card for this one.
might want to format the sd after backing up the pics or w/e.
I used one of the leaks, it was rooted previously. Where can I download the Kc1?
search raver kc1. search is temporarily down, but once it comes up dl the file and use odin
actually I just found it, hopefully everything goes through. Thank you for your help
It just failed in odin and I think I may have bricked it. Trying to get it into download mode.
I can't seem to get into download mode with holding the volume buttons down and the little phone and computer icons pop up when its trying to turn on.
that is dl mode(with another image).
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
reinstall your drivers. once the computer reboots. try again. make sure you use the noobs guide to odin (search bible); but instead of kb5, use kc1.
Ok so im not a newb to flashing ROMs or kernels and such. Both my roomate have the charge with imoseyon's kernel and DarkChargedTQ ROM. While he was on a business trip his phone reset but wouldnt boot, it would just loop at the samsung screen. So he got home, livid of course becuase of his broken phone so I tried to fix it.
I flashed back EP1W using ODIN which completes properly. THen when it reboots the stock recovery comes up saying that it cant mount /cache. THen if you try to factory reset it says that it cant mount /data. When I reboot I am still in the samsung boot loop.
Please Help, I was the one who flashed his phone and now its broken so im kinda freaking out!
I had a slightly different issue, kept getting the recovery halt when trying to go back to stock, all using the directions here. Nothing worked.
I then discovered this process, and it got my phone booting and stock.
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...harge-full-factory-tar-flashing-software.html
There might be an easier fix for you, but just sharing something that helped me out.
Thanks for the suggestion but thats a no go. Here is a little more detail.
After flashing the recovery fails to load the /cache. So when I try to fatory reset, I get this:
E:failed to mount /data (Invalid Argument)
E:install_application_for_customers: Can't mount /data
your storage not prepared yet, pl,ease use UI menu for format and reboot actions
Anyone ever seen this and can you help me?
Have you tried this?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111486
This was the only way I was able to get out of a bootloop condition the very first time I flashed this phone:
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...harge-ee4-full-factory-odin-return-stock.html
You need to download and install SamsungPST
Download the charge.pit file
Download the CI510_VZW_EE4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL1014954.tar.md5
Next, you pull the battery from your phone, connect the USB cable to your phone and computer. Then, press the volume down button to enter "download" mode. AFTER you have entered download mode you *MUST* put the battery back into the phone. Do not skip this.
So, at this point you should have your phone connected to your computer, in download mode, ready to flash WITH the battery in the phone to provide the extra power it needs during the flash process.
Next, You run the SamsungPST program, load the PIT file in the PIT section, load the .md5 file into the software section below the PIT *AND* you must click the "Repartition" *AND* the "Update Boot" checkbox before you start flashing.
Your phone will reboot after the flash process is complete and you will see some messages on the screen and it will reboot itself again before finally coming up.
BE PATIENT. This process takes a while. It takes more than six minutes to flash the phone AND another ~5 minutes before it boots up on its own. (possibly longer.)
Hopefully this will recover you. The "Repartition" option is very important. Flashing this same ROM with Odin did not work for me when I had to recover my phone. There is something about the SamsungPST program that is somehow more thorough or works better for this type of recovery.
I wrote this down from memory, so the wording might be slightly off, but you should be able to get it.

OK this sounds like it might work as its the only solution I have seen that uses the repartion. I have never delt with this and I may be really stupid right now but where do I get teh charge .pit file?
EDIT: I found a link for the charge.pit in the imnuts thread that was posted a few posts back. Does this file not change with different OS builds?

I have tried flashing just EP1W and flashing it with the .pit in both odin and the SamsungPST and I get teh same errors every time about not being able to mount anything. It seems like I dont have any partitions but I though that using the .pit and checking re=partition should fix the problem???
Ugh my roomate is gonna kill me, anyone have any other suggestions?

PIT isn't supposed to be used with GB roms.. go back to EE4 with the PIT file then boot up to make sure it works right, then Odin the GB rom of your choice by itself and you shouldn't have problems

Using the pit file will take you back to stock EE4. Since there is no official release after EE4 the file wont change. Even if we do get upped to an official OTA of GB you could still use this file to go back to EE4 and then you would get prompted to upgrade to GB.

Correct, Per the suggestions Im going to flash back to EE4 but I just tried and it said the checksum was invalid so im trying to redownload a difffernt one
EDIT: UGH anyone know why the md5 keeps failing or what normall causes that?

Ok didnt really follow everything so just gonna throw some stuff out there. So you are stuck at recovery so you can flash a .zip file? I found ee4 as a .zip file so you could try and do that but that doesnt help if you need to re partition. hmm. Instead of ee4 you could always try a download of ed1 or ed2. Or flash a .tar instead of a .md5. Im a noob also so just trying to help. Since you can odin files can you access your sd card? Can you odin clockwork and then try and load a file from there?
He's stuck system Samsung recovery can't flash from there but yeah flash cmw then flash a rom with kernal I think that should fix it cause when u flash w o kernal Samsung stock over writes cwm if I am not mistaking

Found something else but it was for another phone. Can you take your sd card out. Use and adapter to put in your computer, format it then put .zip file on there and see if it see's it. Ok well probably making things worse so as someone said take it to verizon and get replacement.
---------- Post added at 01:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:59 PM ----------
So something similar to this might work?
1. Download Odin, cwm_froyo-odin.zip
2. Extract cwm_froyo-odin.zip, place update.zip on root of SD card
3. Power phone down, remove battery
4. Open Odin, hold volume down and plug in USB to enter download mode
5. Select PDA and place cwm_froyo.tar and flash
6. Upon finish, replace battery, hold both volume buttons down and power on until you enter stock recovery (blue)
7. Apply:update.zip to enter red recovery
honestly thank you everyone for all your suggestions.
Here is where im at now. I was able to finally get an ED1 to flash with the pit file. Phone went through the same process of flashing, then went to samsung recovery and said it couldnt mount things, but it wasnt the same. It was like /dev/... and things of that nature. Factory reset, same thing. NOw when I boot I get bootlooped at the eye, which is better than what I was getting.
I didnt even think about flashing CWM to it and then flashing a rom/kernel. I might try that after I go through this. BUt as it is now the phone shouldnt show any signs of tampering so I may take it to verizon. Ill let everynoe know and THANKS AGAIN I really appreciate everyones help
I have clockwork as a .md5 file . Flash that from odin and then recover from there.
No problem; been in your boat before If we helped hit the thanks button ;-)

I have ~13 tabs open right now trying to figure out what to download in order to repair my goof up with Odin. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to the terminology so some of these noob guides are starting to get me mixed up and I already can't boot the phone anymore so here goes..
tl;dr - Phone won't boot normally. Can get into download and Odin but no idea how to operate Odin.
I was originally trying to flash AOSP Style from airfluip1 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323973
I updated the usb drivers and ran the heimdall fix he suggests "(OPTIONAL STEP)Download this and flash through heimdall to remove the potential bootloader issues.Heimdall one click beta 2d and bootloaders" but it seemed to disconnect in the middle of the process so I assumed it ****ed up. It said "DISCONNECTED" and my phone screen was stuck on colored static pixels. At this point I resorted to the bible thread to find guides on fixing it. Odin wasn't recognizing the phone even though I followed everything to a T so I thought I messed something up somewhere. Turns out, I needed to use a different USB cable. For whatever reason, that cable I had wouldn't let Odin recognize the device. Unfortunately, before I figured out that the cable was an issue, I hit the power button in that colored static screen and there was an audible notification of repartitioning. (What? What did I do? Can't see the screen!)
I can currently get into download mode and Odin does recognize the device but I have no idea how to use Odin to restore the phone and start from scratch.
Can someone clarify how to restore the device using Odin?
.................
The clearest guide is here...

@drywolf Not quite but I give thanks for trying to help.
@QUIETLYloud Perfect! Thank you kind sir. The way he spells out the specific steps within the Odin process is what I needed to get on the right track. I didn't know what to do when other guides were just saying 'flash with odin' or 'load such and such kernal in odin and then go into cwm'. I'm all set now. Phone has been restored to a working condition and I have an up to date rom that I wanted. +1 Thanks.
Can you mark the title of this thread [SOLVED]. Glad you got it working.
